Here we are, a brand squeaky new thread Smile

Happy Shredding / Ripping / BFBM'ing / 6W6P'ing / Killing Hmm / NMTZ'ing

OP posts:
gypsyfloss · 12/07/2012 21:22

greedy just read yr other posts. It's definitely only this time round that I am feeling 6w6pk in my muscles and I think that's because I am using 2kgweight for the floor stuff too. I use 3kg on the upright stuff and tbh probably could have a crack at 5kg , certainly for the first circuit. You're more than welcome to my copy of Ripped gathering dust here...it just doesn't float my boat at all but it would be good to see it put good use. Let me know if you do.

CHST · 12/07/2012 21:52

Just thought I'd let you know for those without ripped, someone has put all 4 levels on you tube. There's quite a bit of Jillian there now!

gypsyfloss · 12/07/2012 21:59

There is CHST and I have been acquiring it for my holidays. I say I but in reality I gave DH a list and he's going to do whatever the complicated and dull thing he does to get it onto the iPad.

febes · 13/07/2012 01:25

NMTZs today. It was hard today. I do have a bit of a cold. 2 more days of freedom until work starts again on Monday so I want to get 2 more good workouts in. Next week we are staying with my parents as our new au pair doesn't arrive until Friday so need my mu for child care so exercise will be more of a challenge. I might try a run though.
notyummy does your DH run with his spodyalits (sp) I am seeing GP about it on Monday afternoon so see what he says. I'm sill on daily antiflams and painkillers which I need but as you say exercise is good for it and it feels good to strengthen my core. I do like running though and it really helps to maintain weight.

worldgonecrazy · 13/07/2012 07:34

Just did most of BFBM, look like I've been in a sauna but worth it. Even managed a feeble attempt at standing mountain climbers.

Still can't do the plank twists so just did crow push ups instead.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/07/2012 11:22

L2 Shred done.

I had a rest day yesterday because I took the DCs to see my parents, I did do a lot of press ups though - I have an app on my iPhone which is slowing taking me from being able to do 5 press ups on my knees to 100 full press ups. This will take about 10 years to achieve I am sure, but I am getting there!!

Off to MILs this weekend so exercise will be tricky. Their house is full of stuff, there isn't room to swing a cat never mind exercise! I am thinking about packing trainers though and then DH and I can maybe get out for a run if MIL and FIL are alright with the DSs for a little bit.

Dolallytats · 13/07/2012 12:02

Oh my Crapping Good God!!! I have just done my first 30DS workout and have discovered that I have NO upper body strength at all!! My arms are shaking!!! I don't dare hold a cup of tea at the moment unless I want to redecorate the walls!!

How does everyone manage to do this one for 10 days, let alone go on to the next level?!? Even as I am typing my fingers keep hitting the wrong keys...I have no control over my shaky limbs!!!

I am a 38 year old (obviously!!) unfit mum of 2 who weighs in at 14st 7lbs. I am only 5'2 and don't want to resemble a ball any more. Please encourage me to do this again tomorrow!!

VirtuousVamp · 13/07/2012 12:20

The fact that you've done one is a good start Dolally! Grin. You will probably find over today and tomorrow you feel as if you are unable to move let alone climb stairs, but it does get easier - I promise you!! So don't let that put you off! Keep at it - this thread is great for making you feel guilty if you've "phoned, e-mailed, written personally" it in, as JM says!!

I'm feeling a tad disheartened as I've been going for 21 days now and actually putting on a couple of pounds - haven't measured for 2 weeks though, so hoping I see some improvement in that tomorrow morning! Confused But I can definitely tell that I am getting fitter - my CV recovery rate is much quicker in spinning this morning and I could push myself further and faster than before, so it's definitely doing something!!! And I'm convincing myself that underneath my snowdrifts of lard there are actually muscles forming and I can feel them at times!! Grin

Keep it going ladies!! Grin

VirtuousVamp · 13/07/2012 12:22

In JM's defence, I haven't actually been following her diet plan and in fact have been snacking and munching on all the wrong things far too much due to RL stresses! so she's probably actually keeping me more undercontrol than I should be!!Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/07/2012 13:30

Dolally keep going, you will be amazed at how quickly your strength improves.

VV - I haven't been following her diet plan either. I know I am eating at a deficit though, so it is only a matter of time before the weight starts to come down again. My weight has plateaued since starting shredding, but I am definitely a little bit thinner. The bit that seems to be improving the most is my back and round my collarbone/neck area - it does have the smallest snowdrifts!! Grin

Greedygirl · 13/07/2012 13:50

Welcome dolally, that really made me laugh, it does get easier I promise you! It was my thighs that were shaking after the first couple of shreds and I could stand or lie down but struggled with anything in between which made stairs rather tricky! I too had no upper arm strength to begin with, the planks on level 2 just looked like voodoo, but it is amazing how quickly it builds up.

vv around the 21 day mark I was also feeling a bit Hmm but I was like you and noticed the fitness markedly improving which spurred me on. I think the changes for me have been relatively subtle but I am definitely more toned all over, fingers crossed for your measurements.

Well I did 6w6p level 2 today and I much prefer it to level 1,I was a soggy mess and felt slightly sick afterwards so that's good isn't it Grin?! Thanks for the tip about YouTube CHST and thanks for the generous offer gypsyfloss, I may still take you up on it when I am finished with 6w6p. Level 2 has got the cardio I enjoy and I think with some heavier weights, I will still be getting the strength in.

Hope you are all having a good day.

MegBusset · 13/07/2012 14:04

Hello all, can I join in? I started Shredding a couple of weeks ago (would like to shift a few extra pounds I've been carrying since Easter Christmas forever well for a while anyway, plus generally tone up the legs and belly :)

I did about 7 sessions of 30DS L1 over two weeks and today moved up to L2, found the oblique twists a killer and can't do squat thrusts at all but otherwise managed to survive!

I have only been using tins of beans as weights though have just ordered some 1kg weights from Amazon. I have fairly muscular arms anyway so don't want to end up too ripped!

VirtuousVamp · 13/07/2012 14:44

Thanks for encouragement Greedy. Fingers crossed for the tape measure tomorrow - I've only lost an inch off my waist so far and I really don't want to lose any there!! It will make my boobs and hips look bigger than ever!!Confused

VirtuousVamp · 13/07/2012 14:46

Oh and Ali interesting you say that about collar bones - mine are more noticeable too now you mention it!! Yay!!Grin

VirtuousVamp · 13/07/2012 14:46

Oh and welcome Meg!!Smile

Dolallytats · 13/07/2012 15:12

Thanks VV, Ali & Greedy...now the shaking has worn off, I am (almost) looking forward to doing it again tomorrow!! That is, of course, assuming that I can get out of bed tomorrowHmm

notyummy · 13/07/2012 16:00

Hi Meg and Dolally! Shaking is quite normal! And there is a high probability that you will feel v stiff tomorrow. PLease believe me when I say that it actually eases off a bit when you start warming up and doing the workout again!!

Did manage my run yesterday - only 5 miles though because of a combination of my back and time. Better than nothing though! Saw a great motivational fitness quote yesteterday:

'However slow you are going, you are still lapping those on the couch.'

Did Killer L1 today as quite concerned about my back. Has been much worse than usual this week and I am trying to push things (not too many miles; heavy weights or jumping.)

Febes - DH runs a lot usually and finds it helps his spondilitus. That said, he has tendonitis (and perhaps a small tear) in his achilles at the moment so not allowed to run at all. He is most tetchy about it. No running; crosstrainer; jumping etc. He is allowed handbike, rower, NMTZ and pilates.

CHST · 13/07/2012 18:52

welcome dolally and Meg The first few days are always tough but it does get better I promise! Especially when you look in that mirror and start noticing small changes.
I felt badass today so did Shred level 3 and Killer 1
I found the last cardio circuit tough! (Squat Jumps and Rockstars) I was pleased to see I have come a long way though since I did shred last in Jan when I first started out! I did everything advanced and though it was challenging, I was doing beginner everything the first time around!
I love that there are mountain climbers in both shred and killer! lol
Anyway will be doing some yoga tomorrow morning and having a well deserved rest day on sunday. Have amazingly lost another lb this week taking me to 116 lbs. (8st 4) woot!
Have a lovely weekend everyone whatever you are up to!

missmakesstuff · 13/07/2012 21:01

Right, I need a giant kick to get me off the sofa to do Shred, I didn't get up early again this morning, so tired and my back was killing me, although feeling better now, have been meaning to do it since I got in but putting DD to bed etc took over...I could do it now, or I could crack open the wine..also have a load of folders to mark which are still sitting in the car.

Reading all that back it all sounds crap and like many excuses, so I am going to do it, then mark a few folders, whilst drinking a glass of red.

in a minute.

CHST · 13/07/2012 21:22

no excuses missmakesstuff !!!!
We all have days where we lose motivation and that is why you have come here for motivation no?! Just do it, you will feel great after I promise!

missmakesstuff · 13/07/2012 22:13

Ok, did it...V hot and sweaty, but have glass of wine and will now do some marking...

I am finding L2 easier, although still struggle to get the walking press ups done, not a strength thing, but just a flexibility thing I think.

I am finding my arms getting muscly, although using 3lb weights since the start so I guess that is about right? I have noticed odd hard bits on my abs under all the fat too...which could be muscles! I really want rid of the slightly flabby underarm thing that comes with big boobs, and my massive hips/belly.

Thinking about the belly, I just don't think there is an answer - my Pilates teacher is super fit, strong etc, looks great - but I noticed on weds that she has a wobbly tummy like the rest of us - so if she can't get it flat, what hope do I have!? Mind you, she also looks great, you would have no idea, so I guess it just goes to show...

I really struggle with the food, I am trying to only eat carbs earlier in the day, and with protein, no white rice/pasta as much as possible - got a food doctor book and that is what he suggests for steady weight loss, also to eat complex carbs, so no starchy food (like all the nice ones!).

VV difficult though, with an Irish DH who thinks a meal isn't a meal without potatoes...oh, and the ready availability of cake at work!

Oh well, do feel better now, day 5 of L2 done (I think!) I have 1 week till I am away for a weekend with no chance of exercise, then three mornings I can shred before the wedding..gaah! Cannot miss a day!

missmakesstuff · 13/07/2012 22:16

Oh, meant to say, Meg and Doollaly - I find that once you get warmed up Shred is easier, so like the second circuit - and it does just get easier, honestly!

You feel like you're going to die, to quote Jillian, but it is over in no time, just count down to the end!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 13/07/2012 22:42

There's a JM diet plan??! Where can I find that, please? I'm currently using the My Fitness Pal app which I'm loving but if JM also has nutrition advice I'd love to hear it.

Did L2 Shred after work again tonight. Going to do it tomorrow then think I'll have a rest day on Sunday and then move onto L2 on Monday.

VirtuousVamp · 13/07/2012 23:07

It says on Shred in the advice section to look online so assume she ha a website Kitty where her diet plan is - I'm assuming chocolate and crisps don't feature much on there so probably not for me at the moment!!ConfusedGrin

Dolallytats · 14/07/2012 07:53

Well, I feel stiff and sore this morning but not too bad. Hopefully I will get 30DS done later, bit too early in the morning for torture at the moment!!
