Ah yes, it's that time again. New list, new decor. Same comfy chairs though Grin

So, pull up a chair, settle in and make yourselves at home Smile

Sorry you're not flaky!!!!! Lakeflypie!!! Hope your journey proves uneventful but just incase, get your most horrifically shocked look ready for your travelling companions when the smell starts to rise!!

SlinkyB · 23/04/2012 22:45

Speed curry and brown rice + train journey = recipe for disaster no?! Shock I too am intrigued by the recipe, may make a half-portion like you have, as dp hates peas and wouldn't like to try it on 14mo ds. Reckon it would be nice with SW chips.

Have had a disastrous few days thanks to a heavy cold making me feel rotten. Think self-medicating with fresh cream cakes and Lucazade was probably not the right thing to do, and still have so much temptation in the house from Easter. Can't even exercise any of it off as no energy and wheezy chest/cough, boo.

Still, enough whining from me. Girders can't believe you got hacked, how awful, hope it gets sorted soon. kid well done for staying on track and motivated, veg biryani sounds lush.

Night folks x

kid · 23/04/2012 23:01

Lake I'm too scared to try that speed curry, I really am. I think you are very brave to have eaten it when you have a long meeting but even braver when you have to travel there by train. How's the pretending to be shocked/disgusted face looking? Convincing I hope.
I am tempted to make a tiny amount of it just as a sauce to dip chips in.
I've got all of the ingredients in the cupboard and its good that it can be frozen.

Speed curry it will be then. Perhaps on Friday night so I've got the weekend near the toilet at home.

Fingers crossed for me on DoD. I need a 3lb loss to get in the next stone bracket again. I've been really good, not sure how to get there any quicker, without resorting to speed curry that is!

LakeFlyPie · 23/04/2012 23:13

Ha ha, given my recent off wagon behaviour I think Flakey is probably a more apt name FHF

Cast iron constitution I said

If you hear of a train derailment following mystery explosion somewhere near Stoke on Trent tomorrow you know it was the Speed Curry whatdunnit Grin

kid · 23/04/2012 23:22

I dare you to add some haricot beans next time, they are lethal and I'm never buying them again Grin

Rianoceros · 24/04/2012 06:53

nice high tone of coversation this morningWink

hope all is well lakefly

DH just dispatched to hospital (my lovely Dad is driving him there, 45 min journey). I SO hope this op works, it's been a long time. Feel too nervy and churned up to eat, or even have a cuppa (wonder if I'll be like this the whole time DS is away too? could work in my favourWink) It's going to be a long day, and I have cancelled being on-placement for the rest of the week (thinking I would be too distracted for 32 6 year olds), so for want of something better to do I am already dusting and polishingShock. The boys are all still fast asleep.

Am very proud of DS3, who tantrummed until convinced to compromise and take one stabiliser off his bike on Saturday. I took the other one off last night (DH was amazed - it's not that difficult to use a spanner) and he was happily cycling up and down the street and the drive all eveninSmile My baby is all grown up.

Have a good day everyoneSmile

grinningbee · 24/04/2012 08:14

Morning!

Oooooh, speed curry. I can't wait to see what happens next Good luck Lake!

Slinky Hope you're feeling better soon ((hugs)) Nice to see you in here Smile

Ria Good luck for everything today, and hope it goes perfectly. And awwww at your baby growing up!

FHF I bet you still have a loss. You're too good.

And speaking of good - Kid You're an inspiration with the effort you're putting in. Reckon you'll have a good loss tomorrow.

Hello everyone else!

I have to go food shopping soon. Yay! The bad news is that I have to use my modified car. Yep, Thing has stuck bloody eyelashes on it. They look awful. It reminded me of a drunken old lady with too much mascara, as one "eye" looks all droopy. It got pointed at yesterday. Oh the shame.

He says he'll fix it when the "ladybird" kit arrives

My food for the day shall be this:

Weetabix and a banana
Cheese triangles on toast, yogurt, apple
SW fryup - sausages (2 syns), bacon, tomatoes, eggs and 2 slices hobbit bread (6 syns)

Might chuck a bit more fruit in there to make up the 5 a day and fill me up too.

Weighing in shortly. Eeeeek!

Hi everyone I'm here! Pretty busy couple of days, sorry for not posting much. Got back on the wagon yesterday, feel much better today. I've got a filthy cold coming though, I feel a bit minging.

Arf at the car Blush bee. Good luck my friend.

girders sorry about the hacking. Will you get your money back?

How was your interview csws?
Is speed curry the new lentil pie?

Food:
B: weetabix (heb) fruit and skim milk (HEA)
L: jacket pot, beans and salad
D: seafood pasta and salad

kid · 24/04/2012 13:45

I've got shopping coming tonight and as sion as it arrives, I'm making the 1/2 syn roulade. I need something sweet.

After level 2 of shred last night, I am feeling quite achy thus morning. I shall do level 2 again tonight but will use the weights this time.

I'm hungry now but have no more food with me. I'm back in class in 15 minutes so I'll enjoy my cup of tea and hope it feels me up enough.

Rianoceros · 24/04/2012 14:07

at your cup of tea feeling you up kidWink

DH not gone down to theatre yet. how boring.

I have been ruthless and cleared out nearly all the pre-school VHS tapes that we have had cluttering up the cupboards since DS1 was tiny (vintage postman pat anyone?) I am going to put them in the garage so I can't see them, and hopefully a nice freecycler will come and take them away.

grinningbee · 24/04/2012 14:33

I'm keeping a close watch on the cup that's next to me in case it tries anything Grin

Ria - any news on your DH? Well done on the clearing. I've got 9 boxes of videos in storage that need getting rid of. Not sure if charity shops want them anymore.

Face sorry you're so busy and feeling lousy. And thank you. I need all the luck I can get. I might post a picture of the car when he's done with it. Then I might run him over with it!

I've had a pleasing loss, but that's not surprising given how awful I'd been previously. I need to keep the momentum up!

OP posts:
kid · 24/04/2012 15:33

ria, hope your dh US out of theatre soon.

bee, those eyelashes are very popular in Essex where my sister lives. I haven't seen any in London. Dh would KILL me if I bought some. Hmm, maybe he would give me his car if i put some on it?

grinningbee · 24/04/2012 16:08

Kid £1.75 with free postage on ebay. I would rip them off but it'd do no good. There's another 8 sets coming with the ladybird kit. Oh, how that FB comment last week backfired... Sad

Did the food shopping. The dc were amazingly bad, and screamed and cried the whole way round. Lots of people looked and commented. Yeah, great.

However, I saw and decided to try the Quorn wafer ham style slices. Although they are ok, the texture is a bit cardboardy. Not sure I'll bother again. Still, they made lunch a bit more filling on top of the cheese triangles on toast.

I have this weird compulsion to try the speed curry. Might do it on a day where I can stay in the following day!

OP posts:
kid · 24/04/2012 17:00

Just the following day? Grin
I remember those days of the dreaded shopping trips with DS. At least now we can leave him to wander around and meet him at the other end. Not that he wanders that far, usually he gets as far as the toy aisle and stops there.

£1.75 on Ebay, hmm, think they might have to pay me a lot more to actually put them on my car. DH would literally kill me. He won't even let us put stickers in the window or flags for the world cup. I don't mind as I don't like them either but its funny that he chooses to believe he could stop me HAHA

Come on shopping, I'm waiting and will decide what to cook when you get here. Pepsi on an empty stomach doesn't taste very nice but I don't know what to eat. Perhaps I should make up a little bit of couscous, onions and peppers for a snack otherwise I'll be eating the shopping and biscuits as I unpack.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 24/04/2012 18:55

Oh I need help, been off wagon again last night and today (although I'm blaming nerves from my dental sedation today) and now feel sick please pep talk me back on this bleeding wagon as I have a goal to achieve in 6 weeks.

kid · 24/04/2012 19:39

MadeInScot, 6 weeks isn't a huge amount of time. A good healthy loss will be 2lb a week which equals 12lb which is just short of a stone.
If you don't get yourself firmly back on the wagon, you are looking at be 2lb heavier than what you could be for each week you waste.
So, have a think about what you plan to eat tomorrow and write it down and stick to it. Include some sugary snacks if you have a sweet tooth so you have a little treat to look forward to, but remember to syn it.

Is that a good enough pep talk?

I didn't make my veg biryani as I didn't realise it would take an hour to cook so I had peppers, onions and couscous with lemon and black pepper. I was so hungry, I probably would have eaten the couscous raw.

I'm just about to make a almond cake of some sort. Never tried it before but apparently is gorgeous so I'm convinced to give it a try.

grinningbee · 24/04/2012 20:05

Kid Can you be my guru please? Loved that pep talk.

Come on Girders keep me company in staying on the wagon. I've only got 4 more weigh ins after tomorrow before my holiday. We can do it! I'd like to lose at least 10lb more in the next 4 weeks. Tough, but hopefully doable.

Almond cake - Sw friendly? Please post the recipe if it is. I got the bits to try the chocolate roulade from the mag, but Sainsbury's didn't have any quark (delivery tomorrow I'm told) so it'll have to wait a couple of days.

Fryup is cooking now and smells yummy. I'm starving!

FaceCrack · 24/04/2012 20:14

We're having quon sausage casserole as DH didn't fancy spaghetti marinara. It's taken ages as I didn't leave the beans to soak for long enough. Going to hoff it down then go to bed as I feel like crap.

bee can't believe you are going to be driving that around. Jeez, you've put up with a lot but surely that's the straw that broke the camels back GrinGrinGrin.

girders come on woman. Get back on board. Post everything you are shoving in your mouth on here, it helps you get back on track.

I'm dreading weigh in tomorrow. Don't forget to PM me tomorrow

kid · 24/04/2012 20:30

I'm sure the cake needs to be synned as the chickpeas are blended in the food processor but another SW follower never syns it and has still been having a healthy loss each week.

Here goes:

1 can of chickpeas
2oz artificial sweetener
3 eggs
1tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp almond essence - although I was told you can add more to suit your taste so I made it 2 tsp which I fear might have been too much.

Blend all of the ingredients until smooth, spray fry light in a loaf tin, pour in mixture and bake at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes (until brown)

Its still in the oven so I can't vouch for it yet, but according to several people, its gorgeous Smile

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 24/04/2012 20:32

If I listed what I ate I would be here all day! Tomorrow I plan on :

B - porridge and strawberrys
L - maybe soup
D - gammon, pineapple sw chips and veg

Will try not to snack but if I do it will be fruit or ff yog

Will drink pleanty of water and go on a run then do house work. Must get back in the zone.

kid · 24/04/2012 20:48

Sorry, but I'm not accepting 'maybe soup' for lunch. You need to plan ahead so you have more of a chance to stay on plan.

Oh, I need to make my lunch for tomorrow. I was too busy making the almond cake. Best do that now otherwise I'll be off plan tomorrow.

FaceCrack · 24/04/2012 20:49

That looks good girders, I like lentil soup. It's so filling!

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/04/2012 21:22

This soup is fab and filling for lunch girders. Just use lean bacon and frylight instead of lardons.

Let us know what you think of the almond cake kid. I LOVE almond flavoured stuff.

Thanks for asking about interview facecrack. I think it went ok, although it was hard to think of examples of when I'd done x, y or z after so long! They said that they will investigate whether they have any roles now or coming up (they do a lot of succession planning) that would fit with my skill set, and get back to me at the end of the week. (It wasn't a specific job that I applied for - just said 'please giz a job!')

I have just tried the hi fi light caramel and chocolate bars. OMG they are divine!

Food for today (red day):
B bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes
L pilchards on toast (1 1/3 HEb)
snack banana
D cottage pie containing lots of courgettes, carrots, celery, onion, and topped with swede and squash. 2 syns for gravy granules. baby corn.
snack 3 hi-fi lights! (remaining 2/3 HEb + 5 syns)

kid · 24/04/2012 21:26

the cake is going in the bin, its horrible!
Maybe I did something wrong?
I'll give it another go but I'll have to buy some more sweetener first as I used the last of it up. I also think it needed a bit longer than the 35 minutes as it stills feels damp if that makes sense?

I won't give up on it yet though. If so many people think its tasty then it must be. I like almond so its worth another try.

kid · 24/04/2012 21:30

just had a thought, i used almond extract instead of almond essence. Would that have made a difference?
