threesteps It probably did feel like that yes but as with other Jillian workouts that have felt challenging the first time around, I know with practice, they get more doable. I also think the Body Revolution taught me to also "dig deeper" as they say and push through when it hurts. When I was doing lunges today, my quads were on fire, and it kept going and going. In my head I had a realisation that yes it hurt but it probably wasn't going to get worse than it was so that helped me to push through it. I think it would be right up your alley actually!

archfiend · 11/07/2012 21:24

threesteps disco arm is that lovely shaky feeling you get when you have been tortured by Jillian done a lot of exercise. Also applies to legs (a friend of mine who climbs a lot taught me the expression). Grin

CHST · 11/07/2012 21:35

Greedygirl I am a biggest loser addict...they often have in on sky living. Also the Aus versions are on you tube.

threestepsforward · 11/07/2012 22:08

Archfiend - ahhhh! I recognise the symptom! An aside - my hound is 12 and has an almost permanently shakey leg which he sticks out at an angle, we call it his Angelina Jolie leg Grin

CHST, you know I reckon you're right! I think I've been coasting for a while now, under the guise of maintaining, and I think I'd benefit from stepping it up a gear. Strength stuff is my nemesis though

Am going to look on amazon tomorrow and take the plunge! Thanks for the advice... Smile

Re holidays- no excuses!! Grin Seriously though, if nothing else everyone can go for a run. I usually do Pilates and BFBM or 6W6P as I have them all loaded on my iPhone. If I am staying in a hotel with a gym then I use that, otherwise I do the workout above if I have space. DH and I did BFBM in my mum and dads garden once (not really overlooked.) So a mixture of strength stuff and running. There are loads of good sample 'hotel room' workouts on the Internet designed for people who travel a lot at work. They can be done in limited space with no weights.

Some seriously great work going on here! The Bob workout sounds scary! Wish it would come out in UK format. I have been toying with the idea of Insanity or PX 90 DVD sets and the husband of one of my friends is going to lend me his PX 90 so I can give it a go.

L3 Killer this morning. Deliberately chosen not to do L2 as I think it is harder. Plan a run tomorrow.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 11/07/2012 22:36

I'm feeling much better now and did L1 Shred today after a three day illness break. It wasn't too bad. Might give L2 a try later this week. I ordered NMTZs from Amazon yesterday, so hoping that comes soon.

I've also downloaded the My Fitness Pal app after someone mentioned it on this thread and it's fab! I love the fact I can see at a glance how many cals I've had and how many I've got left for the day, so it's really making me stop and think before I eat anything. I also seem to be making wiser choices with my food and that can only be a good thing.

CHST · 11/07/2012 22:36

notyummy they are available in UK format and region 1 on amazon. Even though they say region 1, they are actually region 0???? The ones that are UK format say 2012 after them so must be pretty recent

CHST · 11/07/2012 22:37

notyummy do let me know how the p90x is, Ive heard some good things!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/07/2012 22:44

I am a Biggest Loser fan too - love it Grin

I've just done L1 Killer. Didn't do all of it flat out because I got myself in a tangle a couple of times - it will be better next time! I surprised myself with what I could do actually. I did a couple of sets of double crunches on the end of it because it felt wrong to do a workout so light on abs after L2 of Shred!
I liked it though - I have always had strong legs which I guess helps.

notyummy - Hopefully does Insanity, she is on the eatmoretoloseweight thread.

archfiend - if it is possible to have disco arse then I have that Grin

Half inch off my waist, and my back is looking smoother. Need to go dress shopping for a v.glam wedding soon which is my motivation at the moment.

missmakesstuff · 11/07/2012 23:13

Evening all, I have had a manic day, I hit the snooze again this morning, think it is a midweek lull, need to get up tomorrow and do the shred, I will make myself! I did however do Anti-gravity yoga tonight, which is a new thing my Pilates teacher does, it is very odd - big hammocks that you use to do inverted exercises, flips, spins, chin ups etc - all a good work out, but a fair bit of sitting around watching her to work out how to do things too..

I also went on a school trip, so on my feet most of the day and climbed 500 odd steps up to the dome of st pauls! was amazing and exhausting, so hopefully all that will be enough to replace the L2 shred I should have done.

I am shattered and have a manic week and a half until a camping trip, then a few days till we go away for the wedding I have been trying to get slimmer for. I think when camping I will try running, swimming and a bit of a walk to pubs. good tip whoever said to put the dvds onto a phone, I think I can do it with my HTC, I hope so anyway!

I am finding this is helping as it is motivating me to do something everyday. Will check in again tomorrow, if we haven't washed away, it is torrential here!

febes · 12/07/2012 01:23

BFBM done

notyummy · 12/07/2012 07:06

Ali- yes, Hopefully is on the Wise and Avid thread- in fact I have met her in person via that thread and she is lovely. I think she has me to thank for getting her into JM! She then moved to Insanity and I know she rated it. It's a small world Grin.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/07/2012 07:38

Miss - I think 500 steps counts!!

Notyummy - yes of course she is, duh! Grin

VirtuousVamp · 12/07/2012 07:51

Morning morning!!

How is everyone doing?? I posted yesterday that I'd managed most of high level level 3 shred even with some proper push ups!!Grin. But MN seems to have eaten my postConfused

Anyhow just off to try again!! Finally some sunshine here which always helps in the mornings!

Great idea about putting DVD on phones for holidays not that I'm getting one this summer due to rubbish DH not getting any leave

So half-way nearly into my 45 day programme - still not seen much physical change but we'll see what the tape says on Saturday morning!

Feel such a beginner compared with all you hardcore ladies!! So mustn't put it off any longer.....!

worldgonecrazy · 12/07/2012 08:11

Morning everyone, switched it down to Level 2 of the Shred today as I felt the need for a change. Parts of it actually seemed easy though the strength bits were hard so I think I was right about needing to do more strength work to maintain my arms and keep the dreaded bingo-wings at bay.

I forgot who asked about holidays - I'm going to Ireland so I'm guessing will be covered up most of the time as Ireland isn't known for it's bikini-inspiring weather, but I live in hope!

Happypiglet · 12/07/2012 08:28

So after my successful L2 Ripped yesterday evening, and inspired by all you early risers, and having no time today, I got up at 6.15am and did it again!
Feel good now. This may be the only way over the next week that I can fit anything in so it was a trial run and to be honest it was OK.
May feel it later though after a manic day, helping at cycle night at Beaver Scouts and then straight on to a choir rehearsal until 10pm....
Still find that 2 minutes of plank CV impossible. I think it is because of the tough arm work in the strength bit before. I do 1.5 minutes and then cheat with some butt kicks for the lastbmountain climbers set... Blush
Hope everyone has a good and dryer day. Sun is out here finally!,

VenetiaLanyon · 12/07/2012 11:00

Just discovered the sub-titles on RI30, and discovered that press-ups in L4 are Chaturanga press-ups - have been wondering what this was for ages Smile

notyummy · 12/07/2012 14:21

That L2 cardio in Ripped is a killer Happy.

At last!! A nice day for a run. One more meeting and then I am heading home to put my trainers on.

missmakesstuff · 12/07/2012 16:02

I ot up and did day 4 of L2 Shred, finding myself following the more difficult one most of the way through, cannot do walking out press ups though, not without bending my knees on the way back up! I have got 2 weeks now till this wedding, my arms are looking great actually, I actually have biceps, and can feel the bingo wing muscles starting to firm up - my belly though is a mess still, I just cannot get rid of the little pot belly I have always got. Thinking the 6 pack one or one of the other abs ones you lot are all talking about might be good for when I come back from hols - also in Ireland world and in Kerry and Mayo so most probably will be covered the whole time too, although we have got wetsuits so might brave the beach!

threestepsforward · 12/07/2012 17:50

Afternoon all Smile

Hope you managed your run notyummy. It started raining here from the moment I stepped out the door this morning, and hasn't stopped since grr. I'm on the support team of a 100 km sponsored walk this weekend and the forecast is looking, well, shit, quite frankly. At least I'm not walking though Grin I will be in a field in a tent somewhere though overnight so am taking lots of layers!

Good stuff going on here as ever!

CHST I checked out bob harber on amazon and his Total Body DVD only seems to be in US import format. He does have a 'beginner' level DVD in UK format though. Only 3 reviews on it but they seem to agree his definition of beginner is tenuous! Might be worth a shuftie...(for me that is...)

I'm so unmotivated this week. I think it's a combination of the weather, no obvious goals to work towards and no further physical improvements for ages. I'm 40 this year and have violent new wrinkles under my eyes, I look like a tired badger, and I'm just a bit, meh!

I will be doing a quickie this evening though. And will be throwing myself back into action next week - once this weekend is over I have a fairly long run of not much so I can get stuck in!

Have a good evening everyone Smile

Greedygirl · 12/07/2012 19:37

HeLlo everyone. Another day of 6w6p for me. Liking it more but don't feel it is doing as much as shred. What is level 2 like gypsyfloss? Might try and push myself a bit more. I am missing the cardio.

Greedygirl · 12/07/2012 20:55

Just been reading some reviews of ripped. I want it! I like the idea of 4 weeks/4 levels. Going to do level 2 of 6W6P tomorrow and see if I feel anymore achy.

Greedygirl · 12/07/2012 20:55

And I need some heavier weights!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 12/07/2012 20:56

Level 1 of 30DS again today after work. Still can't get up early enough to do it on a work day.

gypsyfloss · 12/07/2012 21:14

Miss that's great that you're seeing the change in yr arms. Your tummy may take a bit longer, sadly it never seems to go from exactly where you'd like it to! Keep at the abs stuff and you will find yourself holding it in better, which I think is the first step in getting a strong and flat tummy. My DH who does quite serious weightlifting maintains that getting rid of the last bit of abdo fat is very much diet related too. Does that make sense? I've been up since 4 to take DD on a Sch trip and am a bit tired and dazed now.

threesteps hope you get your mojo back. The weather is most definitely not conducive to exercise. It was line drying weather this morning but has pissed down since 5pm here.

greedygirl I don't do L2, I found it too fast and cardio I think. it's been ages since I tried it. What I have done a few times is 2 out 3 sets of L2Shred followed by one set of L1 6w6pk; that's been a good combo.

I did nothing today other than a fast 3 mile yomp with the dogs.I'm looking forward to jillian'ing tomorrow, after I catch up on some sleep :)
