If you've poked your head around the door of this thread then please read ourOld Thread, read all the posts, all the links and the links within links and then jump in with both feet to a new, better Way Of Eating (WOE)

Roll Up, Roll Up for the all new, amazing thread for those of us who are trying to eat good, healthy, natural foods while counting our calories and eating LOADS!

We had some brilliant successes on the last thread - inches AND pounds lost and lots of people feeling happier, calmer and more focussed on their goals.

Remember that this is NOT a DIET, it is a healthy way of eating. You will NOT lose 5lbs a week - you might even GAIN weight in the first weeks!

Me too! I only found it yesterday, it's very funny

mumat39 · 17/06/2012 00:00

The guy that runs that site, Mark Sisson, is the author of the Primal Blueprint and it's a really interesting book. I think the eating plan is similar to Paleo.

Knitknack, that looks delicious! how do you find the cauliflower with it? They mention cauliflower rice in the book which is just boiled and grated cauliflower. I've never tried it as I've never been sure I like it.

ShirleyKnot · 17/06/2012 06:04

Cauliflower rice is AMAZEBALLS!

Do try it, celeriac mash/wedges/chips are also fabulous.

Cauliflower chips?

bibbetybobbityboo · 17/06/2012 06:30

Oh thats interesting Ali, so i perhaps don't need to worry if i'm a bit over provided its mostly good fat. Will check out the nhs guidelines. Thanks :)

MinnieBar · 17/06/2012 07:40

Back home again now and I really need to kick-start my eating again - I've not eaten well the last couple of days and I definitely feel worse for it. DD1 has got a party to go to today - I'm really hoping it's a drop-off so I won't be tempted to wolf the kids' lunch food? Wink

MinnieBar · 17/06/2012 07:42

Btw does anyone have any good suggestions for quinoa?

quirkychick · 17/06/2012 07:47

I haven't eaten it for a while, but I think you could do a tabbouleh salad thing with lots of herbs, pine nuts/toasted flaked almonds, spring onion, cucumber, tomato or with roasted veg? Serve with yummy fish or chicken... Google recipes for rice/couscous/bulghar wheat you could swap it for that.

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 17/06/2012 07:59

Minniebar I have a gorgeous recipe for roasted chickpea and quinoa tabbouleh, I will dig it out and post it later... Smile

quirkychick · 17/06/2012 08:07

MadameGlamour that sounds really yummy...

ShirleyKnot · 17/06/2012 08:44

I had treated it like couscous. I did a chorizo and sun dried tomato thing (fry off chorizo and red onion and then add sun dried tomatoes jus to warm through and stir into quinoa)

Thank you for reminding me that quinoa exists! I had been trying to do low carb but as a veggie it is really hard, and tbh I felt really ill on it, naesous and tired! I'm obviously not one of the people who finds themselves feeling full of energy, I need my carbs! But think I will just stick to whole grains and low gi carbs like quinoa. Grin

knitknack · 17/06/2012 09:03

Wow that sounds delicious! I'm going to try it! Love sundries tomatoes!

Since I was going all out yesterday with that recipe I actually grated the cauliflower - but usually I just mash it with a fork!! Cauliflower is my rice now and cabbage is my pasta!

Only a few weeks ago I never had the ENERGY to be trying new recipes at 7pm - id be crashed on the sofa after a hard days sugaring :)

Incidentally if anyone else loves coconut milk and has amazon prime you can get twelve cans delivered for £8 - if you have any ethnic/Indian/Thai supermarkets it'll be even cheaper but sadly they've yet to reach the wilds of the Suffolk/Norfolk borders!!

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 17/06/2012 09:59

Here is recipe, it is a Patrick holford one (recipes are great but he tends to plug his supplements all the time which I don't like):

Roasted chickpea and lemon tabbouleh

Preheat oven to 200/gas6

Cook 140g quinoa in 390ml water with 1tsp bouillon powder for 13 mins.

Toss 1 can drained chickpeas in 1tblsp oil and 1tsp cumin, 1 clove crushed garlic, zest of 1/2 lemon and juice of whole lemon and 1tblsp sesame seeds and roast for 30 mins.

Mix chickpeas with cooked quinoa, black pepper, chopped parsley and another tblsp of olive oil.

It really is scrummy, I have taken it to bbqs as a salad and it has always gone down very well. Smile

SuddenlyMadameGlamour · 17/06/2012 10:01

P.s. cover the quinoa when you cook it.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 17/06/2012 12:30

That sounds lovely. I always forget about roasting chickpeas. I used to make a lovely red pepper/aubergine/sweet potato/chickpea thing, all chopped into small cubes and roasted together. Think it came from a Terence Stamp book.
But that one sounds great for a quick lunch.

I really need to wean myself off the lunchtime sandwich habit - just laziness and erm habit I suppose Smile.

quirkychick · 17/06/2012 12:53

That sounds lovely! I was looking at quinoa the other day...

Knitknack there are 2 asian/chinese supermarkets in Norwich.
Apparently the milk/juice? is much cheaper. The coconut oil is too.

quirkychick · 17/06/2012 12:55

*coconut water is what I meant!

addictediam · 17/06/2012 17:35

hello, I've spent the last 3 days stress eating Blush but i think I've been around my tdee (i stopped mpf after havign chocolate for breakfast!)

my myprotine order has arrived and I think/hope am no longer stressing (selling a house is a pita)

so tomorrow i'm starting again. I would start now but there is a chocolate bar and rocky road calling out to me, and it would be rude to ignore, plus dh is cooking as its fathers day (Confused, but its what he enjoys) so its going to be callorific.

Lol, sorry its not really a big blow out. I'll be just about within my 2200 tdee but nowhere near macros.

I also measured myself this morning and had lost 1 more inch, meaning 6 inches in 3ish weeks :o

I won't be eating anything till after dinner, but I forgot to eat breakfast, ate a bannana and a digestive for lunch as I also forgot.

ceebeegeebies · 17/06/2012 19:34

Ladies, please can you come and give me some moral support Smile I completely believe in this WOE and, tbh, am enjoying it too Grin but am yet to see much difference to my body Sad

I am SAFTFBS so have no idea about my weight and have also not measured myself but I was hoping, after 2 weeks, that my clothes would have been a bit looser but I don't think they are. I didn't think that I needed to reset my metabolism particularly as I wasn't on a diet before starting this...

Please come and reassure me that I just need to be patient and I will see results Smile

addictediam · 17/06/2012 19:42

be patient, you will see results. I've only lost inches i think because i really was starving myself before and now am eaating 3 meals a day and they are quite healthy (just not this past weekend!)

stay with it. you will start to see results. it doesnt matter if you were on a diet before, the science behind this woe is sound so eventually it will happen.
