I've just joined slimming world, today is day 2.

Please can all those who have joined please come along and share your experiences, what you have eaten today, goals and cheer each other on?

I did ww 4yrs ago and lost 3.5 stone, this time I'm aiming to lose about 1.5 stone by christmas.

Today I've eaten a huge fruit salad and natural yogurt breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and I'm having jacket potato, salad and steak for dinner followed by all my syns on alcohol with dh as it's our wedding anniversary this week.

My friend made a lovely dish last night esp for me.Brown rice cooked in stock with leeks, onions, cabbage, celery, mushrooms and lentils. It was delicious and very filling. Only downside was the ahem anti social effects overnight (parp) luckily the baby woke up at 4 and it was dh's turn so he vacated the bed Grin
Going to get prepared for the weekend and have lovely things to hand so as to avoid temptation. Dh on lates so i wont be drinking alone as that would be sad so i may treat myself to some dark chocolate. Will also do some swimming and walking with the dd's.

Ragwort · 21/09/2012 09:28

Well done ledkr, you sound really focussed. I agree that the key thing is to have some really yummy meals to look forward to. I shall be on my own on Sat night so I am planning home made burger (low fat steak mince) with jacket potato wedges and a big salad .............. and my choice of TV afterwards Grin.
Slipped up on the exercise a couple of days this week as I have been feeling rough with bad headaches (nothing to do with SW) but at least I didn't turn to comfort eating. Delighted to get into a pair of jeans yesterday that I haven't been able to do up for the last 3 months !

ledkr · 21/09/2012 09:33

Thanks rag,I also wore some previously tight jeans to work feeling all skinny (obviously im not) Grin
I am focussed yes because I really cant go on with this feeling,I used to be so confident and that has all gone now,I make constant self depreciating comments about myself and hate social situations.Im not even that big, just a 16 but I hate it.
Very sad.

That jeans feeling is great - here's hoping I get that next week!

I'm having steak and SW chips with mushrooms and grilled tomatoes for tea. I had forgotten how much I like SW!!!! Tomorrow was going to be take-away (chinese) but I think I may be extra good and make a chinese from the booklet with this months magazine. Did my shop today instead of Sunday morning so that I have lots of good stuff in for the weekend!

Have a good weekend everyone!

ledkr · 21/09/2012 17:47

Its been a bit of a weird day,was so busy that I ended up picking at dd's chips (only a few) instead of eating lunch. I have got dinner prepared but baby is whingey so I thought id wait until bedtime to eat it.
Disaster then struck as I was so hungry I ate 2 pieces of sodding toast and butter.
I must remember to eat properly.
So today is b'fast-sw brekkie eggs bacon etc all free.
8 chips and some toast. Then tonight Im having free casserole and baked spud.
Not terrible as yet but not great either.

prettyontheinside · 21/09/2012 17:50

ledkr - star jumps for you! don't beat yourself up. save a few syns from next few days. x

ledkr · 21/09/2012 18:00

Yes I will. We are out for the day (with healthy packed lunch) and I have nice free curry for tea and I havent been drinking.

I am not very partial to star jumps btw Grin

Lost 1lb this week Smile Hoping to lose another this coming week, which will take mean I will have lost a stone....

BikeRunSki · 21/09/2012 18:34

Oh glad I found this thread! I had a medical yesterday and found out that I am heavier than I have ever been and a good two stone heavier than I ought to be. I am going to SW next Thursday with my friend. I have lost significant amounts of weight before, but never with a club. I am in the last week of C2 5K, goodness knows what I weighed before I started.

BikeRunSki · 21/09/2012 18:35

So can someone tell me how it works? What are syns?

BikeRunSki · 21/09/2012 22:12

Anyone?

OrangecatinGoldboots · 22/09/2012 13:30

check out the SW website Bike - it has loads of info on there.

There are three main plans to pick from, but most of us are doing Extra Easy. There is a liust of Superfree foods. At every meal you must fill 1/3 of your plate with superfree food. Then there are free foods - mostly grains, meat, pasta, rice which you can eat as much as you want of.

You pick two healthy extras a day. One is cereal or bread based. The other is milk or cheese.

Then everything else has a syn value. You are allowed 5-15 syns a day.

It sounds complicated but it's not - it's dead easy to follow

LovingTheSunshine · 22/09/2012 20:15

Hi everyone
I.m on Extra Easy. What I find confusing is that if you have to fill your plate with 1/3 of super free & the remaking 2/3 with free then how can you eat as much free as you want? Am I missing something? Thanks :)

ProudNeathGirl · 22/09/2012 20:44

Agree sunshine. I started last Wednesday and finding it a bit confusing. Just doing my own thing at the moment, and will ask the mentor to explain again next week.
You seem to be able to eat whatever you want....?

ledkr · 23/09/2012 18:03

I know what you mean about it being complicated.I dont really get it either but I guess on ratio it works out so if you have say 50g of pasta and 50g of meat then you would have 50g of super free, so if you have a million g of pasta then likewise iyswim.
As for the what you give up then it does become apparent as time goes by.
Today I have fallen off the wagon and had a non sw roast {cooked potatoes in oil,had gravy and followed it with choc cake and cream. Obviously normally id not have been able to have that.
Back on track tomorrow I suppose.Im such a mare at the weekends Hmm

Ragwort · 23/09/2012 19:21

I've found it difficult since last night - I was sooo good for 10 days - then I had a burning desire for a hot cross bun Blush, also tempted by those 'star' crisps that are being advertised on TV all the time ......... then a glass or three of wine. I am still feeling poorly so craving comfort food.

Haven't been too bad so far today and planning a comforting supper of jacket potato, baked beans and low fat sausages .... weigh in tomorrow - hope the beans work Grin.

Riadiculous · 23/09/2012 21:18

I'm doing OK, but I could easily get bored with all the eating and cooking! I am very crap at food when I'm not following some kind of "diet plan"...

Riadiculous · 23/09/2012 21:19

have done incredibly well with weekend temptations though

Justtheonemore · 24/09/2012 11:37

Hi. Lurking MNetter but thought i'd take the plunge and join you.

Joined SW just over 2 weeks ago and ive lost 9lbs so far. Im really happy with this start but after having DC4 & 5 in the space of 11months (DC5 is 9weeks old) I have truly piled the weight on and have a long way to go (3st 7lbs Sad)

Im just wondering, I know its a sensible eating plan and therefore I wont be losing a huge amounts of weight in a matter of a few weeks but is losing 1.5 - 2lbs a week hoping for too much??

Ragwort · 24/09/2012 12:04

Just weighed in and lost 2lb so very pleased after my not so good Saturday Grin.

Just - that's a fantastic weight loss so far; if you stick to the plan sensibly you can certainly lose 1.5-2;bs a week.

cowboylover · 24/09/2012 20:41

Well done Ragwort!

I am really pleased after 2 weeks on holiday to have also lost 2lb and got my stone award.

I need to try and get more consistency as going up and down with just under a lb a week average.

deemented · 25/09/2012 06:29

Hi all,

Sorry to have not been around for a few days - life got in the way somewhat!

I've been to weigh in and lost 4.5lbs this week, which i'm happy with. Weigh in again next weds night. Feeling a bit 'meh' about it to be honest. My motivation seems to have ridden off into the sunset. I know i need to lose weight, and i do want to, i guess i want one of those magic wands that'll do it for me - don't we all?

Manshape seems to have one - though he's not sharing with me! He lost 12.5lbs his first week, 5lbs his second week and last nights weigh in he was 6.5lbs lighter - thats an amazing 24lbs off in just three weeks!!! Am incredibly proud of him - and maybe a little jealous too - and you can really see it as well - his jeans are getting really loose and he's looking well for it. He got slimmer of the week these past two weeks and got slimmer of the month last night too. He's so motivated and i'm so happy for him Smile

Riadiculous · 25/09/2012 09:00

well done to dee and mrdee -FABSmile. That's what happens to my motivation to dee (it's all the dratted cooking!). WI for me tomorrow.

well done on all lossesSmile
