I've just joined slimming world, today is day 2.

Please can all those who have joined please come along and share your experiences, what you have eaten today, goals and cheer each other on?

I did ww 4yrs ago and lost 3.5 stone, this time I'm aiming to lose about 1.5 stone by christmas.

Today I've eaten a huge fruit salad and natural yogurt breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and I'm having jacket potato, salad and steak for dinner followed by all my syns on alcohol with dh as it's our wedding anniversary this week.

Well ive lost none but I did have the Wednesday buffet and a weekend with the pils during which I ate sausage and chips on the beach but in my defence they do starve us the rest of the time so not too bad.
Today I have had porridge with fruit and a pasta n sauce,dh is cooking a roast for later too so should be a good day.I am also considering re joining my gym even though I loathe it Grin Cnt keep kidding myself im going to do the shred or go running cos im not. Blush Still fat here.

Thanks ledkr - do consider joining a gym, I tend to go most days and am not a 'gym' person at all but I have found a lovely local one which does excellent classes and has a good range of equipment. and no skinny people in skimpy exercise gear Grin. I bought 'Shred' too but rarely do it, had it for over two years and still not progressed beyond the first level !

does anyone know, if you are doing extra easy do you HAVE to fill 1/3 of your plate with free or super free foods. i think i'm doing this right but have got all confused. today i have had porridge made with water and milk from allowance, then homemade scotch broth (used stock cube) then tonight mince and mash with veg (used bisto). have also has 2 plums and a nectarine. so, i know i count the stock cube and the bisto but is there anything glaringly wrong?

littlebluechair · 17/09/2012 17:54

It is 1/3rd superfree on your plate first.

Then free food for the rest.

Then count any syns on top.

From wht you are posting you may not be having enough superfree?

Do not muddle up superfree and free! Superfree is basically veg or fruit and free is quite calorie dense really as it includes pasta etc.

Report
ledkr · 17/09/2012 18:19

OOOPS I dont think I knew that about the third of the plate. So spag bol with a salad etc?? Is that right? Obviously tonight's roast will be cool then. (wonders if this is the reason for zero loss in the past.)
Is that rule for every meal so that for example an egg and one piece of toast isnt ok unless you have a piece of fruit or mushrooms or whatever??

I sat at work today and let everyone eat sweets and cakes as I jealously tucked into my satsuma Hmm

Report
littlebluechair · 17/09/2012 19:33

Yes, that is supposed to be the rule for every meal - the idea is by getting full on superfree you reduce the amount of other calorie-dense foods you will eat.

Yes, with something like a spag bol, I also do some broccoli or beans on the side, that's my superfree. And yes to the egg example - you need something, half a grapefruit first would be sufficient or a banana after.

The issue with SW is that you can eat a LOT of pasta/rice/meat or whatever and not enough traditional 'diet' foods if you do not stick to the superfree rule.

littlebluechair · 17/09/2012 19:35

Also a very good tip is be careful about free vs. superfree - e.g. a sweet potato curry is free, but a cauliflower curry is superfree. Similarly shepherd's pie with potato top is free, but better is a swede topping which is superfree. Those swaps help you, because you are substituting in lower calorie foods.

Hey stoney - welcome.

I went to group tonight with my toddler. He got on the scales for fun - he weighs 2st 2lb.

I need to lose one and a half of him to reach my target.

I always moan how heavy he is to carry now Hmm

Maybe if I got rid of the junk in my trunk I could carry my child Grin

Littlebluechair - that bit of information has really helped me get my head round extra easy. I was struggling with how to work it, but if I want fruit first thing before walking the dog, I can still have my porridge when I get back in and still have an extra easy day. Is that right?

Report
littlebluechair · 18/09/2012 10:34

Same principle on all plans - 1/3rd superfree on your plate at every meal.

The precise timings don't matter of course, but a breakfast must contain 1/3rd superfree. If you walk the dog half way through that is your choice!

I lost 2.5lbs this week btw, I am pleased. This is week one after a summer at 'target' because I knew it would be hard, so it's a good start. need to keep it up now as I have a stone to shift, and that stone has been there for twelve years so hard to get my head around losing it!

Report
littlebluechair · 18/09/2012 10:35

What I mean is I chose to spend summer at 'target' rather than keep trying to lose as I knew it would be hard to lose over summer.

Well done you bluechair. I also have a stone to lose, and at the most only lose about 6lbs before i, stupidly, lose interest and it all goes back on. My trousers are now toooooo tight, so I def need to stick to it. Just had a lovely lunch of a very large griddled tomato, griddled field mushroom, 2 small rashers of bacon and a small tin of beans. Now nicely full.

Some good weight losses here - keep up the good work. I've been ok so far but am working at home tomorrow - so need to do a bit of planning ahead to stop me raiding DH & DS's goodies (or rather naughties!) I think I might make a rice pudding to munch on for when I get the chocolate biscuit craving!

Thanks Assumpta Smile.

Yes, it is v hard to keep going, I don't think it is stupid but it is self-defeating!

Hello all!

I would like to join you if that's ok? I have read through and great losses do fat.

I have never been on a diet before as never been bothered about my weight or how it made me look. My daughter is now 16 months old and starting to want to play and I can't keep up! Also wanted to start horse riding again so had to loose for that.

On my 11th week and lost 13.5lbs so far so would love my stone award soon

Right. I am getting motivated again. Can I join you ladies? Grin

I've been doing SW since Jan and lost 2 stone. But summer hit, got a bit bored, ate a lot of fish and chips and ice cream...

So I've put 1/2 stone back on and until last night hadn't been to group since July. I've got about a stone and a half to lose I reckon.

I've joined a lovely new group too which has just started across the road from my house. So no excuses!!

Can I ask for some help? Anyone know what the best thing to eat in Pret a Manger is?

Good luck everyone!

Well ive had a good week so far and have dropped below 13stone for the first time since I had my baby Grin Its only a pound below but im so pleased that its actually working for me.I am finding it ok at the moment and enjoying eating well. This weeks slimming world mag has a nice recipe book in it for take away recipes so instead of falling off the wagon at the weekend I will make one of their lovely curries.I can really see a positive outcome which is a first.
A powerfull thing for me was admitting to myself how horrible the extra weight has been making me feel. Im not depressed or ill or tired from the baby and work I AM OVERWEIGHT and that is the cause of it all.
I walked a journey I would normally drive yesterday with the pram and it was lovely.

Hi well done to everyone loosing weight, it's hard to stay on track but it's going to feel so good! Enjoy your curry and come back and tell us if it's any good....

I'm getting weighed tonight eeekkk after my disasterous weekend (food wise, actual weekend was amazing!)

I've tried to be good since Monday so I'm hoping I've at least lost a lb. I haven't done as much swimming as last week because I've started a mural for a soft play place this week and taken on some art work for a local nursery as well as childminding so my painting is taking up any spare time for the foreseeable though I am sticking to doing 40 lengths on a monday night and will fit extra in when I can!
