Well, week 15 of Bootcamp has just ended. But the support and banter will continue! I, for one, am carrying on for the next couple of weeks until my holiday, in the hope that I can drop another pound or so before I go.

There have been some brilliant losses in the last two weeks, so I'm hoping that you'll all be sticking with it too!

Might be the chilli sauce clare - i was looking at them all in tescos and even the ones which are not sweet-chili are high in carbs. I think maybe the chilis themselves are high, even tabasco seemed a bit high. I go for garlic sauce on kebabs myself - i think it's just mayo with garlic?

mummyduff · 18/08/2012 15:57

teaandthorazine · 18/08/2012 16:49

Emma - weightwatchers yoghurt... It wasn't low-fat was it? What were the carbs in that, eh? Hmmmm? [wags finger] Grin

Protein shake for breakfast
Lunch - tuna salad (tuna in olive oil, plenty of mayo, dollop of green pesto, olives, capers, cucumber and salad leaves)
Snack - handful of salted almonds
Dinner - no idea. Am on call and on my own so probably scrambled eggs!

Plenty of water today, am melting!

emmak86 · 18/08/2012 17:00

I know i know tea that was my better option, weve been visiting family allday today.. Theres been several rounds of cakes
And biscuits which ive passed on and i was starving Blush!

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 18/08/2012 17:13

yay to old clothes fitting!

trying to entertain a toddler while it is so hot is challenging! far too hot to play outdoors here and very little shade for another hour or so

teaandthorazine · 18/08/2012 17:28

Hehe, well done anyway emma - it's tough to get through an afternoon of cakes!

God, am boiling. There doesn't seem to be any through-breeze in here today. Am wondering whether to have a little nap - am sure I'm going to get called out tonight. Trouble is, pre-low carb I'd doze off at the drop of a hat, now I have more energy and can't sleep in the day even if I want to Hmm

PullyWoolOver · 18/08/2012 19:00

Hi all, posted on the other low carb thread but thought I'd pop in on this one too. Am a most-time lurker on MN, but sometimes I pop out to say hello Grin.

Just saying thank you to you all for this wonderful thread on all things low-carb. I found you all a while back and you inspired me to cut back on carbs to get rid of my stubborn baby weight, brought on no doubt by the bad habits I picked up in the newborn/ breastfeeding days (toast, toast and more toast topped off with cakes and biscuits).

Well, I'm pleased to announce that as of my morning weigh-in today I have reached my target weight - baby flab is gone!!!!

As it's Saturday, I thought I'd come on and offer you all some Thanks for inspiring me to do this - hurrah!

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 18/08/2012 19:57

pullywoolover that's brilliant!!! can I ask how long it took?

it is so sticky hot here, cannot get a very tired toddler to settle as she is too warm and all the windows are open meaning more noise than usual. sigh

PullyWoolOver · 18/08/2012 21:48

Eyesdomorethansee - you most certainly can ask! I had one last stubborn stone to lose and it took around 6 weeks to lose. So chuffed!

I know we shouldn't complain about this lovely warm weather but open windows, sleeping children and noisy Saturday nights don't mix very well do they? Hope your toddler is off to sleep by now.

BIWI · 18/08/2012 22:23

Paradise is just wonderful! We had a lovely day today with no rain, at the Beth, where we also watched baby turtles hatching! I've posted a video on Twitter (@TheRealBIWI) if you want to see.

It's a bit of a carb fest at the moment, but I'm enjoying what I'm eating and trying not to feel guilty about it. There is a gym here which I keep thinking about (I have brought my gym stuff with me) but somehow I haven't worked up the enthusiasm to go!

We did play golf on Weds though and especially enjoyed watching the troupe of monkeys that were playing in the trees on the course!

BIWI · 18/08/2012 22:24

At the Beth?! At the beach, obviously!!

BIWI · 19/08/2012 01:32

OMG I have even been drinking beer tonight. Blush

Just don't tell that BIWI woman ...

HumphreyCobbler · 19/08/2012 09:39

it sounds heavenly BIWI

I am pleased as I have started to lose all the water retention gained in the last ten days. Looking a bit more like I did when I started my holiday!

Medal · 19/08/2012 10:15

Grin BIWI, sounds absolutely wonderful there, so glad you're enjoying it, you deserve it after all the hard work chivvying us along in Bootcamp!

Just to add my latest.....I am on maintenance and have been doing ok, however, I posted earlier about hair loss which is worrying me, as I have been LCing for just over 3 months now it seems that it is definitely the woe to blame. I was reading that sometimes stress from being in ketosis causes hair to fall out? Or I am missing some nutrients despite eating shedloads of veggies, fats, protein, etc.

So I have (reluctantly) decided to go back to eating more or less normally, but healthily, without sugar and wheat, to see if that will help. I know I will put back on the weight I have lost but I'd rather have hair tbh!

This morning I had a small bowl of porridge, and guess what, 2 hours later I am starving hungry Angry. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

Sounds wonderful BIWI. Have a great time and enjoy every mouthful and slurp Smile

Medal am Envy of those in maintenance, still seems a long way off at the moment. I can't help re hair loss tbh as my hair is thicker and healthier than it has been for a long time Confused. Maybe list out your average day's food for everyone to have a look at and see if we can spot something?

Right, am off to a party all day today. I am providing the cheese board but no idea what other food will be on offer. There will also be champagne so I may be going off track somewhat today. Ahh well, the sun is shining Grin

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

NigellasGuest · 19/08/2012 13:14

medal that's such a shame!
Is there not some vitamin or mineral supplement you can take to counteract this? I wonder what it is, specifically, about this WOE that is causing the hairloss. To know that would be useful.

BIWI - that all sounds fabulous! and you might even lose a few lbs or STS at least after your hol - remember what happened to me after a week of wine and desserts?

teaandthorazine · 19/08/2012 15:46

Medal sorry to hear you're thinking of leaving. I'd suggest sticking to protein-rich breakfasts anyway even if you're not low-carbing, because they will help keep you fuller for longer.

Re: hair loss, I think any major change in diet could prompt this, temporarily at least. It's more usually, iirc, a symptom of low-calorie diets. Have you been eating plenty of fat? Did you lose a lot of weight quickly? A quick google also seems to recommend a B-vitamin supplement - I know there are lots around for hair and skin - might be worth a go?

BIWI - just enjoy and don't worry about the carbs. We can whip you back into shape in no time Grin

teaandthorazine · 19/08/2012 15:51

In other news... I appear to be having another unintentional fast day, due to being called from my bed at 2am to go into work, and then falling asleep at 10am when I got back home Hmm. I did have a protein shake when I got back but no solid food has passed my lips since 7pm yesterday.

Part of me thinks this is weird, and part of me is amazed at the lack of hunger. I am drinking plenty of water though. Might have a lump of cheese or a few nuts now and dig out dinner around 7ish...

So I've slept through the loveliest day of the year - hope everyone else has enjoyed it!

NigellasGuest · 19/08/2012 16:21

tea I'm one of those people who finds this weather way too much so although I've not been sleeping through it, I am definitely out of it!

re. the unintentional fasting, I've done something similar a few times recently... it will be interesting how this impacts on the scales (if at all).
Surely following what your body tells you must be the right thing, in moderation. On this WOE, although I'm eating less I am fuller for much longer.
the hot weather could have something to do with loss of appetite, for me at least.

Medal · 19/08/2012 17:16

Gosh tea I am in awe of your unintentional fasting and of the few others who seem to be able to do it too! It never seems to happen to me Envy.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions on hair changes. I have been eating a lot of fat for me and loads of protein. A typical day's menu is scrambled egg with butter for breakfast, huge salad with mackerel/tuna/chicken for lunch and lots of olive oil or mayo, and a meat + veg for dinner (possibly this is the only area I might be a bit low on fat). Lots of additional dairy and fat with ff yoghurt, cheese and cream. Nuts and berries too. So I am just not sure what nutrients I might be missing!

I will have a look into vitamins thanks. I have only lost around 9lb overall (about 10% of my body weight) over 3-4 months which is all I wanted to lose.

Just so Sad that I need to change my eating!

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 19/08/2012 17:26

well today is even hotter than yesterday and even toddler has given up eating! we have a BBQ planned for this evening with king prawns, home made burgers, tiny sausages and a big salad. with loads of mayo.

been too hot this weekend to do anything useful and I seem to have invited my entire family for Christmas by which point we need to do a great deal of work!

Medal · 19/08/2012 17:54

Sorry can't do Maths make that I have lost 8% of thereabouts of my body weight, not 10%!

Too hot to think.......
