The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

Yaay :) Thank you x

aroomofherown · 23/09/2012 21:32

OK I can do without sweet potato must give away that packet I bought today

What about kale? Am currently scoffing an entire bowl of kale crisps.

SharonGless · 23/09/2012 21:34

It sounds really strict but it honestly works and gets your body changed over from using carbs for energy to using fat.
If you cheat at all or stray off the path it won't work as quickly. If you are eating fat too, it just wont work at all as you will be on high fat with carbs.

I am on the downward spiral this week into carb creep. I will not confess all on this thread. However am waiting to get my arse kicked into shape come the 1st October

SharonGless · 23/09/2012 21:34

Kale = good

aroomofherown · 23/09/2012 21:39

Hurrah! OK I can do this. I must remember to cut back on the onions, the goats milk, the cheese, check the carbs in the mayonnaise. I think that's where I was going wrong. And the chocolate, obviously

Gah I was really cheating a lot! Shock

Thanks for the advice Thanks

BIWI · 23/09/2012 21:42

Just print out the Bootcamp rules, and the list of allowed veg, and you will be fine - honestly!

also really glad that I'm back at home and can stop cheating

I'm back from my hols now and in for the Bootcamp. I also promise to give up the Diet Coke (sob!) although you might need the big stick BIWI!

I decided not to worry about dieting on holiday but felt ENORMOUS the whole time, I think bringing carbs back in made me bloated and sluggish on top of being fat, which was clearly not a good thing.

Willowisp · 23/09/2012 22:00

Can I join please ?

Although I've just skim read the Primal diet & devised a week (or maybe 5 days!) of high fat/medium protein/low carb food starting tomorrow.

I'm 5ft 3 & 8st 5, but fatty legs & slim top half. I'm looking to fit into a couple of skirts & skinny jeans. I'm also fed up to the back teeth of being a slave to sugar - I realised that I eat it to sedate myself & I'm fed up with being tired all the time.

Aroomofherown, the advice here is great, but swap the sweet potato to butternut squash & find out the recipe for the celeriac dish mentioned.

I'd actually like to lose 7lbs....

Willowisp · 23/09/2012 22:03

Oh yes, aroomofmyown i have ketone strips to test my ketosis (to see if I get there) & will be taking 2 tsp of linseeds because I hate not being able to poo !

BIWI · 23/09/2012 22:06

Don't bother with the ketostix. If you're drinking enough water, then you won't show anything on those sticks. And also, if you're drinking enough water, and eating enough veg/salad, you won't be constipated!

Oh dear, the carbs have crept in today.

Breakfast: coffee made with lactose free milk (fewer carbs than ordinary milk and creamier tasting in a latte). One tablespoon of sugar.

4 cherry tomatoes and a chunk of cheese.

Lunch: 2 boiled eggs. Goats cheese and peppers.

Dinner: lamb, peppers, tablespoon hummous, 4 pepperdew peppers.

The peppers have got to go haven't they? And the milk? Sad

Tomorrow I'm going to go for cream in my coffee, something green and something fishy. No tomatoes?

Shagmundfreud · 23/09/2012 22:17

Whoops - that should read one teaspoon of sugar. Even I don't have enough of a sweet tooth to need a tablespoon of sugar in my coffee!

Willowisp · 23/09/2012 22:18

I'll let my body get used to the "new way of eating" first. I started the Nerys Idiotproof diet & was constipated by the evening...in fact it i was beyond constipated, I had a week of piles to recover from Blush Sad

Also keen to reduce my body fact, which is at 27% & cholesterol 4.9

Shagmundfreud · 23/09/2012 22:19

Kale crisps. Where can I get them from?

HumphreyCobbler · 23/09/2012 22:23

I am going to go back to Bootcamp tomorrow and am writing this as a pledge to myself Grin It has all been a bit stressful today and I reverted to emotional eating of cake and toast. It didn't even taste very nice. What a waste.

I will be cutting out cheese and cream as i feel dairy may be stopping my weight loss.

I have a day of teaching this week, there is no way I will be able to drink enough water. I am weeing every twenty minutes at the moment, this is not sustainable in a classroom situation!

BIWI · 23/09/2012 22:24

Yep - the peppers could be a problem. But - the sugar is more of a problem, even if it is only a teaspoon! Also the tomatoes and the hummous.

Willowisp. You can't possibly get constipated on the same evening that you start low carbing! Eat plenty of fat, drink lots of water and make sure you are getting your carbs from veg and salad and not from processed foods.

Willowisp · 23/09/2012 23:06

Er, yes I can & did. And with the utmost respect, I know my bowels better than you.

So, linseeds it is Smile

Liveinthepresent · 23/09/2012 23:15

I am starting to get nervous... No milk? No caffeine?

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/09/2012 23:18

Oh, I had no idea that haemorrhoids could appear within 8 ours of a change in diet...

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/09/2012 23:19
  • hours not ours
cartblanche · 23/09/2012 23:19

OK I'm in (again) I was on a previous bootcamp thread under a different name. Have just lost a stone and need to lose another 3. Been experimenting with Intermittent Fasting (5:2) but feel it's making me lose the discipline for longterm weightloss (may revisit it when I am down to a healthy BMI).

honeytoast · 23/09/2012 23:21

I am in

BIWI · 23/09/2012 23:25

Sorry, Willowisp, but that's daft. You may not have been to the loo, but that doesn't mean you are constipated.

Jacaqueen · 24/09/2012 08:31

Those still having milk try Lactofree. It has half the carbs of normal milk and I can't tell the difference in my morning cuppa. It does still have carbs so you have to monitor who much you use.

You have to make kale crisps yourself. Get a bag of kale coat in olive oil roast in oven till it starts to go brown, remove and sprinkle with sea salt. Really healthy, low carb and guaranteed to get things moving if you are constipated.
