I have two of Bob's DVDs Ginger I would call it a step up from Jillian.
threesteps I'm so glad you like turbo fire. I'd say fire55 is probably my favourite despite being longer. Once you have the moves down, it becomes even more fun.
On a side note, my mum's partner lost his battle on Friday evening so have very mixed emotions at the moment

threestepsforward · 29/07/2012 13:05

CHST I'm so sorry. Sending you and your family strength and hugs Thanks

Greedygirl · 29/07/2012 13:47

Sorry to hear that CHST, that is very sad.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/07/2012 16:06

CHST I am so sorry. In my experience it is a different kind of grief when there has been a long battle with illness. Wishing you and your family strength and peace.

I didn't do anything yesterday, but I did L2 this morning and then we took the DCs swimming which has finished me off.

There is no reason why I shouldn't be able to fit Jillian in every day this week, and I've got my eating a bit more sorted out so hopefully I will start to see some results.
I need to keep up with DH, he has started cycling part of his commute (Waterloo to his office) and he is losing weight and toning up really fast the bugger Grin

gingercat12 · 29/07/2012 17:48

So sorry CHST.

gypsyfloss · 29/07/2012 19:20

Very intermittent wifi here so just a quick drop in. I am sorry to hear your news CHST x

Did 6w6p today for the first time in 5 days- God I have missed it. I felt so much better afterwards ...and it gave me licence to eat even more Portuguese custard tarts :)

Hope everyone is well and getting on with Jillian / Turbofire/ Insanity.

Greedygirl · 29/07/2012 20:03

Hi Gypsyfloss, hope you are enjoying your holiday.

I managed to fit in BFBM in today and really enjoyed it. Then we did a bike ride to the next village - my thighs are killing! I still hate those planks where you have to drop down to your elbows and then raise back up (don't know the names of the different moves) but feeling stronger on the whole.

notyummy · 30/07/2012 08:44

CHST - so, so sorry to hear your news.

Hope everyone is finding the Olympics inspiring.

Been away this weekend to a hotel with gym/classes, so did a spinning class (HARD!) on Saturday and a gym session (slightly less hard) yesterday. Did an Insanity session on Friday and may well do another today, depending on how I feel when I get in.

gypsyfloss · 30/07/2012 09:22

It's lovely Thankyou Greedygirl . Blue sky and hot sunshine- perfect :)

threestepsforward · 30/07/2012 17:04

Afternoon everyone!

I have been terrible! A 20 minute core session on Saturday and then nothing since then. A friend came to stay over the weekend and the amount we consumed (bad but yummy) was Shock

Things today really busy too so am planning a 20 minute HIIT session when I get back later this evening. Short but hopefully effective!

I really want to sort my shoe situation out as I'm just not effective in my dinner plates and it's putting me off working out Sad. Will be having a look at other footwear options this weekend and my birthday is fast approaching so I won't have to pay [yay!]

Hope everyone's doing well. CHST hope things are as easy as they can be at what must be an awfully sad time x

Greedygirl · 30/07/2012 19:22

Evening all!

Threesteps ikwym, I am going to have to sort my footwear out once I have been paid. Let me know what you find. I am sure you won't have done too much damage at the weekend, everyone is allowed a blow out now and then Grin.

Glad you are enjoying yourself Gypsyfloss, sounds lovely.

Well I am trying really hard not to have a massive tantrum after weighing myself at the local sports centre today. It was clearly broken Grin. I am now seeking out another set of scales to see if I like their numbers any better! I weighed in at 10 stone 3lbs a couple of weeks ago and these ridiculous scales reckoned I was 10 st 12 Blush. And i really have been good Sad. But my measurements say I have lost another half inch off bum and hips. Totally confused.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/07/2012 19:57

Greedy girl - fingers crossed those scales are wrong, measurements are what count though Smile

Managed to fit in Killer today, and I did some core work this morning.

Glam wedding is 5 weeks Saturday, it is good motivation!

threestepsforward · 30/07/2012 20:35

Well done Ali! You sound like you're doing great, and 5 weeks is lots of time to do good work Smile

Greeygirl, when I read your post I thought it can only be muscle that's caused it. I may be wrong but I'm sure I'm not !

I reckon you've been working out long enough to have built some muscle, and if the scales are up, but your tape measurements are down, then you've lost fat and gained lovely lean muscle, I'm sure of it!

Another thought though, could it be water retention? (time of the month etc.?)

Don't be disheartened and keep measuring, as long as those tape measurements are going down it's all good Smile

Will keep you posted on Shoe-Gate!

I did my 20 HIIT. It was great, and I did sweat, but I defintely didn't give the 110% she wanted me to Grin. Think a combination of room space, not being totally familiar with the moves and the noise I now make in trainers held me back a bit from really going for it. Room for improvement, which is good Smile

threesteps I love the hiits, 25 is probably my favourite. (Havent done hiit 30 yet though)
Thanks for your kind words everyone. Funeral is next tuesday (I live 2 1/2 hours away from my mum) and we go on holiday early wednesday so it is going to be a huge rush.
greedy have you weighed yourself there before? I always stick to same scales as it varies a lot depending on surface you weigh on etc etc. My weight fluctuates a little too.
gypsy glad you are enjoying the holiday

I did Bob Harper total body transformation today. I am actually enjoying the burn. It kills your arms and thighs but the more I do it, the more I like it. Same with the cardio 3 Jillian workout that I nearly puked after the first time, am starting to enjoy that too

kid · 30/07/2012 23:12

I'm off on holiday soon and after a lack of exercise recently, I decided that I needed to try and catch on some. My plan is to do shred twice a day for 11 days (until I go on holiday)

I've just completed my 4th shred and I am aching like mad but I am impressed with myself for actually sticking to it. Ok, its only day 2 but still Grin

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 31/07/2012 08:02

Am back, after 2 weeks off sick and three weeks holidays. Did lots of cycling and surfing on holiday so kept reasonably active. Will JM tonight and expecting aching muscles tomorrow!

notyummy · 31/07/2012 08:56

Was going to do Insanity yesterday but couldn't face it. Went running instead. Will HAVE to do do it tonight though.

Lizzylou · 31/07/2012 09:11

Getting to grips with week 2 Rippedin30 now, which means I now need to go up to week 3 I suppose . Can definitely tell a difference in shoulders and core, legs and bum still like sacks of cottage cheese though Hmm

Can I ask, what is HIIT?

notyummy · 31/07/2012 09:23

High Intensity Interval training

3monkeys · 31/07/2012 09:54

Go on holiday 2 weeks today!! Think the shreddig is finally starting to work. Have even managed to do it whilst staying at my mum's!

Lizzylou · 31/07/2012 10:47

3Monkeys, 3 weeks here

So, this HIIT, are there any DVDs? I have googled and there are lots on websites/youtube. I suppose I could do via youtube through TV? Any recommendations?

I have more time next week so was thinking of stepping up the workouts a bit.

threestepsforward · 31/07/2012 12:29

Morning everyone!

3monkeys well done you! That takes dedication to carry on when you're away, something I'm not very good at doing!

Lizzy, I'm not sure if there are any specific DVDs for HIIT. There are in my turbofire pack, but that's a pack of about 10 DVDs that includes other longer workouts too (and costs about £100 for the lot Shock!)

Notyummy was telling us about tabata training (have a google), which is very similar I think. You go all out on a cardio exercise for 1 minute, then rest for 1 minute, then repeat the cardio, rest etc. You can do as few as 3 mins cardio (with rests) or more. I think the longest HIIT DVD I have is 25 mins (bearing in mind that includes rests + warm up / warm down).

So, if you picked any kind of cardio (high knees, jumping jacks, mountain climbers etc.) and really go for it as above, that's a HIIT basically.

You can google 'tabata timers' and find stopwatch type timers that time your cardio and rest phases. I think the key is really giving it everything - if you do that, it's apparently a very effective way to burn fat (around 9% more effective than 'traditional' cardio workouts according to turbofire laydee).

Will be doing my 55 min turbofire DVD later. My jeans are definitely feeling more snug, no surprise at all to be honest! My lovely dog is suffering very badly from arthritis and we've been told not to walk him, (started around a month ago) so it's really reduced the exercise I'd normally do in a usual day. He's a ball of energy usually and it's really hard seeing him struggle recently, he's 13 Sad

Will check in later Smile

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 31/07/2012 12:31

Ah, just re-read CHST's post, the longest HIIT DVD in the turbofire pack is 30 mins!

OP posts:
CHST · 31/07/2012 14:10

threesteps sorry to hear about your doggy :(
I think I saw some tabata style workouts on you tube. I think you need an interval timer for that though I'm pretty sure a couple were in real time?

I did level 2 6w6p after quitting a few minutes in the last time. First time I finished it. I had to tell myself to carry on though. Is it me or does anyone else find the second go around bordering on dangerous? I mean those static lunge chops, the rate she is going, you could really injure yourself if you are not careful. may I ask what size weights people use for this one as I started with 2kg but dropped down to 1kg half way through the second time as I just couldn't get the speed with knee thrusts. It got me sweating a lot but Im not going to lie, it's not my favourite of hers.
We go on holiday a week on wednesday. The funeral is tuesday and I live 2 1/2 hours from my mum and our flight is early so beginning of next week is going to be super tiring

Happypiglet · 31/07/2012 15:41

I am back!!! A bit later than I promised as although we got back (after a horrendous M5 drive) on Friday evening I wimped out over the weekend and didn't restart Jillianing Blush....
Anyway kids at a gym club today so forced myself to do Ripped L1. That was enough for my first day back in over a week. No doubt will feel it tomorrow.
Sorry to hear your news CHST...early next week sounds hellish for you so be nice to yourself.

Will try to do something every day the rest of the week although tricky with DC at home.
Going to Olympic diving on Sat and them off again to France next Weds for hopefully some bikini weather so I need to make this week count...
Please feel free to kick me up the bum to get me going!!!
