Gingercat Congrats on the loss, that's really inspiring!

I did day 11 of L1. I'm hoping to move on to L2 tomorrow.

CHST · 22/07/2012 20:23

well done ginger on the weightloss, that is fantastic!
No Jillian for me this weekend. Today I went on a long walk along some cliffs, lots of hills and steps so that was enough exercise for today! Over the next few days I am going to crank it up a bit as the in laws are coming on wednesday so not sure what I will get done while they are here!

SpringGoddess · 23/07/2012 06:39

Can I join you ladies. First day of summer holidays and Iit tend to use Jillian to maintain and hopefully improve my fitness over the summer. I usually go for a jog a couple of days a week, do a bootcamp in the park once a week and walk the school run everyday. With the kids being at home over the summer and going on holidays, my fitness routine falls apart and i usually end up a few pounds heavier. I'm hoping Jillian can help me tame the sloth.

ILoveLemonCurd · 23/07/2012 08:49

Hi Spring! I have the same problem with the holidays, my routine disappears! I usually run in the day with my youngest in the buggy but I can't do that now. So Jillian and trying to get out in the evening is the best I can do. I have 5kg to lose.....

Which DVD are you doing?

SpringGoddess · 23/07/2012 09:15

I have The Shred already on Dvd, done level one this morning. Cardio was relatively easy, strength is my failing I have no arm muscles. Was thinking of buying a different download from iTunes to play on my iPad while away on holiday - sounds over keen but it's pure damage limitation. Grin

threestepsforward · 23/07/2012 11:39

Morning all and welcome IloveLemon and Spring Smile

Ginger adding my congratulations to you on the weight loss, that is brill!

It was a Shredding weekend for me with nothing on saturday and I've eaten loads!!! Nuts, chocolate, cake you name it Blush

I'm going away from bank holiday weekend for a week so I'm really going to try and concentrate on my eating between now and then. Not dieting, just cutting out 90% of the crap I seem to be eating. If you take away that bit, my staple diet is actually pretty good Grin

My Turbofire has arrived!!! So to kick start this short era of goodness, I will be turbo'ing too. There's so much info in the pack it might scare me off so I'm just going to check what day 1 of the schedule is, stick on the DVD and get going...wish me luck!

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 23/07/2012 11:41

p.s. Spring maybe look at Ripped for your holiday. It's short like the Shred so you'll feel like you've worked out, but won't have to spend too long doing it...

OP posts:
SpringGoddess · 23/07/2012 12:33

Thanks threestepsforward have just downloaded the first week of ripped. I plan to go for a long run on Sundays and do the bootcamp once a week if I can make it. Saturday is a planned rest day. Looking forward to seeing some muscle definition in my arms - which are pathetically weak.

threestepsforward · 23/07/2012 14:00

You'll soon start seeing the definition Spring, I'm the same in that I really find the strength stuff hard but you'll definitely see improvements and in not that long too...

Well, hmm. I just did my first Turbofire workout. I would say for about 80% of it I hadn't a clue what my hands and legs were supposed to be doing, despite watching the new to class section. (Was the Fire 30 disc). It was like 6W6P x 100 speed! Mainly punches and I was just flinging my arms around any which way!

I've realised choreographed stuff is not one of my strengths! Will I get better CHST? Do you think it matters if I'm not doing her moves as long as I'm generally flinging myself around? Grin

Apologies everyone for going a bit off-JM-topic here!

gingercat12 · 23/07/2012 15:20

Thanks. Don't know whether to laugh or cry, but my brand new posh swimsuit for our spa holiday is too big for me. I bought it about a month ago, never worn it. Hope they still have it in smaller size (unlikely). I bought it in advance, as I do not really have a good record on weight loss / toning, so I thought it will still fit. Jillian must have worked her magic on me. It made me work extra hard today. Imagined myself to be Basheera.

Threesteps Turbofire sounds lethal. I checked out both Turbofire and Insanity. I am not sure it is my level. What is an agility ladder they mention in Insanity?

I also checked out the Exercise TV, and recorded Bob Harper to see what he is like.

DH suggested that if I am so pleased with these dvds, but would like a change, perhaps I could check out charity shops. I told him that I do not think I could find JM there. Her dvds work... I will hold onto mine until they literally fall apart.

SpringGoddess Sorry for my ignorance, but what is bootcamp?

gingercat12 · 23/07/2012 15:25

JudysDreamHorse I have only just worked out where I went wrong with the plank twists, so I can describe them as well. When you pull your left knee up, you need to lunge forward to bring your knee nearer to your right armpit and bend your left arm a little bit while also twisting your core. Jillian was showing it on poor Basheerah in 6W6P.

gypsyfloss · 23/07/2012 16:20

Love the shrinking body/too big swimsuit gingercat :) Hope they have a smaller one for you.

Teen DD fake tanned me last night for our holiday and it has done wonders for my abs...well that and 6w6p Grin .

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun. I look forward to reading all the updates, especially the Turbo Fire and Insanity ones when I get back.

CHST · 23/07/2012 16:20

threesteps you will get better I promise! Do you see the breakdown versions? They take you through the moves so they can help also. I was flailing everywhere first time too. Did you have fun though?!
ginger the agility ladder is for the asylum workout which is the extra workout after insanity to take you up to 90 days if you so wish.

I had a date with Bob today and he kicked my arse again though I must say I feel a slight improvement from last time! I was dripping buckets by the end. What is slightly annoying is that the guys in the dvd struggle a lot which is fair enough but at times their form is sooo poor and Bob doesn't correct it and they don't sub lighter weights.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do on my holiday for exercise? I really want to do something but am going on a plane so dh says I cannot take weights boo :( I could take dvds though or cardio/bodyweight only. Any reccomendations?

notyummy · 23/07/2012 16:39

I have burn fat boost metabolism on my iPhone for when I am away as you need nothing other than trainers and sports bra. 6W6P is doable with just a litre water bottle as well.

threestepsforward · 23/07/2012 17:00

Ginger fingers crossed they have the smaller size, wow you must be chuffed though - although bitter sweet chuffed!

CHST I agree that BFBM would be the perfect one due to not needing anything, you could chop off circuits if you didn't have the full 40 mins. Also some of the Turbo HIIT discs maybe?

Thanks for reassurance re turbofire. I did enjoy it, and the time flew, and actually I'm feeling quite worked out several hours later, which I didn't expect as I sweated a fair bit but not as much as BFBM. I did feel a bit like a librarian who'd wandered into the wrong room for a bit, but that passed Grin

Hope you and Gypsy have fab holidays Smile

gypsyfloss · 23/07/2012 17:13

I'm taking 6w6p and her yoga on the iPad and also
hope to run. I feel very motivated ATM and don't want to lose that but am very aware that holiday lethargy may well overcome me Grin

Thankyou Threesteps :)

gingercat12 · 23/07/2012 18:12

Hope you'll have brilliant weather, gypsyfloss

ExcitedElectrons · 23/07/2012 18:23

Hi everyone, still doing my ripped in 30. Saw a difference after level 1 so went to level 2 but I just found level 2 so boring! So I went to level 3 and I much prefer it! Even though I'm only on day 1 :o off to do day 2 now!

Greedygirl · 23/07/2012 18:33

Oh have a lovely time gypsyfloss, do you think you will be able to get up and do it first thing...I know that is not really what a holiday is about but that is the only way I would be able to do it?

Congrats gingercat, that is the nicest kind of problem to have! Will you be able to sell the too big swimsuit on?

Hello everyone else and welcome to the new shredders!

Well I have been a bit rubbish, did 6W6P Level 1 on Saturday and really enjoyed it after my brief fling with Level 2. Spent all day at the seaside yesterday, resisted the icecream but ate too many chocolate chip cookies! Intended to shred later but it never happened. Did Ripped L1 off the tele today. Enjoyed it, think I will buy the DVD when i get paid. I like the idea of having a 4 week challenge.

I am off to summer school tomorrow so I was thinking I wouldn't get a chance to do anything for a couple of days but, inspired by CHST I am going to take my laptop and a DVD (probably Shred) to do tomorrow evening and, if I feel safe, i might get up and go for a run before breakfast on Wednesday. Feel like I have hit a bit of a plateau so want to push through and burn some more fat!

gypsyfloss · 23/07/2012 19:33

Thanks Greedygirl. In theory the morning would be an ideal time to do it.I'll have to see how energetic I feel- I'm not known for my morning exertions on holidays! Or I could do evenings when it cools down a bit. I don't do booze anymore so I have plenty of evening hours to fill...although I have promised the Dc that we'll play tennis ( or our version of it) each night. Enjoy your summer school :)

SpringGoddess · 23/07/2012 20:00

gingercat bootcamp is an hour long workout in the park/outdoors with a fitness instructor, a bit of circuits, strength, intervals....it pushes me beyond my limits and always leaves me sore for a couple of days but also I have someone who makes sure I am doing all these exercises correctly....there are sessions held all over the country.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 23/07/2012 21:47

Evening Shredders!

I'm thinking of trying this, but am not sure that I fully understand what I might be letting myself in for!

Can someone fill me in, and let me know what equipment I would need if I do decide to go,for it?!

gypsyfloss · 23/07/2012 22:20

Hi The 30 Day Shred ( known on here as 30DS) is 3 levels of about 20 mins length broken into strength, cardio and abs works. You start on Level 1 and work up , after about 7-10 days on each level. Some move up sooner than others but it's personal preference. You'll need hand weights...most start with 1kg and move up to about 3kg- you can pick up a mixed set in Argos/tesco.

It is hard work and the first few days give you the world's most stiff thighs. But if you keep plodding on through the discomfort it is a hugely successful programme. I haven't read of anyone on here not getting something out of it.

Ideally you should weigh yourself and measure your body prior to starting so that you have a baseline to measure against and to feel proud about.

Go for it Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/07/2012 22:55

Urgh I haven't exercised since Wednesday! Unless you count hosting a party for 4-year olds and then a day at a theme park today?
Life has just got in the way, and the boys have been waking so early - day has started at 5.30 for the last 4 days Sad

Really want to get back in the groove, it was going so well and I was starting to see results. Planning to shred immediately that DH gets in from work tomorrow.

CHST · 24/07/2012 08:26

Alibaba life gets in the way sometimes so don't beat yourself up about it
gypsy have a lovely holiday

Today I got up earlier and decided to take it easy. Did Body Revolution workout 4 though I sweated a lot (think it is the weather)
Have a tough journey to make today. Mums dp does not have long left and we are making a mad dash to see him today with the kids.
Have the IL's coming tomorrow (lucky me) not sure if I can deal with them but at least can go in another room and shut the door
