Happy birthday Willie

WineGless · 08/11/2012 22:10

Happy birthday Wille, hope you have been spoiled rotten and enjoyed your day.

B: salami filled with cream cheese
L: tuna mayo with big green salad
D: meatballs with sauce and courgette ribbons

Just sitting down now...think I should be going to bed.

I haven't drunk enough water but been out and about and didn't fancy getting short ;)

hurricanewyn · 08/11/2012 22:19

Happy birthday willie Thanks - did you make the flourless cake?

Wine - I'm Angry for you. Why bother asking? A bloody fried egg & sausage isn't exactly hard, is it?

Good day today, foodwise, but I'm in a bit of a grump. Off to bed now - hopefully I'll wake iup in better form.

caramelwaffle · 08/11/2012 22:37

Sorry to hear about the job Wine.

Good luck with the redeployment.

Yesterday breakfast was pork belly and sauteed leeks with cheese and cream.
Lunch - nothing
Dinner - pork belly with mayonnaise and chillis.
Snacks - olives and mixed cheese. Also taramasalata with three small cheese twists.

Today breakfast was fried eggs with baked chorizo and parmesan cheese.
Lunch - nothing
Snack - curly kale crisps
Dinner - a blowout of Thai coconut soup, ribs and satay chicken (lots of palm sugar in the soup I think)
Water - 3ls plus diet cloudy lemonade
Bowl of frozen berries

WillieWaggledagger · 08/11/2012 22:38

Thanks for birthday wishes - I did make the cake and it was v nice with cream - much cakier than I expected!

Need to get back to some clean eating tomorrow though so might send the cake into work with dp. I've eaten a bit too much 90% chocolate this week as well as gone back to dairy, and I feel muh better without.

MrsHerculePoirot · 08/11/2012 23:44

Happy birthday willie! Just got in there before midnight!!

I had good day yesterday and mostly today food wise...

BIWI · 08/11/2012 23:57

Went to see Skyfall tonight (bloody brilliant) and went out for dinner afterwards, to Bill's in Wimbledon. Only one thing on the menu I can have - naked burger - but forgot to ask for it without fries. I ate about half a dozen of them, and resisted the rest. But the salad that came with it had a suspiciously sweet dressing so I left most of that as well.

Why, oh bloody why, does everything have to have sugar in it?

Skyfall is indeed very good.

I read the Feminism section review of it (here) and thought "yes well...I can see your points - and agree with many - but by god, it's so stylish!" Grin

Good morning!
Thanks to everyone who has weighed in - we still have 47 people weighing in weekly which i think is pretty impressive!

Biggest loser of the week: ABitWoozy
Biggest losers so far: Toomuchmonthatendofthemoney and Viperidae
Biggest %age loser so far: Boobz

Bravo to all!

re the sugar in things... i am considering taking out to restaurants a little bottle of homemade dressing but i wonder whther that would be a bit control freaky!

BIWI · 09/11/2012 08:10

I'm pretty good, by now, at navigating restaurant menus, but salad dressings always fool me. I must remember to ask either for dressing 'on the side' or to insist that they only use wine vinegar rather than balsamic, and that there isn't any honey in it.

Morning everyone and belated happies to Willie.

OK day yesterday but was very hungry, which always goes with being tired. All LC stuff, just rather a lot of it! But lots of water, which I'll carry on with today. I seem to find it easier to drink water at work, when I am at a desk, rather than at home rushing around. Must try harder.

Willie, thanks for doing the spreadsheet. Fantastic job. I am impressed that there are still 47 of us weighing in after 6 weeks. We started with over a 1000 posts in first week, but seem to have settled to a few hundred from the hard core.

Have a good day everyone. Only one more til the weekend. Yippee!!

captainmummy · 09/11/2012 08:34

Well done to the Biggest Losers!

I tried to get in to see Skyfall last week, but it seems everyone else had the same idea (get away from trick-or-treaters!) and we were suppsoed to try again yesterday but dp had a hospital app which took all day - they checked his cholesterol and liver and everything seems fine, although he did tell they he was 'on Atkins' (!) and was told 'That's very bad for your heart. Atkins died of a heart attack you know'....

Anyway - I cooked a ham hock yesterday and need ideas for the stock? Ordinarily I'd do soup - pea-and-ham, lentil, leek-and-potato. What else can i do?

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/11/2012 08:34

I have managed not to snack on the wrong things for two days - hurrah! Feel so much better. I have got a cold/sore throat though which is a bit annoying. At least DH back tomorrow.

I always ask for dressing on the side and for my meals to replace chips/potatoes with salad or veg in restaurants. I got into the habit of doing it when I was pregnant and had to be so careful with eating and blood sugars and no-one minded I found so now I don't worry about asking...!

Doshusallie · 09/11/2012 09:47

You can all relax, i did not food poison myself. Grin

Breakfast was greek yog from Lidl. DH asked if he could have the pot when i'd finished with it to mix paint in at work!

WillieWaggledagger · 09/11/2012 09:48

that's a relief dosh (i like my salmon rare in the middle and have always been fine)

EwanHoozami · 09/11/2012 09:58

Hello all. I've had a few days of being a bit negative so I've kept my grumpy ass away from the thread for a bit.

Despite that, I've managed not to cheat and today I am feeling rather slim for the first time in years. Hooray! I'm trying not to care that none of my jeans fit me and shall trawl ebay for some size 12's.

captainmummy you could use your ham stock to make the celeriac boulanger which (I think) is on the recipe thread? 'Tis delish as a side for pork chops etc.

Sorry I've been crap at posting what I've been eating but I have been keeping a record of all the successful low-carb-low-cost recipes I've come up with so I might post them in a blog if I feel inspired enough soon. It might help any other LC'ers who are a bit on the skint side at the moment.

NewStartSameStory · 09/11/2012 10:37

Afternoon. Just grabbing a post training salad. I seem to be back on track but wanted to know this: is it better to have one coffee with one sugar in first thing then the 4 or 5 I have been having with the sweetner in. As a short term solution until I can get rid of the coffee altogether?
Also is it common to struggle with bootcamp lite when you first do this? Find easier to stick to bootcamp atm and wondering if that it is because I am building longer term ways of thinking that need time to re-enforce themselves before I can handle the slight increase of carbs of the bootcamp lite without slipping into bad habits again.

captainmummy · 09/11/2012 10:59

THanks ewan for the idea but, much as i love veg, celeriac distinctly underwhelms me! I tried the celeriac chips; no wow. I tried celeriac soup (am a real soup person) and i actually disliked it, found it too sweet, weirdly. Celeriac mash is not nice, much better with cauliflower. Not tried celeriac dauphinois, but i really love that made with turnips, so might give that a go if i can be bothered to buy another celeriac.

No, my stock is now a red curry soup with ham bits and carrots (which i will pick out of my bowl! Grin)

BIWI · 09/11/2012 11:24

NewStart - the answer to that depends on your goals. If you are Bootcamping to lose weight, then ditch the sugar. One sweetener in 4/5 cups isn't really that much - although you would do better to try and cut them out altogether.

Ewan - welcome back! Look forward to reading your recipes.

captainmummy - celeriac mash with leeks is lovely, and might be more palatable for you? I also sometimes do a mix of celeriac and cauliflower, which works well.

I know what the answer to that question should be and I know what I would give. The answer is that I am doing this to stay out of hospital, to be having a woe that is healthy. But truthfully i would love to drop at least 2 stone. So I guess it is going to come down to will power. And I'd like to say that it is one sweetner in the coffee. It isn't but can't stomach it without. I was cheating less when I have to ration the coffee. Was sleeping better and found it less hard wrt cheating. So i think that I shall ditch the yoghurt, and allow one coffee first thing. Then stick to boot camp. Hopefully this will get me back on track. Need to make sure that I eat at every meal time and drink the water. I can and I will do this. Scales have gone missing though but that is probably a good thing as I am tempted to jump on them so I can give myself a hard time. This is going to work for me but I need to get a grip of the stress. So need to make that a focus this weekend.

NewStartSameStory · 09/11/2012 12:07

On a plus note I am currently wearing a pair of trousers that I used to have for work pre ds. Slight muffin top but working on that. Want to get to pre-knee injury trousers don't ask why I still have them, I am not entirely sure

butterfliesinmytummy · 09/11/2012 12:16

Hi all, haven't been posting for a while but am still sort of on track (managed to cook 4 dozen choc chip cookies for brownie camp this week and 2 birthday cakes for dd1 last week and managed to eat less than a teaspoon of cookie and cake mixture all in which is pretty good for me).

Boden trousers arrived after about an 8 week wait and they have to go back as my usual size is too big Grin

Also ordered a bikini for my Xmas beach holiday .... Never worn one before but it's underwired and decent coverage and the very thought of it is keeping me away from carbs....

I can see in my face that I have lost weight and I can't believe how good that feels. Have a good weekend (df has promised the dds McDonald's tomorrow so will have a cheeseburger without the bun)!
