Hi all

Have fallen off the wagon a bit over the last few days, know it will be hard to get back on it today with it being the Bank Holiday and no plans to keep me busy. Have been doing the exercise but eating like a fat cah Angry.

Em I know exactly how you feel. Have you tried doing some exercise to boost your mood? It tends to have a knock on effect on the eating.

ppeat that book sounds interesting, I thinkI'll order it from the library.

Alibaba I do love a boozy lunch with friends Grin

Sorry things are so hard at the moment kinky and arfur

tb I always wake up on the '3,2,1' as well. They should do a version of the CD for people who want to use it to go to sleep with!!!!

Gossip, I've got a craving for MaccyDs choc muffin now!!!!! Smile

Happy bank holiday everyone.

Rosylee1976 · 07/05/2012 10:09

Morning all

Haven't done so well myself, so I hear you Em. Not majorly off the wagon, but ate more than I should have as I could not bear to throw food out. It was already left overs so could not be saved yet again. I really need to get out of this because it does no good for the food to be inside me instead of the bin. So I ate faster too, because I knew if I ate slowly, I would get full quicker! How awful is that!

The only good thing is that unlike with diets, I know I haven't "ruined" anything. There is no plan to fall off. Just have to make sure that the next time I eat, I am hungry, that I eat slowly and stop when full. The fab thing is we ALL get to start again with each meal! I have a chinese buffet today, and I plan to do as well as I did on Day 2. I haven't been listening to the CD for a few days and I really must get into it as I do think it is beneficial.

Have a great day all. Keep the faith!!!

Thank you for all your advice, it's lovely to know i'm not on my own.
i'm feeling a little better today, trying not to think about it all too much, which seems to help.
i just need to snap out of the "i want to lose 1 stone in a week" and set real goals.
it's 3 weeks untill my dreaded 30th and i would love to be settled into a Paul way for life.
i hope everyones having a lovely bank holiday
x

Thetokengirl · 07/05/2012 17:40

Hi All
Hugs all round don't care if it is un-Mumsnetty . I think we should blame this supermoon or something Confused
I went out for a meal on Saturday night, ate slowly but ate and drank too much and had the best pudding ever (sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel icecream for those that want to know).
I always find weekends harder than when I am at work in the week, so although I've not done dreadfully, I haven't been eating slowly enough.
Think I need to listen to the cd again tonight.
Good Pauling all and happy early birthday to Em

LaWobble · 07/05/2012 22:52

Well I have been eating like a maniac today Angry Sad. FFS.

arfur · 07/05/2012 23:32

Havent been too bad today. Had takeaway curry tonight and shared a main course with dd so not too much food but am now feeling crap as the onion salad (raw onion) has set off my mild and recently mostly absent IBS (pp am guessing you will have info as to why this is). Its usually stress related so may be a combination of last week and dh's impending trip away on thurs. Am going to have be extra careful then as bingeing is always a possibility when Im on my own abandonment issues but I guess knowing and admitting the problem is half the battle. Am going to pick myself up and get back on it tomorrow as today doesnt really count as the start of the week! Good luck everyone - we can do it xx Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/05/2012 07:32

Morning all Smile

Lovely weekend, and we celebrated my birthday with my parents yesterday which was lovely.
Today is my actual birthday - and I am poorly! Sad Headache, wheezy, coughing, sore throat. Yuck. Just need to summon the will to take DS1 to preschool so that I might get a chance to have a nap, if DS2 will sleep!

PositiveAttitude · 08/05/2012 08:00

Hello everyone and Happy Birthday Ali I hope you have a good day despite being poorly!

I don't know if any of you remember me..... I was here about a year ago and I did really well and lost nearly 3 stone, then life happened!! Fell off the wagon totally and have put weight back on. Blush

I now would like to start again. Will you have me back? I have listened to my MP3 this morning and it felt good! I have also been noticing that over the months I have been enjoying my food less and less and I just have been eating for the sake of eating. Blush

Today is a new day and the first day of the rest of my life.

ppeatfruit · 08/05/2012 08:52

Morning All!! Smile Yay Positive of course I remember you!! it's good to hear you be like yr name!! Just jump back on P.M. IYKWIM Blush

Ali Many Happy Returns !! Hope you get a nap later!

Arfur IMO It's either a reaction to the chilli or coconut (i can't eat either on my blood type!) or chicken or pork and wheat. Oh dear thank you Dr. ppeat!!Blush

solo Are you still about and okay?

LA Start again girl!! You'll be fine!

Token Thanks for the hugs!!! Grin

EmWe had a great bank hol. Monday we went to the special local monthly Marche and I got chatted up by the pepiniere who was selling me a grape vine and ceanothus; he called me 'Adorable'!! i still can't quite believe it! I had no make up on either!! Mind you Frenchmen are terrible in that respect!! But i WAS wearing me size 10 jeans! and top YAAY!!

PositiveAttitude · 08/05/2012 10:29

Errr yes, if jumping on PM is a requisite, I might have to pass, PPeat Grin

ppeatfruit · 08/05/2012 11:27

Oh me and Sols mightn't!! Blush but i don't want to start us drooling again Blush

GossipWitch · 08/05/2012 14:08

Hi all hope everyone is doing ok, this weekend has been tough in the eating slowly thing but I am back on it now, just made my self 2 crumpets with butter, and I've left almost a full one well just over half, so it must be working, im wearing baggy jeans, they were tight a few months ago, but they are stretchy round the waist which meant they would slide down a little, however now I have to wear a belt with them as they are sliding over my hips now too and I am constantly pulling them up, which must mean i have lost a little weight whilst eating junk food. Also I was running round for 4 hours yesterday with my three year old inside a mahoosive indoor play area, I think that may have contributed alot, there's nothing like a million stairs, platforms, rigging and ballpits and a lively 3yr old boy to make you slim :)

Rosylee1976 · 08/05/2012 19:24

Evening all

Happy Birthday Ali. Hope that you had a good day despite feeling poorly.

PositiveAttitiude - did you lose 3 stone with PMK?

Well Done GossipWitch, sounds like you are doing really well.

pp size 10! Oh I envy you....:0

Just had supper - chicken, fried egg rice and veggies. But had the smallest portion ever. Which is good as I definitely overdid it at the chinese buffet yesterday. Missed lunch due to work ,although I have to say that with the pressure of the work, I did not feel very hungry.

Need to try and be consistent with the GR's. Has anyone read the book called "Intuitive Eating"? It seems to have similar lines to PMK. The library does not stock it and I don't want to spend the money to buy it. Times are tough after all :(

Hope you are all OK.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/05/2012 20:28

Hi PA! I remember you from last year. Sorry that things have gone pear-shaped, but welcome back to the PMK fold Grin

Rosy - have you tried amazon marketplace or eBay for the book? Have to say I am v.bad at just ordering things on my kindle, because it doesn't feel like spending money! Blush

PositiveAttitude · 08/05/2012 20:33

Yes, Rosylee, all with PMK! Smile But I have put half of it back on again! Blush

Do you have a Kindle? There is a book called "Overfed Head" that is a free download (might work by downloading it to your computer if you havent got a Kindle) which is also along the same lines as PMK. I was incredibly sceptical of PMK when I started and was happier reading that book as it had less "hokum pokum" in it Then I realised that it was exactly the same as PMK and actually the "hokum pokum" seemed to work! Grin Blush

Well a fairly good day to start me off. This is so easy to hop straight back into. I have actually enjoyed drinking lots again and have just eaten when I was hungry. although I did have some yummy chocolate fudge cake that I seriously could have gone without!

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2012 07:29

Morning all SmileRosy I didn't think i'd ever get back to a size 10! Grin i lost nigh on 3 stone on PMK too and it's still off with the stretches, Muffin busting exes and blood type of course!! I always took a snac box (some fresh fruit, macadamias, pumpkin seeds, sultanas etc.) to work with me (and even when i go out now) you never know when hunger will strike and of course we pauletters HAVE to eat when that happens! DH thinks a cup of coffee will do instead of a meal and he never manages to loose much weight. (he just gets ravenous and looses his temper!!) Just the actual biological act of eating slowly and digesting uses energy (or in O.F. diet speak;calories)!

Well done P.A but IKWYM about choc. cake I made some wheat free peanut butter choc, low sugar, almond fudge and am finding it difficult to stop at just one or 2 pieces!!)

JustFab · 09/05/2012 13:14

Hello everyone!

I have a bad headache but can't face taking anything. They taste so awful.

I have had a piece of wholemeal toast and peanut butter at 7 and another of the same at 11 ish. Just had lunch which was home made red pepper and sweet potato soup and some wholemeal bread. I will be having roast lamb with dh for dinner but not until 7. I feel teary today and want to eat to cheer myself up which is stupid I know.

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2012 13:44

justfab Remember you ONLY eat when you're hungry AND you MUST eat then slowly and consciously etc. best not to wait till a particular time.

GossipWitch · 09/05/2012 14:21

I'm feeling fat today :( looked in the mirror this morning and looked like I'd put on 10 pounds but I haven't comfort ate in my misery, I only had a sausage and cheese toastie, couldn't eat all of it but i did eat it fast :(

JustFab · 09/05/2012 14:22

It sounds so simple doesn't it? Just eat when hungry. I never learnt that. I never knew if I would be fed again so ate whenever I could. Even now when I do the food shopping I have no control and battle over food every day. The eating at 7 is because that is when dh will definitely be home and the baby will be in bed. If I ate with the kids it would be too early and I would end up eating again and eating too much. I don't feel right today and actually don't feel hungry but then it isn't that long since lunch. It is the 6 hours between lunch and dinner which is a pain.

tb · 09/05/2012 14:36

Btw, you can read kindle ebooks on a PC or a Mac. All you need to do is to download the relevant ebook reader from the kindle store on Amazon.

Will see if I can find the one mentioned by Positive

Also jealous of anyone in size 10 jeans Blush

I've noticed that, despite the exercises being quite frightening, and the thought of them being impossible - ie imagining myself thin etc etc, listening to the cd does seem to be having an effect on the speed and the amount I'm eating.

The other thing is that, with reference to goal setting, unless you have your 'inner child' (yes, I know a bit 80s etc) on board, it's apparently impossible to reach a goal.

Following a very abusive childhood, my inner child can only be seen on Feb 29th, if then, so feel a bit stuck on the imagining goals.

Does anyone else have a problem with them?

tb · 09/05/2012 16:37

Found it - costs £1.26, and doesn't seem to say a lot that's different from PMK. Just that he has 6 rules, and doesn't have all the visualisation exercises.

Cross with myself. I was a bit hungry, so went and cut myself a bit of parmesan off the slice in the fridge. The shavings that fell off would have done, but, stupidly, I ate the piece I'd cut off instead.

Maybe it's progress that I've realised the smaller amount would have been satisfying - the bigger amount just wasn't, really. Not blaming myself, just a bit, well, sad sort of.

MardyBra · 09/05/2012 17:12

Hi all and welcome back Positive. I'm also a returner from last year too.

pp your snack box is a great idea. Sometimes I've been eating breakfast without being hungry, because I know I won't have a chance to eat lunch until about 1.30, and I know I'll need something before then. I don't generally get much downtime with my job where I can snack though - but maybe I could grab a quick bite.

I was wondering whether it would be helpful for those of us who went to the seminar last year to share some of the things we found helpful, particularly for the newbies to the thread.

For example, I remember PMK saying quite early on in the seminar something along the lines of "You are not a bad person for being overweight. You are just someone who has developed some poor eating habits." I know it's obvious, but there is so much "fat-bashing" around, that it was very positive to have that spelt out.

Also, he did a thing where he did a thing where we all had to collectively pretend to eat slowly together - putting our imaginary knife and fork down while we all chewed slowly and stuff. I don't know if he was using some NLP technique or something at the time, but I still think about this when I am trying to slow down eating.

He had two of the women from the book there too and it was very interesting listening to them talking about the experience.

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2012 17:17

Fab and tb I'm very Sad about your backgrounds; it must make it a real challenge to have positive self images and therefore lot harder to change. But I respect you both for giving it a go (P.M. DOES address our images which I hope is being helpful to you) Big Hugs and xxx Grin

ppeatfruit · 09/05/2012 17:24

Hi Mardy We cross posted!! Funny i'd forgotten about that pretend eating but in spite of the cold theatre it was a good experience wasn't it? I think he does say something like that on one of the C.Ds.
