Week 4 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - where the going gets tough ...

Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

Evening [water]

Am still low carbing, not quite boot camp but almost, rarely get out of woolly matters to post anywhere else at the mo, so not attempting to join in fully here. But feeling a bit battered as DH asked when I was ever going to eat normally/properly again tonight I shall be linking him some stuff to read, you can be sure of that Smile

HumphreyCobbler · 23/10/2012 21:58

My legs have gone into a new shape! Wow.

Meet up sounds lovely but I am in South Wales so rather a way away from London. I don't drive in London either Blush

BigBroomstickBIWI · 23/10/2012 21:58

Evening stranger Pistey!

I would have thought your DH would have got used to it by now.

... but Dr Briffa is probably the place to start for him - either the book ("Escape the Diet Trap") or his blog

BigBroomstickBIWI · 23/10/2012 22:02

Sounds definitely like we should be doing something to the West of London then. Trouble is, it needs to be in a place where someone knows the locale/can scout for a suitable venue!

Part of him will always think it is a fad Sad

I linky the blog. And then I slap him.

And you would have thought he'd have got his head round it yes!! It will be two years in Jan when I started low carbing!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/10/2012 22:07

Low carbers meet???!!!

Grin
WineGless · 23/10/2012 22:14

Oh god Pistey, that's depressing. DH asks me when I'm going to eat normal food again and have the same conversation about low carbing. It's been 6 months and I was hoping he might get it soon.

Obviously not

cathyandclaire · 23/10/2012 22:33

( pops chocolate and macademia wrappers down back of trousers in anticipation of Biwi's big stick)

BigBroomstickBIWI · 23/10/2012 22:44

You have indeed, Pistey!

Love idea of meet up but I'm in the North East so will be there in spirit only!
I've eaten too much today but nothing catastrophic. Have a temptation-filled few days ahead though so I really really need to stay strong, I've been losing and gaining the same 4lb for about three months and it is DOING MY HEAD IN! Must not undo the good work of bootcamp this week. I. Must. Not.

Viperidae · 23/10/2012 22:54

Can I just tell anyone concerned with constipation that these sugar-free sweets that I cheated with are the equivalent of DynaRod. I've had plenty of exercise as I've had to run (literally) to get to the loo several times.

My DH is normal weight and is staying the same because he has muesli for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch then my low carb meal at teatime but he is loving it, he thinks the food we are eating is amazing. He doesn't have any clue about it and asks the odd daft question like "is rice not low carb then?" but is perfectly happy to eat it.

NigellasGhost · 23/10/2012 22:55

oooh is there a meet up? would love to come! (if poss)!

NewStartSameStory · 23/10/2012 23:08

Vip - ooop north sounds good to me. I was in Blackpool a week ago. I end up there about ever couple of months atm.

I might be a wee bit drunk. It was a very good evening. Blush
i have a fry up planned for tomo, followed by salad for lunch followed by fish and veg for tea. And lots and lots and lots of lovely water.

debs39 · 23/10/2012 23:22

tartiflette I am the same with those pesky last few ahem stubborn pounds...being good means I still stay the same so end up having 'what the heck...chocolate nutella and ricecake moments of madness'...I try not to weigh myself so don't see daily fluctuations but am seriously trying aooo hard..... still bfeeding up to 4 x a day exercising 5 x a week and still I can't crack my last half stone....

debs39 · 23/10/2012 23:22

ps am v v jealous of meet -up : (

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/10/2012 23:43

WHAT?!?!?!?! I step away from the laptop for a short while to do tonnes of marking (look at me living it up) and you all start blaming me for the Wine. I don't even drink the stuff.....

I don't know why you are all talking about driving in London, surely if we were having a piss meet up, you'd all come via public transport anyway?!? Wink It might have to be between bootcamps though else BIWI might actuallly bring her big stick!!!!

Right I am off to bed - no more blaming me for anything when I'm not here!!!!!

TheHumancatapult · 23/10/2012 23:56

Piste

I get the same from people no Dh thank feck , been doing since midjune and I'm not planning on stopping any time soon and the results are very noticeable now

BIWI

Your big stick is scary

buy I admit I found thought of seatbelt extension next year even scarier ( which btw is already going be not necessary now Grinamd not done yet as next September I got to be shaken into a wetsuit .
You seen how tough those things are and know someone's going have to grab my legs [ must remember they will need shaving ) and help pull them through some other buggers going have to hold me by the waist and shake me into it lol

Wonder what others peoples motivation is

butterfliesinmytummy · 24/10/2012 07:18

I'm on holiday at the moment, eating lots of eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast (buffet style), salad for lunch and picking my way through dinner pretty well. My undoing is a glass of white wine before dinner (well, I'm here with my parents so not exactly clubbing every night). It's for 4 days, hoping to see a small loss this week, but anything that's not a gain is good.

Good question about the motivation Catapult.....
I'm 40 next summer and determined to slim down for that, also have a once in a lifetime holiday over Christmas this year and a size 12 swimsuit would be nice... So far on track.

Catapult, wetsuits are bugger to get into even if you are a size 6, but don't let it put you off, everyone struggles. Best thing is, they are 100 times more effective than spanx nice you're in them ... If I could wear a wetsuit under skinny jeans, I would Grin

TheHumancatapult · 24/10/2012 07:39

Won't ever be a size 6 but if could standI'm 5.7 I like be a size 10/12

but I'm either at a good height to look and enjoy a nice arse on a guy or at bad height if someone farts . I prefer the first option Grin

captainmummy · 24/10/2012 08:26

Catapult - that reminds me of when my dh and ds1 were in london once waiting for a train, ds (about 5 at the time, bum-height) heard dh let one out, (crowded platform) looked up and said 'DADDY!@ in a very loud voice.

WineGless · 24/10/2012 08:33

MrsHP. Thought you were around would never slag off behind your back!! Plus dosh was just trying to get out of trouble with BIWI Grin

Boiled egg and mayo for brekkie
Beef stew for lunch and sausages with buttery leeks for tea

I appear to back to square one on the scales which has pissed me off mightily

vnmum · 24/10/2012 09:36

Both myself and golden are in salisbury. golden been here longer than I have so would know more venues but we do have a tapas bar and a few steak houses if we wanted to eat at the meetup. Bath and oxford are not far but don't know them at all.

Is there any others in different places? I know a few are in london.

Had a surprise loss this morning, down to 9st 7.5, lets hope it stays off for the week

Liveinthepresent · 24/10/2012 10:15

Morning all well done all the losers.

In case BIWI brandishes her stick to non weighers - thought I would update that I am officially abandoning Bootcamp as I got a very much hoped for BFP. Grin
Very very early days but fingers crossed at least I am starting half a stone lighter.
Am still following some of the principles and hoping won't succumb to cakes as early as last time.
Guess I know this time how hard it is to shift pregnancy weight.
Thanks to all for the thread and motivation.

TheHumancatapult · 24/10/2012 10:18

Congratulations present
