BIWI's Bootcamp - Week 3 Weigh In - New Starters Welcome!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/04/2012 17:52

So our two weeks of Bootcamp seem to have gone well, with some spectacular losses. Between us I think we have lost enough to make 3 or 4 new MNetters!

It's up to you now how you want to proceed. If you have a lot of weight to lose, or you like the strictness of it, you can carry on with Bootcamp. New joiners should start with Bootcamp anyway.

If you are nearly at your target, or you were finding Bootcamp a bit too restrictive, then you can move to Bootcamp Light - or you could do a hybrid of the two, which is what I am doing - Bootcamp Monday to Thursday and Bootcamp Light Friday to Sunday (which means that you can include alcohol at the weekend!)

As a reminder, or for those who are new, these are the Bootcamp rules:

1.Eat three, proper meals a day
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food, and focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs.
Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Maximise your fat intake.
Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ? this is where your carbs should come from.
But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list (see below). You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

5.Minimal dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited).
If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but only in small amounts.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol

8.No fruit

9.No nuts/seeds

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

And this is the allowed list of veg:

Don?t eat any veg unless it?s on this list, and try and focus on eating those that are under 3g carbs per 100g:

Veg (raw)Carbs per 100g
Mushrooms0.4
Watercress0.4

Marabou I am checked and I go from border line hypo (under active) to low normal.

NotMostPeople · 06/05/2012 17:41

Coo-ee right I'm back on track. I can't tell you how bad i was yesterday but I was shocked to find I'd lost 2lb's this morning. However I suspect my bad behaviour will bite me on the bottom in the next couple of days. I actually didn't enjoy being bad much, so in a way it was good to do if only to realise that it's a bit pointless.

B: egg & ham
L: chicken salad.

Glass of wine to celebrate Man City scoring 2:0.

Fazerina · 06/05/2012 18:42

MNP, what kind of symptoms did you experience before getting it checked? Are you on any medication for it and have you noticed if it has any effect on weightloss?

From the symptoms I read about I recognise at least the constant feeling cold, tiredness, feeling low and weight fluctuations/difficulty losing weight. Of course that could be any number of things, but I thought to ask the GP about tests anyway just to be sure..

Fazerina · 06/05/2012 18:45

Wuups, I was logged on as my "alter ego":). It's Marabou:)!

Marabou · 06/05/2012 18:53

Right, I'm back.. I just did a google search out of curiosity, as I read that hypothyroidism can be an autoimmune disease and saw that there is a link with it and uveitis (a type of inflammation of the eye), which I've had on and off for about two years now, so will definitely ask the doctor about that too..

NotMostPeople · 06/05/2012 19:05

Marabou I have an under active thyroid it was diagnosed after I had ds (my third within three years). The Dr was surprised that I hadn't noticed the tiredness - erm I had two babies and a toddler who wouldn't be tired. My medication has been at the right level for a while now but it's noticeably harder to loose weight.

mummyduff · 06/05/2012 19:16

Hi all, had a great day food wise

Breakfast - eggs, mushrooms and 2 rashers bacon
Lunch - salad
Dinner - I need help - my DH is on way back from Manchester after watching Man Utd and has announced he wants a Chinese.
Is there anything I can have thats ok on this WOE or would Indian be better?? Confused

Marabou · 06/05/2012 20:18

NotMostPeople, wau, the doctor clearly didn't have children:)! You must have been exhausted though with that condition and taking care of three LOs.

Hm, I read that many of the symptoms sort of creep in over a long period of time and therefore they might be hard to notice, as you become so used to them. Well, I hope I won't have it, but if I do it would sure enough be a nicer explanation for 5 years of being 25 kgs overweight than just sheer lazyness Grin!

Marabou · 06/05/2012 20:49

mummyduff I'm no expert, but would think Indian would be easier.. Hope you'll have a lovely meal!

mummyduff · 06/05/2012 21:01

Thanks Marabou Smile

GreenEyesAndHam · 07/05/2012 00:43

Dinner tonight was a pub roast, sans potatoes naturellement, with a cheese plate for dessert.

Spent the evening at the pub, drinking tap water!

Marabou fellow uveitis sufferer here, on and off for 12 years in total but touch wood, clear for the last 18 months

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 07/05/2012 07:56

Whoop! Got on the scales this morning, and am 10.10.6. My start weight was 11.3 last Monday so I am v happy. Only 10lbs to go. Mr Spam has also been bootcamping and has lost a whole stone.

ilovemyteddy · 07/05/2012 09:08

188.2lb this morning so that's 3.2lb in the last week. Woohoo!!

Livelongandprosper · 07/05/2012 09:11

9st 1lb this morning. That's 8lbs down since bootcamp started and 1lb below my target weight.

Well done everybody, you are all fab.

I never thought I'd be saying this but I need to eat more. Imagine a turtle past its first flush of youth and with its little wrinkly neck poking out of its shell - that's my neck, that is.

MsRinky · 07/05/2012 09:26

Morning, losers.

OK, I started bootcamp at 107.8kg, and this morning I am 104.1. Ta-da!

Even better, today is my official 6 week mark, and my total loss of 6.4kg is a smidgeon over a stone in old money. Hurrah.

BIWItheBold · 07/05/2012 09:33

Grin Livelong

Well done everyone, and especially to MrSpam!.

Sad to say, as I expected, (and based on past performance over the last 3 months) I'm back up by 3lbs this morning, so 10. 2 1/4.

Back to Bootcamp for me.

DoUntoOtters · 07/05/2012 09:34

Only half a pound off this week, making a total of 7lbs since I started.

I have been a bit 'bunged up' though and hope that when things start 'moving' I'll see more of a loss.

smokinaces · 07/05/2012 09:39

10st 12 this morning, so another two pound this week and a total of 9 in last three.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/05/2012 09:41

I have lost 2lbs
Seven in total and now bang on 10st

And I breathed in, and I leaned left and right to see if i could get a magic 9, but I couldn't. So then I contemplated taking off my watch and my bracelets to see if i could get a magic 9, then I decided i couldn't really be arsed with all that Grin

smokinaces · 07/05/2012 09:44

Just think how good that magic nine will be next week Piste :-)

I have aaaaaaaaages till I get to that point. Rather jealous.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/05/2012 09:47

Smoky - you will get there!
