Decided to try L3 shred today and now my everything hurts.

Managed 1 whole push up thingy - the one with the arms to hands and back again and then had to do the rest on my knees. Decided not to attempt any other push up/ab moves without keeping knees on floor.

Ow, ow, ow...

chicklitwriter · 17/07/2012 21:49

Just did day 6 of L1 30DS. I feel like I've turned a corner, all of a sudden everything is much easier. Don't get me wrong, it's still feckin' tough but I was able to do some of the advanced moves and got more of the bicycle crunches done (I do ordinary sit-ups when I can't do anymore).

I have a chronic pain condition and have to be careful of my joints. This workout was hurting my knees and ankle a bit but a new pair of trainers made a world of difference.

I'm so impressed with all of you with your multi DVD combos. Hoping to get to that level over the next few months. Smile

CHST · 17/07/2012 21:57

Gypsy I love extreme shed and shred. It's a bit different from the other workouts and she isn't shouty no.
Quite a bit of kickboxing/Caipora in the first workout, the second workout is more traditional I guess with yoga.

gypsyfloss · 17/07/2012 22:26

Oh that sounds interesting. I'll have a look for it on youtube; might add it to the list for holiday.

missmakesstuff · 17/07/2012 22:50

Wow, lots of new posts, I feel very rubbish as I haven't managed to get up to shred the las few mornings - determined to do it tomorrow though - I have had a manic few days at work was up marking until 1am last night, then just have finished up for the day now.

Coupled with a glass of wine, I cannot do shred now...But will in the morning, I have three mornings to do it, then the sat/sunday off (maybe just saturday - camping at a beer festival, will have to do it Sunday evening!) then three mornings before this wedding...

My back has been so sore though, I think I might try L3 Shred, as the walking pushups are wrecking my back, as are the other plank exercises.

I have measured my body fat, and it is going down, but I'm not seeing much else change, apart from my arms..

Jelli those stats are amazing - I am like the old you - 10st 2, mesurements about the same - I do think though this is just me now, I am curvy but feel ok at this weight - until I see myself in photos...then it all goes wrong, my self confidence plummets and I am back to square one..oh well, less wine, more Shred, it's the only way!

Good luck everyone!

worldgonecrazy · 18/07/2012 08:15

A very wimpish BFBM this morning, lots of breaks and stops for a drink. Felt great when I'd finished though.

Keep going everyone - smell that fat burning!

VenetiaLanyon · 18/07/2012 10:27

Morning Shreddies!

L2 RI30 this am; an doing this all week.

It took a year, but I lost 30 lbs shredding, and it has just occurred to me that Jillian helped me lose the equivalent in weight of approx 4-5 new born babies - quite staggering Grin

Anyone else struggle to go down to the ground on crow push ups? I just dip the teeniest bit, but still find that immensely challenging

Dolallytats · 18/07/2012 10:31

Bit peeved this morning. I can't shred today because my IBS has flared up (Sorry if TMI!!) so I have a painful belly & have to run to the loo every few minsBlush. I only had 4 hours sleep last night because of it too, so it just isn't going to happen.

Happypiglet · 18/07/2012 10:49

Hi all
had three days of enforced rest as away Sunday and then had my own kind of life Insanity hit on Mon and Tues with back to back stuff...including my DDs 5th birthday yesterday which started at 6am so I couldn't even get up early to exercise...finally sat down at 10.30pm last night....last week of term syndrome.
Things have quietened a bit now so found time to do BFBM! Haven't done a longer DVD for AGES and it was tough.... world I also stopped a few times, phoned in jumping jacks and allowed myself some time to recover pulled myself out of my sweaty heap from circuit 6 which is the spawn of the devil, before carrying on....
Feel good now. May do NMTZ tomorrow and then a quicky on Friday. Then off camping for a week so no chance there... and the jet stream is moving so we might actually see some sun!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 18/07/2012 10:51

I moved on from level one to level two last night and what a difference.......I did sort of want to die at a couple of points so yeah for me, this level much better :). I will stick to level two for a week or so and then will shift to level three.

It's my wedding anni today so out for a meal later...gonna try and squeeze it in though before I go out!

Loving the walking pressups :) but hating the squat thrusts Hmm

I also like the fact that all of them have achievable figures and arent just like a bunch of stick insects.

notyummy · 18/07/2012 11:18

Crow press ups are hard. I can do 3/4 right to the ground, then I start just dipping....and then just grind to a halt!

4 or 5 babies - that is amazing Venetia - well done you!

Insanity fit test on Monday, 5 mile run yesterday and Insanity cardio 1 today. O.M.G. Those of you who have Ripped - imagine that cardio circuit in L4 where you do jump squats straight into burpees (or something like that - basically the one that is a killer). Speed it up slightly, and do it for much, much, MUCH longer. Take a 30 second break. Then repeat. For quite a few times. It's not all the same exercises so you dont get bored, and there is plenty of time given over to stretching. But it is undoubtedly tough. I particularly liked Hmm the burpees into 4 press-up into mountain climbers....and then jump into a burpee again.

If I am not 0% body fat body goddess after just that workout there's going to be trouble Grin.

gingercat12 · 18/07/2012 12:23

Have been shredding lately, as we were away and thought L2 6W6P would be just too long. Am dreading getting back to it. My favourite quote in that is "It's kind of like a horror movie..." I could not agree more.

Crow pushups are hard for me, too. But [hangs her head in shame] I have only just realised how to do plank twists properly after seeing Bashira being twisted... Maybe you need some core fitnees to do these properly.

SchrodingersMew · 18/07/2012 12:32

Greedy Not yet as DS is unwell and by the time I got him to sleep it was too late (we're in a flat with downstairs neighbours).

Am now dying to try it!

chicklitwriter · 18/07/2012 13:13

Dolallytats: I can empathise with that. Hope it doesn't last too long and you get some rest.

Brew peppermint tea ftw

MegBusset · 18/07/2012 15:53

Well my weights arrived today... but so did my period! So am drinking hot chocolate instead of shredding.

How does everyone fit it in around the DC? Mine are 3 and 5 so not easy to see when I'll do it in the holidays... by the evening I just need to collapse with dinner and Wine!

Also. I have been shredding for about two weeks and put ON weight. Is that right?!!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 18/07/2012 15:54

My DS is 9 so a bit easier - I tell him to come and jump along with me..he usually just watches and takes the piss though :)

If you're not dieting then yes it is possible to put weight on....dont be fooled into thinking a 20 min workout alone will shed pounds......75% is diet, only 25% exercise for weight loss.

Dolallytats · 18/07/2012 16:06

Thanks Chicklit!! Hoping to get back to it tomorrow, fingers crossed.

notyummy · 18/07/2012 16:20

Shred only burns 187 (rough estimate based on a medium sized friend - that's what her heart rate monitor said.) It has longer term benefits because you build lean muscle that burns fat. But yes, unfortunately you cant justify any additional eating/drinking splurges on shredding alone. Double shreds and running (not necessarily on the same day!) and then you may be looking at some serious calorie burn. Blooming tough, isn't it?

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 18/07/2012 16:26

I do a gym class every morning such as spin or body zone and am topping up in the evenings with shred....I dont think 20 mins alone would cut it for me.

CHST · 18/07/2012 16:40

Meg I quite often get up early to work out or in the afternoon after we are home for the day. My two are the same age and can occupy themselves for a while so I can do it. I put on weight at first too with shred. Probably water retention. I have lost 15lbs from my original weight since January though so stick with it!
I actually love crow push ups
Betty happy anniversary! Enjoy your meal!
Dolally I have flare ups of IBS so I know how awful it all is. I hope it settles down soon
Venetia that's some weight loss. Congrats!!
Notyummy good luck with the insanity, it seems really intense!
Level 2 shred for me today and wont be doing it again in a hurry. Those chair sits with a v raise are my most hated of all time move! Not a fan of the squat thrusters either. She does them different in different dvds. In body revolution, you have to pull your knees right to your chest and out again but slower and I prefer that but here, it's like double time. My legs don't like it!!!
Think I will do some turbofire tomorrow for a change, not sure whether it will be a hiit or a fire one, will decide tomorrow and Friday will see if I want a beating from Bob again or take it easy

Overreactionoftheweek · 18/07/2012 16:43

ny oh I don't like that last post at all...I want to be able to stuff my chubby face after Shred! Haha, this is why I still look pregnant Grin

I've eaten all the junk food in the house now and am banning dh from buying any more...it's the only way to keep me on a diet, my will power is shocking.

Only a week and a half until my son's christening - obviously I'm not going to manage a wondrous change by then but am hoping everything will be pulled in tighter at least. I need to provide measurements for my bridesmaid dress at the end of August so if there are any more posts about me eating badly before then, please give me a kick up the bum!

worldgonecrazy · 18/07/2012 16:53

overreaction if you have the time then BFBM may be a better option. That burns around 400 calories but it does take 50 minutes to do, rather than the half hour that the Shred takes (including time to get gear on, get drink, wind up DVD etc.)

chicklitwriter · 18/07/2012 17:35

Day 7 of 30ds L1. I. Nearly. Died. My stamina has improved but I found today so tough. My face is like a sweaty tomato.

I lock the door when I'm exercising (my kid is 7 so can amuse himself for 20 mins). The idea of anyone seeing me jiggle like a bowl of jelly on a waltzer while I do it is too much to bear. Sad

MegBusset · 18/07/2012 18:18

Mine can't be left alone together for five minutes without World War 3 breaking out. DS2 has given up his nap too which doesn't help. And DH is working from home from tomorrow til the end of next week so I'll have an audience of three :(

MegBusset · 18/07/2012 20:36

Well after all my whinging earlier I shredded before dinner. Third day on L2 but first with my new 1kg weights and feel like my arms are about to drop off. I don't think I'll EVER be a twice-a-day-shred-and-run person but at least I cancelled out the hot chocolate Grin
