How does one stay motivated when at least 3 stone to lose?

I find the first 3 weeks easy, then I just want to pack it all in. I think its because it's more than just a few pounds I need to lose. I need to lose AT LEAST 3 stone, just to be in the healthy weight range.

I know it's going to take quite some time. I know there's no hurrying it, but I'm just so overwhelmed by it all.

I think MFP relies a lot on what users put in so I wouldn't take the nutritional stuff as 100% accurate even some of the bar coded data didn't match what was on the packs. I also checked some of the calories it was using for cardio as it seems to reduce or do odd things if you change the time after your entered it. I still love MFP as a guide though!

The caramel snack a jacks definitely taste better than the chocolate ones but I have been known to add bit of icing to the top when really in need of a sugar boost Blush

Flojo1979 · 04/05/2012 22:39

Ok so my mojo didn't last long, had a bad day (food wise) yesterday and again today. Kick me now pls :(

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/05/2012 08:00

No kicking I had a bad day too yesterday. Today is another day - deep breath and start again one half of the day at a time...

randompanda · 05/05/2012 10:21

Motivation, will power, whatever you want to call it is really pretty easy when you finally actually commit to your goal. I self-sabotaged so many times with all the usual. I wanted to lose weight, felt I should and all that, but actually committed to my goal I wasn't all those times. There is no 'cheating' when you're really doing it for yourself.

Fairenuff · 05/05/2012 12:25

Great post random Smile

I had a bad day yesterday too (as we're confessing) but it was planned so I'm right back on it today. I have one week of dieting then I'm off it again for two days (a wedding and family meal). Then I will get into it again for 3 weeks before I go on holiday.

I find it easier now to have a day off and then go right back to the sensible, healthy eating. Before, I would have thought, 'Well I've blown it now, that's another week ruined' but now I know I can eat a few calories less each day for the rest of the week and still either lose or maintain Smile

crikey you still there? I had similar experience to you last weekend as you know. I have been generally better overall and have lost t all really quickly in five days. I think if you get back to it quickly you'll be fine - I thought it might take weeks!

Flojo1979 · 05/05/2012 16:16

Well today has been a good day..so far...after my blip.
I've had nothing to eat today yet, just living on cups of tea and pineapple juice as I'm out later for tea.
Been for a jog too, only bout half a mile or so (ok so i could have walked quicker!) I couldnt feel my legs after or breath! but i tried!

crikeybill · 05/05/2012 16:57

Yep I'm still here. I've got back on it and been good but I am not anywhere near as committed as before. I really really want to dip under the 13 st mark. I just feel like starting at 14 st 2lb and now being 13st 3 lb is ok but if I could be 12st something I would feel amazing ! I know that's still not slim but I haven't been under 13 for about 7 years now an I really want to be for the wedding next sat.
Ahhh I have only myself to blame I know !!
Onwards and upwards. Or rather downward on the scales lol.

Flojo1979 · 05/05/2012 17:09

You've only 4lb to lose, come on, u can do it!

ssmile · 05/05/2012 20:35

Finally hit the first big milestone on my healthy eating 2012, lost two stone :) the last 2lbs came off at last as result of a tummy bug tues (i lost 5lbs in 12hrs but 3lbs went back on once hydrated) now I want to slowly lose the next 12lbs to hit my lose 40lbs by my 40th in Feb goal I set in Jan :) then I get my "reward" of going snowboarding as not been in six yrs since having my babies. Just eaten healthy pizza using a wrap instead of pizza base so I could have couple glasses of wine.

Hope you all have healthy weekends

Fairenuff · 05/05/2012 20:45

Two stone is great !! Well done !!

Have had an unexpected childfree weekend as mum offered to take them yesterday. I've taken advantage, and got lots of cleaning jobs done. So haven't sat and ate, which is good !!!
Am now going to reward myself with one glass of cold white wine and a film !!!

Wolfiefan · 05/05/2012 22:20

Sneaking in here to say I have lost just over 2 stone this year.
Eighty if anyone laughs at you send them to me. I'll go out for a run and really give them something to chortle at!

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/05/2012 07:35

Wow well done on the two stones! I'm actually looking forward to weighing next week. As I might stay at my parents tonight I might weigh on Tuesday instead so on same scales.

Fairenuff · 06/05/2012 10:07

Wolfie well done that's brilliant. I am so happy to hear all these great results. What an inspiration.

80/20 you are braver than me 1) for putting on a wetsuit and 2) for swimming in a loch!! Is it for charity, this cannot be for fun surely? Confused Grin

< puts on comfy joggers to do some safe indoor zumba >
