Couldn't get much more inspirational than the title of the first thread. We're doing this for ourselves. No one else outside family really cares if we're size 16 or size 10. No one else really benefits when we're slimmer. We take all the pain but get all the benefits. And it matters, we'll do anything to get there. Seriously assess - are you really doing all you can? Could you maybe cut out a bit more junk or exercise on the days you can't be bothered? If you really are doing all you can, brilliant. the weight will be coming off, slowly but surely. If, like me, you're thinking that maybe you could try a bit harder sign in here for your butt kicking.
do you want to be fat at christmas?

My BMI is shockingly high 33 I need to lose 21 pounds to get from obesity to just being overweight.

Gonna be a loooooong road! I suppose that could be another goal - get my BMI healthy :)

MilkshakeMaker · 12/08/2012 19:10

Dont worry TheOne that was pure jealousy talking this morning Grin sorry!

Bonkey, my version of that meal is egg omlette with chicken onions and peppers usually with a salad. ....And a chicken stew...thats how far i've got with the meal planner!!

My goals (which are only do able if I get off my arse from tomo and actually do it) is hopefully 11 stone by late sept and 10 stone by christmas then back to 10 stone in january as I will have no doubt put lots on over xmas its the law

And one more mini goal is to lose as much as poss by 1st sept as will be a stupid bridesmaid.

Krumbum

Its a supportive thread. Why are you even posting on it if you have a problem?

If you don't like it, don't post! SIMPLE.

Now, let us get back to our carrots sticks and bog off!

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 19:12

Supporting anxiety. Sometimes threads need a voice of reason.

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 12/08/2012 19:18

Like I said Krumbum....Bog off!

LollipopViolet · 12/08/2012 19:18

I think you're on the wrong thread krumbum. All we do is support each other losing weight. What "supporting anxiety" has to do with that, I don't know. I also think this thread is very reasonable, so your voice of reason is not needed, nor particularly wanted here. Please just leave us to it. Thank you.

Right, back to the thread.

Does anyone know if Peacocks sizes run big, small or average? I'm thinking of getting some new jeans from them but can't remember how their sizing is compared to most places.

I actually got my maternity jeans from there Lollipop, Most comfortable jeans I've ever owned (granted I get that they are maternity so have to be comfortable, but thats not always the case) Cant tell you about the normal jeans sizes but Next jeans seem to run bigger and New Look seems on the small side.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 12/08/2012 19:34

I get the impression this is a thread for those who want support but also a bit of arse kicking yes?
Here are some observations from me.

  • I have always been podgy. At my lightest (my wedding) I was 10 stone (5 ft 2 btw) at my heaviest nearly 13 stone. I'm now 9 stone and size 12 which I never thought possible.
  • I ate too much. Not necessarily bad food but just too much of it. Potion control is my friend.
  • I eat carbs but half the amount if bread/pasta/potatoes etc that I did before.
  • I recently ran 10 km. trust me when I say if I can do this anyone can. Couch to 5k is amazing. I have 3 small children and made time to fit it in. Zumba is a bloody hoot and I love it like I've never ebh
musttidyupmusttidyup · 12/08/2012 19:37

Ooops enjoyed exercise before.

  • for the first time in my life I wore a summer dress on a hot day. Bliss. Cool and comfortable. This makes me happy.
However. I still have a v big tum and am pretty resistant to sit ups Grin. Plus I'm smoking again. Kind of. E cigs don't count do they? Hope this doesn't sound like a smug post - it isn't intended to be, just some positive observations I am a bit smug though Smile
Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 19:45

< waves madly at 80/20 > Grin

I think your goals are realistic. You know what works for you, well done on the loss so far, you're doing great Smile

I can't do sit ups musttidyup but I can do the plank (just about) and that's supposed to be just as good for tummy muscles if you do it every day.

IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime · 12/08/2012 19:50

musttidyup I assume you're just maintaining weight and toning up now, as given your stats, your BMI is 23, perfectly healthy weight.
Have you tried Pilates? It works your core muscles and tones abs, even just doing a "plank" or "cobra" for a couple of minutes a day could do the trick for you.
Sadly, my BMI is far from healthy (36Blush), I've got a lot to lose, but I'm getting there.

fluffyraggies · 12/08/2012 19:55

I can't do sit ups because they make my lower back scream in pain.

Crunches, however, do not. I can do 150 daily and when i do - it works! Tum gets toned.

I think Peacocks comes up small lollipop.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 12/08/2012 19:56

Thought I'd try another half stone bolt as still have waist of 33 inches and skinny arms/legs but big middle and boobs. Def not a size 10 .Like a barrel on legs.
Never thought of Pilates - will I notice results? How often? Where? (class or home?) thanks for advice.

Krumbum · 12/08/2012 20:02

No need to be rude eightytwenty.
Just trying to help maybe just a few women not hate their own bodies and start questioning sexist, body fascism
But sorry to bother y'all, bye.

IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime · 12/08/2012 20:04

That body shape sounds like my miiGrin
I used to do a DVD at home called "yogalates", it's like torture the first week or two, but twice a week, after a month I was standing straighter, and had noticeably less tummy wobble .
I have previously been to external Pilates classes, but IME if you go, find two others to go with, so you have to have a really good excuse not to go, or you'll be letting your friends down.

StealthPolarBear · 12/08/2012 20:05

Ah that explains things
Krumbum, have you read why we're doing this. For the main part, mine is about a diabetes scare I had a couple of years ago, joint pain I used to get fairly regularly and the realisation that I am heading into the age bracket where extra weight will increase my risk of heart attack and stroke. I'm sure I'll have made comments about looking better, fitting into clothes etc, but I've always wanted that. My motivation to actually do something (4st lost since last July) has come since I ahve seriously started to worry about my health.

OP posts:
IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime · 12/08/2012 20:07

Krumbum I do not hate my body, I never have, but I am certainly heavier than is good for my health. This thread has helped me understand where my excess calories came from, and how to avoid/mitigate situations that cause me to eat unhealthily.
I doubt I am alone in this.

StealthPolarBear · 12/08/2012 20:08

What is wrong with 'do you want to be fat at Christmas'
Events like Christmas make me reflect on where I've come in the last year or whatever. It's an obvious milestone in our weightloss plan, while far enough away that everyone on this thread can see some real results by then.
s16 to s10 is a bit misleading - it's the original wishes of the person who started the thread. If someone on the thread is a size 26, they'd be just as thrilled I imagine to be a size 22 by Christmas.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 12/08/2012 20:09

part of the reason I have never successfully really lost weight before has been my incredibly high self esteem (I blame my parents :o) I never admitted how fat I had become and how much it affected me.
It is not body fascism to not want to break garden furniture by sitting on it.
But hey, I doubt Krumbum will respond to any of our points.

OP posts:
BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 12/08/2012 20:10

I don't think any of us hate ourselves Krum .
If we did I don't think any of us would be doing anything at all.

We all have our own reasons. Yes part ofit may be to look better, but its for ourselves to feel better, to not be worrying about health risks, to be able to enjoy out children more.

Its never just a case of I want to look thin there is always more to it!

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 12/08/2012 20:11

Typos Grin

Fairenuff · 12/08/2012 20:11

Krumbum

The pretence that it isn't because of outside pressures that make you think you need to lose weight

You are an 'outside pressure' trying to make us think we don't need to lose weight.

Don't you think, as intelligent women, we are able to decide that for ourselves? Do you see the irony of your posts?

fluffyraggies · 12/08/2012 20:17

Yes to all the reasons for weight loss above ^^

I just feel better slimmer. I can nip up and down stairs without getting puffed and i just feel better in my skin. Can't describe it any other way.

I'm not under any pressure from my DH to loose. In fact he tells me not to bother as he loves me as i am. I tell him i love him too, and want to live a long and healthy life with him for as long as i can.

StealthPolarBear · 12/08/2012 20:20

although DH did tell me if I got down to 9 st he'd pay for me to have a boob job and a new frock.
