VVamp-thank you! Am beginning to feel achy already, this doesn't bode well for tomorrow...

threestepsforward · 03/07/2012 20:45

Evening all, decided on a rest day today but still like to read and check in as it keep me going!

Welcome softkitty and archfiend! Happy Shredding Smile Work through the aches if you can archfiend, you know it makes sense Grin

Shutup and Virtuous, hmm, it's so difficult to know what the best advice is... My thoughts would be if you can identify that it's definitely a pain, rather than an ache from using the muscles, I'd tend to rest up. Shutup your knees in particular sound painful, if you didn't want to stop, could you maybe modify some of the strength / cardio bits to help? JM is pretty hardcore on the poor old knees Sad

Trying to think what size I started and finished at, but I don't weigh myself, never measured and tend to like non-fitted clothes Grin. I'm now between 8-small side of 10 and probably started on the large end of 10. Not a huge difference but I continue to eat like a piglet haven't dieted and there's still been a definite improvement in my shape.

See you tomorrow guys!

Hey everyone,
Did NMTZ for the first time and I hurt all over but I feel empowered (cheesy face)

notyummy · 03/07/2012 20:49

Ooh yes Ali - good wardrobe advice on there and I have converted many of them to shredding . Really nice ladies, and contrary to what some might think, lots of budgets/sizes represented.

notyummy · 03/07/2012 20:50

Well done Blue!

archfiend · 03/07/2012 20:59

I keep telling myself it's a good ache creak, groan ...

gypsyfloss · 03/07/2012 21:42

ThreestepsI have dropped a dress size but I've only seen 1lb down on the scales and an inch or so on measurements .I only started measuring exactly a month ago; having Jillianed on and off since Dec .I too have eaten whatever I want.

Virtuous not sure about your elbows; I wonder if it will improve as you get stronger? I know that my shoulder nerve pain has got much better as my upper body has strengthened. As for your thigh, that sounds normal. It's amazing how unsymmetrical we are once we start looking!

Shutup are you wearing decent trainers when shredding? A few people mentioned not wearing any recently. I think it's important to support your feet/ankles/knees properly.

6w6p done tonight, with 3kg weight for the squat type things ( forget the names!) and tomorrow I'll add 2kg in to the diagonal get-ups too. Good wrok to all the new shredders.

gypsyfloss · 03/07/2012 21:43

*or even good work! I did preview, honestly :)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/07/2012 23:18

I haven't been wearing trainers, just bare feet on carpet. Do I need to do you think?

I'm very encouraged by this talk of decreases in measurements without having to really diet.
I am 'watching what I eat', I'm on the Paul McKenna thread and also the EMTWL (Eat More to Weigh Less), but I'm not into starvation rations!

missmakesstuff · 03/07/2012 23:19

Can I join in? I am marking my place - have been doing shred L1 since forever cause never get past 10 days last week and have been unsuccessful at doing it in the evenings so have been making myself get up at 6am to do it...is knackering, but seems to be going well, I am thinking 3 more days of L1 before moving onto L2 and 3 for 7 days each cause some things I am finding easy although still shattered at the end.

Only thing is we have a wedding to go to in just over three weeks, then two weeks of camping and another wedding - I also will have family to stay who will take up the only space I have to exercise, so I think I am going to have to go out jogging for the days I can't shred.

I have to look good for this wedding, there will be an old crush of mine there, years back and don't care a jot about him, but still, would like to look good - also my aim was to weigh the same as when I got married (9st 7) by our 5th wedding anniversary, which is in 6 weeks...I currently weigh around 10st 4 and am 5'3", waist is 34in, hips 38" and bust 41"...I hope I can post in a few weeks with a difference to all that!

My willpower is awful, I need to just get into the routine of doing it, but with working full time and a 2yr old there is always something....I am hoping oversharing posting my measurements will make me feel ashamed enough to do something about it!!

GlassofRose · 03/07/2012 23:21

Y'know what I love these dvds... they might actually work for me if I had Jillian to kick my arse into putting them on

Greedygirl · 03/07/2012 23:24

Evening all. Have spent the evening marking so treating myself to a quick catch up before bed! I am another one with creaky knees at the moment but I a did confess to not wearing trainers until recently and I have started running again in the past week so i think they are just bedding in! Re the elbows - I haven't found that at all, maybe try lighter weights and see how you go?

Everyone has amazing inch and dress size loss Envy. In spite of spying a muscle lurking in my tummy last week and slightly loser trousers, I still have exactly the same measurements! Although I didn't do measurements for the first couple of weeks. So i have given up on all that. I have been a size 12 forever but I was getting bigger and wanted my clothes to feel nice again. And I am really enjoying it. I am pretty stressed at work tonight and the first thing I said to my DH was that I wanted to go for a run when I got home. Unheard of. I have the bug Smile. Just did a quick 2 mile circuit after BFBM last night. Running club tomorrow and then back to L3 shred Thurs/Fri. Away at the weekend but might do a swim Sat morning to try and counteract the gallons of vodka and tonic I intend on drinking Grin!

Sorry for a completely unpersonalised post but I am tired and heading for bed. Welcome to the new posters and happy shredding! Glad some of you found the motivation to do your workout when you didn't feel like it. I love getting it over with first thing if at all possible. I will think of you at 5.55 a.m. Softkitty!

febes · 04/07/2012 05:35

Level 2 Ripped for me today. The plank cardio is a killer!! I quite like most the moves though-the strength is good.

gypsyfloss · 04/07/2012 06:08

Ali I can't imagine not wearing trainers tbh as I had knee surgery a few years ago & am very aware that they not only cushion the impact but also my feet in the correct alignment to prevent further damage.

gypsyfloss · 04/07/2012 06:09

Greedygirl you definitely have made a good new habit there :)

Shutupanddrive · 04/07/2012 07:16

Hi again threestepsforward and gypsyfloss. Thanks for your replies. I am wearing trainers that I used to go running in so I don't think it's that. I'm going to have a couple of days off I think as they are still sore this morning. It's the plank jumps and jacks that have done it, so I will leave those out when I get back into it. This thread is great for staying inspired, well done everyone Smile

gypsyfloss · 04/07/2012 07:52

It may just be that you have overtrained one of the muscles that hold the knee in place and a few days rest will be enough to settle it down. enjoy your break :)

worldgonecrazy · 04/07/2012 08:01

missmakesstuff I also work full time and have a 2.5 year old. I just decided that the only time I could find in the day is in the morning, so I get up an hour before everyone else, do my JM and then have a nice time in the shower/bathroom getting ready with some 'me time' whilst DD and DH snooze in bed. It took a while to get used to it, but then I began to enjoy having that hour for myself in the morning. I get up at 5.15 a.m. in the week as we have to be out of the house for 6.30 a.m. That might look horribly early on paper, but it doesn't feel bad once you're actually doing it.

So no excuses - get jillianing and you will look fab for your wedding anniversary. I find if I have a goal-date to work towards it helps motivate me, so it might be a date night with my husband (we have two a year), a holiday, a night out with friends, a works event, etc.

Well done to everyone for keeping going. I did Level 4 RI30 again this morning, struggling with burpees and the final sit ups as my lower back flexibility has completely disappeared.

notyummy · 04/07/2012 08:21

I think quite a few of us on here work and have very little spare time. In a slightly odd way, I think this motivates me more as i want to make the best possible use of what little time I have, and not feel that i am taking ages doing this whilst house/DD/work are being neglected. I think that is why I have used JM a LOT over the past 2/3 years, as she is very much focussing on the time pressured market. If you listen to a lot of the things she says, it is about making the best use of a short time slot! I like to plan my exercise at the beginning of each week and mentally 'diarise' when I am going to do it. I do a mixture of early mornings, during the day at weekends, and early evenings. DH is v supportive and 'Jillians' with me at weekends (with DD joining in occasionally) and if he can back in time he will do the stuff around the house in the early evening so I can fit stuff in then. He tends to use the gym at work in the early mornings during the week, but I don't have any facilities like that.

VenetiaLanyon · 04/07/2012 09:28

Hi all,
Glad to see everyone is keeping hard at it...

I've restarted Shred post a month off with injuries, doing 5 days per level, and have just done day 3 of Level 3; feel like I'm pretty much back in the saddle, with no back twinges (FX) Smile

Ali, I initially did barefoot, which horrified my physio, who had me back in trainers.

Miss, I'm another full-time worker, with a 4 year old, and I do the same as World, and get up at 6 each morning to have shredded and showered before getting DD up. She has put up with this since she was 3, and if she wakes up early she just watches me or has breakfast.

Well done for getting the bug, GreedyGirl; I think it's probably incurable Grin

LurkingAndLearningForNow · 04/07/2012 09:31

Marking my place!

Been sick today but tomorrow I am starting Shred (again lol)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/07/2012 09:40

Oh right I'd better dig out my trainers then!

I don't get on with early mornings, because my youngest wakes up anything from 6-7.30 and wants a feed. So I Shred once DH is home from work, he takes the boys up for a bath and that is my slot.

I feel really tired this morning, like I could go to bed and sleep for 24 hours!

Happypiglet · 04/07/2012 09:48

Hi all and well done on all the activity. I am in awe of you full timers with kids who fit it in.. Amazing.
Well I had one child free day and now DD has, as I suspected, contracted the bug and so is currently in bed asleep. It has allowed me to Jillian tho! She is a much more obliging patient than the boys!
I am still suffering from my bout of the lurgy....( And may I just say a big thank you to DS2 for 'finding' this bug somewhere and allowing us all to get it in such a protracted relay race.... ) so took it a bit easy with Killer L1.
I still really like it though as you can really feel your bum (my main problem area) working. As the moves are a bit simpler (altho squat to warrior is not that simple!) i can really concentrate on form which I think means it works my muscles harder IYSWIM. And currently I am in love with my sleeker thighs....
Guess DD will be off for rest of week and my out laws arrive Friday afternoon so tomorrow may be my last opportunity.
I just cannot do 5.55am...I did that a while back when all DC where at home with me to do Davina and it nearly killed me!
Wow that was a long one....can you tell I am bored stupid stuck in day after day!! Grin

cluelessnchaos · 04/07/2012 09:57

Can I join? I've being doing shred L1 for a week now and living it, dc4 gets me up at 6am so we do it after his morning feed. Been using 2kg weights and I'm finding the cardio pretty easy so far. Have been finding the push ups hard. Today was the first day I did more Natalie than Anita. I havent lost any weight but I think I'm shaping up.

Happypiglet · 04/07/2012 10:12

Hiya Clueless and welcome. Glad you are enjoying the Shred and respect at 2kgs already and finding CV OK. When i started I nearly died doing jumping jacks and still find them hard they are my nemisis !
Push ups are hard. I could only do modified to start with 7months ago but now can usually manage most of them in proper position so it can take time!
