Week 9 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - not long to go now ...

Morning!

And what a truly horrible morning it is.

Here is the spreadsheet to confess all

Let's see what we can do in the next/last two weeks. A couple of strict weeks to finish Bootcamp and hopefully we can shift some serious pounds.

Hello losers! 1lb up here.... Kind of going up and down around target but not being very strict so happy with that and won't mention Chinese, curry and vino last weekend
Planning three v strict days this week to get into proper keto in preparation for another weekend of food.... Should be manageable though, one night in French restaurant, so meat, creamy sauce and veg and a dinner party cooked by me, so low carb feast! Any recipe tips very welcome!!!

Ok so what do you keep ready to hand for when you wake up in the night hungry for proper food but really can't be are to make anything proper? I would previously have eaten toast which of course is a big No No for this woe. struggled tonight.

I have to admit I don't wake up hungry in the night, but perhaps a glass of water might help?

Have arrived at work, it's such a mad time of year...

Boot camp is tomorrow, I will report back if I am still alive. It doesn't look like a very shouty thing, more tasks and challenges that make you exercise but in an interesting way

lavender if your DH is struggling with sugar cravings maybe a supplement would help? I took chromium for a month when I started out which is supposed to help stabilise blood sugar levels. Mark's Daily Apple has a good piece on it.

But as everyone says, if he's cheating a bit and not committed to the sciencey stuff then he'll struggle.

It's good to hear of people's DH / DPs joining in, though. My DH is trying to put on weight (the bugger) so he joyfully eats my high protein & high fat menu and adds carbs! Envy

NewStart - you shouldn't be waking up in the night hungry! That means you're not eating properly/enough during the day. Are you eating enough fat?

Good luck for tomorrow, Willie. I don't envy you at all! When I change gyms at the end of January I have to decide if I'm going to carry on with my personal trainer or switch to a new one at the new gym. I very much enjoy working my trainer, but as I won't be able to go to the gym with him, it would mean outside training, which I really don't want to do!

Lavender - if your DH isn't really prepared to do anything serious towards LCing, then frankly I'd just abandon him to his own devices.

Am 9.7 this morning, which isn't too bad, considering the weekend - two strict days so far seem to have dealt with the carbs! I have only today and tomorrow, though, to lose anything more, as Friday (massive and boozy Christmas lunch) and Saturday (MN London meet up) are sure to sabotage my weight again.

Good morning. Just weighed in on the new scales and am down 1lb. From the spreadsheet there are some quite spectacular losses when you look at the totals since we started - people losing a stone, a stone and a half - well done everyone! I don't really fancy being super strict (I love my cheese and cream) so will be content to keep on losing slowly. Also I look a lot thinner and have nice clothes that fit at the moment. NewStart why not cook extra and make sure you have leftovers in the fridge that you can just reheat when you want something quick? Like Biwi says, better to eat more in the day and not wake up hungry in the night - but if you have a 4am start and go to bed after midnight maybe you're too tired to eat.

I am exhausted. I slept in the day yesterday thus didn't eat enough. And some toad woke me up when i went to bed early so i felt less ill. Needless to say i spent many hours awake during the night last night and hunger set it. Not helped by ds who has taken to getting up every two hours again. If I am up I often need food to settle me back down, always been like this. Never been a great sleeper. Thing is during the day I am sooo Tired I feel sick and don't want to eat and at night I am so hungry I can't sleep. Can't wait until Nov is over. It's a stressful one.

Good luck with the meals Biwi - just remember to have fun Grin

Just jumped on scales for a quick peep. Going down and really happy. 10lb down overall on Bootcamp and just over a stone from just before Bootcamp. Feeling much healthier.

Newstart Could you keep some boiled eggs or chopped chicken breasts as standby snacks; perhaps with some pesto sauce or chilli oil?

Well done Meg

Have fun at the MN meetup BIWI - and anyone else going.

No breakfast this morning, no time, but went to work on a coffee-and-cream. 2 Cofffees with milk at work - supposed to come home at 12 for lunch, but the auditors are in, so didn't get away till 2pm. (How can they fixate on 4 bloody days, in June? How can I remember? And anyway am only pennies out!) Anyway, lunch was eventually lettuce/ham/mayo, and a load of salted peanuts.

Dinner will be shepherds pie with swede.

Is anyone doing low carb for christmas dinner?

Just trying to decide on what to have on ours.

Are we allowed red cabbage as well as spring cabbage/savoy cabbage?

Report
Viperidae · 28/11/2012 17:03

Low carb for Christmas? Hmmm..........let me think............NO!!!! I'm going to pig out on anything I fancy secure in the knowledge that I probably won't fancy as much as I did before this WOE and I will only do it for a short time!

I have a funny tummy today, I feel very empty and gurgly but can't decide if it's in a hungry way or a sicky way. Shouldn't be hungry as I've had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast then 2 lamb chops, creamed leeks and asparagus for lunch. Off to get more water in case it's that but I'm not convinced.

Piffle · 28/11/2012 17:03

I hope so cos I am eating about 2 heads a week of red cabbage in Thai salads LOL

WE are doing for xmas a sort of compromise.
Confit of duck leg and rocket salad and parmesan crisps with blackberry and pinot noir jam.

Roast beef - the others will have Yorkshire Pud and roast spuds, parsnips etc
I am doing fruited red cabbage too plus sprouts sauteed in pancetta.

Pudding well here I say Sod it
Vanilla Pannacotta, blackberry sauce and hazelnut brittle and biscuit crumbs.

Cheese board

Heston Xmas pud and custard.

Wine! Beer! Baileys!

Big long afternoon walk!

nappy Just read that back and hope it doesn't sound arsey, it's not meant to but I am looking forward to a day or two of sheer piggery even if I pay for it later!

Have guests staying this week, hence lack of posts.

Stayed at 116lbs on Monday. Not sure it will do that again next Monday though, given the wine that is flowing.

Need to get back on it from Sunday after they have gone!

I am allowing myself 2 days to enjoy all the food that isnt good for me, then hopping straight back into low carbing. I will go off the rails otherwise, I know I will. So Christmas Day & Boxing day, then line drawn. I have New Year low carb treats planned, so know I can cope then. I have bookmarked loads of lovely low carb party nibbles to try! Will drink vodka & diet coke.

I sccumbed to 5 chips at KFC today, but considering what I managed to resist, I am mighty proud! The firs 2 chips tasted good, the third ok and 4th & 5th quite rank, so I stopped. I was a total chip fiend 3 weeks ago! Huge progress.

hey guys

halfthesize hope ur feeling ok, good luck with the party well done for all the baking

Biwi have a great time at your dinner do - is it tomorrow? if so i hope it goes really well and you will look gorgeous in your new dress and shoes :)

newstart that sounds difficult i do empathise as i have always been a light sleeper too - takes awhile getting to sleep, then the slightest thing wakes me and then sometimes takes forever to get back to sleep again, and then add a dc who is a rubbish sleeper and its a bad mix. i find a hot drink helps, some relaxing music, and sometimes that bach flower remedy stuff.

food been ok today....drank loads of water as was in hot office all day and really felt the difference so need to make sure i do that at home too.

Viper I'm with you. Although mine might be three days (Christmas eve, Christmas day, and boxing day).

Lunch was my standard protein counter salad from work canteen.

Tea was sausage surprise Grin. Sausages, swede, peppers, celeriac, cabbage, yum.

I have let the side down today though - first food cheat for ages....3 big handfuls of salted peanuts.......I bloody love them and dh bought a packet home, and well, I slipped.

Got two refugee children upstairs, bless them. A friend has had an operation today, and her dh is till at the hospital with her, so having them for a couple of hours has turned into overnight. Happy to help, I hope they sleep ok.

Got an interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!
