Week 1 Weigh-In - Little Black Dress Low Carb Boot Camp

WillieWaggledagger · 30/09/2012 16:17

i know you're all dying to get started on the low carb boot camp, and for those who haven't done this before, here is the link to the spreadsheet where you should record your starting weight for Monday 1st October in column c next to your name. Please don't touch any other columns for now

weight is recorded in lbs, so if you have problems converting from kg or stones, FiddledeFat made a handy widget which can be found in the tab at the bottom labelled 'conversion'

if your name isn't on the spreadsheet then you can add yourself by adding a new line and dragging the formulae down from an adjacent row, or just ask me to add you and I will do so as soon as i can

good luck with the first week of bootcamp!

Having dithered about doing this several times before, I am going to give it a go. Have entered my rather scary weight. Eggs and spinach for breakfast, so a good start. It's DH's birthday on Thursday though, which might present a willpower challenge.

Welcome! What are you planning to do for his birthday? Perhaps we can help you with a good strategy to maximise your willpower!

Well his main celebration was a weekend away, which has just been. On the day was planning to bake cake to eat with the DCs and then cook a delicious meal for the two of us for the evening. Meal=no problem. Lots of lovely lowcarb options. I might just find it hard to pass on the cake (and wine).

Weighed in this morning and updated sheet.
Had egg salad for breakfast, feel a bit smelly!

Lunch will probably be tuna salad. Dinner not sure but probably a beef casserole I made on Saturday. >Runs to check carb content of carrots and parnsips<

Drinking lots of water and low carbing most of the time since Friday, I am peeing and poohing a LOT but haven't lost any weight. Is that normal.. Blush

I have added myself but might have done it wrong! Have been meaning to join you all for ages but have rubbish willpower. However seeing the scales at 12 stone this morning-almost as much as when pregnant gave me the kick up the backside I really need.

Willow - NO NUTS ON BOOTCAMP!

ForSale - I'd pick out as many of the carrots and parsnips you can - they are carby veg

Report
BigStickBIWI · 01/10/2012 09:57

.... and what do you mean 'low carbing most of the time'?! This isn't a very forgiving WOE (way of eating), so if you're switching from low to high carbs, you won't be getting your body to move away from carb-burning into fat-burning mode, which is what we need to do to get the weight shifted.

Sorry BigStick lady, I had tapas on Friday night, meat and cheese only, some olives, but had a couple of glasses of red wine. Blush

Will avoid the beef stew tonight, rest of family can polish that off. Will have some fish or chicken and green veg, thanks.

You seem like a lovely person, BIWI.
Shitting myself with fear, will not eat a parsnip.

BIWI are we only on this thread now? Multiple threads is really confusing, and I don,t want to miss any chat!

I have entered on spreadsheet, lower than expected, due to falling asleep at 7.30 and skipping tea I expect!

Dinner party on Saturday, which will present a real challenge.

Brekkie was two spoons of Greek yog (finishing off tub) and 2 boiled eggs.

The hardest thing is drinking 2-3 litres of water a day: thank goodness I really like F/H tea.

Joining in. My scales need new batteries, so will have to start weighing tomorrow.

Off to make poached eggs for breakfast.

I have just entered my weight on the spreadsheet, and used the conversion gizmo for the first time - very useful and easy so thanks for that, fiddledefat!

Unfortunately despite starting my own bootcamp a week or so ago, I am still frigging 10 stone exactly. Feeling extremely frustrated. Have had boiled egg and FF mayo for breakfast.

BIWI is it a complete disaster if we drink tea as normal? (Please don't hit me with your big stick) Not that I'm totally addicted or anything Blush

Report
BigStickBIWI · 01/10/2012 10:53

pixie - it depends how much milk you're putting in it. Tea isn't a problem per se, as far as I know, but if you're sloshing milk in each cup then there are two issues. Firstly some people have issues with dairy, and it can impede weight loss. Second, the carbs will quickly add up.

Morning - splendid to see you all here.

I'm on - 160lb on the scales this morning. Have been LC'ing for a month and have seen some pleasing early effects (10lb off) but Now I Am Serious.

B: Mushroom omelette
L: Roast pork with cucumber, celery and mayo
D: Tuna and grilled aubergine and courgette salad

Recipe fans: I tried the Nigel Slater beef dish from the Observer last night and it was revolting He was rhapsodising about how one can make diced beef wondrous by pan-frying it and adding cream sauce. I suspect fried tractor tyre would have been more succulent.

Not one for the recipe thread Grin

Checking in from the Premier Inn in Christchurch. I had the mixed grill in the adjoining Beefeater last night. Had salad with it and only stole 4 chips from my husband. I also didn't eat the onion rings but I don't actually like them so that was no hardship. :) We shared a bottle of red wine and had a G and slimline T. First one since I started this diet and it was far too sweet.

Breakfast was pretty processed but nice, sausage, bacon, mushrooms and poached eggs and two pots of full fat plain yoghurt. It felt quite amazinly decadent to be taking the butter pats from the bready area to put on my eggs. Am too stuffed to move now so flumped on the bed Mumsnetting.

No idea how much I weigh but was 11 stone 2 lbs before we went away. Bet I'm not any more.
