Well done everyone!

[scrambles onto new thread!] Hi all! Grin

Pound up to 9 3 today, but to be brutally honest with you after the amount of wine drunk in the last 7 days I am dead chuffed with that. Will aim for 9 1 by end of the week. Consider myself to be in maintenance now.

Am claiming my friend's weight loss as my own anyway as feel directly responsible for it. Grin She is calling it the Doshdiet. (sorry BIWI but she would not know who you are)

Alpro yoghurt this morning. 2 decaf black coffees, a cuppa tea and 2 pints of water.

Not sure what to have for lunch, omelette I think.

All overslept this morning, still tired from the half term carnage and party on Saturday night. Working at home today, bliss.

Plucked up courage to weigh and am down 1lb from previous disastrous regain so heading in the right direction at least. And that after a big cheating weekend of baking for visiting parents. Back on the straight and narrow and going for a run later. Well done everyone - especially those of you for whom the end is in sight.

I'm 161.4 - can someone add my weight to the spreadsheet as I am on an ancient work computer that won't let me edit my details. Thank you!

Thanks for all the "well done's" on the previous thread. I hope that those of you who want to lose lots of weight will see that it can be done - but slowly and surely is the best way to do it. MsRinky - if you've lost 44lbs in a year you should be REALLY proud of yourself Thanks

Viper - glad to hear that DS is safely back in Blighty Smile

teddy have sorted spreadsheet

msrinky 44lb is over 3 stones and is brilliant. i know how frustrating it can be to feel that you still have a lot more to lose and weight loss seems slow, but you know you're doing the right thing

fab that your son is back safely viper, i bet he's relieved to see his own bed!

Ilovemyteddy, you're my inspiration !

I know I'm being impatient. And although it's a year since I've been at the Dr, it's only 32 weeks since I started to lose weight. So I've really lost about 1.3lbs a week over the period, which I know is good, I really do.

I think I just have engrained in my head the idea that 2lb a week is a slow but steady rate of loss, and I therefore think that I should have lost 64lbs, not 44. But in reality, while you can lose 2lb a week for a few weeks quite easily, achieving that rate of loss week in week out for a prolonged and sustained period of time is, I think, very rare.

There's a thread on here called something like lose 2lb a week for 30-odd weeks which I'm resisting going in to because I don't want to discourage anyone who thinks they can lose that much (and good luck to them!) but I do think it's kind of setting up to fail. It's a hell of an ask.

I am back, hopefully with a vengeance. The back is still sore, mega tablets still being consumed but I have bit the bullet and asked the Dr to refer me back to my consultant for another MRI scan to see whats going on now. I know a piece of my spine has broken off, but I think it may have moved again. Sad
I really dont want another op, but I cant lie around eating any more. Weight is creeping up along with carb intake which in turn doesnt help my back.

So although I am still poorly I am going to try to low carb as much as possible.

BIWI · 05/11/2012 16:27

Ouch, Jax. Yes, low carb/weight loss can only be a good thing. Thanks to cheer you up!

MsRinky - I have lost 25lbs now ignores the fact that I must have put a few back on over this last weekend and it's taken me since February to do that. So it's been very slow. But it's coming off, and it's much more likely to stay off. But I know how easy it is to get fixated on the weekly loss, rather than standing back and looking at your overall progress.

Do you chart your weight loss? Seeing the line gradually moving downwards can be a great motivator, as well as a constant reminder that things are very definitely going in the right direction.

I'm doing my '3 Day Experiment' (goodness only knows why it's called that), to undo the badness of the last few days. I hate doing it, but I really need to get back on track. It's three days of ultra low carb and it's also supposed to be low fat - so basically three days of lean protein/eggs. It's duller than dullsville, but it does work. So far today, I have had a boiled egg for breakfast, and then some sliced roast turkey and sliced roast beef with a bit of horseradish on it. Dinner tonight is roast pork, so I will just have the meat component, whereas DH and DS2 will have a full complement of veg.

so is it for 3 days BIWI? I saw a 'hospital approved' diet sheet some years ago, whereby you could only eat eggs and tomatoes - I think it went - Breakfast 2boiled eggs, lunch 2 boiled eggs and a tomato, dinner 3 boiled eggs and 2 tomatoes. I did it for 2 days! It was designed to lose 1 stone in less than a month, for heart-surgery patients.

Can you imagine doing that for a month?

Report
TheHumancatapult · 05/11/2012 16:57

Rinky try looking at it monthly rather than weekly makes easier to work out and allows for bad weeks

Sorry BIWI

Rinky it can be substained over period of time at that loss but it's bloody hard work and miserable and involves low carb and low fat and no booze and not slipping up even in the once no room for that one glass of wine or that one biscuit . Only know as been on it since Mid end of June and even I'm aware that means that at some point my body will need learn to eat proper again and will take lot of will power to keep of !! But you are right very few keep at it more than 3/4 weeks .

viper very glad to read your Ds is safe!!

mrsrinky in my mind, 2lbs a week is a great rate of loss! Esp long term, so anything close to that is doing fine. I hope you get some encouragement from your doctors, tho of course you are doing it for you, not them.

B oatbran with water and cream
L 1 slice roast beef, a few slices cucumber, 2 slices beet root, small coleslaw pot (at work canteen, not a great choice)
Snack about 30g nuts, couple of chilli olives

Off to check fridge for tea. Well done everyone!!

TheHumancatapult · 05/11/2012 17:13

Btw your diet seems far nicer and more filling !! And better in a long term and at some point I'll move over to doing it but on the light side probably 3 days then eat on the other 4 or as a lifetime maintenance will never go back to high carbs

I put a reply on here and its vanished... poof! anyway, BIWI I have sent a PM to you.

And I said day one has gone well. weird.

Report
BIWI · 05/11/2012 18:48

captainmummy - yes, it's for three days only. Apparently you should be able to lose 3-5lbs doing it. However, given that it's about 'undoing' some very high carb eating on previous days, it's probably just about emptying the glycogen stores rather than losing actual fat. But it gets you back into ketosis quickly.

I couldn't bear doing it for longer than three days. And I certainly don't want to do eggs and tomatoes!

Hello everyone, couldn't weigh today as MIL here and using my bathroom with the scales in, so I was confined to the bathroom without. I'll weigh tomorrow. Am feeling a bit low (about nothing in particular) so not in the mood for a good weigh but hoping that a nice LC supper and a good swim tomorrow will sort me out.

Well done to everyone who has lost, and to those who have pigged and not put on too much. Special jazz hands for Teddy on her amazing loss. Sorry we all thought you were up the duffer. Huge congratulations on the loss though. Bloody marvellous.

I love these threads and find them inspiring, even though I don't post as much as I'd like. Thanks to everyone for keeping them going and to BIWI for starting.

Thanks for all.

Hello all
Well, I was a pound up this morning. Not too bad in the scheme of things. I had a stressful week last week - I was TUPE'd mid week and had 2 days induction with the new employer. It was exhausting - I spent most of Saturday in bed. I'm looking forward to being able to just get on with some work. Oh and lunch was provided both days. All sandwiches and cake of course - except for some kebabs which appeared to have been coated in sugar (prob barbecue sauce - I'm hoping its just that I'm not used to sweet tastes now), and strawberries. Couldn't avoid some carby things, and I've been craving chocolate (resisted apart from 1 square of 90%).
It looks like a few of us have put on the odd pound this week. I'm really glad to have the encouragement on this thread or the lack of loss might get me down. Thanks all Thanks
Viper - glad your ds is back safe

Phew, than you for letting me off the guilt hook about "no gym" - I've accepted that it is just coming off slowly, but now and then I desperation gets me "when then????!!!!"
Saying that, I know I have not been entirely LC over these days with haloween and fireworks - nothing criminal, but some vino again. And I forgot to get myself on the scales this morning - not a good sign, probably subconsciously. S/s tomorrow then.

Trying to read while dh watches 999 emergency - but can't help watching as all the dickheads call in for no reason preventing real emergencies getting help. I blame Jeremy Kyle.

Lunch was 3 egg omelette with salad, tea was a pork belly strip, more ham and some cheese and celery.

No wine tonight, going to try and have a week off[clenches fist in determination ]

Sorry you are felling low sybs.

Glad son is home and safe viper.

Been to bonfire tonight which was mad rush to get out so had hot dog there without the bun which was disgusting and a mug of soup which tasted like Knorr packet stuff. Bleurgh!

Just had 2 boiled eggs and pint f water to fill me up.

Dosh - what are you reading? I have just reread the godfather which was our book club book.

Piffle-be strong

Toomuch month -well done on your Fab weight loss btw. You need to stay away from those gorgeous cakes at our meet up venue Wink

Forgot to weigh this morning as it was my first day at work.

I can see a potential problem at work in that brews keep appearing every hour or so Smile I have taken in some coconut milk but have a feeling it could get a bit carby too quickly.

The young girls at work couldn't grasp why i don't eat bread or potatoes etc. Mind you, they live off carbs and thought food would be boring without them but they did agree that added butter, cream, cheese and full fat mayo tasted nice so my food isn't tasteless.

It looks like i will be on my feet for nearly 8 hours a day at work so i am hoping that will act as low level exercise and will help with the weight loss although my legs are tireder than i expected considering i can beast myself in the gym for 2 hours Smile
