CHST, agree re second go around, I can't keep up with her rate and I'm worried I'll drop the weight on my foot! I use 2kgs. Did Killer L1 tonight, I think I will feel it tomorrow!

notyummy · 31/07/2012 17:42

I use 3kg for 6W6P. Agree that it is really tough for second time round in L2.

GlassofRose · 31/07/2012 18:16

30dShred is my 3rd JM workout although I haven't done any of them seriously for a while.

Which dvd do you think is hardest?

I did 30DS yesterday for the first time and my calf muscles are feeling it... about to crack on with day two.

threestepsforward · 31/07/2012 19:06

Welcome back happypiglet and nice to see you Thisis!

Glassofrose I think many think that L2 of 6 Week 6 Pack is the hardest, and Levels 2, 3 and 4 of Ripped are quite hard, same length as Shred but a step up. Having said that Shred in itself is a tough workout! Good luck with day 2, you'll ache for a few days but they'll subside Smile

I did my Turbofire 55 today, without trainers (I know it's awful!)...but I was like a butterfly released from, erm, rubber things lol! I loved it!!! I'm going to continue without and see what happens, if things like knees and ankles start to hurt, I'll think again. Was puce by the end but the 55 mins flew by. There were 2 HIITS in the workout, which were so much better this time round.

Hope everyone has a great evening Smile

My 30 day shread arrived in the post today so I'll be having a go tonight.

Already feeling a bit sore because I've been doing 10 minute solutions Blast off belly fat for the last 2 nights. Has anyone else tried any of the 10 minute solutions workouts? I'm quite impressed and I'm thinking of ordering more of them:)

TheInvisiblePoster · 31/07/2012 21:07

Just done the shred and yes it was tough (omg the jumping jacks and skipping) but I have to say I really enjoyed it. certainly feel like i've had a proper work outGrin

xelliex · 31/07/2012 21:33

Hi, I've been reading through this thread the past two days looking for inspiration! I've done 6 days of L1 of the 30DS, and had a go at L2 today - after doing level 1 so maybe not a good idea.

I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. I normally just do an hour of cardio at the gym, no weights or toning. Only problem is my knees are giving out, I'm hoping this will wear off as I can hardly walk up the stairs

gingercat12 · 31/07/2012 21:52

Finished 6W6P. For now. Glad to see the back of it. I used 2kg weights CHST. I must admit I was not doing the double time the second time around. Am faster than the first time, but would not call it double. Noticed how I lost my balance several times while trying to be super fast.

This week I will finish the Shred, and next week I shall re-start Ripped. I think DH bought me BFBM for my birthday, and I'll combine it with Ripped.

gingercat12 · 31/07/2012 21:54

Welcome, xelliex I am no expert, but be careful with your knees.

threestepsforward · 31/07/2012 21:57

Yay, well done Invisible! You feel good afterwards don't you?

Glad you enjoyed it too Xelliex. Knees sound problematic though? Sad Is it them that hurt going up and down stairs? Perhaps could go easy on some of the knee-intensive stuff until they ease? (You can substitute some moves that your knees don't like with other stuff - if you can pinpoint what the moves are, we can offer alternatives Smile) Do you find they hurt in the gym?

Lizzy, wanted to pop back as I had a thought. You can buy lots of the turbofire DVDs on e-bay individually I saw a while back. There may be HIIT DVDs on there selling on their own, rather than as part of the bumper pack... might be of interest?

Thanks Threesteps. Yep I feel great, I'm sure I won't be saying the same tomorrow morning when I have to roll out of bed. Grin

My stomach muscles were already sore from previous exercise and it's hurt to cough today. Oh well, as the saying goes No pain no gain!!

TheInvisiblePoster · 31/07/2012 22:29

Oh and what's 6W6P that i've seen other posters mention?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 31/07/2012 23:13

Well done invisible Grin

Ouch at the knees kellie - are you doing lunges etc correctly?

No jillian today, AF arrived and completely wiped me out Sad Hopefully will feel better tomorrow. My periods are so heavy since DS2, a real pain.

3monkeys · 01/08/2012 00:36

My stomach muscles are starting to feel like I need to pull them in all the time! Is that what they feel like when they're starting to tone up?. Have never had any muscle tone before!!

Lizzylou · 01/08/2012 06:13

Aah, thanks Threesteps.
It is like I have learnt a whole new language, shred/ripped/Hiit etc!

Will have a look and see what I can get, thankyou Smile

Did week 2 Ripped last night, feel it is time to move on to week 3. Which scares me. I hate when I don't know what is coming next/how to do the moves etc. Ah well, will soon be all too familiar am sure.

grumpykat · 01/08/2012 10:44

Good morning ladies.
I have started 30 day shred properly (having ignored it through illness) although I haven't been doing it every day, more like 3 times a week. The level one had started to get easy, so today I did level 2. Which was hard but fun.
I'm just a bit worried about my knees- they really hurt during the static lunges and pendulum lunges. Is this normal, or should I replace them with something else?
I've come to this to try and stabilise my weight after kidney disease and lengthy steroid treatment which I've finally finished. I have a ridiculous jelly belly and about two stone to lose which I put on during treatment.
I've no idea what I weigh because I threw the scales away- I'll weigh myself in October (a year after hospitalisation) and compare it to the frankly terrifying 14 1/2 stone I weighed then.
You all seem so focussed- I'm hoping you'll inspire me on my mission!

ihatethecold · 01/08/2012 10:57

i have recently been doing 30ds, got a bit bored so ordered ripped in 30.

i like it much more. did it 4 days in a row as well as using MFP to count calories. i was absolutely knackered after 4 days. Ive had to have 2 days off exercise to recover.
i can see a change i body shape though, just slightly so far.

but im really struggling with tiredness at the mo.

GlassofRose · 01/08/2012 11:14

I'm liking the quickness of Shred. Think I sweated it more during BFBM

PerUnaBomber · 01/08/2012 11:39

I have owned 30ds for over a year now and shamefully only got round to using it yesterday. My incentive is my first holiday in 4 years which starts in 10 weeks time. My plan is to do the shred, then move on to ripped after that - then it will just be 2 weeks until holidays - any suggestions for what I could move onto after ripped? I am quite fit, do a fair bit of walking and occasional runs/yoga but am what the Japanese call skinny fat - absolutely 0 tone on my arms and stomach. Typical apple shape and so v keen to work on my middle - legs and bum are in good shape. Could I alternate 6w6p with the nmtz? I am a single mum who works full time, so DVDs are absolutely the only way I can exercise regularly. Thanks - I've loved reading this thread for inspiration!

xelliex · 01/08/2012 13:03

Threesteps I find it's mostly my knees that hurt going up the stairs although strangely they don't seem to bother me in gym. That said I don't do much high impact stuff, mostly the cross trainer, I can't run! I'm finding the jumping Jacks are really hurting so I might cheat a bit and do another move...

Alibaba I think you could be right about the lunges, I gone from not doing any moves like that to throwing myself into it. When i do L1 today I'm going to try and follow Anita and see if that makes a difference, I don't want to give up on it.

TheInvisiblePoster · 01/08/2012 13:26

I woke up sore in a good way, I love that I can feel this working. I did level 1 of 30DS this morning before breakfast and might even do it again tonight after the DC are in bed.Grin

The only problem i've found is my right knee is painful today and the jumping jacks are a killer so I'm wondering how i've hurt myself. Will rub some tiger balm on it later and see if that helps.

threestepsforward · 01/08/2012 13:39

Wow - so busy on here, it's fab!

Welcome all newcomers Smile

Invisible, 6W6P is 6 Week 6 Pack and L2 is generally thought to be the "Mother of all Workouts" Grin

Sounds like there are lots of knee problems going on. I'm not really an expert but definitely take it easy if they are hurting. It's a nightmare to rest when you are fired up, but you don't want to muck around with knees

With lunges you need to make sure your knee doesn't hang over/overshoot your feet. Have a look on youtube there's bound to be a video showing the correct form for lunges in better detail. If you get the form right, knee problems should be minimised.

If anyone's struggling with particular cardio stuff like jumping jacks, you could substitute it for boxing or something similar.

Off out in a mo but will be doing my Turbofire 40 when I get back, I'm looking forward to it, huzzah!

Hope everyone's having a great day Smile

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new shredders Smile.

Thank you those of you who reassured me re the scales - it was my fault for breaking my own rule of ignoring the scales and judging progress by mood, measurements and clothes. I do want to get below 10 stone but I need to find some reliable scales and measure myself same time/same clothes etc. So onwards and upwards!

On holiday at parents' house, been for a run with my DM and DH this morning. Just a 3 mile loop but some nice hills! I have brought my 6W6p with me to try and maintain my progress as I intend to eat, drink and be merry!

Lizzylou · 01/08/2012 18:34

I have just done week 3 ripped. I am a sweaty ball of puceness. Soooo much harder than last 2. I was rubbish!
Greedygirl, I am impressed that you are exercising on holiday and also as a family, that is fab.
