6 weeks, one stone to lose - anyone care to join me?

Hello all - am off on holiday second week of August and have rather cunningly managed to weigh in at exactly 1 stone heavier than I'd like to be (through a combination of over eating and not exercising) so am giving myself a challenge - 6 weeks, lose a stone (or as near as damn it). Anyone care to join me?

Rules (that I'm imposing for myself are)

  • 3 meals a day - if snacking between meals fruit only
  • drink at least 11/2 litres of water/herbal tea a day
  • one small treat a day
  • try and fit in exercise at least 4 times a week
  • weigh in only once a week

Ahh just realsied it'll be more than 4 times a day... it'll be 6. Shit i'm gonna be knackered. Grin

Afternoon all - reporting in. Think getting into zone - today 10.1 stone (from last last weigh in on wed 1 lb. Only 1stone 1lb to go. Well done to others weighing in today with losses and any gains will have been water retention.

son98sonia · 29/06/2012 19:00

Can I join in too? Blush

I'm 12st 3 now, and am rediculously hoping to be at least 10.5st by the end of July. GOOD LUCK, right.

Hope all goes well with all of you, some interesting stories.

I'll weigh in on a friday, as that's what I used to do.

For now, I fit into a size fourteen, and eventually want to be down to a ten. Don't think it'll happen though. Hoping.

springlenner · 30/06/2012 21:13

Evening all. I weighed in yesterday and have lost 4lbs!!! Am so pleased, I always find the first week the hardest but really tried. Hoping for 2 more this week. I've been sticking to the Tesco diets and have done Jillian Michael's 6 week 6 pack three times - it is murder- can anyone actually do those sideways planks??
I was doing it this afternoon with the "help" of DS1 (5) - he was, like "what are you doing this for, Mommy?" -- "I want my tummy to look like that lady's" . To which he looked at the TV, got me to show him my tummy and proceeded to laugh hysterically Confused
Sigh......

Furball · 01/07/2012 07:58

Brilliant springlenner well done

omletta · 01/07/2012 11:24

Well done all you Friday weigh in people!

I have had an utterly rubbish few days as I've been a work pretty much non stop, so no time to prepare good food and too much eating at work. and too much wine. And no exercise.

DH is slow roasting locally grazed lamb, it smells so so good. Next week is another week.

Stellarforstar · 01/07/2012 19:34

Well done, spring! That's fantastic. Didn't think it would be a good day today as BFN bought some chocolate muffins round.

Luckily for me, they were vile, bless her. Feel a bit bad as they went in the bin Blush too much baking powder I think.

Had a fairly decent weekend, so here's to next Friday!

springlenner · 01/07/2012 22:18

So after yesterday's positive post, I kinda fell off the wagon today. Was helping out at the school fete and had a hot dog, a cupcake and a glass of Pimms all before 12 o clock!! Came home and scoffed 1/2 a toblerone that DS has forgotten about in the fridge ( I was starving!)... ho hum....Anyway, did do the Jillian Michaels DVD so kind of atoned for my sins.
Back on the plan in the morning.

Have a great week everybody... we can do it Grin

blackcatsdancing · 02/07/2012 10:07

spring don't worry, you can't have out it all back on and you did some hardcore exercise by the sounds of it! well done BTW on your weight loss!

i've lost a measly 1 pound in a week. I know a pound is a pound but still. Tactic for this week is to stop drizzling olive oil on my daily salad. I know we need fat but i get enough from other sources and use small amounts of olive oil in my cooking. I wondered last night how much it all added up to over the week.

dinkystinky · 02/07/2012 12:15

Its sometimes good to let go, draw a line under it and get back on the straight and narrow Springlenner.

Blackcats - at least it was a loss! Try balsamic vinegar on your salad (a little goes a long way) or lemon juice (ditto). I cant stand oil on salads but those are a good low cal option.

No loss...no gain :-( exactly the same weight as last week!

dinkystinky · 02/07/2012 13:51

Keep the faith Omletta - for some people weight loss plateaus for ages then suddenly drops off. #Just dont let it discourage you and keep doing what you're doing. If still no loss next week, then look at your portion size, exercise and water intake and trying shaking things up abit.

May I join?
Dd2 has just turned 5 months and I am huge :(
12st 1lb, 5' 7" just about getting into some size 14s. I'd like to be a size 10 & 9st 7lb (which I was pre DCs) but initial target is 10st 7lb.
Have never ever dieted or even watched what I eat so using my fitness pal am trying to track my calories & knowing I have to write it down helps.
Still BF Dd2 so can't restrict my intake too low.

dinkystinky · 02/07/2012 17:00

Of course and welcome Jemima - be kind to yourself as it is so hard with a little one (and when BFing). I found drinking loads of water and walking everywhere really helped me shed babyweight post DS2 - sadly I then returned to work and stacked most of it on by diving in the biscuit tin at the many moments of stress...

JemimaPuddle · 02/07/2012 17:44

Thanks Dinky.
Water is definitely something I need more of, I often get to tea time & realise I've hardly had any all day.
Day 1 nearly done & still have 150 calories to eat - will do so later.
No exercise really today walked to nursery & back pushing heavy double buggy but that's it. I think i'll restart 30 day shred tomorrow.
How's everyone else today?

popsypie · 02/07/2012 19:55

Lost 3 pounds. I am so happy about it - shows me that I had lots to lose. This week will be harder I think. Last week meant just not eating between meals. This week will have to mean smaller meals. Boo Hoo.

Omletta - maintaining is better than gaining. Bet next week you will lose tons. Have a good week everyone.

omletta · 02/07/2012 20:16

Well done popsypie - I've been waiting for you to weigh in, great news.

I'm not too despondent, I knew that I hadnt done very well what with graduation and all that wine. Going to try and ramp up the exercise this week, my squash partner recons he's over his injury so we have booked to play twice this week. I've been doing GM's Ripped, but I don't like it much so might go back to The Shred - I think it's in the mind as the exercises are pretty much the same but I got great results with it before

popsypie · 02/07/2012 20:59

You are making me feel guilty - I am lying on the sofa waiting for revenge to start!!! You are so good with all your exercising - you have probably not lost cos muscle attracts water or so I have heard - so it makes you heavier - you have probably lost inches. Smile

omletta · 03/07/2012 11:34

I hope your right..I never do the measuring thing as I cant seem to do it consistently. I do feel thiner though - and the good news is 'the dress' now fits - the bad news is I cant breath and underwear is out of the question...

Three weeks to go

blackcatsdancing · 03/07/2012 15:59

i found it impossible to lose weight when BF, i only had a stone to lose, i was just so hungry all the time! They tell you it uses up calories but not that loss of those calories will cause intense hunger. I guess drinking lots of water would help (slightly).
yep maintaining is ok. did anyone see that episode of Madmen where Betty is at WW? They called out the weeks losses and most were 1 pound, some only 1/2. Seems over time we have come to believe that losing vast amounts of weight v.quickly is normal. Loved her diet (not). Tiny, tiny portions and eating very slowly with tons of chewing! I felt like saying where's the big bowl of salad to fill you up?

congrats to popsypie!

popsypie · 03/07/2012 20:05

Thanks Grin
Have been quite bad tonight - I am really thirsty and too lazy to drink a big glass of water so keep eating and not feeling satisfied. Have arranged some exercise tomorrow though - run with a friend.

Re bf I think your body holds onto a bit of weight to make sure you have enough to feed a baby so any loss is good. When I stopped I lost about half a stone without much effort, think your body needs the maternal fat whilst feeding. Or maybe that was just me - but surely your boobs are heavier. Mine defo shrank after!

popsypie · 03/07/2012 20:13

I have had my drink of water - that's better! Wink

blackcatsdancing · 04/07/2012 17:18

i'd be having strawberries and cream too if i were there.

well things are looking better. I feel like i'm getting into the groove and eating less and feeling bit hungry. starving at dinner last night. ate my portion and no more. hope stomach is starting shrink a little!

JemimaPuddle · 04/07/2012 19:22

You all seem very motivated!
I've had a good third day of my diet and haven't been very hungry really. I guess my body is getting used to not shovelling vast quantities of chocolate in at every opportunity.
Does anyone have a cheat day? I was thinking of having one day a week where I maybe have a bit of chocolate and / or something else I fancy.

dinkystinky · 04/07/2012 21:21

As long as its only a little bit of chocolate Jemima and you can stop yourself there, that's a good idea. I tend to be abit more relaxed at weekends - which is probably why my weight loss journey isnt going anywhere particularly fast Hmm Still, managed pilates and PT session yesterday and quick cross train work out today - will aim for a work out tomorrow lunch time too.
