I've just joined slimming world, today is day 2.

Please can all those who have joined please come along and share your experiences, what you have eaten today, goals and cheer each other on?

I did ww 4yrs ago and lost 3.5 stone, this time I'm aiming to lose about 1.5 stone by christmas.

Today I've eaten a huge fruit salad and natural yogurt breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and I'm having jacket potato, salad and steak for dinner followed by all my syns on alcohol with dh as it's our wedding anniversary this week.

Oooh, hello Ria :o

Yup, tis I! Still trying to lose weight

I've lost a couple of pounds so far since Monday wqhich is pleasing me. I've opted for wine and chocolate tonight though, but I'm not upset about that. My decision so I'll accept the consequences!

I've had a good long think about targets and where I want to be, and in an ideal world, I would love to be 9st again. Realistically, I think that has been my stumbling block for so long. when I was at my heaviest of 14st 7, 9 stone seemed such a long way away and an unachievable goal that I think that I subconsciously set myself up to fail before I had begun. Over the last 18 months I've lost almost two stone, in a series of losses and plateaus, and feel much more confident in my weight loss abilities. I have decided to shift my thinking slightly, and aim to get to around 10stone and then see where I am and if I feel that I can lose more.

In the meantime, any loss is a gain, iyswim!

Envy of your manshape dee. Men really do find the wieght drops off them when they are mortivated. I wish it was the same for the fairer sex!

Ah c'mon ladies, we can do this!!

What'syour motivation for wanting to lose weight, if you don't mind me asking?

Long term, for me it's the fact that i want to be around to see my kids grow up, maybe make me a grandparent but not for at least another 20 years and just generally enjoy life. I knowif i carry on going the way i am that's not going to happen, and i don't want my kids to have to live without me just yet. Short term, Manshape and i are getting married in September 2013 and i'd prefer not to walk down the aisle to him looking like the goodyear blimp in drag.

I'm a big girl, make no bones about that - size 26/28 bottom half and a 28/30 on top - and i've always been big. I've never been slim, ever. I know i'll never be a svelte size 8, but i do want to get to a healthier weight than the one i'm at now.

I have a huge ammount of weight to lose, a huge ammount. I know it's not all going to come off at once - it took years to get to this size, so i expect it's going to take a while to lose it. And that's ok. As long as it's coming off, thats the important thing.

Another thing i'm doing is looking at why i have issues with food. I think personally it comes from the fact that as a (big) 9 year old child my mother sent me to weight watchers. I didn't lose weight at all, and when it didn't work she made me go on the slim fast diet. Looking back on that now, it's no wonder i have problems with food. When i got to my teens i totally rebelled against her - my mother - and that involved eating and eating and eating. Usually chocolate or crisps or both. Trying to address that now as an adult and it's hard.

But i'll get there - we all will Smile

Can I join? I went to my first meeting on Monday and weighed in at 12st 1.5lb Blush

I am planning on sticking to the plan religiously

I've spent the lase couple of years trying to low carb/starve myself/lose a stone overnight. I've finally realised that if I want to lost this 3st I need to do it slowly and sensibly.

My DM started 3 weeks ago and has lost 9lbs so far.

Hope you dont mind if I join in, I will not be going to group as I work shifts so I often have to miss group. I still have my books from when I last joined in jan this year. I need to lose 3 stone. I'm 12st 3 and only 5'2! I aim to lose 1.5 stone by Xmas. I'm veggie so will be doing green days.

hi, mind if i join you? i can't attend meetings but i have joined on line. the thing is, i am confused. can you do extra easy all the time or do you have to alternate. i am a big drinker too and find not drinking tough but i am really fed up of waking up in the morning and spending ages trying to find something to wear.

Report
cat · 14/09/2012 16:04

You can do extra easy all the time.

I'm a big drinker too. The syns are so high in alcohol - I don't think SW is feasible if you're still drinking.

I'm on my 4th 'dry' day! It's boring. But I'd rather be bored and thin Grin

Can I join too, re joined on Monday, two stone to lose Grin.

Have managed to stick to the guidelines 100% so far (only four days - have had no alcohol and I am a BIG drinker) and done quite a bit of exercise so feeling quite good.

Good luck to everyone.

Dee Someone on our post natal thread has lost 8 stone!!! 8 stone? Doing sw. She is lovely and if anyone wants to pm her she will be happy to give you some support.
Well I have been ok really. Fell off the wagon a bit last night at the circus and had some popcorn but only a bit and then a crumpet when I got home. Probably went over syns. Today has been good but as it is Friday I am intending to have some wine but I have gone from a glass or 2 every evening to hardly at all.
My motivation is that I look down at myself and i don't recognize who i have become and cant dress how I would like to.I have never been tiny but am currently a tight 16 with a big belly which makes me look still pregnant.
Off to the pils tomorrow and a day in London with dd shopping.I figured all that walking around the shops would allow for lunch. Am planning to do the ABFAB tour Harvey Nicks,Bond Street etc. so should be good motivation.

ledkr that's exactly how i feel! and now i'm thinking i'm close to 40 and already dress like an older woman as i try to hide my gut! Cat i can go a few days but when the weekend comes, pasta etc doesn't go well without a glass of red etc etc i think it's a mindset and i need to break it. can i ask how much you have lost over what period? ragwort welcome from me! i have decided that i will have a free weekend then start proper from monday.

Can I hop in too, please. I am starting again today - not going to a class as its too difficult to get there every week as work is a bit unpredictable and hectic at the mo. Have bought a healthy shop this morning and have a planned a week of seafood salad, cottage pie, BBQ chicken, cooked dinner, pasta bake, "fry up" with SW chips, yoghurt/fruit for snacks, porridge/omelette breakfasts, salad for lunch and lots of water. I have gained 2 stone in the last year (a stone over the last couple of months) and am going on holiday in 9 weeks so need to shift at least a stone of that for anything to fit me.

So cross with myself

Hi all!

One lady at group said that she has a bottle of wine a week, and straightaway takes it out of her syn allowance rather than adding up each glass. Might be worth trying?

We had a lovely chicken dinner yesterday - i did it in the slowcooker and it was really really tasty - very moist and succulent, and everyone loved it. Did it with roasted new potatoes cooked in their skins, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, cauli and peas. Also did stuffing balls 25g each at 1.5 syns each and chicken bisto, 1.5 syns per level tbsp. Was ruddy lovely!!

Tonight we have Spag bol, following the SW recipe, which is free on extra easy.

Manshape weighs in tomorrow night.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 16/09/2012 14:15

My old consultant does that with all her syns - and puts them in a tub to eat through the week. (Be gone by day 2 if I did that Grin)

I'm going to do a mixture of green, red and EE to get me started, I think. Green today as I've had banana and yoghurt, beans on toast and planning on cooked dinner later.

Report
deemented · 16/09/2012 15:47

You could still do EE Taffy, on what you'e had. Take your toast as your B choice, and then fill up on loads of meat and veggies.

I'm doing mainly EE days, but i'm struggling with the only having so much bread a day. Didn't realise before how much bread i got through Blush

Report
Ragwort · 16/09/2012 16:42

dee - I agree about the bread, it is such a struggle having so litte and can anyone tell me if it really must be brown bread, I much prefer white bread Blush - I get plenty of fibre from jacket potatoes, green veg, fruit etc but just hate the two miserable slices of brown wholemeal bread Grin.

Apart from that I am feeling positive and looking forward to weigh in tomorrow (never weigh at home).

Ooh, can I join...? Joined SW the week before the summer holidays and do far have lost 10lbs Smile - it was 10.5 but I put on half a lb this week Angry - I would love to reach a stone by using 2lb this week but I really don't know if I'll manage it...watch this space! MPD

I struggle with the bread thing, though as the loaf I have in is going mouldy, it looks like porridge tomorrow anyway. Maybe a SW fry-up for lunch, with saute potatoes, then jerk chicken with rice and peas, veg kebabs and mango salsa (from last months mag). If all goes to plan...

today went awry as sausage and burger tea while out visiting a friend. She has dropped loads of weight with no effort, and she always seems to eat huge amounts of BBQ with creamy mayo etc (which I don't eat as it makes me ill), and make comments on how little I eat. Yet I am the fat one.

Weighed in at half a pound heavier this morning Blush But I know where I went wrong (too much wine and some chocolate over the the weekend) I will get on the plan properly this week.

so far today, I've had cereal and milk and that's all. I'm going to have bacon and eggs for lunch and something with mince for tea, probably spagbol, so that's all good.

I have no problems with bread as I'm gluten free and gf bread is a last resort for me as it's really not that nice....though if I did eat bread the weight would no doubt just fall off :o

Will try and post more/keep up, but things are really hectic here at the minute. I need some RL support as well I think. Found my books though so no excuse really!

I didn't actually start last week. I'm starting today, find it quite difficult working long shifts and planning meals must get more organised.

Lost 6lb at my first weigh in - delighted Smile.

I know the first week is usually a higher weight loss that most weeks so I shall try to carry on being sensible and not get big headed Grin.

I am going to switch to white bread though.
