BIWI's Bootcamp - Week 3 Weigh In - New Starters Welcome!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/04/2012 17:52

So our two weeks of Bootcamp seem to have gone well, with some spectacular losses. Between us I think we have lost enough to make 3 or 4 new MNetters!

It's up to you now how you want to proceed. If you have a lot of weight to lose, or you like the strictness of it, you can carry on with Bootcamp. New joiners should start with Bootcamp anyway.

If you are nearly at your target, or you were finding Bootcamp a bit too restrictive, then you can move to Bootcamp Light - or you could do a hybrid of the two, which is what I am doing - Bootcamp Monday to Thursday and Bootcamp Light Friday to Sunday (which means that you can include alcohol at the weekend!)

As a reminder, or for those who are new, these are the Bootcamp rules:

1.Eat three, proper meals a day
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food, and focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs.
Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Maximise your fat intake.
Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ? this is where your carbs should come from.
But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list (see below). You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

5.Minimal dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited).
If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but only in small amounts.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol

8.No fruit

9.No nuts/seeds

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

And this is the allowed list of veg:

Don?t eat any veg unless it?s on this list, and try and focus on eating those that are under 3g carbs per 100g:

Veg (raw)Carbs per 100g
Mushrooms0.4
Watercress0.4

Grin @jacaqueen's Ikea trauma! And well done on such a loss, think u deserved those G&ts.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/05/2012 10:20

Shock and Envy at 15lbs on boot camp. Blimey wow!

Jacaqueen · 05/05/2012 10:50

Thankyou

I can't believe how well it is working this time. I have another 3 st to lose at least but I don't feel daunted by it all anymore.

I really love the type of food we can eat. This plan has sort of re-awakened my passion for food and cooking. I feel so good that the weight loss is just an added bonus.

BIWItheBold · 05/05/2012 10:55

Fantastic, Jac!

gothicmama · 05/05/2012 11:08

I wish today was weighin day cos I lost a lb and now feel under so much pressure to be good whilst watching FA cup final so I don't undo all the good before offical weighin

FavadiCacao · 05/05/2012 11:53

Well done Jacaqueen.

Total loss for mois 6.6lb (on bootcamp), but a total of 4st, only 10lb to go. :)

mummyduff · 05/05/2012 11:54

Morning all, well done Jacaqueen thats fantastic.

Pleased to say the 1lb I had put back on has now gone Smile I held off having anything bad last night and went to bed early instead of caving in.

Doing well today:
Breakfast was boiled eggs and am 2 litres of water down so far today.
We are out for lunch but intend to be good (some type of salad) .

Then home made beef stroganoff with green beans for dinner.

Have a fab day all x

ilovemyteddy · 05/05/2012 12:32

Afternoon all

Well done Jacaqueen on your weightloss, and also Favadicaco on your 4st

I agree with you Jaca that this WOE can reignite your passion for food and cooking because you have to think more about what you are eating, and be more creative with your meal plans. I've also rediscovered food I'd forgotten I liked - spinach, yum yum!

I'm glad to say that I have lost some more weight and am getting nearer the halfway stage in my target of losing 5 and a half stones. Will wait until Monday to report back Grin

smokinaces · 05/05/2012 12:39

Afternoon all. Gearing up for weigh Jm Monday. Think its only going to be 1lb, but I'm week three so expected after 7lb in a fortnight. And more exciting is I am now less than one stone to target - and can wear skinny jeans in a size twelve :-)

Breakfast here was Bacon and mushrooms. Lunch a handful of macademias, handful of olives and some mackeral with a cuppa. Dinner is unplanned as of yet.

OliviaLMumsnet · 05/05/2012 13:29

Yikes at Monday weigh in, it has not been a brilliant start.
I had one of those shakes for the first time, it tasted alright and did leave me full until lunch (though I did have a late brekkieBlush)
Cod and salad for lunch
Dont know what we have planned for supper.

DoUntoOtters · 05/05/2012 14:12

Which shake are you using, Olivia?

Someone on another thread said they have a vanilla protein shake, add a shot of espresso and a glug of double cream and whizz it in a blender with some ice for a frappuchino.

This would make me very happy indeed. Grin But I don't know which of the hundreds of powders to go for. Confused

OliviaLMumsnet · 05/05/2012 14:46

Bought one from my online shopping provider (usual MNHQ disclaimers) BUT
It is this one and I am now worrying that it's not lowcarb enough.
sigh.
LOVe the idea of espresso in it though.

DoUntoOtters · 05/05/2012 15:37

Thanks, Olivia. I think I'll try the Holland and Barrett one here. 16g carbs per serving is still a lot for boot camp rules though.

OliviaLMumsnet · 05/05/2012 18:20

Yes, I think mine is NOT lowcarb

NotMostPeople · 05/05/2012 21:44

I have gone well and truly bonkers, I will leave this thread and come back when I'm back low caribing.

Which I will because I like being in my slim me jeans.

LackaDAILYcarb · 05/05/2012 22:00

"I've also rediscovered food I'd forgotten I liked - spinach, yum yum!"

Oh YY to that! I have re-discovered that aubergine fried in butter is the yummiest taste and texture in the world.

mummyduff · 06/05/2012 07:06

5th night with no sleep and DS2 has now developed a nasty croup cough! It must have been coming on hence the disturbed nights this week Sad

Oh well just had some water and a strong black coffee to start the day.

I would agree with everyone re the food, have rediscovered so many recipes its great x

BIWItheBold · 06/05/2012 07:24

NMP - don't go! If you stay, we can help to keep you inspired as well as support you. Are you OK?

mummduff - sorry to hear about your son Sad

gothicmama · 06/05/2012 08:04

Nmp don't go its a WOE that can be difficult to establish I have struggled and continue to struggle with it however I can keep trying by smaller steps for example low carb breakfast and dinner then I started toi low carb lunches (hard to do with my job) eating leftover dinner did n't work to well. Getting your body used to drinking water was also problematic so I started at a weekend adding a drink of water before having a hot drink. It is still hard not to eat chocolate but I have some at weekends (cos I don't drink alcohol)

Marabou · 06/05/2012 09:57

Morning all! So yesterday's birthday party was a fiasco instead of my good intentions and dodgy tummy declarations right at the door:(. The mum's sister had made a no-added-sugar-toddler-friendy-thing (cake she called it I think..), which my DS of course refused to eat and I was pressured not to leave it on the plate.. Well, on the upside, it was a small baby size sliver and ended up taking a brisk walk home pushing the buggy for an hour. Ooh, and people were commenting that I looked slimmer:)!

Well, the rest of the day stuck to the plan and drank buckets of water and today started with the usual boiled buttered eggs..

GreenEyesAndHam · 06/05/2012 10:06

Morning!

I feel ridiculously bouncy this weekend, mainly because I'm still losing WHICH I CAN'T BELIEVE. I really thought I'd have either stalled or quit by now, but nope.

5 and a half inches off my stomach Shock

smokinaces · 06/05/2012 11:27

Morning. Was out last night and had one glass of red wine, diet coke and some peanuts. Cheese mim with bacon and mushrooms for a late breakie. Love this woe.

MNP · 06/05/2012 12:17

I have this H&B one 1.6g carbs per Serving, I have 2 servings.

Static weight for me as off early fishing tomorrow, got tonnes to loose but it seems happy to hang around.

MNP · 06/05/2012 12:19

Way to go GreenEggs

Marabou · 06/05/2012 12:48

Just had a chat with my mom and was complaining to her about my weight fluctuating (I know I know, I'm not even three days into BC and have already cheated Blush..). Anyway, she suggested that I have my thyroid checked. Apparently hypothyroidism (not sure if that's the correct word..) Is quite common after childbirth. Having now checked some more info on this, I'm thinking that many of the symptoms sound familiar to me, so I'm planning to ask the GP to get a bloodtest.. Has anyone had this?
