Week 1 Weigh-In - Little Black Dress Low Carb Boot Camp

WillieWaggledagger · 30/09/2012 16:17

i know you're all dying to get started on the low carb boot camp, and for those who haven't done this before, here is the link to the spreadsheet where you should record your starting weight for Monday 1st October in column c next to your name. Please don't touch any other columns for now

weight is recorded in lbs, so if you have problems converting from kg or stones, FiddledeFat made a handy widget which can be found in the tab at the bottom labelled 'conversion'

if your name isn't on the spreadsheet then you can add yourself by adding a new line and dragging the formulae down from an adjacent row, or just ask me to add you and I will do so as soon as i can

good luck with the first week of bootcamp!

had a very 'thin' day today, despite my period being due. Sadly I am not still having my 28 day cycle Sad but never mind. Have stopped feeling hungry but was teaching today so couldn't drink enough thoughout the day as I need to wee about four times for every litre I drink.

butterflyexperience · 05/10/2012 21:59

BIWI :)

Yes hopefully I can take this all the way to 2 weeks than I'm going to Atkins OWL WOE.

Like I said I'm hoping I can lose 10lbs by the 2 weeks...

vnmum · 05/10/2012 22:12

Thanks jessica and everyone else for their input Smile

MmeLindor · 05/10/2012 23:05

I had delicious chicken breast with just a sprinkling of grated emmentaler, wrapped in parma ham and baked in the oven. With it spinach with garlic and lemon (my all time favourite veg).

Still drinking a lot but not needing to wee quite so much. And I am not feeling so hungry any more. I know it is probably just my imagination, but I feel slimmer already.

My legs and bum definitely look smoother - anyone else noticed this?

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 05/10/2012 23:59

Hi. Can I please be added to the spreadsheet? As at last Monday I was 12 stone 3lbs.

foosty · 06/10/2012 08:09

morning all

Well I am feeling rotten, and I don't know if it's just the cold that's doing the rounds or carb flu. My throat's starting to hurt, my head is sore, I am knackered, feel totally drained. Felt the same yesterday but dragged myself to circuits, felt ok afterwards and thought I'd sweated it out, but apparently not.

I am hoping it's carb flu as that would show I'm doing this right, right?

Last night's dinner was slow cooked chicken with a leek, mushroom and mustard sauce, with cauliflower and cabbage. It was lovely.

vnmum - you mustn't feel bad about going back to work. What JessicaWakefield said rang true for me too - my brother and I had no issue at all when my mum went back - think I was about 10 and he was 6. Plus, the childcare issue is especially difficult when you're a forces wife. We don't live on a base - my dh works at his base and we live at home, don't move with him. He gets home every 2/3 weeks on average. This month he won't be home for 4. It's hard enough dealing with the children on your own for most of the time without trying to work too so just do what you have to do. Whatever works for you is the answer, even though it might take a while to figure out what that is.

sybilfaulty · 06/10/2012 08:10

Hope you are OK, Mrs HP. It's such a horrible shock when that happens. Hope sleep has helped.

VNmum, my mum went back to work FT when I was 5 and it was fine for me. Honestly. We have a great relationship and it just became our norm. I think it was tougher on her than it was on us, because she was either at work or childcaring, but it was not a problem from our perspective.

Am still ill so am lying in bed reading MN and buying rubbish on ebay whilst DH does the ballet run. Result!

sybilfaulty · 06/10/2012 08:13

Foosty there are lots of nasties doing the rounds right now. It could be carb flu, but could just be a normal bug. Whatever you do, keep the faith and DON'T have any carbs. Keep eating LC, in large quantities if you need to, and you will see it on the scales. If carb flu, it will pass shortly. If normal cold, then wrap up warm and feel better soon.

Lots of water also necessary of course to banish all ills (hopefully!)

foosty · 06/10/2012 08:57

thanks sybil...am craving orange juice but will make do with my lempsip and lots of water. Think I'll feel better once I get going for the day. Will look forward to a long hot bath tonight once the dc are in bed, then an early night. Think it is just a normal bug!

Off to scour the recipe thread for LC comfort food...Smile

cathyandclaire · 06/10/2012 09:21

Get well soon Foosty!
Anyone else out there who wakes up like they've been sleeping in the Sahara? I am so thirsty in the mornings despite drinking litres of water every day and even before bed!
Maybe I need to set up a drip overnight Wink

BigBroomstickBIWI · 06/10/2012 09:36

foosty - definitely a bug if you've got a sore throat. And as sybil says, there's lots of it around at the moment. I've just about fought it off, although I went to the gym yesterday and noticed it was harder work than normal.

If you're craving orange juice, why not get hold of some effervescent orange vitamin C tablets? I know they contain sweeteners, which isn't ideal, but they will not only help you with your cold, they will also help deal with the craving whilst being much more low carb-friendly.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 06/10/2012 09:38

woke up this morning much better - not sure if its because I am still highly medicated or if my muscles are looser due to meds. Either way, I know better than to 'get on with things' and need to stay flatish for today too. Sad

Stupid back, stupid bones and stupid tablets.

BigBroomstickBIWI · 06/10/2012 09:44

Jax. Stay in bed and be kind to yourself. Otherwise I will have to get my big stick out again! Glad you're feeling a bit better though.

Doshusallie · 06/10/2012 09:47

Morning all.

Mrs HP very sorry to hear about your prang, what a nasty shock. Isn't that the second car accident in this thread this week? Sorry to other poster too, it's such a horrible thing to happen, really shakes you up.

Sorry to hear about all those who are poorly too.

Singing Grin wine is my nemesis. Had 2 g&ts last night and 1 glass of red. Wine deffo stalls me, gin is more forgiving.

It's THE DINNER PARTY tonight. DH has revised the menu, it's now lamb and chorizo stew, with cabbage and bacon bits. He will also do mash which I won't have and I can pick out the butter beans. The soup is roast re pepper and tomatoe so a bit too carby, and I doubt I will resist a homemade rosemary roll to go with it but overall it could be worse. I changed my mind about the tiramisu and made a coffee, toblerone frozen pudding instead, will link to it. Will resist that and have cheese. But there will be wine....

Fully expect to be back up to 9 3 on Monday, so will then spend the week getting back to 9 2......and so it continues.

Doshusallie · 06/10/2012 09:50

THE PUDDING

BigBroomstickBIWI · 06/10/2012 10:01

Could you not make yourself a celeriac or cauliflower mash? So that you're not tempted to dive into the potato mash? Although looking at that pudding, and considering there will be wine involved, I will put money on your ability to resist being very seriously challenged!

tartiflette · 06/10/2012 10:02

Doshu that menu sounds delicious. Good luck not having any pudding Wink

MrsHP what an annoying and scary thing to have happen, hope you're feeling ok now.

We are going to a birthday do in one of those godawful Japanese teppanyaki places tonight where they cook everything in front of you and you come out reeking of cooking oil ... Will endeavour to keep it protein only and stick to one or two G&Ts

cathyandclaire · 06/10/2012 10:43

That pudding looks amazing Dosh good luck with resisting a slice after some Wine has been drunk!

NewStartSameStory · 06/10/2012 11:05

wish i hadn't clicked the link to that pudding! Had the luxury of a whole 3 1/2 -4hrs sleep after a 24hr day. Just about finished doing what needs to be done today. Feel like death so will be breaking the 3 meals per day rule. I am going to go back to bed and sleep through lunch. Not the best but lost voice due to virus and asthma. So rest is now needed. If I could breathe I wouldn't feel that bad. just can't breathe. And my bum muscles hate me for all the exercise. Coach did NOT take it easy last night. Being late = hard training session. I knew this, I know this why did I forget?

B:fancy scrambled eggs.

Doshusallie · 06/10/2012 11:07

The gauntlet has been laid and I now consider it a personal challenge not to have any pudding. Gulp. Or not gulp actually.

No potato will be easy biwi, chips gave me such gut rot last weekend. I'll just have loads of cabbage.

NewStartSameStory · 06/10/2012 11:20

You'd be a better person then me, Doshu, if you manage it. that would kill my will and i would eat it. Might regret it after, but i would eat it

HumphreyCobbler · 06/10/2012 11:22

ooh. My skirt fell down just now because it is too big Grin
it is amazing how I have started to lose weight now I have given up the cheese Smile

BigBroomstickBIWI · 06/10/2012 11:32

Fab Grin

MmeLindor · 06/10/2012 11:50

Hurrah, Humphrey.

MrsHP
How are you feeling today?

Oh, that pudding looked delicious. Why oh why did I click?

Right. Last day before I go to Germany. Have the day to myself cause my mum has taken the kids rambling with her. She always says, 'Who wants to go out with me on Sat?', which gives DS the impression that he can refuse and stay home to play on his wii. Wish she would just announce it and be done.

Doing lots of writing and blog stuff, and organising a writing competition for girls this week when I should be packing, and would rather be out enjoying this lovely weather.

Bit of a funny tummy today, which is a bit worrying. Hope I am ok for tomorrow.

butterfliesinmytummy · 06/10/2012 12:06

Doshu that looks like a great menu and I love the pudding idea - Be brave, you can get through it, think of the scales!

I was out to dinner last night and felt very virtuous resisting but have people to dinner tomorrow. I am making lamb shanks, steamed veg and mash (will not eat) and the pudding is a chocolate and salted caramel torte. I made it today and it's so disgustingly rich and so far over the other side of reasonable that there is no chance of me eating it. I like to think that if I made a pavlova or similar, I would be tempted to have some cream, half a strawberry etc and I have trouble stopping once I start!!! At least with this pud, it looks like it's going to do some harm! I'll have some nice stilton instead Wink

Off to drinks tonight at a friend's - DH is taking red wine, I'm taking Perrier!

Did I mention that my social life is normally pretty quiet but as soon as I start low carbing, this is what happens!
