CHST · 06/07/2012 19:16

Hello everyone. This weather sucks! Sorry you can't run notyummy
I have officially finished body revolution :( I am sad about it but it does mean that I can finally try out the Jillian workouts I haven't had a chance to yet like killer buns level 3, level 2 6w6p and level 2 extreme shed and shred. I'm also curious to see how I will find shred and ripped after doing body revolution. My Bob Harper DVD arrived in the post yesterday. I previewed and it looks really tough. I will be saving that for a day when I have more time. I think I am just going to decide on the day what I want to do.
Alibaba I am knackered to be honest but am going through a stressful time in my family life so think this is contributing. I feel like I need to exercise though. It gives me good distraction when I'm having a bad day. My eating really is up and down though. When I first started I was eating really clean. I find myself reverting back to snacking which got me in the mess in the first place and not eating proper lunch. I keep promising to have a better week but haven't been able. I'm not eating really bad though, still watch my portions. I don't know if it is the intensity of the exercise I have been doing that has made me feel hungry especially late at night.
What sort of things is everyone else eating?
Have a lovely weekend all, let's hope there is a break in the clouds!

Happypiglet · 06/07/2012 20:23

Wow it's busy on here...respect to all of you for all the enthusiasm.
CHST I just pick and choose a DVD on the day depending on what I feel like and how much time I have. And I like that ...I was not to keen on doing the same thing day after day!
So yesterday I didn't have a lot of time and decided to do a Shred L1. I found the CV easy but those one minute strength bits are a killer...used 2kgs for all except the chest Ys and biceps where I used 3 kgs. One minute of side lunges with forward raises on 2kgs was tough!
Have had no time today. Kids are all finally back at school so had a million and one errands to run and now out laws are here for an extended visit and as only DVD player is in lounge I may struggle to fit stuff in!
Food wise I am sort of being careful ish but not dieting as such. I was using MFP but started eating things just to get to my calorie count and not always healthy stuff either so I have kicked it into touch!
I was 8stone 10 when I weighed yesterday so have officially lost 8 lbs. Not sure I want to loose anymore.
Off to open some kettle chips!!!

Happypiglet · 06/07/2012 20:26

PS sorry life is stressful CHST...
I do feel more energetic too. I was starting to feel perimenopausal and suffer really badly from 2 weeks of horrendous PMT (never suffered with this before DD born). This exercise has really helped that. I still suffer but my mood is so much more stable. I think the kids would say I was calmer!

CHST · 06/07/2012 22:08

Thank you happy my mum's partner is in the final stages of his battle with cancer :(. Exercise at the moment gives me that little pocket of time to focus on something else. The stress is playing havoc with my hair and skin though :(
Well done on the weightloss, that is fantastic!

Happypiglet · 07/07/2012 08:14

That sounds really tough CHST you have my sympathies....
I c an really feely shred L1 from two days ago today. I am already starting to feel frustrated about not being able to Jillian for a few days... Even getting up early round here is not easy. DC were up at 6am and there is no way I can get up earlier than that!!!

VirtuousVamp · 07/07/2012 08:24

Oh CHSTSad. I'm so sorry. My mother in law lost her battle with cancer last December. It was so awfulSad. Still miss her like crazy - no idea how DH or FIL are copingSad. Glad you are finding some respite in exercise - it is so good for that. Thinking of you.

I need a kick out of bed this morning - its just 20 mins!! It's just 20 minutes!! .....!

Hope everyone manages to have a good day - weather here is unbelievable!! Surely at some point it has to stop raining!Confused

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/07/2012 09:44

CHST :( We lost my grandpa to cancer, and it is an awful thing to watch. Much sympathy to you all :(

Happypiglet - that is my problem with mornings, one or other of the children are often awake not long after 6 and I refuse to get up at anything starting with a 5!!

Hmm yesterday ended up being a rest day too. We've got a few things to do this morning but I will get DH to take the boys out for a while later so that I can Shred. I guess weekends are where I could fit a longer workout in. I might have a look on amazon and see what is there.

VirtuousVamp · 07/07/2012 10:09

Level 3 shred!! Yay!! Although was following the easy option for quite a lot of it while I worked out what to do!! And I now know what a mountain climber is!!!Confused phew!!! Hard!!Grin

Incaminka · 07/07/2012 13:14

OMG the 30day sgred dvd has just arrived in the post!!!! Luckily my partner is watching F1 at the moment so I don't have to do it yet! Will post when I've done the first one...

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/07/2012 14:40

I have just tried the Yoga Meltdown off YouTube. Bloody hell it was difficult, although I can tell that it was easier than it would have been a fortnight ago!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/07/2012 14:41

VV well done! Is it loads harder than L2?

archfiend · 07/07/2012 17:43

Day 3 of L2 30DS-had a couple of days off due to killer migraine-I hate this weather as it gives me headaches. Still very tough but I am lasting longer on each bit and I think it is starting to work peers at minute definition on upper arm.

CHST - sorry to hear that, it's an awful thing to go through.

VirtuousVamp · 07/07/2012 21:53

Ali - really didn't seem that much harder if you follow the easy option! but I could tell that the jump from 1-2 is far harder than 2-3 as expected!! Think I may switch between them as I was getting bored with level 2!Smile

Well done Archfiend!Smile

missmakesstuff · 08/07/2012 12:15

Glad to hear everyone doing well, so sorry for your news CHST..

I have my parents staying which is a little bit trying...but makes you realise how precious time is with them I guess.

I did run yesterday, did 30mins jogging and walking and it was great, although I ache today, I did see the Osteopath as I have ongoing back problems and he always makes me ache when he pops my back, so it could be that too.

I am having a bit of a rest day today, but will probably try that yoga meltdown this evening. I did buy a bargainous body fat monitor from Poundland yesterday, it's a lloyds pharmacy one, but it told me I have 34% body fat! eek!!

SO I am going to do a detox diet that a lovely mumsnetter sent me, a 1o day one with no alcohol, less carbs and red meat, no sugar etc just to give me a boost, and will continue the shred etc everyday till then, plus pilates and yoga, and a bit of swimming if I can.

Bring it on!

Just a note for those..um .. acquiring Jillian's videos from YouTube - if you use this site www.keepvid.com you can past the link into the top bar and it will download the video for you and you can save it..very handy!

notyummy · 08/07/2012 19:32

Soory to hear what you are deaing with CHST. I hope that the exercise can provide a route to release a but of the stress.

5 mile run yesterday. NMTZ today. Back really bad now. Was planning a rest day tomorrow anyway, so will see how it is on Tuesday morning.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2012 20:06

Rest day for me today, my back is so sore. No idea what I've done, the yoga meltdown did give it a hammering yesterday though.

Planning to shred L2 tomorrow and then think about moving up to L3 later in the week.

febes · 09/07/2012 05:11

NMTZs today. Felt really good probably because I had 3 days off as I was looking after my nephews over the weekend. 5 preschoolers running around makes exercise a bit tricky. I did do lots of bloody cleaning up after them all though!!!

worldgonecrazy · 09/07/2012 08:33

CHST - hope that the inner strength that Jillian talks about in her workouts is helping you get through these tough times.

*

Did BFBM this morning. I'm going to alternate with Shred Level 3 and RI30 Level 4 as I'm concerned there's not enough strength going on and I don't want my arms to revert to their flabby previous existence.

BFBM is so hard, I 'phoned in' the last set of the final round again, though I did manage at least a half-hearted first set of standing mountain climbers.

I seem to have hit a wall with weight and inch loss, no changes for the last two weeks despite exercising more and no increase in food.

Happypiglet · 09/07/2012 13:39

Hi all. Well after an enforced three days off (in laws here.... Need them to go now!) I have managed to fit in a L3 Ripped while they are at the pub. Why do I always forget that it contains both jumping squats and jumping lunges which are horrendous.... And in the second go round of the jumping lunges she goes on and on about inner focus etc etc and keeps on going and going....
Phoned in the down dog push ups as I find gem really hard.
World I haven't done BFBM for a while due to time constraints but it is really hard . The last two circuits are a killer!
Tomorrow looks difficult. Having to go for ANOTHER smear test as the lost my last one!! And I never really feel right afterwards... But need to get back on the wagon had to really force myself today after 3 days off.

Nolda · 09/07/2012 13:52

CHST - sorry to hear about your bad times. Glad Jillian is helping you get through it.

Happy - I did day 9 of Level 3 Ripped today. Hate the jumping lunges and cannot do them that fast at all. Also, if someone had told me that I would be considering plank twists as a moment of respite when I first did Level 2 Shred, I would have laughed. Bad luck on the extra smear test.

I fear that I may be a little obsessed. I had a terrible dream last night in which I was stressing because I had had 5 days off without exercising. Was relieved when I woke up and realised it was only 2!

BigBadBear · 09/07/2012 14:04

Questions for seasoned JMers:

  1. What is "phoning it in"?

  2. What will I do after the 30 Day Shred, because I'm kind of hoping that will be it and I'll miraculously never have to exercise again yet will stay all toned and lovely?

  3. Why does Jillian never look sweaty or out of breath?

These are serious questions, by the way, though I haven't done the 30DS since Thursday (nasty tummy bug) and won't be able to until tomorrow due to horrific amounts of work and a meeting this evening. I watched DH do L2 yesterday and noticed that she says: "I want you to feel like you are going to DIE." If she'd seen my DH, she would have known that she had accomplished her mission!

Happypiglet · 09/07/2012 14:20

Hi bigBadBear

  1. not giving it you all/ doing all the reps..
  2. various other Jillian DVDs out there...Ripped in 30 is a next natural step... You don't have to then do them as a 30 day programme. I try to exercise 5 days a week and swop and change her DVds depending on my time constraints and general 'up for itness'
  3. she does get a little winded in one DVD can't remember which may be circuit 6 of BFBM.... But then she doesn't do all the moves as she stops to instruct well that is what I kid myself with anyway I too feel like I may die or at least vomit in quite a few of her DVDs!!
Nolda · 09/07/2012 14:24

BigBadBear - in my opinion 1) going through the motions without putting in any effort (eg sitting on exercise bike pedalling idly while chatting to your mate on the phone); 2) if you only have 20 minutes then would recommend Ripped in 30. If you have more time NMTZ or BFBM; 3) she doesn't do much does she? Puts in a few reps then stands behind one of her victims making their life hell. (Or she could just be mega fit!) Glad to hear that your DH hasn't been phoning it in. Hope you're better now.

For anyone who doesn't follow Jillian on Facebook (did I mention something about obsession earlier ....) she says the following about what time of day is best to exercise: 'People often ask me when the best time of day to work out is... the answer is all about consistency. Studies show that your body gets accustomed to exercise at a certain time of day and in response releases adrenaline and testosterone at that time. These hormones help your muscles process energy more efficiently leading to increased strength and power - ultimately improving your workout, boosting your calorie burn and amping your metabolism. So the best time of day to train is THE SAME TIME OF DAY. Consistency is key!'

Happypiglet · 09/07/2012 14:30

Nolda did she write that before she had two kids!! Consistency may be key but it also very difficult with family/ work/ friends/ etc pulling you in different directions... Although I guess I could get up at 5 every day......NOT!
Although I may have to follow her on Face book... Blush
