Hi all, just checking in after my gym session - first one since we went away so two weeks and boy did I feel it today! However weighed in this morning and looks like have dropped 2lbs so will see what the scales of truth say on Monday
B cheese and mushroom omelette yummy!!
NSSS - are you enjoying food or anything on this woe? Do you feel healthier and more able to control food choices?
Do you mean you are skipping a meal in order to have coffee with sweetener in as that's not really the idea. Have you tried Truvia which is sweetener but.natural plant extract?

BIWI · 09/11/2012 12:24

Why ditch the yoghurt, newstart? I don't understand!

OP posts:
NewStartSameStory · 09/11/2012 12:39

The raw truth is that I eat to stay alive, because no one has invented a little pill that gives all the nutrients that you need, that makes you feel full and completely negates the need for food. That's why I eat, it is essential to life. On this woe it is easier to eat, to focus on the good quality nutrients and not empty calories. I am battling with coming out of a 2yr long return of an ED and my view on food has been twisted for more then 20yrs of my life. One month of a new WOE is never going to fix it.

However, I am healthier. I not longer have the regular shakes, migraines or mood swings I had before. There is a definite health benefit to this. I need my brain to catch up with my body. I think it is the way forward but I know that I need to work on the reasons behind my twisted view before it will be perfected.

BiWI Only yoghurt I can stomach is the berry flavour alpro ones. They are fairly high in carbs and are triggering a craving for sweet things. Like wise peanuts etc. I need to get my head around the basic eating veg thing which I am still struggling with tbh before I can add them back and not use them as an excuse for eating a proper meal. My twisted view is that why eat a meal when you can grab a yoghurt. And it is leaving me hungry, grumpy and more susceptiable to temptations. Nothing wrong with the yoghurt per-say, just my way of thinking.

BIWI · 09/11/2012 12:47

Oh! I didn't realise you had been eating fruit-flavoured yoghurt before.

What are you eating/drinking now, on a daily basis?

WineGless · 09/11/2012 12:48

Sounds like you have travelled a long distance to get to this point so well done you. You have got to work out which bits work for you which it sounds like you are trying to achieve

JessicaWakefield · 09/11/2012 13:36

BIWI I think restaurants and food manufacturers now feel obliged to add sugar to everything as that's what most people's palates have come to expect. I remember on one of the Dr Robert Lustig videos on You Tube he said that he went to the grocery store to buy bread but of the 56 loaves he looked at he couldn't find a single one that didn't contain sugar!
Butterflies congrats on the loss, maddening to wait so long for the trousers but what a boost to find that they now don't fit and Ewan same to you re the jeans!
I stayed the same today although I think I look thinner for some reason. I've read on the BC threads that other people have also found that sometimes it takes the scales a bit of time to catch up so am hoping for a loss for the SS of marvellous-ness. Have a good day everyone, just a few hours until the weekend!

caramelwaffle · 09/11/2012 13:37

The London Wall Restaurant and bar (next to the Museum of London - nearest station St Paul's) does the Most amazing celeriac soup: I asked the chef what is was made with? She said celeriac and cream: It is some of the best soup I have ever tasted. Had a drizzle of oil on top and two home made garlic croutons.

Breakfast - sausage patties and one egg from inside McDonalds McMuffins
Lunch - 1/2 pint cockles

Also...one mug of Hotel Chocolat caramel liquid hot chocolate Blush

caramelwaffle · 09/11/2012 13:38

Well done butterflies

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 09/11/2012 13:41

Keep going NSSS, your honesty is searing, and I hope this thread and woe helps you long term.

I am struggling a bit today with cravings, first day of period and really want something carby. Reread the article biwi posted about how the world is setup around carbs and temptation, and it's so true. I think I would find it easier if I lived alone and only had "my" food in the house, but there is bread for DH and Ds, soups, beans, and don't mention the Halloween stash!! Gah, walk away!

B oatbran with water, cream and cinnamon, then yoghurt with a dozen blueberries
L 2 poached eggs, slice of ham, side of mushrooms and leek fried in butter and creme fraiche.

Am away to make a packed tea as I am travelling over tea time to a night out with friends in the next town, I am going to try hard to resist the Wine etc. and out again tomorrow, for curry!!! Give me strength, fellow LCers!!!

Doshusallie · 09/11/2012 14:00

channelling will power Toomuch - ha ha look at me with wine will power, I can talk the talk......

Lunch - at work, so the usual - cucumber, salad leaves, ham, tuna, mayo, 2 boiled eggs, hunk of mozzarella, roasted courgettes, dollop of coleslaw.

NewStartSameStory · 09/11/2012 14:12

Thing is Toomuch, there will always be temptation, there will always be that little voice that says go on it won't matter. You have to decide what matters most and listen to that voice that is reason. You can do this because you know it is for the best, that as much as you might think you want to give in you will only regret it, feel yucky and guilty if you do. You are doing well and it is not worth going backwards for because it takes longer to get to where you want to be. Head up, onwards and downwards!!!

Regularly? - scrambled eggs for breakfast, sometimes with bacon. I cook a packet of sausages on a fri night after training and pick at them over the weekend. lack of routine makes it harder to focus on remembering to eat and the sausages are a better snacking option ime. Erm the rest is a bit all over the place. try to eat salad for lunch but this meal is one that I struggle with remembering. Tea depends on what is happening, mostly try to have fish/meat and veg. Sometimes veg and cheese. But this too is a meal that has been picked around in the last couple of weeks so has been very hit and miss.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 09/11/2012 14:22

Thanks dosh glad to see the salmon wasn't fatal then ! Wink

WillieWaggledagger · 09/11/2012 14:38

did anyone else here the black farmer (of sausages fame) on a good read on tues (r4)

WillieWaggledagger · 09/11/2012 14:38

ahem 'hear'

caramelwaffle · 09/11/2012 14:58

No, Willie but I managed to track down some more of the sausages at last:
My local Sainsbury's seem to have stopped doing them (they are in Co-op)

halfthesize · 09/11/2012 15:41

Willie belated Birthday wishes and well done BIWI re the weight loss Grin

I dont seem to have much spare time at the moment to keep up with the thread but am still LC. Its DH Birthday today so its take away tonight and then out to paint the town red tomorrowSmile

I have decided that my fav breakfast is now sausage omelette, I use the LC frankfurter type, fried off first, its scrummyGrin

sybilfaulty · 09/11/2012 18:44

Half, that omelette sounds lovely.

WE have no wine in the house. I will get some when DH returns but at least I am not a glass in by now. I have a difficult weekend in prospect as I am hosting a big dinner tomorrow which might be hard as it's to remember a pal who died so I am hoping to stay on the straight and narrow as far as possible.

Happy Friday everyone Smile

vnmum · 09/11/2012 19:12

Belated birthday wishes willie

BUsy week at work, and everyone still doesn't get my woe so I just don't discuss it now. I did hear a few of them discussing fat in foods and how saturated fat is bad and that seed oil or veg oil is better. I chose to not get drawn in as I could have gone on about the omega 3:6 ratio of veg oils etc but they just don't get it. I am enjoying the job though and it is so good to have girly conversations Smile

Piffle · 09/11/2012 19:13

Well done everyone...
Such a good thread and so inspiring
I'm still losing :)
Today had bacon and eggs ( never get bored)
IDP kedgeree very filling and yummy with spinach
And Thai pork meatballs with peanut sauce and salad
And some nuts as snacks

Plus 1.5 hrs walking
Lots of water

BIWI · 09/11/2012 19:18

I love those meatballs, Piffle! Must try the kedgeree at some point too.

I had a very odd bout of diarrhoea this morning - not sure if it was the meal last night, or the Pringles that I nicked from DH Blush. Very peculiar - but I feel fine now. Haven't really been hungry all day, although have picked at some stuff this evening. Am hoping that the usual Friday night curry will be OK - but will definitely stick to tikka/tandoori rather than a vindaloo!

OP posts:
WillieWaggledagger · 09/11/2012 19:55

That doesn't sound very nice biwi, hope it's cleared up now

I made this for supper and it was delicious. I substituted shallots and only used one tin of tomatoes which was enough. I put it together last night and left it to marinate, then put on slow cooker this morning. I have come to really live shin beef

WillieWaggledagger · 09/11/2012 19:56

Oh I also left out the yoghurt - it didn't need it.

BIWI · 09/11/2012 20:26

Shin of beef is a fabulous cut. And that recipe sounds lovely - might have to do that one next week, if I can get some shin when I go shopping!

OP posts:
WineGless · 09/11/2012 20:31

That recipe looks yum-one for next week. I made a mistake getting IPD cookbook on kindle as I much prefer to browse a cookbook iykwim. Plus the fact I smashed my iPad screen once when a jar fell on it whilst I was cooking sort of puts me off.
Had pork chops for tea which weren't great tbh but had them with celeriac mash, cabbage and broccoli plus a creamy pepper sauce. Enjoyed the veg and sauce.

First Friday night off the booze in my no alcohol November.
Toomuchmonth - enjoy your nights out btw, you deserve them!

BIWI · 09/11/2012 21:06

I've just bought shin! I signed up to Abel & Cole this week, and didn't realise that they do meat as well as their veg boxes. So I'm looking forward to making something with that!
