Evening all!

Softkitty poor you, hope you are properly on the mend. I'm an evening exerciser, could never do an early morning stint of Jillian, although I could surprise myself I guess!

Really great stories from everyone Smile

Virtuous don't worry! I have days when I do have the time and I don't get round to it. What is really ridiculous is the amount of time I spend thinking 'I do have time and should get round to it' is probably three times as long as the workout Grin

Eased myself back into it today with L3 Shred after a 3 day break. Used 3 kg for the strength (but upped weights to 5.5 kg for the clean and rise) and used 2.5 kg for the cardio with weights apart from the last boxing set when I had to drop down to 1.5...I'm certainly making good use of all my weights!

This weather is not motivational though is it Sad

Well done archfiend! (cross-posts)

Excellent use of weights threesteps :) You're right the weather is pants and for me that makes carb indulgence very appealing.

Sometimes I take the dogs out straight after Jillianing and I feel like that Archfiend...I want to just let my legs give way and lay down in the field.Thing is, it's fairly remote so I probably could do that and have a small nap and no-one would be any the wiser Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/07/2012 21:49

Well done everyone, this thread is so motivational!

L2 done today, I have found it on YouTube. I managed to do the 'press' of the walkout push-ups for the first time - so I can do a full press-up, albeit one at a time Grin

I have ordered Killer because I am keen not to get bored.

archfiend · 10/07/2012 21:59

Thanks! I think part of the problem is that I have been cold all day and have therefore spent the day hunched up trying to stay warm so my body wasn't very willing to unhunch that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it Smile

Hopefully tomorrow will be better! Well done to everyone else-it is motivating seeing how other people are getting on.

worldgonecrazy · 11/07/2012 08:24

Morning all, did BFBM this morning but my knee let me down right at the start of the second to last circuit so I jumped straight to the last circuit and swapped moguls for a feeble attempt at standing mountain climbers.

Does anyone else feel their muscles shivering gently for the two hours following a good workout?

Well done to everyone for keeping motivated and geeing each other along. I only have 2 and a bit weeks until I'm on holiday and taking a break for a month so I am pushing myself as hard as I can.

febes · 11/07/2012 09:19

Did NMTZs again today and planning to do BFBM tomorrow and then back to NMTZs on Friday. Work again on Monday. My holiday has gone so fast back to crazy busy full time teaching next week. This term is 11 weeks- so longer but luckily the weather will get warmer as the term goes on. Its been a freezing winter so far.

gypsyfloss · 11/07/2012 09:33

Where are you Febes? I did wonder the other day when you were choosing what workout to do at about 11pm here and then reported at 04.00 that you'd just done it. I couldn't decide if you were very enthusiastic, not able to sleep or just not in the UK!

I did Jillian's yoga instead of 6w6p today as I have an important meeting later this morning and wanted to start the day feeling zen-like.Hmmm, I do feel a bit chilled but also have muscles that twinge in odd places. It/I am a work in progress...

febes · 11/07/2012 10:01

In NZ! That would be keen to workout in in the wee hours Grin

VenetiaLanyon · 11/07/2012 10:21

Hi all,

I'm working through RI30 again, and really feel that the Hollowman is about to do my back in again; anyone any good tips / alternatives which aren't so tough on the lower back?

CHST · 11/07/2012 11:32

threesteps well done on the weights!
Ali I bet soon you will have quite some collection Grin
Archfiend keep going! I think I remember that with shred and level 2...level 3 is heaps better.
Febes you lucky thing! I'd love to live in NZ
world where are you off to? I am going to Italy in 3 weeks (I think) and am hoping to take some DVDs with me...not sure how I am going to manage in limited space but I refuse to give up working out!
Venetia I'm not sure what to suggest as a modification...plank hold, ab hold? What sort of back pain is it? Holding superman poses? I will have a bit of a think.
Today I did a 1 hour Bob Harper work out (total body transformation) The guy is a masochist!!! OMG I seriously had to take breaks. It was brutal and made my whole body feel like jelly. I couldn't even do the one legged dive bombers..how the hell are you supposed to do that?
Will do a cardio tomorrow not sure which one yet but something more gentle I think!

Nolda · 11/07/2012 13:31

Archfiend - sometimes there are days when you just don't have as much energy and it's harder. But well done on getting it done.

Threesteps - good effort on the weights.

Ali - Go on, buy them all (you know you want to!)

World - hope your knee is better today.

Gypsy - your mud-covered back might be a give away afterwards.

Did Level 1 shred with DH yesterday but used 2 kg weights for the cardio. Am feeling it on the sides of my ribcage today. Looking forward to finishing off 10 days of Level 3 Ripped tonight and starting level 4 tomorrow.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 11/07/2012 13:55

Not been on this thread for a while
Dad now out of hospital again, and things are, touch wood, more normal this week, well as normal as Alzheimers can be!

I have in theory finished RI30 as I have done all levels for a week. I HATED level 3, found it really started to hurt my knees so I barely did that for a week but all the other levels I have done for longer than a week.

I am only using 2kg weights although I just can't do supermans with anything more than 1kg and I can only do beginner Chuckeverythingup press ups or whatever they are called!

Haven't lost any more weight, fluctuating between 8 st 9 and 8 st 10 1/2. Makes me feel good though and my thighs are now really quite toned! Shame the weather isn't nice enough for shorts!

I am going to get NMTZ next. I don't think I would get on with loads of cardio in BFBM. I struggle with my pelvic floor all those jumping moves and if I ever have to do those crouching scissor jumps again I think my legs might fall off.

Venetia I also get back ache when doing the hollowman in Level 4. I just do the beginner version and do it slower so I don't do as many. Maybe you could repeat those one leg raises with the arm press thingies. I like those!

gingercat12 · 11/07/2012 14:30

This year is full of significant birthdays (e.g. mine) and anniversaries, so I went out to buy a dress. I needed a size smaller than I thought, and I bought the most flattering, fabulous dress I could find. I always hated shopping, but all this exercise makes it a lot less daunting. Thank you, Jillian and you ladies, keeping me on the straight and narrow.
In fact, my husband asked me how much I lost and a stone and a half made him really pleasantly surprised. I can never start to eat again.
Today it is L2 of the Shred for me, and L2 of 6W6P in the weekend.

gypsyfloss · 11/07/2012 15:08

:) @ gingercat - great weight loss and what a nice thing to be able to buy a fab dress in a size down. Great Job as Jillian would say!

febes ah that explains it. I have to admit to thinking you were a little weird when I read it Grin

My meeting today was about work in Sept; I've been studying and also a lady of leisure for the past few months. It'll be interesting to see how well I will fit in daily Jillian into what will be a fairly hectic schedule.

threestepsforward · 11/07/2012 16:12

Oh my, so so busy on here, it's great Smile

Hmm, Venetia, could you maybe just do double-crunches for the hollowman bit? Is your back okay with them? Might give you the upper and lower abs workout without so much stress on the back...

CHST, is Bob Harper more hard core than JM? If Jillian were 100% torture - how many percents would BH be?!

Well done everyone on the toning, weight loss and successful dress-shopping trips everyone! And the 2 kg cardio with Shred Nolda, that's impressive! I think JM should be following us rather than the other way around Grin

Hey Febes Hope all's well over there. Have a family wedding out there in Feb (some place off the North Island) but unless I win the lottery I won't be able to go, gutted Sad

Will be JM'ing this evening, but just a quickie, perhaps L4 Ripped...

will check in later Smile

Killer is here - amazon are so fast! I might give it a whirl later...

FerryGirl · 11/07/2012 17:31

I have been plugging along with Jillian and love it Grin. I am well onto level 2 now and quite enjoy the pain!

Quick qun - what do you all do on holidays? We have had a couple of weekends away in the tent and I have found that a couple of days off is ok, but not sure if I would recover from a fortnight off! Any tips gratefully received!

CHST · 11/07/2012 19:35

threesteps It's an hour as opposed to half hour Jillian which makes it especially viscious. There are cardio intervals but not hard ones and I didn't feel pushed by that. What made it bad was that you do a certain exercise like an arm swing and then instead of switching and doing the other side, you use the same arm and do another exercise using the same muscles and then another. He also has so many squat moves your legs just freaking kill. I had to seriously phone it in in parts but I figure I've got to start somewhere and work up. It would be no fun if it was easy straight away right?!
You get no rest, you go straight in to the next move. Not all exercises were as brutal but he does stuff like make you do a set of cable flys and then hold it for ages or prisoner squat lunges which have no rhythmn..he will tell you to switch legs, switch, switch and just as you think you are going again, he will tell you to hold. The worst exercise for me today was probably round the world push ups so first he made you hold plank for ages then do 5 pushups, you rotated your body to three o clock using your core and did 3 push ups, rotate to 6 o clock, 6 push ups, 12 o clock, 12 push ups.
There is a guy in the dvd and he literally crumbles,....Bob holds him in this squat and he is shaking so badly! He really gets picked on. In terms of strength, definitely a step up from Jillian though you could make it easier with lighter weights. Cardio wise, it wasn't particularly challenging.
I got it from Amazon and it was supposedly going to come from the US but it came from a warehouse in the UK (looks baffled) however, I think they may have a couple of his dvds now in UK format. I think I am going to get some more as it was a good change. Probably couldn't do it every day though, don't have an hour every day like that unless I do it in the evening which I prefer not to.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/07/2012 19:41

Bloody hell CHST that sounds horrendous! Well done for managing to do any of it!

archfiend · 11/07/2012 19:57

L2 day 6! Feeling better today, although I now have a serious case of disco arm!

CHST-wow. And also ouch!

Happypiglet · 11/07/2012 21:00

Good work everyone!
CHST that sounds fiendish...will stick with good old Jillian...I saw on Amazon today that Extreme Shed and Shred is out in early Sept. Presumably in UK format. Has anyone done this?
Ferrygirl I too am worrying about the summer. We are away camping or static caravanning for three weeks and will be unable to do anything. Well except swimming and biking!
The rest of the time I will need to banish the kids somehow... It might be my downfall. I don't want to put my half a stone back on tho!
That's why Extreme Shred may be coming out at just the right time for me as the kids go back!
Did L2 Ripped tonight. Thought I did quite well. I like this one more than L3 even did all the plank jacks and one set of mountain climbers woohoo!
Keep at it everyone..

threestepsforward · 11/07/2012 21:09

CHST - O.M.G. (as the yoof would say!)
That sounds truly horrible! Seriously well done you for doing it, and getting through it, and you're right about starting somewhere, I guess it must feel a bit like how it was starting out with Shred? I think I could safely say I wouldn't manage an hour of that! I might be brave enough to try one day not!

Ferrygirl, it's a tricky one. I think the longest I had off exercise since starting JM has been 10 days. It was an active holiday though with lots of beer I really didn't do as much damage weight/size wise as I thought. I think as long as you jump straight back on when you get back, and try and do at least some small form of exercise when you're away you should be fine.

Well done everyone on the the afternoon / evening shift! I did L2 Shred with my full array of weights. Tough today, really tough! Was sweating a lot more than I thought I would - which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it!

Will check in tomorrow. Another long weekend off so tomorrow will be my last chance to exercise.

Archfiend, what is disco arm, and how does one get it? It sounds fun Grin

CHST · 11/07/2012 21:11

Happy I have it. (region 1) Have done both levels once so far. They are about 45 mins each. First level is not too difficult but the second level I found pretty challenging...you can do either one or both levels together. I like it a lot :)

Greedygirl · 11/07/2012 21:11

Evening all. Gosh CHST that sounds nasty! I just googled him and see he was another trainer on Biggest Loser. I have never watched that programme - do any of you guys watch it? Any good?

Well done everyone for meeting targets. It is great to have something like a holiday to focus on. Now my spa weekend is out of the way, I need a new goal. Not doing any bikini type hols this year, so I am not sure what my next target should be apart from getting under 10 stone. Maybe that is enough!

Did a three mile run tonight and really enjoyed it. Back to JM tomorrow. Ali tell me what Killer is like when you get around to doing it, I have my eye on that for after 6W6P.
