The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

I'm going to ease myself into this week.
Have had two eggs scrammbled for breakfast and walked the dog (pouring here).

I've also bioled tow eggs to make a (potato free) nicoise at lunch time.

Is eating all these eggs really healthy? I fear not but hey ho.

ZZZenAgain · 24/09/2012 09:54

I've been low carbing as a lifestyle thing since I started in summer but had to take a break yesterday to eat some of dd's birthday cake. It was delicious (if I say so myself) but wow I felt weird afterwards, all shakey and bloated and really felt like vomitting it up. I suppose I am not used to the sugar anymore. There was no weird crap in it or bad eggs, just my body freaking out at the sugar overdose I think.

So now I've had something with a lot of sugar and flour in it, how long would it take my body to readjust and get back into low carb mode? Is it like starting from scratch again or do you swing back into it in a day or so, anyone know?

cathyandclaire · 24/09/2012 09:56

Hi! Can I join please? Don't have a huge amount of weight to lose (I'm 5'3, 8st 7 after cutting back and sort of low carb for the last month) but my body fat was just measured at 32%, aaaghhhh! I am nearly a third flab! So I"m trying to lose a bit of weight (5lb or so) but mostly i want to get rid of fat.

Really hoping this with weights at the gym will help. Has anyone checked their body fat and had success?

BIWI · 24/09/2012 10:05

wordfactory - no problem with eating eggs at all. Although it might get a bit boring after a while!

ZZZenAgain - if you've been low carbing for a while, you will be ketogenically adapted, i.e. your body has shifted to burning fat rather than carbs. One lapse like yesterday will not suddenly stop this - you will be able to shift back to fat burning pretty quickly.

Welcome, cathyandclaire - great name! I haven't checked my body fat. I didn't want to know Blush!

After much messing about on my behalf... I am restarting bootcamp here, today!

I must say im nervous as ive noticed this past week how much of an emotional eater i actually am... So i need to keep it in check!! Any tips???

BIWI · 24/09/2012 10:20

Make sure you don't get hungry - this should help. And if you're low carbing properly, then you should keep your appetite in check. Emotional eating is, I know, a different matter - but if you know what your triggers are, that helps - and just make sure that if you do eat anything, that it's low carb. So get rid of anything that you're likely to go for if it's too high in carbs. Make sure you don't have any biscuits/chocolate/sweets, or whatever, in the house!

Well I paid for my carb n wine blow-out this weekend by being 1.5 lb up this week dammit.

Actually fasting today so no breakfast, lettuce and chicken for lunch.

OrangeKat · 24/09/2012 12:47

Yes please, I think I'd like to join and I'll bring dh with me too.
We're doing well with the lifestyle change but we're starting to suffer the carb-creep so a couple of hardcore weeks should help to put it back .
I think I've lost between 1 1/2 and 2 stone over the summer ( not weighing myself otherwise I obsess too much) and I'd like to get another 1/2 stone off.

Themumsnot · 24/09/2012 13:56

Can I join? I have four stone to lose - I cut out wheat and sugar two weeks ago and have lost six pounds already, but bootcamp seems like the way to go.

BIWI · 24/09/2012 14:04

Welcome, OrangeKat and Themumsnot!

CaptainMugwash · 24/09/2012 14:39

Hello

Can I please join? I lost 7lb low carbing in January but put it all back on, and I know I feel so ill when I eat wheat. The trouble I find is I don't plan ahead and have suitable meals / snacks ready, so I end up getting over hungry and scoffing a sandwich or giving in when my 'carott cake & cappuccino klaxon' goes off at 4pm! I have just started working again and need a proper plan for my food, I feel so cold all the time though and salads at lunch aren't appealing atm. Is there any low carb soups we can have? Ready made if possible as cooking time is limited while I build my business up. I also need to stop it with the wine. Seriously, it is just silly and the cause of my pot belly, but it tastes sooo goood!

PrincessSparkle86 · 24/09/2012 15:11

Welcome to the newbies Grin

BIWI thanks for the advice!! Ill have to stick up on low carb snacks- must get some more pork scratchings!!
I do stock the crisps and choc biccies because DP and the boys all eat it.. So i just need to teach myself to stay off it :/

BornToShopForcedToWork · 24/09/2012 15:57

Does anybody of you have a weight loss blog? I've just started mine but would like to know if others write one too. NJ

BIWI · 24/09/2012 16:10

I have thought about it - but don't know when I'd find the time, in between MN, facebook, Twitter ... Grin

I'm in Wine

noddyholder · 24/09/2012 16:56

I'm in need to lose some have had a greedy summer and can't seem to get back on track. Have started several times this month and then gave up so this will motivate me!

Willowisp · 24/09/2012 17:34

Biwi, your gonna love this - but seeing as you are interested, the poo won't come out. I've actually been in hospital with it. (now you know me intimately Blush )

Anyway, back to today...bought macadamiese (sp?) babybel (instead of satsuma) & about to throw together low carb tea. (Apparently I look dreadful, but maybe because I have no make-up on). Feel fine though, just had a brisk walk, as was feeling chilly BUT no energy slump - thank goodness !

BIWI · 24/09/2012 18:27

Thank you for sharing, Willowisp Grin

Keep the fat levels up, and also the water - both should help.

WineGless · 24/09/2012 18:28

What veg are you having willowisp?

Twirls round with her new name-anyone recognize me?!

Doshusallie · 24/09/2012 18:35

Loving that WineGless! I see what you did there! Inspired. Grin

I am now the proud owner of 2 enormous buckets of Lidl greek style yoghurt.

aroomofherown · 24/09/2012 18:39

CaptainMugwash I get ill on wheat too. And weirdly my back aches when I eat wheat, but doesn't when I don't. And I get sluggish. Ugh.

Kale crisps (my new treat instead of buttery popcorn): Buy a packet of kale, put in plastic bag with olive oil and cover it all, spread on a baking tray, add salt and bake for 10 mins. Incredibly delicious.

Willowisp thanks for the tips! Will check out the celeriac mash and squash.

Doshusallie · 24/09/2012 19:22

A room - for the stupid among us (me) - I assume you take the kale out of the plastic bag before putting in oven? This is a genuine question....

BIWI · 24/09/2012 19:35

Grin Unless you're a fan of melted plastic, I would say you should remove it from said bag!

Just made a fabulous (if I say so myself) mash - half a small cauliflower, (broken into florets), half a small celeriac (chopped into inch-square cubes), a couple of leeks (sliced), all boiled until tender, then mashed with a hand blender. Add large lump of butter and a bit of cream - season well with sea salt and black pepper.

OP posts:
aroomofherown · 24/09/2012 19:35

Yes, it's quite a good idea Wink. Just put them in the bag to coat the kale leaves then take them out and spread them on the baking tray. Try them, they are so incredibly moreish, the first time I tried them I couldn't put the bowl down and ate the whole thing before breakfast!

noddyholder · 24/09/2012 19:44

I need to get supplies in! I have fallen off the wagon quite spectacularly the last few days I feel quite ill with all the rubbish!
