As a forever lurker I thought this might be the place to post...

Last night I caught sight of myself naked and it was awful...really, really awful. I look like I've just given birth and my baby is actually almost 5.

I lost loads of weight after having him (and splitting up from h) but I've piled it back on recently. I need to lose 3 stone ish! oh god!

I don't want to be fat, I don't want to be miserable, I don't want to hate how I look.

So I've ordered some scales and I've made my mind up....this is it!!!

I eat healthily (generally) because of DS but when DS is with his Dad I comfort eat/drink and the weeks good efforts go to pot.

If anyone has any advice or fancies joining me, I'd really appreciate it.

MelodyPondering · 11/05/2012 20:41

Ooh forgot to ask, how many point are you having per day? I'm allowed 22 buy I try to have no more than 18 to save for the wine Wink

jetsetlil · 11/05/2012 20:58

I am having 23 points per day. But I aim to do some kind of exercise every day to earn bonus points. Going to Aldi tomorrow to stock up on cheap veg and fruit and make a big pan of soup to freeze.

Fairyloo · 12/05/2012 10:01

What you lot had for breakfast

Scrambled egg for me

happyhappymummy · 12/05/2012 11:06

Morning ladies.
Wow fairy does sound hardcore!
Dry white oh me too. I did have a little look but they didnt sell it in my local, or waitrose. I will have a look in tesco on my next shop :)

MusicalYouth · 12/05/2012 19:23

I've done OK but not great today.

Bit naughty having couple of biscuits and also pasta for lunch but also played 2 sets of tennis, so did some decent exercise.

Going to buy some scales tomorrow (gulp) and go healthy food shopping.

What are your best low cal snacks?

Fairyloo · 12/05/2012 19:52

Hey

Just made a huge lentil soup and decanted into 100 cal portions, very filling.

Fav low cal snacks are slices of meat, cheese, almonds, fab Ice lolly.

The problem with junk is I can't stop I want to carry on munching!!!

I've done a kind of low carb ww today (my own design!!) stuck to points.

Just sitting down for BGT and feel the munches, what is it about kids being in bed that makes you want to munch!!!

MelodyPondering · 13/05/2012 08:27

Hi all Smile

Well after my Friday night wine, I now have 17.5 points to make up this week Sad

After all my hard work last week I'm thinking I might need to really try and cut out the wine if I'm going to lose what I need to by august 6th.

I feel all bloated and unhealthy again today and I know its the wine. I tend to only drink once a week but I reckon I had about 1.5 bottles. This is not good! I Googled and drinking really slows down fat burning so I need to try and give it up, am hoping you can all help me when I'm struggling!

So this week, I plan to exercise every day Mon to Fri, either a dvd, a run or a swim. And no alcohol on Friday...

I'm crap with snacks musicalyouth I always reach for toast, going to have to try and stop that too.

The lady in my office who is exercise obsessed and v v slim is on holiday for the next two weeks so my plan is for her to come back and be shocked by my huge weight loss Wink

Hope you're all getting on better than drunk old me!

happyhappymummy · 13/05/2012 08:43

Morning ladies :)
Musical.. My favourite low cal snacks are snacka jacks or muller yoghurt as I have a sweet tooth but if not sweet I pick at pickled onions or beetroot. Well done on the exercise :)
Fairy.. Your soup sounds yummy :)
Melody.. Aww dont beat yourself up. We all have to have a treat as we put in so much hard work. Do your exercise like you said and get back on track this week. You will be fine :)
If you really want to give up wine then maybe start by having a bottle every other weekend but personally I think you deserve a treat and if you enjoy a bottle of wine on a friday eve and you count it in with your points, theres no harm? If not then of course we will help ;)

dietstartstmoz · 13/05/2012 09:00

Can i join too? As my name suggests i have been a yo-yo dieter for a while now. Have failed at ww and slimming world. I will be 40 this summer and i have 3-4 stone to lose. I will download mfp today to my phone and try and track calories. My downfall is constantly snacking and having a sweet tooth. Ds2 has ASD and i have definately been comfort eating for the past 2 yrs as life has been hard. But i need to be healthy to look after DS2 for as long as possible. It would be nice to have some weight loss by the time i reach 40. I find it hard to find time to exercise so will have to think how to fit this in.

happyhappymummy · 13/05/2012 09:15

Hi diet :)
Yes Im a bit of a comfort eater too! Im trying to replace the snacks for healthy ones.
Yes it is hard to find the time. Maybe to start with pick one day/evening a week and make it your day/evening to do something you enjoy. Could you squeeze an hour in? I know its difficult but it will make you feel better and help with the weight loss. A walk/swim?
You WILL be looking fab at forty :)

MelodyPondering · 13/05/2012 09:17

Ah thanks happy I think we deserve treats too but I just think its really slowing down my weight loss, you can all give me a slap if I drink Wink

Also I have to stop weighing daily, its really not helping to motivate me, its just pissing me off!

Hi dietstarts, welcome! Do you have a partner? Is there any way you can exercise in the evening? Good luck!

dietstartstmoz · 13/05/2012 10:51

Thanks. Yes i could do some serious exercise on a monday as this is my day off work and the kids are at school. I went to zumba with MIL last week for the first time and that was tues so i will continue with that despite being useless at it. The DC are not usually asleep until 9pm, especially ds2 who takes 2 hrs to wind down and fall asleep and by the time they are asleep i'm usually shattered. Zumba is my escape from the dc leaving dh to do the bath/bed routine. I cant seem to find mfp on my apps store so will have a search. In serious need of some weight loss buddies!

MelodyPondering · 13/05/2012 11:14

Just walking more would make a difference if you find it hard to find the time, after you've put the kids to bed is no good at that time of day, I couldn't do it that's for sure!

I'm so in the zone today, feeling so fat and bloated. I'm going to be so good this week. Hoping to lose at least another 3lbs by Friday. Onwards and bloody upwards. I will NOT be fat on this holiday!

dietstartstmoz · 13/05/2012 21:21

I have downloaded mfp and put in my details. It says I should be eating 1200 calories a day to lose 2lb per week. This doesnt sound like a lot but i havent worked out what i'm eating yet but is this do-able? Thinking special k for breakfast, ham salad for lunch and fruit and chicken for dinner. Just panicking that 1200 calories wont go far.

MelodyPondering · 13/05/2012 22:08

I put todays food into mfp just to see how many calories it was and it was just over 1200...but today I was trying to be very good!

I had:
1 x toast and marmite
Tuna, mayo and peppers
2 x hard boiled eggs
Chicken breast, broccoli, sweet potato and cabbage.

So I think its doable but it does seem like not very much! It was 16.5 ww points and I'm allowed 22 a day.

Give it a go, fill up with lots of veg and water!

I managed my hour long davina dvd. Feeling so much better Smile

MelodyPondering · 14/05/2012 08:27

How are you getting on flabby? Hope you're ok?

chirpchirp · 14/05/2012 10:54

Hi everyone
Hope the weekend was filled with temptation for everyone!

Well I got up at 6am for a date with 30 day shred and feel really good for it. Still managing to stay on track although I think I should lay off the caramel snack a jacs for a few days!

Diet I also have the same allowance and finding it ok. Here is around about what I've been eating

Breakfast 2 x scrambled eggs and a pint of water
snack 1 x banana, can of diet coke.

Lunch tomato soup, slice of brown bread, apple, water.
Snack - apple/banana
Dinner - Chicken or fish with salad or veggies.

Back up snacks - caramel snack a jacs and more fruit.

The first few days I thought I would be really hungry but after a week or so you really get used to it and don't feel as hungry. If you find that it's not enough for you exercise is the key. If you want to eat more an hours walking will give you an extra 330 calories to play with.

MelodyPondering · 14/05/2012 17:29

Well done on the early morning shred chirp...I'm impressed!

I bought It a while ago and have lent it to a friend so she can be my guinea pig Wink

I plan to start it 60 days before my holiday and give it all I've got...it terrified me though! Do you do it every day? I'm thinking I'm going to need weights too aren't I?

Been a bit of a crap day, couldn't sleep last night and woke up feeling ill Sad. I think I've been ok with food but not going to get to go swimming as I'm still not feeling right.

IWantSummer · 14/05/2012 18:42

Hi all,
I joined early on but only half hearted attempt. Sad
So today I had a pizza hut lunch!! (bored/killing time before collecting the boys!)

Afterwards went into tesco to get screw things.
I have serious wardrobe issues as nothing fits. I have been in denial for 18mths (maybe longer). My weight has give from 60kg to just over 70kg.
I have avoided biting new clothes because what a waste, I just need tonlose weight and have more than enough to wear.
Today for some reason I thought I would try some clothes. I grabbed size 12 shorts & trousers. couldn't come close to doing them up.SadSadSadSad
The worst thing though was looking in the mirror and seeing a body that I dud not recognise!!!AngryAngryAngrySadSadAngryAngry
The lumps and bumps on my thighs and butt could not hide. (I don't have mirrors st home except small bathroom one)
I took a picture I was that disgusted at what I saw. (then cried in the car Sad)
So it's time to change and hoping you can help me along the way.
I don't want a fad diet I just want to be sensible and healthy.
I am wondering if I can try to do 30min exercise a day and change some food habits.

chirpchirp · 14/05/2012 19:46

Thanks Melody Hoping to do it every day this week but have generally been managing about 3 time a week. Weights to help just small ones but if you don't have any just fill a couple of bottles up with water and it'll do the trick. Level 1 is as far as I got. Level 2 is just too hard at the moment. Will attempt level 2 again once the first stone is off.

I Iwantsummer welcome aboard. I know how you're feeling and believe me I'm a lot bigger than you. Now you've made the choice it's time to stop beating yourself up. Good luck this week. What are your downfalls? What exercise are you going to do?

MelodyPondering · 15/05/2012 09:46

Oh iwantsummer I know exactly how you feel.

I'm feeling so much better as I'm more in control now, and I know I will look better if I stick to it. So I'm with you,we can do it! Smile

Could you download my fitness pal or maybe look at going to weight watchers?

The davina dvds are great exercise and also fun to do...

Good luck with the shred chirp I know its hardcore, its next on my list Wink

I've been excellent with food, but ds2 had taken to waking me up every night and because I'm not drinking wine my sleep is adjusting..it was 2am before I got to sleep last night, so no exercise this morning. Planning on an hour swimming later....must keep it up!

Everyone doing well, who's next to weigh in?!

IWantSummer · 15/05/2012 10:21

morning all!
Dropped dc to school then did 5km on the treadmill-jog walk combination.
Day one of taking back control off to a good start.
Weetabix for breakfast before setting off to get some work done.

IWantSummer · 15/05/2012 10:22

Poor you Melody -does your dc get up or do you have to get up to him? Does he settle back quickly?
Enjoy your swim.

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 10:34

Can I join? :) I'm very big. Very uncomfortable and dreading my summer holiday :( I've left it too late to make a big difference but just a little may help. I need some help as I've never dieted before ( hence being the size I am) Thought about slimming world online. Is anyone here a member?
