Still in France but getting slacker in the second week of the holidays! Lunches usually OK, dinner OK but the croissants keep calling me for breakfast and there has been the odd pudding!

teddy brilliant loss - you are inspiring me!

Thanks MrsHP!

BIWI · 20/08/2012 23:43

I have more or less given up trying to low carb when we're out - but have to confess to really enjoying bring badly behaved! It's only two weeks, I keep reminding myself.

SingingTunelessly · 21/08/2012 07:00

Ahh here you are! I wondered why I was talking to myself on the old thread then realised it was full Grin

Glad to hear you two are enjoying holidays. I refuse to even think about hot, buttery croissants with strawberry jam ......... Two weeks until we head off so aim to be a few pounds lighter by then.

WillieWaggledagger · 21/08/2012 08:00

Stop it with the croissants! I had the most horrific craving in waitrose yesterday morning - you know how they pump out that bakery smell. God it's like crack

sybilfaulty · 21/08/2012 08:11

Hello from Isle of Wight! Having a lovely time and sticking to it , albeit with wine.

Being nagged for iPad, so back later.

hazchem · 21/08/2012 08:46

Oh new thread! I've been might slack about writing on the other one (well I have written several long post and managed to delete them instead of post them)
Had a wine heavy weekend and weighing in tonight so see how I go.

Oh yesterday I roasted a chicken in a pot (with a lid) once done took it out and simmered the juices and then turned the heat off and added cream cheese. I like thick gravy so I was perfect for me. I guess you could reduce the juices less so you get thinning gravy.

mummyduff · 21/08/2012 09:22

Morning ladies, found you and thanks for new threadSmiledisaster this morning I am 2lb up!!

Strangely I have a very hard swollen tummy too, did fine food/water wise yesterday, so thinking it could be knock on from the weekend!!

I really need to get arse in gear, but have 2 nights out this coming weekend, which is so hard..

On the up side DH has now joined in, so we will see how he doesSmile

emmak86 · 21/08/2012 10:04

Oooo yay ive found it...

Ive actually been panicing like mad with no thread :/ Smile

Netheregions · 21/08/2012 10:45

Oooh have I found you all again?

I mentioned Pizza... I'll put a link to the Primal Blueprint website Pizza thingy...

Sorry Jins Blush It's egg based and the one I was thinking of was also from the 'Low Carb Gourmet' - there's another egg and coconut milk one on the 'Mark's Daily Apple' web site about Palaeo lifestyle - very worth a look but I've not found anything that is egg free - could you substitute the base for something like aubergine slices which I use as pasta in a wheat free lasagne???

Pizza

I've resolved to be more resistant to the ease and lure of bread for lunch and finished off a french bean salad with pine nuts and pesto - a little lemon juice and extra basil has made this a really tasty side dish - plus a big chicken leg that was also a leftover...

Jins · 21/08/2012 11:04

I think I'll have to continue doing without pizza. I may have a hunt for the cauliflower base again. It wasn't too bad IIRC

Glad to have found you all again

Jins · 21/08/2012 11:08

Cauliflower crust pizza

I think I used the smallest amount possible of egg to bind it together as I really can't do with the texture of egg white at all

MsRinky · 21/08/2012 12:43

Hello all. Back from my holiday which was a whirl of moules, frites and cherry beer. Lots of lovely beer. Wasn't fussed about chocolate or sweet stuff though, seem to have lost the taste for it. We did a lot of walking and shagging and so rather miraculously, have only come home about half a pound heavier. Yay.

I have experimented at great length with pizza, and have settled on what is basically the recipe below. I add either cauliflower puree, or a couple of grated courgettes which I salt for half and hour and then squeeze all the moisture out. This then makes 2 pizzas, and we usually eat one and a half between us for our dinner and I have the leftover half for my lunch the next day. It is really good, and makes proper, pick-up in your hand slices with crunchy edges rather than a pizza-topped omelette type thing.

vnmum · 21/08/2012 12:57

Found you all. I hadn't even realised the other thread was getting full. Not very observant this week Smile

Well, after my huge calorie day yesterday (i know, not worried about them) with over 200g of fat and just over 30g carbs, I have lost 1 3/4lbs over night!

Wasn't overly hungry but wanted something so had a protein shake with cream for breakfast. Just deciding what to have for lunch. Think I'm going to make eggs with boursin and eat them with mini gem lettuce leaves.

I have been experimenting with no grain treats for the DC today. I made coconut honey muffins, the batter seemed runny as the coconut flour didn't seem to absorb loads of liquid like the recipe said it would, but they don't taste too bad, I had to try a bite for research purposes, and DS really likes them.

The second ones I made were banana almond muffins. Had a tiny bite of one to try and they are really nice. DS loves them. So at least they can eat grain free without missing out on treats so they don't feel different to their friends.

Luckily, even though they were nice I am not tempted by them

mummyduff · 21/08/2012 13:15

OOH vnmum can you post recipe for the banana almond muffins please, sound lovely x x

NigellasGuest · 21/08/2012 13:22

Hello all! Thought I'd pop in with this....

I've read a book called The Diet Cure by Julia Ross, which was recommended by Dr Briffa on his MN webchat. It is very very interesting! You find out what food to eat to cure your individual issues, basically. It is low-carb though not totally compatible with bootcamp/other LC woe's/whatever (e.g it says celery root, aka celeriac, is a high carb veg)!!

However, it's not the actual food part that interests me (I feel I've got that covered through this thread/Briffa/listening to my body)!

What I am finding so interesting is the questionnaire that you do, which identifies you as having one or more of 8 different imbalances. You then can take combinations of supplements/amino acids to re-balance. Two of the imbalances really do apply to me and I am considering buying the supplements recommended for these. Something that comes up loads is cravings for starch/sugar.

vnmum · 21/08/2012 13:47

mummy I can do but they are definately not suitable for any weight loss phase, they do use alot of honey which I did reduce abit as I thought there was no need for so much when you have 3 bananas in there. I might reduce it even further next time. I am not really sure where I would post it as it is not a bootcamp recipe and wouldn't want people to think they were fine to eat. I also have no nutritional breakdown for them.

Nigellas I did the mini quiz on your link but I didn't come out with any deficiencies. I suppose thats a good sign Smile

mummyduff · 21/08/2012 14:07

vnmum can you PM me it please, just know my children would love themGrin

teaandthorazine · 21/08/2012 14:33

oh goddddd, dp has just texted to say he is making 3 bean stew for dinner. am in full-on ketosis ATM and that's going to knock me right out. it wouldn't be so bad if I actually really liked 3 bean stew but it's not exactly a favourite...

how bad will this be, exactly? I can't ask him not to make it.

Jacaqueen · 21/08/2012 14:44

Hi all I restarted yesterday at 13st and today I was 3lbs down. You got to love it!

Looking forward to getting back into proper low carb cooking again. So much easier with the children back at school today.

mummyduff · 21/08/2012 15:19

Well done Jacaqueen, thats greatSmile

I have had a piece of left over gammon for breakfast and cucumber and cheese for lunch. x x

Jacaqueen · 21/08/2012 15:22

Hi all I restarted yesterday at 13st and today I was 3lbs down. You got to love it!
On the one hand I weigh much the same as I did 7/8 weeks ago. I could have been more strict and been lighter by now. However this is the first time in years when I have not piled on the pounds over the summer holidays.

Looking forward to getting back into proper low carb cooking again. So much easier with the children back at school today.

Jacaqueen · 21/08/2012 15:23

Oops I didn't realise that I had posted that.

Medal · 21/08/2012 15:28

hi all, great to catch up here. Can I post a kinda unrelated question if you don't mind as I'd value any advice?

DC, just short of 2, has a ridiculously healthy appetite, eg, eats bowl of cereal plus large portion of scrambled egg straight after for breakfast (she sees me having mine and wants it) and good portions for other meals. All food given is healthy, no snacks apart from occasional fruit. Not overweight or fat-looking to my knowledge (apart from a big tum) and constantly on the go. Do I need to worry?

Jacaqueen · 21/08/2012 16:37

I would say not to worry.

My 7 year old eats like a horse and is skinny. I don't really limit his either.
