How does one stay motivated when at least 3 stone to lose?

I find the first 3 weeks easy, then I just want to pack it all in. I think its because it's more than just a few pounds I need to lose. I need to lose AT LEAST 3 stone, just to be in the healthy weight range.

I know it's going to take quite some time. I know there's no hurrying it, but I'm just so overwhelmed by it all.

Sorry fairnuff your reply hadn't loaded till after I posted. Hope you can keep the good work going. I'm now trying to resist the rest of the fondant fanchies :)

eightytwenty that is brilliant, it is so easy to give in to temptation when out of normal situations!

Hi eighty twenty sounds like you had lovely holiday. Very jealous of the swimming, all I do these days is sit at pools watching DD1 have lessons or take baby which she loves but I still don't get to swim! Still its nearly half term and under 2wks to our holiday so hopefully I can get a swim in too. Well done on your loss that's Fab after a holiday!

I've slowed right down now, averaging 2lbs a month but still steadily losing, lost total of 30lbs now so I'm ok with the slow down. I actually tried on size 12 shorts&trousers this week whilst clothes shopping but still a little tight, but my 14 are getting quite lose so I reckon another 5-6lbs I will make a 12 :)

I started on 4Jan using MFP to log food and do Shred 2-3* a week, plus lots walking to school &to town leaving car at home. Averaged 2lbs a week loss for 4months but I've not been quite so strict this month and lost 0.5lbs a week. Biggest thing that's helped me is I'm not "on a diet" in my head just eating healthy &exercising a lot more as I enjoy it. I want this to be a change for life so I've eaten foods I like just smaller portions and I don't keep biscuits or cakes in the house or I just eat them! MFP app has been Brill for keeping me on track. Hope it helps you too..

I'm here - hanging in there. I've not really been doing anything with my food but I have gone to the gym twice a week to classes and 8 weeks of netball start tomorrow night. DH and I are planning a bit more, so I hope to find my motivation soon. Last time once I actually got going I was fine... For me I think it is the first week or too and once past that I'm fine...

Well done you two and thank you for making me post again!!!

I can't lose weight unless I'm exercising eightytwenty so for me its very important but I think you have to do exercise you enjoy and build it into your daily life. I have very little if virtually no time to myself at the moment with baby who still breastfeeding round the clock and my 5yr old, but I walk as much as possible and get a cycle ride in for an hour at the weekend when DH about. Plus shred dvd made big difference to toning my body this is the best shape I've been in in six years :o

eighttwenty it's front crawl really - I used to swim loads as a kid, my best stroke was backstroke but it doesn't feel as energetic when you're trying to burn off fat IYKWIM!!

Signing back in and starting afresh. DH and I both starting today (weds) we have eight weeks until holiday and both really need to get back into good habits - we've thought about where are trigger points are and have alternatives in place to hopefully avoid these now..

Hope you all had nice long weekends!

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/06/2012 12:08

So far so good! Porridge for breakfast and munching on carrot sticks for snack... Planning a salad for lunch... Feeling in control still!
