Come and weigh in:

docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmNIskihgXotdFVPcF9zWUhIal9BbTl5SnlTM3BlWVE#gid=0

Glad to see the losses so far!

I'm taking my weight as of last Friday, as I know that my weekend will have affected things. Yesterday wasn't too bad a day, although we went out for a Thai meal and even though I made the best choices I could, some of the food was definitely too sweet.

Now that I've got this weekend out of the way, it's back to it.

There's also a very interesting article for you to read, about leptin, the hormone that controls hunger:

Sounds like quite a few of us, not just me, are finding it a bit tough at this point. I'm sure if we stick with it for a while longer, things will improve and we will all sail into December in our slinky black LBDs!! Come on ladies, we bootcampers are made of tough stuff!!! (mostly sausage and cheese [hgrin])

JessicaWakefield · 31/10/2012 13:20

Don't worry Cathy DS 6mo vomited into, yes into my iPhone (I think it got in through the headphones socket). It went very strange but then as Brass said after a few days of drying out it was absolutely fine!

Doshusallie · 31/10/2012 13:27

Friend that I converted has lost 3 pounds in 3 days and is extremely pleased. [hgrin]

Lunch - 2 sausages, 2 boiled eggs, baby bel.

Going for a (very windy) beach walk later on this afternoon.

AuntieMaggie · 31/10/2012 14:27

Having a crappy week at work and have induldged in noodles for lunch which i didn't even enjoy as they were cold by the time i stopped crying over the promotion i didn't get :(

Onwards and upwards... or downwards rather...

cathyandclaire · 31/10/2012 15:30

Laptop has been resuscitated by nice mac man, new keyboard but nothing horrendous....
And on the subject of horrendous things I have gained 2lb, which frankly is quite a lot less than I deserve.
Am doing much better today, no tricks or treats for mealthough the chocolate orange cake-pops dd is baking for halloween do look rather tempting-
Aunty Maggie, hope your day gets better.
BIWI well done for totally deserved plaudits Thanks

Piffle · 31/10/2012 15:59

Found nitrate free bacn delivered...
www.devonrose.com

Pricey but since we are not drinking £8-10 a night it's ok :-)

Poppy1234 · 31/10/2012 16:12

Afternoon everyone and hope you are all having a good Halloween. Thank you for all the kale advice, I made chips yesterday which were gorgeous, I still have a kale bush left so will be trying out some other ideas.

We had a lovely themed breakfast with scary monster bacon and eggs. I made the spinach soup from IPD cookbook for lunch thinking it would be suitably green and slimy. Added chilli and parmesan to try and get some flavour into it, I'm just not a fan. If anyone has any lovely Spinach soup recipes please share as soups are such a lovely warming lunch.

Dinner will be mummy's fingers (aka sausages wrapped in bacon) with baked sweet potato for the DC and salad and maybe something with celeriac for me.

Re the nitrate free bacon, I've found some from a local butcher but was googling and some hardcore paleo people seemed to say nitrate free didn't really make any difference as it was replaced with something equally undesirable. Can't remember details, will have a look later.

Hello! I had a terrible day yesterday, fell off the wagon completely. Have bought sugar free sweets today as else I know I'll eat some of the Halloween ones!

Doshusallie · 31/10/2012 17:34

Try bloody avoiding Halloween sweets and treats at Butlins!!! I am managing so far but Crikey!!!!!!

sybilfaulty · 31/10/2012 18:28

Was out at spirit of Christmas fair and had half a roast beef ciabatta as nowt low carb at all. Bread was very stodgy, am so glad I don't eat it any more. Need 2 good days now before gin fest of mother in law's visit at weekend....

MrsHerculePoirot · 31/10/2012 20:29

Luckily we had lots of trick or treaters this year so all the lollies except three disappeared. I haven't had the best of weeks altogether this week, DH is back tomorrow night though, so hopefully things will be better for the end of the week. It wasn't completley disasterous, but too many things have passed my lips that I didn't need or really want tbh, but thought that I did.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 31/10/2012 20:38

B 2 fried eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, (from the burger van, it was ACE!!)
L alpro yoghurt (as was still full from breakfast)
D baked salmon with kale, roast parsnips and fishy co watercress sauce (4.3g carbs per 100g, I probably had about 60-70g)

DS has a ton of sweeties from going round the doors tonight (we call it guising in Scotland, ie in disguise) but I am feeling fine about it, as I know I will have plenty of goodies at Christmas!!

Very excited at meeting up with the lovely winegless tomorrow!!!! [hgrin]

BigBroomstickBIWI · 31/10/2012 20:48

Parsnips, toomuch?!

And those sausages ...

Viperidae · 31/10/2012 21:16

I bought a bucket of cadbury's mini-bars as we had loads of trick or treaters last year - this year we had one of DDs friends with her partner and 2yr old son! Will have to force feed them to DH to save myself!

Have spoken again to DS, they are fine and amazed at the can-do attitude of the New Yorkers. He said whereas we brits would say no buses, tubes, etc so can't get to work, the new Yorkers are priding themselves on getting there even if it takes 3hrs. They were obviously very lucky in their choice of hotel as it is now full of people moving from harder hit areas.

Sorry you are having a tough time at work AuntieMaggie but hold your head up, you'll come through it. I'm a great believer that things work out for the best.

B: Sausage, bacon, 2 eggs scrambled with a splash of cream
L: Chicken, mayo, handful of almonds (yet again held up at work)
T: Shin beef casserole, mashed celeriac, pea shoots. 3 sugar free sweets.

Seriously too low on vegetables and water today. Must get my arse in gear.

MrsHerculePoirot · 31/10/2012 21:19

Maggie sry, I meant to say earlier that is always horrid at work when stuff like that happens. Hope it gets better soon and they realise their clear error of judgement...

SingingTunelessly · 31/10/2012 21:34

Viper, good to hear DS is safe and well what a relief for you. I love, love, love NY and the visits I've had. Always said that if I hadn't got married and had DCs I would have spent 12 months over there to live and work. Ahh well, too late now.

Maggie, hope you're ok. Sad. Chin up.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 31/10/2012 22:02

Well, at least it's not Thai food, Atkins bar and wine, eh, biwi? [hwink]

Lol toomuchmonth doesn't know that BIWI had sent me o sign the big stick!!
Been out for curry and had Chicken tikka with saag which was yummy.

Auntie maggie sorry about the promotion- big hugs

Dosh you stay away from those sweets

AuntieMaggie · 31/10/2012 22:26

Thank you ladies :) particularly annoyed cos I worked so hard for it even when I was ill. A few random things have happened since the slug incident on Monday, including strange dreams about people I never speak to in work and a glass heart pendant breaking without any help (the necklace was hung on the wall but the broken pieces of the pendant were on the floor...) that part of me is feeling superstitious and the other part of me thinks I'm just tired!

Apart from todays lapse which was also the result of a ridiculous hospital fiasco this morning I've been good. This woe really suits me and its something I think I can follow long term.

Went to the pub for tea last night and had a mixed grill. I ate 4 chips and gave the rest to dp which I know is a bit naughty but just that small amount satisfied my craving. Dp offered me a pudding and normally I would've had choc fudge cake but I didn't want anything and all my sweet cravings have gone or are satisfied by a diet coke. Even after my hospital appt I've looked at stuff in the shop and I just don't want it. The only thing I do miss is the convenience of sandwiches as I walked for ages yesterday to find something for lunch in heels that gave me blisters but the thought of eating them puts me off!

I saw my gynae consultant who is really pleased with my progress and has discharged me with an open appt if I have any issues so feeling really positive about that. He's also given me the green light to come off the pill and try for a baby as soon as I'm ready which is also exciting but probably won't be for a couple of months yet as I want to lose some more weight and get xmas out the way.

So all in all a massive thank you to BIWI and all you ladies that also provide support Thanks

NotAgainAndAgain · 31/10/2012 22:27

I did not have any wine (or alcohol for the matter) during all these 4 and a half weeks - not once, not a bit, not in restaurants, (embarrassingly asking for "still water please").
And raising my quater-full glass today (for a good reason) I was so nervous - if my relationships with vino have changed to the same extent as with Thornton Viennese and Thornton Alpini - (bad-bad) carbs like sex after having decided to divorce - no joy-no fun-no pleasure. But (secretly pleased) I found out - with wine it is still ok. Phew. DoshuWink

HumphreyCobbler · 31/10/2012 23:02

Hello everyone. Just popping in to say thanks for the support earlier in the week. I am still at it and everyone told me I looked thin today Grin

Boobz · 01/11/2012 05:33

Well done Humphrey. I have got a few "ooo, you've lost weight" comments over the past couple of weeks and it really spurs you on.

Just came on to say I had my first proper cheat last night, in 31 days. Went out to dinner with some friends and DH (who is also doing the Zone) and I decided to relax it as a treat and eat bread and wine. Had too much wine (3 largish glasses - wasn't even very nice wine!) and this morining I feel shite. Think it is mostly due to the wine (my body is just not used to it any more) and the general over-stuffed feeling as ate way beyond the portion size I have on the Zone, so feeling really bloated and crappy this morning.

Anyway, I think it was worth doing, as I now know that it's really not worth it: over-eating, over drinking and eating that many carbs. I would have been better off having 1 glass of (nice) wine, no bread or potatoes and eating about half the amount - would feel a lot better this morning. Just goes to show how your body adapts and changes... last night wouldn't have seemed indulgent or over the top at all a month ago, but now it feels all bleurgh.

Right, time to get on with P90X! Another 14 days and then I take the first "after" photo... gulp.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 01/11/2012 06:37

Well done, AuntieMaggie - and how exciting! We look forward to hearing about your POAS tales!

NotAgain - phew. That would have been awful ...

Boobz - it's a salutary lesson, isn't it? Looking forward to your phot Grin

I'm up at stupid o'clock because I'm supposed to have a personal training session at the gym, but my trainer has just texted me to cancel, as he's pulled his back. So now I'm having the session tomorrow morning, after a night out tonight Confused But hopefully that will keep me a little bit on the straight and narrow when I'm out tonight!

Yesterday's lunch (apart from sharing a bottle of wine) was OK-ish - roast baby chicken salad with pickled mushrooms and sherry vinaigrette for starter. The vinaigrette was suspiciously sweet, so I hope they hadn't added sugar. There were also loads of tomatoes added, which wasn't on the menu, so I left most of those. Main was roast rump of lamb, which I had only with watercress (starter was actually very large) and then cheese and celery for afters.

Dinner, at home, was chicken marinated in lemon, olive oil, oregano and curry powder, griddled, with braised fennel and shallots, and leeks cooked in butter and cream, with chilli and Parmesan.

Probably too much food overall, and a lot of dairy, but let's see ...
