The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

Welcome all even though Bootcamp official guest start till Monday.
Willowisp, how much water are you having? When you say quarts? Litres? Should be 2-3 litres a day

Squash is very sweet and I would imagine high in carbs compared to other veg.

You can't go wrong with any green veg really. I fried leeks and mushrooms together last night with a good splash of sour cream- yummy!
Whatever veg you have try and have some fat with it as the vitamins in veg release only if you eat with fat. There are official science explanation for this but can't link on this phone

Willowisp · 25/09/2012 19:40

yes, sorry, I decided over the weekend to get going, but i think another couple of days & I'll be bootcamp lighting.

125g has 10g of carbs...a bit of a large portion yesterday Blush. will limit it to 50g next time.

will try onions(no leeks)/mushrooms/sour cream tomorrow.

just going to print off my 'can have' list.

ref water, constantly peeing but haven't been measuring...will take note from now on.

WineGless · 25/09/2012 19:50

Also shallots are less carby than onions so try replacing to reduce carbs further.

Keep posting everything you are eating and we can give you tips.

I buy a 750ml water bottle and refill it 4 times then I know i have had 3 litres- may help? I get lost on glasses of water. Also it's easier to drink more out of bottles- read that somewhere

BIWI · 25/09/2012 19:52

Willowisp - have you got the list of allowed veg to hand? You should be focussing on those veg which are 3g per 100g or less for the first couple of weeks.

Instead of onions, use shallots - they are less than half the amount of carbs.

And don't count calories! Honestly, you don't need to if you're low carbing.

I would say you need to shave about another 20g carbs off your daily total for Bootcamp. You will probably do that easily by getting rid of the fruit juice! (Fruit juice is a real no no if you're low carbing - even if you have diluted it)

Had turnip dauphinoise for tea - dp and dses had sausages too but noticed they are 10% carbs! So had more broc instead. Turnip in cream - what's not to like? Doesn't even taste remotely turnip-y.

Half-bottle of red wine calling from fridge - fancy some with my bath, but know I shouldn't.

Willowisp · 25/09/2012 20:15

damn it ! I've done my shopping & have a big bag on onions..

I'm just trying to print out the list, so will carry with me next week...& put this week down to experience...

yes, great idea about water bottle...I'm on it !

Not especially counting calories (interested in how much to fill me up) & actually couldn't eat another thing...mind you...stick a choc brownie under my nose & I may rethink this Grin

WineGless · 25/09/2012 20:36

We are doing Bootcamp proper from Monday so maybe just use this week as a trial run!
Honestly when you get into it you are so full between meals that you wouldn't even haves a brownie.
Also have you read the idiot proof diet? If not can highly recommend - worth try g to get one out of the library.

BIWI - i am going. To start transferring recipes from the thread onto the low carb section this week ignoring the fact I should be studying

WillieWaggledagger · 25/09/2012 20:50

gosh winegless that's noble of you!

right here is the link to the spreadsheet (fingers crossed) it should be editable, but please don't touch the blue columns. just shout if there are any problems accessing

i think i've added anyone who to date has posted on this thread - please let me know if i've missed anyone or made any errors. i will update with any later joiners in one go on sunday night

i've also linked up the previous data where i can. if there are any namechangers who were on previous spreadsheets and are happy to make themselves known then just let me know and i'll link that up too. likewise if anyone would like me to remove their previous data just shout (e.g. those who previously started using the 100 figure might feel it's a bit meaningless)

monday's weigh-in will go in the column 'starting weight (lbs)'

does this make sense? let me know if i've made any daft errors

WillieWaggledagger · 25/09/2012 20:52

oh, and there are tabs at the bottom, with fiddle's fabulous lb/st/kg conversion widget, allowed veg list and the rules (but these are the old rules, so BIWI just let me know if you'd like me to remove/update this)

SkaffenAmtiskaw · 25/09/2012 21:25

Thanks Willie, that's great! :)
I can't see the tabs at the bottom though...

SkaffenAmtiskaw · 25/09/2012 21:26

Ignore me Blush, have just found the tabs BlushBlush

BIWI · 25/09/2012 21:46

Willie you are an absolute star! Thank you Thanks

If you could copy over the new rules that would be brilliant.

here is the link to the rules

And WineGless (love the new name!) Thanks

I get the distinct feeling that people are looking forward to Monday!!!

Willowisp · 25/09/2012 21:47

that's great, thanks !

(where do we stand on herbal tea, btw ? can't find carb info anywhere..)

BIWI · 25/09/2012 21:56

I think most herbal teas are zero or very low carb - but you will need to check the individual packets

OP posts:
BIWI · 25/09/2012 21:56

I think herbal teas are, like ordinary tea, zero carbs - but I don't that for a fact (and it's possible that fruit teas/flavoured teas may have carbs in them). You'll have to check the individual packets.

BIWI · 25/09/2012 21:56

My first post disappeared, so I wrote another one. Why the first one has now reappeared I have no idea!

MsRinky · 25/09/2012 22:06

Ooh, add me please. I will be reporting on my six month weigh-in tomorrow.

CaptainMugwash · 25/09/2012 22:14

Hi, thanks for the crispy kale tip! Am a total crisp head so will look forward to it. I'm using this as a trial week too, trying to get my head around it all.

So yesterday I had 4 (!) chipolatas for brekkie / lunch, then made the beef bourgignon from Dukan recipe book, except it looked a bit sorry when it was just the beef and stock in the casserole dish so I stuck a bit of bacon in, & slung the mushrooms & onion in for the full cooking time instead of 1/2 hr before the end. It was completely yummy, ate with broccoli and a little courgette, and took leftovers for lunch! Tea was chicken breast stuffed with goats cheese and sun dried tomato, sugar snaps and garlic mushrooms.

Feel more satisfied with my food than I have in ages, didn't even think about cake today! Will see how much the wine bottle is calling to me by thursday...

Liveinthepresent · 26/09/2012 07:36

Am planning an online shop today in readiness for official start on Monday - can anyone give me a quick list of Bootcamp store cupboard essentials - I have the veg list - its more stuff that is good to have handy for throwing meals together - I am thinking -
Butter
Cream?
Total yoghurt
Eggs
....

halfthesize · 26/09/2012 08:17

Hi everyone really looking forward to Monday to get started/motivatedGrin

Thanks for the spreadsheet and rules willie and BIWI

I have just discovered a new tea by Tetley, its a mix of black and green tea, really really nice.

Smile
cathyandclaire · 26/09/2012 08:36

Just looked at the spreadsheet and all the info....I am sooooooo impressed Shock thanks Thanks with such levels of organisation the weight is sure to tumble off! (although NOT if I continue troughing the dark chocolate and red wine like I did last night Blush)
Monday can't come too soon, I need the discipline!

WillieWaggledagger · 26/09/2012 08:41

msrinky, have added you...

have added the new bootcamp rules too

Willowisp · 26/09/2012 10:22

Have checked my herb tea packets & no info there, none on google &. I even scanned them on mfp...no info. So gonna assume ok.

Biwi - you'll be pleased to know had a good number 2 today Grin

Had 'light boot camp' fruit for brekkie (6g carb) & splodge of creme fraiche.

Cajun salmon salad for lunch.

Water bottle at the ready.

Am loving the support group here..
