Posted too soon.

Got on the scales this morning and I am another pound down!

Yesterday was not a cheat, but a planned deviation from the grand plan.

I can't believe how well this seems to be working this time. I have 'only' lost 22lbs, but feel and I think look like I have lost loads more.

It was freezing yesterday and I was able to wear my smart navy blazer, buttoned up, UNDER my rain jacket, which I could zip up. Before I started this my rain jacket would only zip up if I wore a thin top and breathed in.

Jacaqueen · 09/06/2012 08:25

Since starting this I have become more aware of just how much I use food to treat, console or deal with tricky situations. Not just for myself, but the rest of the family too. Definately something I want to stop doing, but at least I am aware of it now.

I am also trying really hard not to use alcohol in this way. It is very stressful here at the moment with both my FIL and Mum in hospital. I have had some alcohol in the past few weeks, but nothing like my usual amount.

I have been following this for nearly 8 weeks now. I dont want to get too cocky, but I really think that this time there will be no going back for me.
Last week I was given some great advice on here about not being able to control anything else that was going on, but at least I could control my food intake and my weight. That has become my mantra and has helped me so much.

As every week goes by it gets easier to do this. I feel able to say no thankyou to unsuitable food without feeling guilt or embarrassement.

BIWItheBold · 09/06/2012 08:29

Mme - beansprouts are pretty low carb - 2.5g carb per 100g - so you will be fine!

I, too, am surprised about the cabbage - this is the carb count from the Carblife website:

Cabbage, boiled
2.5
Cabbage, white, raw
5

Where did you get your carb count from, TinTin?

We had a cricket club dinner last night, which from a food point of view I was dreading - the food (whilst lovely and home-made) is usually all served plated up, with no choice, and pretty difficult to avoid carbs. But as we had a special guest last night (Sir Garfield Sobers, no less), they had really gone to town with the food, and it was served as a buffet - and there was cheese as well as dessert, so I was able to eat really well and keep it low carb, thankfully.

WillieWaggledagger · 09/06/2012 09:20

I have just had the most luxurious breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with spinach wilted in butter. Not as a treat but because it's filling and tasty. And it will keep me going until supper time I reckon

TinTinsSexySister · 09/06/2012 09:48

I was just using the Bootcamp Rules list for carb counts BIWI, at least cooked cabbage is a lot lower, which is something.

Am on a Hen Weekend, cooked b'fast was good and we've had to pre-choose dinner for this evening, so that'll be OK too but worried about all the booze.

Hope things are getting better for you and your family Jac. It was me that said the thing about having control, so glad it was useful

WillieWaggledagger · 09/06/2012 10:10

Ooh on saturday kitchen they are doing haddock monte Carlo which looks low carb friendly

MorrisZapp · 09/06/2012 10:44

Hiya, room for a little one? (Who wants to be littler :) )

SharonGless · 09/06/2012 11:10

Hey Morris - you found us!! Welcome and ask any questions you have. There is a spreadsheet going do that you can track your weight loss

slowlyburningcalories · 09/06/2012 11:21

It sounds wrong to ask someone to beat me with a big stick but BIWI I think I might have to be chased away from the freezer cabinets which have been my downfall this week!

I don't think therefore that the scales have shifted, but I look slimmer and feel tonnes better, I suspect a lot of that is probably the fact I am trying to up my water and I have cut down on processed food so eating just pure protein and vegetables.

NigellasGuest · 09/06/2012 11:40

jacaqueen well done, that's how I have been coping to a large extent, too.

I am currently in PMT phase I think - irregular periods mean I've no idea when it will actually come, but it is due. I seem NOT to be having the usual cravings this time (touch wood). I'm still using will power to a certain extent but it's a lot easier. It's either because of this WOE or the extra iron, magnesium, B6 and evening primrose concoction I've been taking... or probably a bit of both.

smokinaces · 09/06/2012 11:53

Wow, 28 stone between us all. So impressive.

This is a woe for me now. No going back.

Last night was at a wedding and you should have seen the sweets and cakes and puddings. Old me would have been in heaven and gorged all night. New me nibbled on a couple of olives, cheese and a small handful of peanuts.

And I know I feel better this morning for it.

Oh and I wore a dress I last wore in 2003. And it was loose on me last night compared to nine years ago :-)

BIWItheBold · 09/06/2012 11:57

Brilliant! Grin

NigellasGuest · 09/06/2012 12:26

Hello Morris Smile

MorrisZapp · 09/06/2012 13:44

Woah, hold the phone!

Just looked at BIWIs 'allowed veg' list. Turnips, carrots and leeks are on there. Does this mean I can have 'potato and leek' soup (without the potato) made with that, and be low carb?

MorrisZapp · 09/06/2012 13:48

Oats. Oatcakes. Porridge.

Is that all high carb?

SilkieChicken · 09/06/2012 13:54

Ok so... how do I sign up? I have lc for years... weight in last few months has crept up, but it's hard doing it on your own Sad

smokinaces · 09/06/2012 14:38

Just made my lovely shepherds pie from last week on a bigger scale to freeze portions. Courgette, tomato, shallots, garlic, mushrooms, minced beef and vegetable stock with a celeriac and butter mash topping, with mature cheese grated on top. Tis in the oven baking off. Tis bloody lovely. May have to watch my portion size with this!!!!

SingingTunelessly · 09/06/2012 14:45

Morris no oats in Bootcamp! Be careful how many carrots you put in the soup as they are carby.

Silkie, no need to be Sad you've just joined up! BIWI's really helpful do's and dont's are listed at the start of the thread.

mummyduff · 09/06/2012 14:58

Hi all back from a week away only to find my eldest 20year old DD, who was left at home due to work commitments, has trashed our houseAngry

Holiday was good and bar some alcohol I stuck to this WOE the whole week and found it fine.

BIWI - hope you had a nice break too x

MNP · 09/06/2012 15:16

DH made a 'killing' in the reduced section at Tesco last night, Aberdeen Angus beef burgers, 1.2g carbs per burger, 95% meat, 4 pack for..........49p Shock he bought 14 packs then individually wrapped and froze them, another guy bought over 30 packs!!

MNP · 09/06/2012 15:17

Oh no :( MummyDuff hope you make her tidy up.

vnmum · 09/06/2012 15:26

wow MNP what a bargain. Our reduced section is never that good. I have found the better bargains are to be had at night though. Just need to do some detective work to find out what time at night they actually reduce the prices really low. Makes this woe much more affordable.

smokin that is great about your dress, you must feel fab. With regards to the puddings, was it that you didn't want to ruin your weight loss or that you just didn't fancy them anymore?

mummyduff glad you had a good holiday but Angry on your behalf to have to come home to a trashed house. Are you going to make her pay for the damages?

WillieWaggledagger · 09/06/2012 16:38

There are some good post-bank holiday bargains at the moment - I got loads of smoked salmon and duck breasts half price

BIWItheBold · 09/06/2012 16:47

Shock mummyduff! How awful. You would hope that by the time they get to 20 they're past all that. What happened? What is her 'excuse'?

mummyduff · 09/06/2012 18:17

I have just spoken to DD who is not sure what the fuss is all about!!! Im sure she will after she has paid towards all the food that was ruined when the freezer was left open!
It appears she had friends round last night and partied at home with drink, music etc till they went out, so there was alcohol everywhere, smashed glasses, sick all over the downstairs toilet, food etc all over her bedroom. Glasses and empty bottles in garden!

I am beyond cross and yes BIWI I really thought I could trust her, normally a sensible girl.
I have had to sort it all out as we have my mum sitting with the younger 2 ds's tonight whilst we attend a party organised by one of my husbands clients.

Thanks for support. x
