Rules of Motivational Monday:
The weekend is the past. You start from now. If not, you'll end up here in a couple of weeks and a few pounds heavier so do it NOW
MM involves healthy eating and some exercise. Your excuses will not be tolerated here.
MM is when we all get back into control and back into the swing of things.
Welcome all and best of luck. :)

Oh, good to know I was here :) Thank you for welcome back note Oddboots :)
Okay, here are my measurements:
1'63, currently between 67.4 and 66.5, waist around 85 cm.
Goal: weight:60 kg, waist 82 cm and the main thing - to keep it that way. I keep repeating myself but in the past I've lost 10 kg but later slowly gained 11 kg.
Today: hot water with lemon
unsalted almonds
Lunch: grilled chicken with Greek salad, a glass of tomato juice and then cappuccino without grated choc on the top
Dinner: 1 roasted chicken leg with some rice and boiled frozen peas, 2 nectarines and coffee with semi-skimmed milk and a spoon of honey, almonds instead of biscuits
Snacks - almonds (I know, keep snacking on nuts LOL) and nectarines
Was walking today and hopefully will dance to disco music later.
Wishing everybody good luck :)

StealthPolarBear · 23/07/2012 20:48

Can anyone advise on exercise for those with bad backs? I have an osteo appt tomorrow and had a proceedure back in may bt it hasn't worked :(
I have bought a Pilates DVD which I will try tomorrow (kid free afternoon) but am a bit nervous...
I have no idea what I weigh (no scales) but I was 11st 12oz in jan and I think I may now be put to 12 st. I am 5 feet 5 inches so heading towards a size 16.
I would like to be under 10 stone ideally.
Any ideas for easy non high impact exercise gratefully accepted!!

Eggrules · 23/07/2012 20:54

Stayed the same. Shredded 7/9 days. Going to stick with this.

I am marking my place and need to go back and catch up with the thread.

whyme2 · 23/07/2012 20:59

Well today has been a hotch potch of crummy eating sadly. It started well with two dippy eggs and soldiers but the leftover chinese from the weekend was calling me all morning. So when I came back from dropping DD3 at nursery I caved Blush Then I couldn't face dinner so this evening I have eaten four prawn crackers (all gone now), two slices of hot buttered toast, one packet of discos, two slices of malt loaf and the last slice of swiss roll which was infact vile and a complete waste of calories. Now I feel stuffed and uncomfortable and a little cross with myself.
Tomorrow I vow to not feel like this by the end of the day by taking control of my eating. Making sure about what I want to eat and then eating a sensible portion.
Sorry because I have let you all down and myself. Sad

Here's to tomorrow Wine

OddBoots · 23/07/2012 20:59

I have an awful back (spina bifida, tethered spinal cord and fused lumbar discs) but I have found callanetics to be brilliant for it and it has made a huge positive difference to my shape, I imagine it has a lot on common with Pilates though.

KateSpade · 23/07/2012 21:01

How about swimming? Badvoc

80% of any weightless is your diet anyway, so you can loose weight without exercise!

ssmile · 23/07/2012 21:01

Hello found you again :) well back from my weekend away being fed at MILs so have gained 1.5lbs :( but was gd last night did half hour on my bike, and today did shred with my 5yr old whilst baby was napping. My eldest struggled to keep up with me :)

Well done egg hope its getting a little easier.

badvoc I struggled to find exercise that I could do pain free after I "slipped" a disc but after trying a few things cycling worked for me but I got my handle bars put up a bit to improve my position, plus lots of Pilates type core work to strengthen everything. Now I shred and she does "boxing" cardo move that gets your heart rate up with out any jolting on your back.

MilkshakeMaker · 23/07/2012 21:03

I had coronation chicken sarnie, hula hoops and diet(v. important) coke for lunch

and a bodge job rice and veggy dish with bits of chicken in it for dinner

I managed to ride to and from work, very glad I took a pack of wet wipes a spare top and my make up bag though.. was VILE! But I did it so ner!

ssmile · 23/07/2012 21:05

The only swimming I could do was backstroke as any strokes on my frontput too much pressure on my lower back.

Someone mentioned further up about recording vegetables, I would definitely some like potatos can be high in calories I weighed out mine to start with as I was having too many. Also bananas very gd but one can be 100calories.

StealthPolarBear · 23/07/2012 21:07

Whyme Angry very not good. Get back on track! You can do it. Tomorrow is try hard Tuesday where whatever it is, exercise or diet, you need to push yourself and do that little bit better than you normally would

Badvoc · 23/07/2012 21:09

Thank you.
I will be trying to go swimming lover the summer with the dc if I can.
I will try the Pilates DVD and see how I go....
Am not calorie counting per se, am just trying to cut out the crap and eat sensibly.
Hope it's works!!

KatoPotato · 23/07/2012 21:20

My skinny mash was a disaster... Forgot to quarter the ingredients resulting in a garlic Parmesan overload... Bleurgh!

I'm now at 785 with a net of 425... Can I just head to bed soon or do I have to eat more? (don't want to!)

BonkeyMollocks · 23/07/2012 21:51

Is it odd that i wouldn't count Potatoes as veg?

Whyme Start a fresh tomorrow! Wake up positive and stick!!!!!!!!

Badvoc Good old fashioned walking any good for you? :)

Oblomov · 23/07/2012 21:58

Bad day = low/hypo upon waking, so instant lucozade. not a good start. no breakfast. ate salad lunch at 10.30. ate salad for dinner. but also consumed 3 huge costco cookies, which are about 12cm across !! First bad thig in absolutley ages.
Good news, is that I have re-signed back onto the diabetic support forum, and joined their weight loss thread aswell. They are very supportive and knowledgeable about the problems of dieting, spikes in blood sugars, and GI foods and how stress makes your diabetes go mad, so am hoping that with their help, and the support I get from you lot, I may have the strength to start again, on the new road, tomorrow.

marriedinwhite · 23/07/2012 21:59

LOL at stealth drinking wine out of a Tommy Tippee beaker Grin.

I reached my 5%. 9lb in five weeks for an old menopausal gimmer on HRT with a very bad back. I am wearing a dress I haven't worn for two years - even if it was a bit of a squeeze. I walked for one hour to day, ie, to weightwatchers and back - earnt 5 pro points and am not using them [smug emoticon]. I am going to do this - I am going to lose another 12lb and feel good about myself again.

Wants to note that although my news sounds good I am fatter than some of the gorgeous, much younger women there who I wish I could swap places with. Envy

sleepychunky · 23/07/2012 22:28

Hi everyone, can I join? I started another thread last week and I think it was stealth who said I might like it here.
I've been using MFP since Wednesday last week so Wednesday is my weigh in day. I have at least 4 stone to lose - this is the most I've ever weighed (16.5 last Wednesday although I don't look like I weigh that much). I was about 11.7 10 years ago when I got married and I would love to get back to that, but I don't think that I can realistically go any lower.
I've found MFP great as I am being really honest and logging absolutely everything. I agree with the poster upthread who said that the MFP exercise calories might be quite generous so am taking those with a pinch of salt. I have just done a sample entry on MFP for what I was eating before and it came up at around 2500 cals Blush so I'm hoping that sticking to around 1200 per day is going to make a real difference.]
Anyway, I'm here so looking forward to your support and encouragement as well as providing some of my own!

BonkeyMollocks · 23/07/2012 23:33

Welcome sleepy :)
Your very brave! I am scared to put in what I ate pre cal counting. I fear it would be too shameful Blush .

I have planned my whole days food for tomorrow tonight. Brekkie, lunch and dinner sorted with room for a few low cal snacks if I feel they are needed in the day. If they aren't then I will have a fruit salad for pud :)

Its the first time I have planned like this, will be interesting if it helps!

Another aim for tomorrow is to drink more water. I have a headache, I'm guessing partly withdrawal and partly because of the heat. Water is the bodies fuel as someone once told me :)

Night all, and stay positive!

chipsandmayonnaise · 24/07/2012 06:30

Hi Everyone [waves] I am IN!

Just found the new thread. LOVE the empowering 'no excuses' post of Stealth's.

Back to read thread.

InMySpareTime · 24/07/2012 06:36

The meal out wasn't that bad actually. I had lasagne and 2 slices of garlic bread, with salad (no salad dressing).
I overcame my social embarrassment and said "no thanks" to seconds, I've always been worried people will think I hate the food if I refuse seconds, but nobody even gave it a second thought. That felt good, I was nicely full but could have easily pigged out on managed seconds.
They brought out 4 different massive puddings, I chose one and had no seconds. Believe me, that was the hardest part of the evening. Cake is my weakness, I consoled myself that I don't enjoy second or third or sixth helpings of pudding, I just ate them because they were there. That is in the past now (I hope).
The rest of the week should be easy compared to last night.

chipsandmayonnaise · 24/07/2012 06:52

Hello again- I have not posted for a few days because i just binged all weekend. Yesterday i was doing well, but then had a leaving drinks do and drank 3 medium wines on an empty stomach and then ate fish and chips. I have now used up nearly 70 of my WW weeklies, and I do not 'star again' on that until Friday! Blush Oh well. IT IS ALL IN THE PAST. Today is a new day- and try hard Tuesday according to Stealth so i am about to go for a hard 45 minute walk, then Zumba tonight.

Love this thread, and I really do feel inspired by all of you. Thanks

I am having a major ryvita fetish at the moment, bread always makes me badly bloated so I love having tomatoes, radishes cumcumbers on ryvita. Mmmm.

Today;

Bk- 3 ryvitas with sliced tomatoes
Sk- cup of homemade veg soup
Ln- huge salad with ham slices
Sk- two ryvitas with boiled egg
post-Zumba- 5 wine gums (sugar!)
Dn- oven baked salmon with salad.

WW -wise that ought to be about 17 points.... it i very light on but I need to compensate for a few days after the Friday-Monday binge.

Right, and my mantra for today. 'No excuses.'

Good luck everyone. :)

chipsandmayonnaise · 24/07/2012 06:53

excuse the typos.... Blush typing with one hand while jiggling DS on lap!

StealthPolarBear · 24/07/2012 07:07

Welcome one, welcome all to TRY HARD TUESDAY. THT needs no explanation.

Well done married, that is brilliant :)
IMST, well done on the willpower you showed. Do you not find that the second X is never as nice as the first anyway, you just think it will be?
Oblomov, well done for joining up to the diabetic support forum. Sounds like they'll be able to provide a lot more specific support than us, but please don't desert us!
Hi sleepy :)
chips, I am going to try cucumber on ryvita, is it really anything more than dull??

Right, plans for THT:

Going to go and do my Shred now before the cherubs wake
Breakfast: omellete
Lunch: cucumber on 2 ryvita (was going to be cup a soup)
Dinner, think I'll be at PE so am going to try to have no stated, and a Pizza Laguerra (sp?). NO DESSERT
Snacks: Not planning this but no doubt I'll have 28g of chocolate :(

OddBoots · 24/07/2012 07:39

Badvoc I hope the Pilates works for you. :)

Did you have any more, KatoPotato?

I don't count them as veg either BonkeyMollocks despite them being very high in vit c. I hope the planned food works out, we all need to remember our water, I agree.

It must be so hard when you're diabetic, Oblomov it must be much harder to find a diet that works without making you ill but it's all the more important to do so.

Sounds like you are doing great, marriedinwhite I hope those 12lbs come off steadily for you.

sleepychunky Welcome to the thread. :) You are halving your calories so I am sure you will soon see the difference.

Hi chipsandmayonnaise well done for coming back after a bad weekend. I'm sure there won't be much harm if you jump right back to it. Your meal planning looks good.

StealthPolarBear I hope your Shred goes well and you don't get company. There's nothing wrong with allowing yourself some chocolate, just plan for it. Do you freeze it? I find I can get the full enjoyment from half as much of I freeze it. I break/cut it into smallish cubes before freezing.

I weighed this morning, I've lost track of how much I've lost each week but but it's 1st 1.5lbs since I started on the 19th June, not too bad going really. I have had a 35min Callanetics (warm up - hips and behind - stretches) this morning and aim to have another 30mins (Warm up - abs - stretches) before bed, even the warm ups and stretches are really effective I find.

Time for a spinach and smoked salmon omelette for me!
