The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

Can you do a link to boot camp light please. Smile

BornToShopForcedToWork · 17/09/2012 22:15

I want to join!
Trying to lose 2 stone by Christmas to look fabulous when I go to NYC and I want to buy lots of new clothes there. I booked Premium Economy flights so I can take 46kg of luggage with me. My current weight is 13 st 3 lbs.

happy2bhomely · 17/09/2012 22:20

I'm in. Last christmas I put on a stone and I've not shifted it since. I cannot be another stone heavier this time next year.

I'm 5'9 and last time I checked I was 12 stone 10. I am a size 14 and feel really uncomfortable. By Christmas I want to lose 2 stone.

BIWI · 17/09/2012 22:29

Me me me need to lose at least a stone!!

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/09/2012 23:16

Marking place - I'm in!

dietstartsmonday · 18/09/2012 08:43

right having looked at the rules, its gonna be breakfast i struggle with. What are you all having in the morning?

BIWI · 18/09/2012 08:48

You'll only have to struggle with it for a couple of weeks, dietstartsmonday - when we move to Bootcamp Light you can choose when you're going to eat, as long as you continue to make good, low carb choices.

For me, my breakfasts are either eggs of some kind (boiled, poached, scrambled, hard boiled mashed with mayo, usually - occasionally a cheese omelette or bacon and eggs). On days when I go to the gym, at stupid o'clock, I have a bowl of full fat Total yoghurt, with some vanilla extract - gives me protein and fat, and is easy and doesn't involve any cooking.

I'm in! Have lost my 5lb holiday weight gain and am 170lb but want to be 147 by Christmas.

BIWI · 18/09/2012 08:56

Yay!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/09/2012 09:01

me, Im in.

going on holiday with my 3 friends (super slinky) and I am not.

I am trying, but not hard enough.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/09/2012 09:02

I have lost a couple of the pounds gained during summer holidays in Scotland so that is a good thing, but we have been socialising a LOT lately and I think I might become a recluse for a while.

MagicLlamaStrikesBack · 18/09/2012 09:06

Im in. I need shouting at. I did lose a bit of weight but a bloody family crisis has made me put it all back on.

This is the first time ive tried dieting alongside MN though so hopefully it will work Hmm

toysoldiers · 18/09/2012 09:08

I'm in! Joined boot camp before the summer hols but then it all went wrong. - so I may still be on the spreadsheet. Wink

Have been Briffaring for 10 days now and lost 6lbs. DH has also joined me and lost 10.

Think by 1st October I will need a jolt in my motivation so this could be the very thing.

Pretty sure I need to tackle the dairy thing

BIWI · 18/09/2012 09:12

Don't worry, Magic, I will be doing lots of shouting Grin

Welcome back Jax and toysoldiers! We can do this.

is this do-able without exercising particularly? (my target - to lose a stone)

BIWI · 18/09/2012 10:04

Yes. Absolutely.

From everything I've read, exercise can help, but only minimally. Around 85% is diet, 15% is exercise.

You have to work really, really hard to burn off lots of calories. So far better, if you can't devote the time to that amount of exercise, to focus on your diet.

The other thing is, you don't have to wait until 1 October. You could start Bootcamp now. Including this week, there are 14 weeks until Christmas - a pound a week would be your stone!

Do i need to buy the briffa book?

BIWI · 18/09/2012 10:43

No - but if you can borrow it, it's a very good read. It's a really good idea, if you're low carbing for the first time, to have some idea of the theory behind it. As well as Briffa's book, I would also suggest getting hold of any/all of the following:

Dr Atkins "The New Diet Revolution"
Dr Charles Clark "The New High Protein Diet"
India Knight/Neris Thomas "The Idiot Proof Diet"

BIWI · 18/09/2012 10:43

Oh, if you have a Kindle, Escape the Diet Trap is currently selling for £3.99

Creamtea1 · 18/09/2012 11:21

Back in, half a stone by end November would be great

NigellasGuest · 18/09/2012 11:48

That's great news for me, BIWI. I had no idea the percentages were that weighted towards diet. Why do you exercise so much, just outof interest? Is it because it makes you feel so much better? For general health, presumably?

Right - I think I am going to start my LBD Bootcamp now as you suggest. Exactly 14 weeks with a week = a lb. Even I can do the maths here!

topsi · 18/09/2012 12:25

eeek, marking my place. Have been low carbing for a couple of months now with good effect but will try and boot camp for a couple of weeks.
I need to cut out my berries and nuts and cut down on lovely cheese for a while.

ihatethecold · 18/09/2012 13:27

im going to struggle to not eat any fruit!
whats the rule with dairy. milk-skimmed? semi skimmed? whole?
low fat cottage cheese?

can i really live on eggs for 2 weeks Grin
