How does one stay motivated when at least 3 stone to lose?

I find the first 3 weeks easy, then I just want to pack it all in. I think its because it's more than just a few pounds I need to lose. I need to lose AT LEAST 3 stone, just to be in the healthy weight range.

I know it's going to take quite some time. I know there's no hurrying it, but I'm just so overwhelmed by it all.

Oh and another thing is that I can see NO DIFFERENCE in my body whatsoever Sad. I still feel massive ( well I am at over 13st ) but I really thought I would look a little slimmer. I still seem to have this horroble wobbly over hanging belly, and hideous tree trunk legs. I really, really want to be able to wear leggings and long tops but my legs are soooo fat. I have no ankles to speak off !! Sad aghhhhhhhhhhhhh bad day today !! Its days like this I fall off the carb wagon lol !!

ssmile · 18/04/2012 14:21

crikybill wow 11lbs in 4wks is excellent you should be really pleased! That's nearly 3lbs a week. I average 1-2lbs per week, my body has changed loads now but I'm 3.5mths into my healthy change. I was 13st6lb, I'm now 11st8lb and I'm only 5ft 3 but my legs are looking very toned after 3mths of walking, cycling and Shreding. Keep at it you will get there! :)

Crikey- 11lb is great and you have lost that very quickly! I am sure if you keep it up the weight will continue to come off

crikeybill · 18/04/2012 16:05

Yeah except when I look in the mirror I don't see an 11lb loss. I look no different to me. I still see a 13 stone heffer :(

......I just ate a whole bag of m&s choc covered rasins as well. There were about 9 g of fat and over 300 cals in that bag......dammit.........this is so what I do.

I am on Day 4 since getting back properly after Easter and so far so good. I have already lost 21lb this year and am aiming for another 21 over the next 3 months. In the past I have seen some big losses (3lb) even after several weeks dieting, so they do happen if you stick to it. For me, it's averaged out about 1.5lbs a week.

Crikey well done, keep going. Your clothes should start to feel a little looser soon. 14lbs is a dress size I believe so it won't be long before you go down a size Smile

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/04/2012 23:28

crikey, I bet you do look different you just aren't seeing it yourself. Second measuring and looking at a photo, or putting some slightly tighter fitting clothes on and then looking, i find that usually makes it clearer to see as well sometimes.

I have managed three days so far on track and feeling quite pleased with myself! I did however wake up with low blood sugars today and had trouble keeping on top of them and had three hypos in one day (not good) and ended up having to eat some chocolate cake having run out of glucose tablets at work! I think because I am eating more sensibly and less carbs I need to cut down my insulin more significantly than I first thought.

Played netball tonight and then went out for a meal, was proud of myself to have chosen sensibly (chicken wrap, vegetable ratouille side and not chips! and no desert) - the netball calories compensated for the slightly extra in my meal so still ended up just under.

Even though AF arrived today, am feeling extremely positive about the rest of the week.

MadameChinLegs · 19/04/2012 09:16

Hercule- nandos perchance? I fear that place will be my downfall.

Crikey - well done! Am sure you look thinner than before, just you cant see it yourself. i think also staying in the fatter clothes makes it seem as though you havent lost anything.

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/04/2012 12:21

Yes it was!

Not sure - maybe track it ad see how the weight loss goes? I'd been fab all day, then after tea still hungry and have eaten ridiculous amount. However I am not goongtonlet or bad evening ruin my week and am hoping as a one off will not ruin this week.

MadameChinLegs · 19/04/2012 21:28

Well I had a succesfull day...weetabix for breakfast...was out at the shops so had starbucks tomato and mozarella panini (think they are around 350cals according to mfp) with a bottle of sparkling water which gave me a full feeling with all the fizz....stir fried a chicken breast with noodles and sauce for dinner. I sneakily added on the 2 hour walk around the shops to give me more 'credits' but i havent used them.

Im not really a snacker, tend to have just a cup of tea between meals, but in a way I wish I was as its the perfect time to add in some fruit.

Going to pop to aldi tomorrow for some nice healthy fruit and veg.

Fairenuff · 19/04/2012 22:02

Good idea to have a drink if you feel hungry. Thirst feels like hunger anyway, so best to drink just in case that's what it is. Also, don't know what the rest of you feel about this but I actually think it's ok to feel hungry.

Not starving, obviously, but just a bit peckish. I find I can ignore it until next mealtime usually and I am starting to enjoy having a proper appetite again instead of just 'topping myself up' all day.

Hi everyone

If its not too late, I'd really like to join the thread too.

So far this year I've lost almost two stone (would like to lose one more). I had so much motivation, didn't touch chocolate, not even a spare chip when cooking for dc.
Was doing low GI.

But I've completely run out of steam and I'm slipping back to my old greedy ways. Been scoffing chocolate every night this week!

I'm so scared I'm going to put it back on.

I'm hoping I can get some support and encouragement here, as I can't motivate myself right now.

Will check in again tomorrow! Thanks!

Fairenuff · 19/04/2012 22:24

Grin yes, don't let it go too far or you will just eat all the wrong things! But have a drink and try to put it off a little longer, do something else to take your mind off it for a bit and see if the feeling goes away. If not, have a low cal snack.

Fairenuff · 19/04/2012 22:28

That was to 80/20 btw. Also, low cal soup is great for a quick fill up because it goes straight to the stomach and makes you feel full.

Hi fanta I am in a similar position to you. Lost about 23lbs then put a couple back on over Easter. Took me a while but I'm back on track now and stictly no cheating Smile

fantagrape · 20/04/2012 09:15

Hi Faire !

Well done being back on track!

I'm feeling positive this morning and in control of my eating. Had a sensible breakfast (wholewheat toast and baked beans).

Felt silly measuring my diet margarine with a teaspoon! But its necessary for me right now otherwise I get carried away.

Anyone else eating low Gi?

MadameChinLegs · 20/04/2012 09:34

Anyone still able to have a takeawau? We usually have a chinese on a friday....think chow mein may be the best option?

Fairenuff · 20/04/2012 16:51

Hi all Smile. MadameChin I don't eat any takeaways when dieting so can't help you there I'm afraid. Surely all takeaways are loaded with calories aren't they Confused.

I don't actually like chinese food and not keen on spicy stuff either so it's pretty easy for me to avoid.

MadameChinLegs · 20/04/2012 18:14

Well I was going to avoid them but im tryimg to establish permament healthier eating in general and worry if I avoid them totally ill end up caving and bingeing. 21oz of takeaway chowmein is roughly 500cals so ill weigh and count it in. Have been for a long walk today too to gain some extra cals to spend.

Hi fanta and faire I'm very similar I've lost 26lbs since Jan but stalled abit over Easter was okish on food but my exercise dropped a lot as both kids ill&half term but this week I'm getting back on track again as I really want to lose another 14lbs. Mon &Tues was hard as I felt like grazing all day but I've put my DDs chocolate in a tin on top shelf so I can't see it but she can still have a little each day as its her Easter chocolate. When I'm in danger zone at 11am and 3pm my blood sugar drops I find a banana really helps. I used to hate bananas, I spent 30 yrs hating them, but since ive had two girls I've slowly got used to them and I love the kids size ones :)
Had tough day (long 5hrs driving&family funeral) but managed not graze on too much food very pleased I've just logged on MFP and only over 100c I think.

BonkeyMollocks · 21/04/2012 17:03

Hi all. Wink
Do you mind if I sneak in?

I was doing really well until a month ago,I managed to lose just short of a stone since Jan, then I got flu. Didn't eat for 4 days and then once I felt better ended up eating crap :( Then Easter came along, and I haven't been able to get back on track properly yet.

I have another 2st to go.

I am going to do weightwatchers again, starting from Monday.

I won't start on a weekend, because it won't stick. But it gives me time to get in the right frame of mind, and do a healthy shop!

Right will give the thread a read, and be back!
