As a forever lurker I thought this might be the place to post...

Last night I caught sight of myself naked and it was awful...really, really awful. I look like I've just given birth and my baby is actually almost 5.

I lost loads of weight after having him (and splitting up from h) but I've piled it back on recently. I need to lose 3 stone ish! oh god!

I don't want to be fat, I don't want to be miserable, I don't want to hate how I look.

So I've ordered some scales and I've made my mind up....this is it!!!

I eat healthily (generally) because of DS but when DS is with his Dad I comfort eat/drink and the weeks good efforts go to pot.

If anyone has any advice or fancies joining me, I'd really appreciate it.

I will join you :) my DS is 9 months old now. Had a lot of stress since xmas and lost loads but now all thats kinda resolved ive been eating more and put most of it back on :( I comfort eat too. Its my downfall.

How do you plan to lose the weight? Im tempted to cut or reduce my carb intake. I eat way too much bread

chirpchirp · 07/05/2012 13:53

Hi
Another lurker and comfort eater who would like to join you.

Not one for diets myself, I tend to pile it back on as soon as I start eating "normally" again. Have been using MFP for the last couple of weeks and have dropped almost half a stone so will be continuing with that! Eating more protein and less carbs but not being too strict seems to be working.

Would like to lose about 5 stone to get me somewhere close to actually liking my body.

Tomorrow is the day for me, tonight I am finishing wine and nibbles. I had time on my own today so did a fitness dvd just to sound out how out of shape I am. I then measured the point across my midriff and across my belly button BlushBlushBlush. I am very Sad.

MelodyPondering · 07/05/2012 18:08

I'll join you all! Just about to put kids to bed but will pop back later Smile

MelodyPondering · 07/05/2012 18:56

Very jealous of the wine and nibbles...

Right, I started properly yesterday after being stupidly half hearted about it since Jan. I've lost 10lbs since January but I really want to lose another 2.5stone over the next 13 weeks as I am finally, after 8 years, going on my honeymoon, I so want to feel comfortable and happy in myself.

So I'm now 12st 11lbs and I would like to be 10st 3lbs as that is what I got down to last time.

To be honest though, 10st anything would be fantastic!

I'm doing the old ww as I don't get on with pro points and my weigh in is a Friday as then I can drink wine on Friday night without too much guilt Wink

I did my Davina dvd yesterday, and have been pretty achey today, tomorrow is either swimming in the morning or another dvd once the kids are in bed.

I have to do this, I need to look fabulous in these holiday pictures!

Blimey, me me me!!

Mfp is my fitness pal...how are you all planning to do it? I'm trying to low car as well as staying in my points...Friday will let me know if its working!

chirpchirp · 07/05/2012 20:34

Lucewheel MFP = Myfitnesspal.com. You can use their website or they is an app available too. It's like keeping a food/exercise diary but it tells you how many calories you should be eating a day to achieve the weight loss you want as well as having all the information on something like 200,000 foods listed on there so it's more effective then simply keeping a paper diary and looking up calorie information constantly!

Weighed myself on the way home and another 4lbs off so moving in the right direction. :D

IWantSummer · 08/05/2012 09:13

Can I join?
I need to lose weight.
About 10kgs
Have been kidding myself the past 18mths .
Those jeans I bought last summer to get me through (used to wear a belt) we they are way to snug.
I have a wardrobe full of lovely clothes I would like to wear.
Off to the gym now for a jog.
Food wise-read on weekend that good old fashioned eat less fat and exercise more works so might try that, I need to be sensible but also flexible.

I've tried and failed -dukan, Atkins, ww. Such a typical yoyo dieter-grrrrrrrrAngryAngryAngry

FrozenChocolate · 08/05/2012 09:21

Oooh can I also join? Last time I checked I was over 14 stone. I am wearing size 18 clothes and tbh that is Not Good.

What do I do? Just eat less I suppose.

MelodyPondering · 08/05/2012 10:19

Frozenchocolate, have you considered ww? I'm doing the old one but the new one is good too, you can go to your first meeting, get the stuff and then wright yourself weekly!

Or my fitness pal is good if you have a phone you can download it onto? Keeping track is the most important thing I think.

I'm so achey today but must force myself to do another dvd tonight, god knows how I will feel tomorrow...

MelodyPondering · 08/05/2012 10:19

Weigh not wright! Bloody phone...

MelodyPondering · 08/05/2012 10:21

Well done chirpchirp! How much ha e you lost so far?

Iwantsummer you could join me for ww? I'm about the same size and have lovely size 12 clothes I am desperate to get into to.

chirpchirp · 08/05/2012 10:45

Thanks Melody! 7lbs in just over two weeks. I suppose as I have so much to lose it will come off faster at the beginning.

Are the Davina DVD's any good? I have the 30 Day Shred which I do do occasionally but just can't get past workout one as in workout two there is far too much plank position and I just end up lying crying on the floor in a heap.

Really finding MFP to be the key this time. I think in the past I was kidding myself about how much, and what I was actually eating. I'm making sure I log EVERYTHING and it's stopped me finishing off DS's left overs as I have no way of logging it. I also tell myself "This needs to go in the bin. I am NOT a bin!" I think it might be my new mantra!

Frozen Chocolate Give MFP a shot. You aren't restricted about what you eat but sometimes it is an eye opener as to the calorie content things and it can help you make better choices which I suppose in the long run is what it's all about.

chirpchirp · 08/05/2012 10:47

Flabby How are things going?

MelodyPondering · 08/05/2012 11:47

That's brilliant weight loss! I'm hoping for a good one over the next two weeks, as I've gone from being completely inactive and greedy to lots of exercise water and much less food.

The Davina dvds are brilliant, I would highly recommend them. They're very doable but sure can feel it the next day...

slotrightin · 08/05/2012 12:20

Ok if I join you? Am really, really bad at dieting, am going to start my diet tomorrow, weighing in tonight so can post my weight tomorrow.

MelodyPondering · 08/05/2012 20:09

Hi slotrightin Smile

Did davina dvd this evening, nearly killed me, I'm so unfit Sad

Today I've eaten:

2 x toast and marmite
Spicy rice
Banana
2 x Bacon, 2 x eggs and mushrooms and tomatoes.

Please let this work, I need a good loss on Friday or I will lose all my motivation and I just can't go on this holiday looking like this!

How are you all getting on?

chirpchirp · 08/05/2012 20:50

Hi Slotrightin

Hey MelodyPondering
That sounds pretty good to me. I know what you mean about needing to see some reward to spur you on. I'm sure you'll get some reward :)

How are you having your bacon and eggs? Haven't tried baking things like this myself but have heard it's a good alternative to frying.

Just back from a 3 mile walk that me and my neighbour have as a standard date on a Tuesday night.

This is what I have eaten today and is pretty much what I have most days but swapping kind of soups and chicken and fish etc:

2 x scrambled eggs, pint of water.
banana and more water.
tomato soup with one slice of brown bread, apple and diet coke and a glass of water.
Salmon salad and yep, more water.

MelodyPondering · 09/05/2012 08:50

Thanks chirpchirp Smile

Fingers crossed! Weigh day on Friday so I'm doing my best to be very good until then when I will allow myself some wine! I'm hoping to lose 5lbs as its my first week and I want to Wink

I grill the bacon, and scramble the eggs. Cooking the mushrooms with tomatoes means you don't need oil and the juice from the toms does the job!

Yours looks fab, hardly any carbs! When is your weigh day?

No exercise today I can lately walk....planning on a swim tomorrow morning and a possible run after work.

I will be thin!

Hope you're all getting on ok?

MelodyPondering · 09/05/2012 08:51

Hardly walk I mean, again bloody phone!

chirpchirp · 09/05/2012 10:40

Thanks melody, weigh in day is tomorrow and hoping for another 2lbs.

Might take the wee man swimming today although that doesn't actually equate to much exercise, just a lot of splashing about but at least it takes my mind off food! Will maybe manage a shred this evening.

How is everyone else getting on?

slotrightin · 09/05/2012 10:57

Was late up this morning which meant brekkie was shop bought en route to work, i.e. sausages and hash browns ... disaster:( Sorely tempted to say ah flip it I will start tomorrow but not this time.
Weighed this morning on home scales and weighed in at 12st 9lb!

lemonsherbet · 09/05/2012 11:22

Can I also join, signed up to the Tesco diets yesterday and then went out for pie and chips so yesterday was a disaster. So far today had my breakfast cereal, 1 orange and 1 banana. Starting to feel hungry but am trying to motivate myself not to eat a nice packet of crisps.

slotrightin · 09/05/2012 11:28

Hi Lemon, throw the crisps away because if you are anything like me, one bag won't be enough Grin

MelodyPondering · 09/05/2012 11:30

Don't worry slotrightin, as long as you're good for the rest of the day then it won't matter! The first week is definitely the hardest.

Hi lemonshetbert step away from the crisps!! Wink

How old is your Ds chirpchirp? My youngest is 3 and address swimming.

I tell you what, posting here is really helping me. Which is probably any you can't shut me up...
