New thread for those of us who need a little kick every now and again. Remind me of your reasons for doing this again? I need to be a healthy weight for possibly the first time in my adult life.
We all have blips. Days, sometimes even weeks off. And the scales stay the same or even go up. But long term, you should be losing weight and learning new habits to maintain. Think of it like house prices - they fluctuate and go down as well as up (apparently they do go up!). But over a long period of time you're unlikely to regret buying a house.
welcome yoghurt :) you'll find all the support and virtual kicks up the bum you need here.

Ooops, posted too soon and ate dp's dairy milk mint bubble chocolate within mins of walking though front door. Shit. I'm going to have to eat the rest, it's the only way to stop me eating it tomo, it's just not safe...

LollipopViolet · 02/10/2012 18:13

Step aerobics and swiss ball classes for me tomorrow - looking forward to them as I've not tried them at this gym yet :) Might be quite achy after though!

On a completely different note - I watched Top Gun for the first time yesterday.

reastie · 02/10/2012 18:18

lollipop absolutely love step aerobics but it's never at a time I can go at the minute Envy - let me know what it's like. FWIW I've never seen top gun Shock

milkshake step away from the dairy milk!

stealth how are you going?

Things generally OK here. Felt really ill at work this morning like I was getting a big but then ate lunch and felt fine - think I must've just been really hungry Blush . Went to the gym and burnt 460 kcals Grin , but it's the only time for a week I can get there as working some evenings and also at the week end in the week ahead. Really really want to get into the next stone bracket for christmas. Oh, and I've ordered a new dress from boden and mine are hanging off me a bit - I was a snug size 22 at boden a few months ago. I've ordered a dress in 18 and 20......crossing fingers madly the 18 fits but think that may be a bit ambitious Hmm . Will update tomorrow when hopefully it arrives Grin

Oh, and on the willpower front DH bought a huge bag of sweet popcorn at the week end and sat eating the whole bag in front of me. It smelt sooooooo good . He offered me some and I had 3 bits of popcorn and that was it - just 3 teeny tiny bits. They were absolutely delish but goodness me it was hard to resist and not eat more!

KatoPotato · 02/10/2012 20:47

Hey guys! Our gym is finally reopened after a refurb and the cardio wave has gone!! Been replaced by a similar machine that's like an elliptical but still a stepper?

How in earth do you burn over 400cals?? I'm there for 50miins cardio and weights and the cal counter is lucky to be 250 on checking out!

MilkshakeMaker · 03/10/2012 07:21

Morning, I'm hoping that was my only slip up of the week, was going to ride to work to try make up for it but it's pouring with rain and I'm just not that hardcore! Lol.

Hope today goes smoothly for everyone, what sort of Wednesday are we having?

reastie · 03/10/2012 07:43

kato I do about 40 mins cardio and 20 mins weights. I do this will be incredibly dull for everyone 12 mins on treadmill going up hill quite alot, 8 mins on the wave stepper, 7 mins on an arm machine cardio thingy, 6 mins on regular stepper, 45 reps each on 3 different arm/chest type weight machines, 45 reps on a leg machine and the plank. I do about 300 kcals on cardio and the rest is strength and my program is all done by the gym so they do all the levels etc so it's resistance?? training (hard level then easier level to recover) with cardio. I have no idea how easy/hard my work out is compared to the average person though, I certainly don't feel that fit!

I'm having a we will do it wednesday Grin

InfinityWelcomesCarefulDrivers · 03/10/2012 08:52

I like we will do it Wednesday, and yay to New dresses and your other ones hanging off you!

I am doing ok thanks, 700 cals yesterday, same today is the plan but will be home tonight so oppotinities to snack. Need wilpower!

TheOneWithTheHair · 03/10/2012 09:35

Morning everyone. I'm feeling good today. The sun is shining for a change and it's really lifted my spirits. I've had two really bad days food wise but I feel it's going to be better today.

I've also done three successful days of stoptober (longest I've gone since being pregnant) and I've started to notice the difference. I smelled gas on the way to school this morning and IMST told me that it has always smelled of gas there. I've just never been able to smell it before. Blush Here's to a healthier me. :)

KatoPotato · 03/10/2012 09:49

Morning everyone! Well done hair on stopping! I only smoke when drinking and this is rare!

reastie I'm impressed! I do 24 reps on six different machines set to an average of 25kgs... No idea what the the calorie burn is but ten mins elliptical 10min on the new cardio wave and 10mins cool down on treadmill usually equals about a twix!!! Even though I do feel I'm working hard! I've stopped counting it towards eating back for this reason!!

Pilates tonight so v excited!

TheOneWithTheHair · 03/10/2012 11:21

Kato I used to want to do that. Unfortunately I can't be a social smoker. It's all or nothing for me so I've decided to try nothing. :)

InMySpareTime · 03/10/2012 18:17

Hi everyone,
It's all gone a bit quiet on here, where's everyone gone?
I saw a thread earlier about the govt recommended 2000 cals a day as a flawed "one size fits all" approach, I wondered if the same logic applied to MFP telling people off for eating less than 1200 cals a day. I am only 5', I feel full eating about 1100 cals a day, I don't see why I need to go over a notional number to avoid "starvation", and I have been losing weight slowly and steadily for months now.
What's your take on it?

InfinityWelcomesCarefulDrivers · 03/10/2012 20:03

Hi everyone. So far this week gping well, willpower seems back. I have little time for this starvation mode stuff, I can't believe its as widespread as seems to be thought.

TheOneWithTheHair · 03/10/2012 20:33

I'm sceptical about starvation mode too. Without wanting to offend anyone if it were true, supermodels would look like me be fat!!

Good morning all. Sorry, have been awol for ages - weeks- as have been too dispirited about weightloss and everything. Have cancelled my weightwatchers sub and plan to try slimming world. Just for something different and to see if that 'fits'. I found the points counting to be depressing. Have bought the new slimming world magazine and plan to try the 7 day menu. Does anyone know how many syns a glass of wine is?

will go back now and read the thread. Hope everyone is fine. :)

reastie · 04/10/2012 08:29

nochips I know a few people who have done really well on SW and say they are less hungry than when following WW, so fingers crossed for you

Re: starvation, I have no strong opinions on others doing it but I think different things work for different people and I know for me it wouldn't be practical and I'd personally really struggle with it.

hair hope stoptober is still going well for you - well done on so far

nochipsthanks · 04/10/2012 09:17

Thanks reastie. I was hungry all the time on WW. And went over my points all the time, and I am not a chocolate or dessert eater so it was depressing. I have just had a SW breakfast of two eggs, milk in my coffee and two slices of toast. I would never have had that on WW- way too many points, and I feel satisfied and think I can last until lunchtime!

Good luck hair for stopober. :)

Nice one eighty! Eggs are awesome!

Pilates was amazing, two minute straight plank on toes, no knee drops!

Weigh in day tomorrow and I bet because I've been so virtuous, maintain or gain!!

InfinityWelcomesCarefulDrivers · 04/10/2012 10:01

well done eighty :o
Kato, ikwym. Don't let it put you off if it is though - long term you are losing!
I am back down to 11st11, after going up from 11st10 to 12st2 during my binge period. I felt so bloated and awful that I suspected it would come off very quickly. Annoying that I'm only back where I started, but hopeful that I will now continue to lose. I'm still hoping for 11st-ish by end of October but probably a few pounds above 11st rather thana few lb below as I hoped - still will be really good though :)

InfinityWelcomesCarefulDrivers · 04/10/2012 10:02

I agree with eggs, have one scrambled for breakfast most mornings and I don't think you get anything more filling for 70 cals!

MilkshakeMaker · 04/10/2012 11:59

Eggs are a staple in my diet too, though only ever seems to be scrambled because fried eggs just aren't the same when using fry light.

I've been naughty and had a packet of crisps, salt and vinegar Mccoys just had to be done, I'm half way through scrubbing my flat top to bottom though and when finished will be walking to my sisters which is about a 50 min walk so think I'll be alright

Hello NoChips good to have you back, well done for moving on to something different instead of giving up, are you going to go to the groups?

nochipsthanks · 04/10/2012 12:26

Thanks Milkshake. I think I will go to groups. The first one is tonight but i cannot go as DH is on lateshift and no-one for the DCs. So I am doing the 7 day plan in the latest magazine and will go next week. :)

KatoPotato · 04/10/2012 12:39

Milkshake I lost weight eating McCoys last week!!

reastie · 04/10/2012 12:59

Had to share. remember I ordered a new boden dress but wasn't sure what size I was now? Well, they arrived today - now, at the beginning of July I was a snug size 22. Today....I fitted into the size 18 and it zipped up and fitted and everything . Unfortunately it's going back as the style didn't suit my shape, but that has nothing to do with the fact that it nonetheless fits me Grin

Losing weight eating McCoys? I like the sound of that!
