Rules of Motivational Monday:
The weekend is the past. You start from now. If not, you'll end up here in a couple of weeks and a few pounds heavier so do it NOW
MM involves healthy eating and some exercise. Your excuses will not be tolerated here.
MM is when we all get back into control and back into the swing of things.
Welcome all and best of luck. :)

Well I'm £180 pounds down to a thieving gas man! That visited home on tuesday Grrrrr but on the scales 1 pound down! Yayyyyy totm for me to so hoping next week will be another two or three off. 10.5 now from 11.8 Grin mfp i do love it Smile

fluffyraggies · 06/08/2012 11:15

Hello everyone :) May i join too please?

I have a little thread staggering running at the mo about Slim Fast as that's what i'm doing. I think the MM idea is fab though. It's not about how bad you fell off the wagon, it's about the fact you climb right back on again Grin

I'm not weighing myself as i get massively depressed AND my scales say something different depending on which bit of the bathroom floor you put them on Confused and i would just cheat!

I've got (ideally) about 2 st to loose and today is the start of my 2nd week of SF.

TheOneWithTheGoldMedals · 06/08/2012 11:17

Bonkey you got it on and did it up. That's the good bit and next week the poppers won't come undone.

Kato I think maintaining after all that is good. You know you can do it.

Going well done. Sorry about the thieving gas man though.

sassytheFIRST · 06/08/2012 11:20

I've maintained again at 11st6. Would still like to hit 11.4 on fri when we go away.

KatoPotato · 06/08/2012 12:08

haha Fluffy I can just imagine you nudging your scales about the bathroom floor... and I'm absolutely going to find my own 'sweet spot!'

O2BinLA · 06/08/2012 12:38

Can I join MM? Had ds nearly a year ago and a snide comment from another mum has made me more determined to lose the 'baby' weight

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2012 12:46

Welcome o2 but sorry to hear that :( how much do you want to lose and what's the plan?

OP posts:
chipsandmayonnaise · 06/08/2012 13:45

Welcome o2 you have come to the right place! I know how depressing it can be when people make snide comments. I recently had an acquaintance look me up and down and say 'I see you haven't lost the baby weight yet'. Youngest DC is 2. Blush. It hurts alot.

Flojo1979 · 06/08/2012 14:44

That's awful chips why do some ppl think they can go round saying stuff like that? Angry

Flojo1979 · 06/08/2012 14:45

Well today isnt gd, I'm kind of eating all the rubbish to get rid of it. Should just cut out the middle man shouldn't I !

chipsandmayonnaise · 06/08/2012 15:05

I tend to be a bit sensitive about comments, and remember all the negative ones! (And dismiss the positive ones!).

I know what you mean by eating all the rubbish. On Saturday I ate several frankfurters because we were defrosting and I do not like the DCs to eat junk. Hmm why I think it is okay to treat my body as a rubbish bin is beyond me... :)

TheOneWithTheGoldMedals · 06/08/2012 15:34

Throw it away!!! Then don't buy any more.

If you have to have stuff in for the dcs and you can't help picking put a lock on the cupboard and put the key away somewhere. When you go to unlock it think about if you will regret it later.

Welcome 02.

LollipopViolet · 06/08/2012 15:35

AAAARGH!

Definitely due my totm, been eating everything in sight whilst out today including Greggs sausage rolls

OK, this is not good, but, time for the positives. It's Monday, I can rectify this by next week, I've got 2, maybe 3 gym sessions, plus any walking round town I do.

And no more giving in! Gah :(

fluffyraggies · 06/08/2012 16:01

To anyone that's faltering or having a bad day - Just Keep Going. It's not the odd occasion or day when you've mucked up that's important - it's what you're eating the majority of the time that makes the difference in the long run :)

HolofernesesHead · 06/08/2012 16:08

Feeling a bit Sad here - I've just been for my check-up at the gym and my blood pressure is high. So that's the kick up the bum I need, to realise that this weight thing isn't just a vanity issue but is really about health. Sigh. The gym chap has given me a letter to take to my doctor to sign off - until then, no gym for me. Grrr.....

Weighed myself this morning - no weight loss. Grrr....

Fluffy, yes, I need to Keep Going.

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 06/08/2012 16:32

Come on guys its Motivational Monday . Think positive!!!
I am darn well going to get that popper to stay popped next week!

Flojo Chuck the food away! You start today or maybe tomorrow now Wink . DO NOT keep putting it off!

Lollipop You sound like me. Don't beat yourself up about it. Can you decide to have some extra cals over the next few days? Maybe add 3-400 on jts so you know you are covered. At least you will still be within your target, an nor beating yourself up because your over. It really won't hurt as long as you get back on it as soon as you can!

going well done :) Shitter about the gas man though!

chips and O2 Another one who is sensitive about bad comments. Dh has been asked 3 times this year when I'm due. And ds is 4 Shock :(
However, some of that tummy has definatley gone thanks to you guys and MFP! :)

fluffy Find a spot to put your scales on and use that spot everytime you weigh in.
Why Slim Fast? Yes you may lose weight short term but as soon as you start 'eating normally ' again you will put weight on without fail ,and its bloody expensive!
Are you aiming for a date?
Have you tried MFP or something similar that could be easier to sustain?

Holo :( You can still lose without the gym. I haven't done any 'proper exercise' since I started, should do maybe it will come off quicker, but still losing How about walking? T'is the best exercise. It will come off! :)

Phew, bit of a epic post major boredom blues! , sorry if I missed anyone.

archareastie · 06/08/2012 16:42

flojo I think the only good thing with having a stupidly annoying special diet (gluten free) is I can't eat all the junk DH makes me buy him - I find it easier if I actually am not allowed it and then there's no maybe or temptation. I try my best to take that attitude when I buy chocolate for him which I can eat but it doesn't always work

Eaten too much already today but what I have eaten has been OK....just too much Blush - I get so hungry !

LollipopViolet · 06/08/2012 17:11

Thanks for the support everyone :)

Can I ask a random question to those of you who are married? Did any of your friends take pictures during the day, both at the ceremony and reception?

I'm attending a wedding and I've said if I get any nice ones, I'll do a nice little album of them (as a wedding present from me and my boyfriend). He's said he'd really like that, but he's also got a professional photographer, and I think I'd feel weird having my camera there when there's a professional present.

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 06/08/2012 17:13

Every one I have known go to weddings takes photos :)

Could you just ask to make sure they don't mind and say you will slip a few of them in too?

I can't see they would mind.

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 06/08/2012 17:15

Oh just realised you want to take pics of them Grin

If they don't mind then go for it.

Could you try and make the photos a bit different from the professional?

Y'know, not quite the bog standard line up ones, maybe try and catch some more intimate moments?

LollipopViolet · 06/08/2012 17:25

To be honest, I'm going to go for a more photojournalist type thing, try and get the moments that get missed, photos of guests enjoying the day etc. I'm going to let the professional do all the posed stuff, that's what they're usually good at Grin Fortunately friend knows I'm an amateur so isn't expecting that type of picture from me anyway.

Right, back on topic, must stop over-indulging or I'll definitely be hiding behind my camera and not getting any holiday photos of myself that I like, again!

fluffyraggies · 06/08/2012 17:26

I think that's a lovely idea lollipop. I got hitched 3 months ago and had a prof. photographer, but an aunt with a good camera took lots too. She shadowed the prof., in fact, and some of hers were better than his Grin She took some lovely ones of the venue too, which meant when we were choosing from the prof. pics we could concentrate on pics of the people as we knew my aunt had taken some great ones of the venue.

Sorry, what a ramble!

LollipopViolet · 06/08/2012 17:30

Do you know, I now feel completely at ease - just found a great article with some do's and don'ts. I shall enjoy the day, and the pictures, in theory, should sort themselves out :) Here, if anyone's interested

Now, must slim down to fit into a nice wedding appropriate outfit, which is a whole other thing I need to sort!

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2012 17:37

Bonkey is right. Come ON you lot you're RUINING motivational Monday for me

OP posts:
chipsandmayonnaise · 06/08/2012 17:38

When we got married, we put disposable cameras on the tables next to the flowers. People took photos snd then sent them to us. It was really lovely. A nephew (aged 3) comandeered a camera and we got delightful unposed photos from him...because people never take real notice of children. We got alot of photos of people's ankles, and women's breasts from the 3 year old.

It was one of the nicest parts of our wedding- the unposed, non-professional pics. And it captured the true spirit of our wedding more than the professional photographer did.
