If you've poked your head around the door of this thread then please read ourOld Thread, read all the posts, all the links and the links within links and then jump in with both feet to a new, better Way Of Eating (WOE)

Roll Up, Roll Up for the all new, amazing thread for those of us who are trying to eat good, healthy, natural foods while counting our calories and eating LOADS!

We had some brilliant successes on the last thread - inches AND pounds lost and lots of people feeling happier, calmer and more focussed on their goals.

Remember that this is NOT a DIET, it is a healthy way of eating. You will NOT lose 5lbs a week - you might even GAIN weight in the first weeks!

Oh, I don't miss having small children! It's hard, and I sympathise.

Tonight I have done some hardcore junk-clearing in the DCs' bedrooms. We've been ruthless and have thrown out 10 binbags full of stuff! That's got to be worth a few calories :o

The Fuelband stats shot up while I was doing the housework. I've got my target set at 3000 Fuelpoints per day, which they class as an active day. I've done 3874 points today, 1085 calories and 10398 steps. So that's better than I thought, considering that when I checked before I left work I was way off my target. Sitting at a desk all day does not constitute 'active'!

Oh addicted I hope your dds get to sleep soon. My 2 are asleep now but bedtime was a nightmare. Dd2 is nearly 2.5 & we thought the teething had stopped... but no, she has been unbelievably grumpy! Dd1 (6) is overtired and we had full on drama and hysteria because a) she had been rude, b) she was asked to move and didn't and c) she discovered a wobbly tooth Hmm.

I have eaten a delicious concoction of leftover tuna, chickpeas, chilli sauce & coriander followed by yoghurt with strawbs. I am still not up to bmr on net cals as I've done lots of walking but I have eaten over 2000.

Addicted - eat something, just not necessarily cake!

It's so hard when you're struggling on little sleep - I remember it well.

This too shall pass.

Dh pointed out my water bottle (I try and drink 2l a day and to measure use bottled water) it had a tiny bit gone and said is that all you've drunk today? I think you're thirsty not hungry.

Ive drank 1l (I am so going to need the toilet in an hour) and am no longer hungry or just craving sugar :D

1 dd sleeping soundly next to me 1 just about giving up the fight in the next room. I am so ready for bed, I was ment to do some Zumba tonight but with both dds awake didn't manage to. Hopefuly tomorrow night I might get out For a run/zumba if the girls are good. its nights like these I miss the gym, i could have left and not known there was a problem until I got home, whereas being at home both girls just want mummy, not this strange man that leaves before they wake in the morning and gets home after bedtime but apears in mummys bed on a Saturday morning. ;)

Glad it all sounds calmer, addicted. Water is definitely important especially when you are rushing around. Thirst can make you tired. Try to get some sleep and restn

So i'm sure it can't have an effect that quickly but it amused me anyway that after one day of this new eating plan i weighted myself as usual this morning and i weigh almost a kilo less than the weight i have been stuck at for weeks! On with day 2 starting with a run this morning...

Bleurgh, not loving cocoa banana fridge oatmeal. Loved yesterday's blueberry one, going to try mango one tomorrow.

I find I only lose weight at all (not that I have lost any actual scale weight, but I have lost fat) when I drink tons of water, a good 2l+. I think I dehydrate quite a lot when I do Insanity - onto week 3 now, really proud of myself!

Bibbety enjoy your run! Hoping to get back into in the next couple of weeks - had shin splints when I was only a week from finishing couch to 5k Sad

Morning all. We too are in the SE, feeling pretty glad we live at the top of a steep hill. Doing fairly well but I am running out of meal ideas. 2.5yo DD has starting getting a bit fussy, and seems to want meat and two veg type meals. DH will eat almost anything except fish. I'm trying to avoid having to cook separate meals, and trying to avoid bad fats and too many white carbs.

We seem to be a bit stuck with new potatoes, sausages/steak/chops for them, fish for me and steamed veg, or roast dinner! Although we did have lasagne last night which went down a treat. Any suggestions for healthy meals that don't have things mixed up in sauce? Confused

Report
addictediam · 12/06/2012 09:11

Hmm...lasagne is mixed in sauce would she try something that tasted similar? Like a tomato pasta and cheese? You could gradually add other things over time like bacon, peporoni or pepper and tuna. She may not even notice! (it worked for my fussy eater brother)

Report
MrsMangoBiscuit · 12/06/2012 09:26

Sometimes she will, but more often than not she'll pick out all the "clean" pasta, eat that and tell me the rest is "Agusting!" She used to love curries, risottos and caseroles. Now she won't touch them (unless she's in the right mood Hmm) Last night was the first in at least 2 months that she's decided lasagne is nice.

We are in the SE too - one of the very waterlogged towns that keeps being on the news. We are also up a hill, thank goodness.

I put my jeans on this morning, and they were a bit snug Hmm I have obviously put on a bit while I've been away, BUT I did eat loads of nuts, protein and remain active so hopefully it is temporary weight.

MrsMango - will your DD go for meatballs? I do mine just in a basic tomato sauce with pasta, and reduce the amount of sauce for the DSs. Shepherd's pie?

Hopefully - I think I have got very dehydrated while I've been away. Too much wine, salty food, not enough water and then 2 days sat in the car coming home.

It must be awful to have a fussy family. I sympathise.

Luckily for them my lot eat what they're given or they starve :o

I had a smoothie for breakfast, and managed to bring myself to make it with hazelnut milk, rather than fruit juice! Yay! It was quite delicious, although I'm not sure how long it'll fill me up for.

Gym tonight. Boo hiss for those with flooding. I'm in the SE and it's raining a fuckload but I don't think we'll flood, thank goodness.

Shotgun I will join you in the "it's easy to eat 2000+ calories" gang.

I haven't been on super low diets though. I want to lose a bit of weight but I want to do it slowly and sensibly without fucking up my metabolism.

Trills · 12/06/2012 09:39

Nut milk sounds nice actually. I am on the train with a yoghurt and fruit smoothie from M&S. Does that count?

Poached chicken breast with loads of veg.

Baked salmon fillet with pesto spread on top, served with couscous and roasted veg.

Toby they never used to be, I swear! I think DD is just going through a phase. DH will eat whatever is put in front of him, but not always without protest.

Right, sauce for meatballs is on the go. DD turned her nose up at them last couple of times, but we haven't had them for a while I've got wholemeal pasta for me to have with them too. Think I might have to try poached chicken too, sounds like that might keep everyone happy. I just wish the little buggers darlings would eat things like tuna pasta bake! I think I might just make a big batch for myself and freeze it. Then I can have a healthy meal and still cook crap carb heavy meals for them.
