NotAgain I'm not sure I entirely understand your post
I tried today "fatty kind of" chicken - but got confused is 5.2 carb a high count or acceptable.
What does this mean? If you're buying fresh chicken, there won't be any carbs. What did you buy?
Now I feel like reading every label, even though I thought I pretty much "on the ball".
Yes - absolutely! Read every label so you know how many carbs are in the foods you're buying.
Any guidelines for meat? Or should it be only home-cooked when you are sure of what you use for cooking?
Fresh/pure - i.e. unprocessed meat/fish is always best. There are no/very few carbs in meat/fish. Are you buying ready meals? These are always carby because of the extra ingredients - usually sugar in some guise.
Cake - cheating is cheating! This WOE is very unforgiving, as you have just found out! Back to strict Bootcamp and you'll be fine. Sorry to hear you're not going away though.
Ewan you make a good point about weighing. Personally, I'm a daily weigher. This is what keeps me on track. I always know that I'm trying to avoid the fall-out of bad behaviour if i don't get on them in the morning! If you're a daily weigher it does give you a good insight into how your weight varies naturally - i.e. that your weight can go up and down in a way that is seemingly unrelated to what you've been eating/drinking. I also plot my weight on a spreadsheet each day [nerd alert] and it does help me to see the overall trend, over time - this can be really, really helpful if your weight loss is slow. It's very easy to get downhearted and think nothing's happening - but when you see the line gradually going down over the weeks, then you know that you're doing the right thing!
Having said that, it can be disheartening to see the scales go up by a couple of pounds or so, especially when you know you haven't cheated. If you can't cope with this, then definitely only weigh weekly.
halfthesize Way to go! Clothes fitting is by far the most rewarding thing - even better than a lower number on the scales.
Princess Measuring is a good idea, as long as you can always get the tape measure in the same place! I gave up on that - but I use clothes as my guide. I have jeans or a dress that I keep trying on.
