So, pull up a chair, settle in and make yourselves at home Smile

Yep you can do it, you'll enjoy being back in control. The go ahead ones were 5.5 syns.

LakeFlyPie · 15/04/2012 22:39

Evening

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/04/2012 22:55

No it's not me lake.

You don't have to have syns every day kid. You will lose weight quicker if you don't have them.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Life has been busy, and I haven't been as strict as usual, and have missed 2 classes/WIs. Will be going on Tues though, and am hoping for a STS at worst. I might have expected a small loss, had I not gone to a big party yesterday which included high tea (sandwiches and lots of cake, as the host had done a load of dairy free stuff), and then indian for all the guests in the evening, and I did indulge a fair bit!

Rianoceros · 15/04/2012 22:56

I'm with ya (and long posts are good)

I am going to have to drag fat arse out of bed early, and make a huge breakfast, as I am at school all day volunteering, but as I work over lunch I won't get chance to eat more than fruit and alpen lights until I get home at half 3. It will be an EE day I think.

Bfast: very veggie bubble and squeak, beans, bacon, egg, mushrooms. Fruit.
Snacks: fruit, 2x alpen light (HEB)
Main meal: grilled steak, SW chips, loads of baby corn, carrots, fine beans, snap peas, mushrooms and fry-lighted onions.

am going to alternate EE and green this week.

Rianoceros · 15/04/2012 22:57

FH&F???

FairhairedandFrustrated · 15/04/2012 22:59

Nope, not me!!!

Will read thread tomorrow, am on phone and it's crap!

Hedgepig · 15/04/2012 23:00

methinks FC is Lumpy

I will be back tomorrow when I have got rid of all the sugar out of my system, the sooner the children eat these blooming eggs the better Blush

back to school tomorrow (heaven help us)

kid · 15/04/2012 23:06

Lake have you tried those other ryvita things, crispbreads I think. You can have 6 of them for a HEb, makes it seem so much more filling than the 2 or 4 ryvitas.

Rianoceros · 15/04/2012 23:10

lumpy or bee then?

kid · 15/04/2012 23:33

Ria, I don't know who it is either so don't worry Grin I'm sure all will be revealed at some point soon.

Ironing done - check
lunch made - check
early night - opps!

FaceCrack · 16/04/2012 06:32

Hmmm you are all wrong. I'm trying to think of a better clue. I have a little DD? I had to NC as I outed myself over the weekend. Will PM you all in a bit.

csws yay, welcome back! Good luck on Thurs.
Im still feeling sick so not sure about food. Maybe something like this:
B: toast (heb)
L: chicken salad
D: veg soup

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/04/2012 11:31

Ha! My first thought was right!

FaceCrack · 16/04/2012 11:48

Well done csws Smile

Mmmcoffee · 16/04/2012 12:15

I'm starting SW on Thursday morning, but I am doing my big shop Wednesday (don't have a car so rely on my parents). What are the best things to stock up on and what do I need to avoid? I don't want to waste money on things I can't eat! Obviously no cakes/biscuits kind of thing, but can I buy all my normal fruit and veg and meat? I cook from scratch so no processed stuff to avoid! I don't eat dairy.

FaceCrack · 16/04/2012 12:38

Right you need to meal plan your breakfast lunch and dinner for 7 days. I do this every week. It saves money and prevents waste.
Get lots of fruit to snack on. Muller lights are syn free. Some of the options hot choc are very low in syns and help with any sugar cravings.
For the next 7 days we are having:
Pork stirfry
Pesto pasta with green beans
Fish pie with veg
Veg lasagne and salad
Chilli con carne and salad
Seafood pasta and salad
Sweet chilli chicken and roast veg

Lunch involves either left overs, couscous and salad or soup.

Does that help?

Chocolategirl3 · 16/04/2012 12:53

Stock up on salad and fruit like Strawberrys (speed food) apples - pink lady ones are gorgeous at the moment etc, grapes ( freeze some of them and use as boiled sweets if you need something of an evening)

Lots of veg, loving mangetout, sugar snap peas, courgettes, peppers and red onions at the moment and potatoes too

if you are like me and love a dressing with your food then 70% salad cream is only 1 syn per tablespoon which goes a long way and tastes lovely

meats - remember turkey is a speed food too

I do extra easy so only have one a and one b selection so use asda's flame grilled pitta as my b selection packed with ham salad is just gorgeous and filling i use milk as my a.

stock up on spices too

for a treat i have either a curly wurly or merangue nests with fruit and yogurt

I did have more but deleted it as you said you dont eat dairy.

weight loss using these foods has been
wk 1 - -6lbs
wk 2- +0.5lbs
wk 3- -3lbs
wk 4 - holiday
wk 5- -4lbs

hope that helps xx

Mmmcoffee · 16/04/2012 13:07

Speed food Confused ah well I'll learn!

Fab, so I can get loads of salad and veggies and fruit! Thanks for all that, very useful.

Can I have bananas or avocados? And how about sandwich meats - cooked turkey, chicken, ham?

For breakfast/lunch I usually have oats made with soy milk, or do some combination of tomatoes, onions, courgettes, peppers, mushrooms, grilled with ham or bacon, or sauteed with scrambled eggs - would they be OK? I'm guessing the bacon will be out! But how about eggs? Are they limited? I don't eat much (hardly any!) bread and am not keen on cereal so I'm trying to plan breakfasts and lunches for the week.

Chocolategirl3 · 16/04/2012 13:32

you would have to limit your oats not sure to the correct amount, it used to be 28g but i am sure its more now.

your altenative breakfast sounds fine as long as no oil is used (fry light is the substitute used)

As long as all fat cut off then eat your bacon to your hearts content.

I have a boiled egg each morning except on a Saturday when i scramble eggs using cottage cheese instead of milk and butter, very tasty.

Bananas are ok not sure about avocados.

I save my b selection for lunch so dont have any cereal either, i have a boiled egg, an activia fat free yogurt, a bunch of grapes and a golden delicious chopped up ( I save my Pink Lady till after lunch) and thats enough for me as i've never been a great eater of a morning.

xx

Chocolategirl3 · 16/04/2012 13:32

oh and yes to the sandwich meats too

Mmmcoffee · 16/04/2012 13:44

I think I'm going to like SW! Grin

Thanks, will sort out a rough menu plan and my shopping list today, I'm sure if I plan on simple meat-and-veg-style meals I'll be able to adjust them after Thursday when I know exactly what I can have.

FaceCrack · 16/04/2012 13:58

It's essentially this
Pick one cereal / bread portion and one dairy portion to have each day.
Fruit, veg, salad, fat free yogurt, potatoes, lean mean, pasta, rice and cous cous are free. anything else you syn.

I hope that helps you plan!

Chocolategirl3 · 16/04/2012 14:09

Read the books you get when you register, plan and make sure you measure out anything that requires it such as your milk allowance and most of all good luck xxx

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/04/2012 14:58

Welcome mmmmcoffee (do I know you from another thread - an or pn?). Meat must be extra lean - avoid minced lamb or turkey as almost all have syns.

You can have more kara milk (made from coconuts) than you can soy so if you find yourself short then I recommend the switch (I was completely dairy free but have reintroduced a little recently).

Eggs aren't limited - I often have a 3 egg omelette for breakfast.

Although you can eat all veg, potatoes, parsnips, peas and sweetcorn aren't 'superfree' so you may find yourself limiting those.

Mmmcoffee · 16/04/2012 15:49

FaceCrack (love the name btw Grin) that makes it sound so simple! Thanks.

CSWS no, DD is 14 so definitely not on those threads! Thanks for the tip on kara, I prefer soy but can use kara for cooking, good to know.

kid · 16/04/2012 16:00

I nearly failed but stopped myself. I reached for the biscuit tin as soon as I got in tonight but remembered I've not allowed myself any biscuits in my menu plan. Maybe I'll have a satsuma instead.

It was someone's birthday at work so i had 2 (or was it 3) biscuits Blush
It will still be okay as long as i stick to plan for the day. It's so much easier sticking to plan when I'm at work. Well it will be even easier when its no-ones birthday.

I'm not in a great mood. I'm fed up with people slacking at work and getting away with it. I don't see why i should work so hard and get no better thought of. I do hope they get pulled up on it. Why should they get paid overtime when they aren't doing the hours? Maybe I'm just being grumpy because its the first day back?
