Week 4 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - where the going gets tough ...

Morning all!

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness

By now, you may be finding it tough going. The weight loss is nothing like it was in the first couple of weeks. In fact, you may even have seen the scales show a gain.

This is quite normal at this stage, as your body is shifting/has shifted into fat-burning mode, and you are now burning only fat. No more water loss. Long-term, sustainable weight loss is likely to settle at 1-2lbs per week.

By now, though, you should be more used to this WOE, and it should seem a more normal way to eat. Hopefully you've sorted out how to plan for times when you're out and about, and have a few strategies up your sleeve for the unexpected. And hopefully you are also better at knowing what does and doesn't work for you.

Here's to a good week to us all. Smile

caramelwaffle · 23/10/2012 19:48

I feel as if I've blown it having a huge bowl of berries: this woe completely changes ones way of thinking HmmGrin

caramelwaffle · 23/10/2012 19:52

halfsize I have 17-18 bars of chocolate in the house (given - two bars at a time - by a lovely old man I know from one of my community events).

MiniWaffle won't eat them: I can't.

They're yours! Smile

I'd be up for a meetup. I've got a satnav and will drive anywhere except London. am on a direct route to Waterloo though so a train would be no problem. I'll look after vnmum if it has to be in London. :)

Oh and I stayed the same. I did put on 3 pounds, out of nowhere, hadn't had anything bad at all but then I ovulated and it's gone back down again so must have been some kind of hormonal water retention.

Today I have had far too much chocolate. Eldest son brought Hotel d'Chocolate goodies. 80% dark, two sorts of 100% dark and some gorgeous filled ones with 90% dark choc and practically unsweetened praline filling. They have gone on my list for Xmas.

JessicaWakefield · 23/10/2012 20:13

Willie please don't archive me, I promise faithfully to weigh in tomorrow! Two mornings running DH has bought me coffee in bed and have swigged without thinking and of course cannot step on the scales after that. It's just a double espresso so about 100ml but weighing after drinking something just wouldn't fit in with my well honed scales ritual!

EwanHoozami · 23/10/2012 20:22

Whippoor that HC 100% choc is pretty challenging stuff! But what a lovely son you have to buy such decent treats.

I'm weaning DS2 at the mo and had an interesting convo with a HV about how babies need protein and not loads of sugary fruit and empty carbs. I thought she'd be all about the baby rice and rusks. Hmm, refreshing!

Viperidae · 23/10/2012 20:23

Well I think I am the highest in terms of both weight and geography! I'm up in the north - maybe you should all aim for a weekend in Blackpool! If anyone has watched "999 What is your emergency" you'll be more scared of here than London Blush

Food ok-ish today
B: Omelette with half a sausage and chicken bits in
L: The last of the chilli, guacamole and sour cream
Snack: 1 slice ham
T: Fish pie (made with Tesco frozen fish pie mix, prawns, philly, milk, celeriac, leeks and a sprinkle of cheese)

The "-ish" came in as I ate a few spoons of sugarfree jelly because it was there and have just eaten th last of the sugarfree sweets DD bought me the other day. Am now sitting nervously waiting for my bottom to explode!

BigBroomstickBIWI · 23/10/2012 20:24

cathyandclaire - I'm watching you ...

Would love to meet up but I'm in Northern Ireland so would be a bit tricky. Have had a super busy day including a yet to be resolved debacle with John Lewis but feel very productive.

B: Greek yoghurt (cutting down on dairy is going spectacularly well)
L: Scrambled egg, smoked salmon, leftover braised cabbage, courgette
D: Lamb and spinach curry with cauli rice and green beans. The curry was just lovely meaning my portion control is going is well as my no dairy.

tempertemper · 23/10/2012 20:36

Full of stinking cold. Quite useful for appetite however. But could not for the life of me do eggs for brekkie with sore throat - so not a tremendous start but was back on the wagon by lunchtime. And have just got some yoghurt and a few berries out of fridge to "soothe my throat" - had a mouthful - and triumphantly placed it back in the fridge because, really, I AM NOT HUNGRY AND DO NOT NEED IT. (This is unheard of for me: whoop whoop)

B total, tablespoon blueberries, nuts on top. Quite a lot of them.
(at this point realised today was supposed to be the first day of the rest of my life, and had started a bit flipping carby-ly. Therefore resolved to be protein and fat-tastic for the rest of the day)
L chorizo, asparagus, prawn and tiny-bit-of-feta-on-top 2 egg omelette. Yum.
D same omelette again. With chilli flakes on top. Double yum.
Snacks: few chilli olives. slice leftover roast chicken.

Am now supping a nice liquorice and peppermint tea, feeling slightly smug that I managed to turn my back on the (lovely cold refreshing) yoghurt and frozen berries.

Love this WOE. H'rah.

WineGless · 23/10/2012 20:53

Poppy what's your lamb and spinach curry recipe? Sounds yummy.

DH being relocated at work so been discussing that and how it's going to impact on our already fraught schedule juggling both having full time jobs which include my shifts, family time, time for each other and time for self. I know people do commute but this is second time they have moved their offices further away. He didn't choose to work for them where they are moving him to which incidentally is a nightmare to get to. I have helped him compose an email to their HR dept as this was a consultation but I suspect it's a done deal and we will just gave to suck it up.

D bolognaise sauce and courgettes

Doshusallie · 23/10/2012 20:58

Evening all.

Crikey Pilates is frickin' hard!! Who knew!!?? Shock

Snacks - 2 slices of ham and a baby bel

Tea - dh cooked roasted chicken pieces and roasted veg, veg a bit too carby (included yellow and green peppers, onion and cherry toms) but as he had painstakingly picked out the potato in my serving what could I do?

Am also having a cheeky (very small) glass of white.

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/10/2012 20:59

Wine - that does sound difficult. Things are never simple.

I would be up for a meet-up too! I can get anywhere BIWI can as I think I think about 10 mins away from her!!!

AuntieMaggie (I was going to call you Mags then, but didn't know if you'd know I meant you!!!) - well done on going under 16. I am just above you then, so am going to work hard to catch you up.... Wink

WineGless · 23/10/2012 21:13

Dosh- really?
Very good for your core stability though!

I'm up for the meet up shifts depending

There are some really inspiring stories on here btw

WineGless · 23/10/2012 21:13

Ps sorry for whining, it feels like its a never ending roller coaster

BigBroomstickBIWI · 23/10/2012 21:20

I love Pilates, but I'm always surprised by how much I ache afterwards!

WineGless - you aren't whining. Sounds like a really difficult situation.

Doshusallie - you know those pounds that you keep losing and then putting back on?

WineGless · 23/10/2012 21:27

But BIWI she's on white tonight Wink

Doshusallie · 23/10/2012 21:28

[bootfaced]. 1 small glass BIWI. 1!!!!! And I really am so good with food!!! How can it makes so much difference?????? [sulks but knows you're right]

Wine it's lots of teeny tiny isolated movements like leg lifts and lifting elbows and shoulders off the floor, abdominal crunches, gah, really hard. Can only be good for me.

Doshusallie · 23/10/2012 21:29

I blame wine for being called wine and making me want wine.
