missmake - yes I get that if I try to do it while the boys are around. And plank is viewed as an opportunity to play 'horsies'. Grin but annoying!

missmakesstuff · 05/07/2012 10:25

Well, I did it...YY to sweat on sweat, Dd had woken and was mostly happy to sit on the sofa smearing breakfast on the sofa eating whilst I did it, but at one point did try copying me doing the hands on the floor jumping out move, accompanied by the odd 'oh god'...she isn't tall enough to get on my back for horsey Ali, thank god, think that would have killed me!

Done though!! Although I have no co-ordination, so I just made a mess of the skater and the twisty jump thing.

I really stuggle with my neck aching though, I think I am doing everything right, it hurts when we do abs in pilates too though, the instructor says she can't see me doing anything wrong. Possibly just a generally bad neck, but it is annoying.

Onwards and upwards, have parents staying this weekend, so will have to summon the energy for a jog or swim, as they are using the basement room when I exercise - there isn't anywhere else, there isn't even quite enough room for all the planky exercises in L2..I don't trust the floorboards to do it upstairs, the house is 160 yrs old!

Shutupanddrive · 05/07/2012 11:21

Hello! After a day off and some ibuprofen (strong ones left over from when I broke my ankle!) my knees are more or less recovered. I am going to attempt level 3 30ds later for the first time.
missmakesstuff I get that with my neck too, I find it helps to put my hands behind my head rather than just fingertips to ears when doing the ab work, just make sure your not pulling with your hands though.

I am starting to see results now, my clothes are fitting better! I am bigger on my top half and the work with weights has really made a difference. When I wanted to lose weight in the past I usually did it by running but this is much more effective Smile

gypsyfloss · 05/07/2012 20:54

Yay, go Shutup.

6w6p again this morning with added weight. I am really pleased with the abs I can see coming through and the amount of stuff I am catching up with on iplayer whilst doing it :)

Hope all had a good Jillianing day.

GlassofRose · 05/07/2012 21:29

Managed 6w6p today... roll on the willpower.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 05/07/2012 21:46

Everyone is doing really well! Once again I had to Shred after work as I didn't get up in time again this morning. At least it's done though, so that's day 4 of level 1 complete.

febes · 05/07/2012 22:03

Rest day today as I have my twin nephews staying. They are 2.5 and together with my 3 and 4 year old they are trashing my house!!!!!

Greedygirl · 05/07/2012 22:28

archfiend I found that about 2-3 weeks in I had more defined arms/shoulders and a thinner face Hmm. 3-4 weeks in I finally felt a difference around my waist/tummy and my bum looked "lifted". I regularly feel aggrieved that I am not a size 8 yet after a month or so of shredding Grin but I feel better mentally and more confident in my clothes.

bigbadbear I found the jump from L1 shred to L2 hard too but now L2 is my fave level! In fact I did L2 today and it made me sweat buckets!

I am proud to report that (a) I was so grimly determined to do something today that I did shred at 8.30 tonight in spite of being starving and (b) I have recruited my MIL and SIL to the cause. My MIL now thinks JM is the best thing since sliced bread and is doing the JM "I have just started shred" sideways walk up the stairs!

Greedygirl · 05/07/2012 22:30

gypsyfloss I am going to start 6w6p tomorrow. Time for something new.

missmakesstuff · 05/07/2012 22:33

Good luck febes although doesn't sound like a rest day!

I am not looking forward to getting up at 6 to do L2 again...please berate me if I don't!

Although, on the upside, I weighed in for the first time in a couple of weeks today, have lost 2lbs! which is great. Haven't measured anything though..three weeks from tomorrow till wedding, going to be trying my best to do the shred every day till we go away, so that is 18 days I have do do it - not quite 30 day shred, more like 20...does anyone think it might be too much to try and do stuff in the evenings too? Thinking a swim or two, maybe a 30min jog, I do Pilates (which actually is pretty hard!) once a week and have booked in to do two sessions of anti-gravity yoga (don't laugh!!)

I would worry about going into starvation mode, hanging onto weight rather than losing it - although I am not really restricting what I eat, far too many cakes etc in the staffroom this time of year....

I might be able to fit in a jog or two when we go away for this wedding, we have another wedding two weeks after and I can probably go jogging in the time in between, although officially it is a holiday so not sure how optimistic I am being! Lots of swimming and walking while we are there though, so that will help.

I think I might try to cut out bread and pasta too, has anyone else bee cutting what they eat too?

BigBadBear · 05/07/2012 22:49

Thank you for the support and advice. Reading through, I think I have been making a mistake in doing it barefooted so will wear trainers from now on.

Can't remember who asked about food but I'm not dieting. I love cooking and eating so it would remove a lot of joy from my life if I tried to control it Grin

VirtuousVamp · 05/07/2012 22:52

Well done everyone!! Especially early morning/late nighters!!Grin

I rested my elbow yesterday and did level 2 shred today without any weights concentrating on going as low as I could in my lunges etc. still felt my arms afterwards which was good!

I wouldn't have thought a swim or a jog would be bad if you have the energy but I would make sure you are eating enough to stop the body going into starvation mode Iyswim?

I'm 2 weeks in and I'm not convinced I've seen any different but I think my thighs feel firmer!!Smile. Not really managing on decreasing food intake though as external life is pretty stressful at the moment - but taking comfort that I am keeping to my schedule so far If I ignore yesterday! Grin

Keep up the inspirational work everybody!Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/07/2012 23:31

L2 30DS done Grin I started at 9pm, I am impressed with my determination! Used heavier weights for some of the strength stuff - not the v raises!

Have got really sore tummy muscles now, hope I've not pulled something!

gypsyfloss · 06/07/2012 06:21

Morning all . Huge determination on here at the moment .

greedygirl I hope you get on well with 6w6p ...It took me a while to get into it, at first I thought it wasn't working as well as the Shred. But it does definitely does. The only exercises I find hard are a side lunge / bend that I'm not sure I do right and the final exercise that I sometimes do as a bottom lift only without the leg kick. Oh and the dreaded mountain climbers! My fav includes the spider press up which is a great measure of how much you are improving. Look forward to hearing how it goes!

Ali I reckon sore tummy muscles means you've made them work hard :)

VirtuousVamp · 06/07/2012 07:46

Ali - sore muscles definitely a good sign! After my focus on lower body without weights yesterday I can really feel my thighs all over - side, back and inner!!Grin. Still no weight loss thoughSad really have to stop with all the comfort eating don't I?! JM's brilliant but she's no miracle worker is she?!Hmm

So how did all the early risers get on this morning?? Still so in awe of you being able to jump up and exercise!Confused. Spinning for me today - although may do JM too later as I misses Wednesday.

Have fantastic fabulously fit Fridays everyone!Grin

Greedygirl · 06/07/2012 07:54

Morning everyone! Re the food thing, I haven't particularly been cutting stuff out but I have found myself not eating so much chocolate etc. as I don't want to ruin my hard work. I am beginning to think that a more concerted effort to eat healthy food might give me some better results but that is probably not going to happen!

Just did 6w6p level 1 gypsyfloss and I enjoyed it although I found it hard to keep up with her on the second circuit! I am glad that you said that about not thinking it was so good as shred to begin with, I didn't finish up so red and sweaty but I think I will really benefit strength wise and I am running now for some cardio so hopefully by mid August I will be ripped Hmm. I hate those flipping mountain climbers. Can you do the advanced spider plank then?! she is def more shouty in this DVD so she is getting muted next time!

alibaba hope it is a good hurt!

virtuous well done on the late night workout and for sticking with it.

missmakesstuff hope you made it or be prepared to be berated! As if Grin.

gypsyfloss · 06/07/2012 08:22

Hi greedygirl, yes def not so sweaty but I think that allows you to really focus on your abs . I found that in the shred sometimes I was so knackered ( esp. when I upped the weights ) that the abs works was something to just get done without much thought to what I was doing. With this you can go a bit slower than her and really concentrate on what you're doing....like in the plank walk out I might do one less than her but really hold my abs in whilst going down and back again. does that make sense?
Yes I can now do 12 or 13 advanced spiders at a time but when I started it was mostly just elbow to knee with the odd one or two. I felt flat on my face showing this move off to my gym bunny friend in the beginning Grin
I have lost 2 inches of my hips since 3rd June and I reckon the past week of 6w6p has contributed greatly to that. I also like the fact that it's a little bit longer so you're getting more workout but because it's only 2 circuits you don't notice it so much :)

worldgonecrazy · 06/07/2012 08:24

Morning everyone - I am toooooo knackered to go through the posts and get names, but well done to everyone for perservering and being inspirational.

I had to get up at 5.00 a.m. this morning as my new BFBM DVD arrived last night and instead of the morning off I'd promised myself, I decided to kick myself out of bed and get on with it. I managed the first 4 sessions okay with just a few second breaks but I really phoned the last two sessions in. Standing mountain climbers are a killer, and after that bit I didn't have much energy for the final 6 minute session but I did my best.

I now feel exhausted, I'm sat in the office barely able to keep my eyes open but somehow I feel great at the same time. I'll be glad when I can go the whole way through without a break.

happy Jillianing everyone.

notyummy · 06/07/2012 10:02

Grrr! Wanted to run today, but can only go between 10 and 11 and it is POURING down. What Jillian to do instead? Have done NMTZ yesterday and the day before (5 circuits each time, not quite full thing) so I guess I need something more cardio based. Hmm.

Such great work on here.

World - I find BFBM quite changeable in how hard it is. Circuit 1 pretty easy I think, and one of the other ones (can't quite remember - think it is one of the 'kick boxing' ones.) BUT - there are 2 circuits that really tough. The one with the standing mountain climbers and perhaps the one with 180 squat jumps?

Gypsey - kudos to you on the spider planks! I think I can manage the first lot on the advanced version, but I am not sure I have ever made all the second ones as well.

Greedy - re food, I mostly eat what I want, however, after some time low carbing a while ago, I have adjusted my diet around carbs which seems to help. By that I mean I avoid most breakfast cereals/bread/potatoes and only have v small portions of wholemeal pasta/rice. I am by no means v strict with food as I have cake everyday! I think the key is identifying what you can't live without (i.e what makes you feel miserable/deprived if you cut it out completely...cake for me) and keep that. Then cut down on the others - I don't mind having soup without bread, and a salad instead of a sandwich, and mesuring out 50g of pasta etc, but I would feel fed up without a bit of cake to eat!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/07/2012 10:33

I feel fine this morning :) This really is working, I can see my shape starting to change and I feel so much better Grin

Have a good day everyone!

threestepsforward · 06/07/2012 12:06

Hello all Smile

From a quick read through, it's been sooo busy on here, it seems to be the start of changes/improvements, fantastic news! It really gives you that extra boost once you start seeing how hard you are working is paying off, serious congratulations and yay to all Smile

And for anyone miffed that it's not happening for you, it really will! One day you'll suddenly see it, or measure it, and off you go, cooking on gas!

Notyummy sorry your run has been thwarted again. This constant rain is making me feel quite ANGRY now Grin

Worldgone I hear you re BFBM. It is a corker of a cardio DVD but my god it can be hard sometimes. Some days I get through it feeling quite strong (but still sweaty) and other days I'm certain I can't get all the way through, but manage to...somehow!

Did a Killer L3 yesterday and today, yes, BFBM again! Want a 'pack a punch' workout today as I'm away this evening for the weekend and food will be a big feature.

Hope everyone has a non rainy fab weekend, catch up with you all either Sunday or Monday...

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/07/2012 13:24

Can I just ask those of you who have been doing this a while - is this how you feel most of the time? Relaxed, loads of energy, really alert? It is a revelation to me.

threestepsforward · 06/07/2012 13:39

Ali, no Grin

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 06/07/2012 13:42

That was a joke... ish!

I've just finished BFBM so not feeling so full of energy lol. But, yes, I think generally I have felt more full of beans generally. Although for me I think a lot of that is also to do with kicking the booze pretty much from November.

I totally think that regular exercise gives you much more energy though in day-to-day life and to tackle the big stuff... Great you're feeling so chipper and loving it, yay to JM and all who sail with her Smile

Have a good weekend!

I envy the willpower of all of you that manage to do a JM dvd in the early hours of morning or evening!

just finished day 2 of 6w6p...
