Who is up for a stone off in a month?

MeremetaLoucoDiamant · 13/02/2012 22:49

Or maybe as close to that as we can get?

I am size 14, would love to drop a dress size for a specific date next month and I am possibly 20lbs ish overweight, so a stone would be a great starting point.

I am vegetarian but attempting to low carb.

So.... who's in?

Hi Mere, how's it going so far?

l'll join you. A stone to lose here and started behaving and eating better on Monday, so that will be my weigh in day.

Tried Atkins just before xmas and actually did very well but, needless to say I piled most of it back on over the holiday and need a diet that's a bit more flexible this time. I have a very physically active job and did spend a lot of the time on Atkins feeling exhausted.

So I'm staying away from the bread, pasta, potatoes but lots of fruit, veg, lean meat and the occasional pud!

A stone is definitely doable in a month but pretty tough, if I lose 8lb I'll be chuffed!

LaVitaBellissima · 16/02/2012 17:44

I'm in, will post later!

RabidEchidna · 16/02/2012 17:58

Count me in, DPs sister getting married in April so I would like to lose a bit maybe a dress size 16/18 at the moment.

As lent starts next Tuesday that should help Grin

ChrissyHynde · 16/02/2012 18:02

I'm up for it. Not done this sort of stuff before but it may give me some motivation,,,been really lazy etc. Could do with a stone off easily currently about 12' 5lb and about 5 foot 5 in height.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 16/02/2012 18:05

Hi all!

It's me, the OP, under a different name. I may change again as the thread continues but I shall always let you know it's me Smile

I have been doing OK so far... I'd like to be another stone down by 17th march - is this possible do we think? So far I have lost 12lbs since January 21st

I am vegetarian so find low carb really tricky... but i have been cutting down on pasta/noodles/carby stuff.

Today's food...

Breakfast - 50g feta cheese
Mixed fruit salad

Lunch - stir fried sugar snap peas, red pepper, mushroom, asparagus, broccoli with Quorn strips.

That's it so far.... no plan being followed, just my own

RabidEchidna · 17/02/2012 19:49

I shall weigh myself tomorrow on one of those scales that give you a print out and BMI

dustwhatdust · 18/02/2012 09:58

I've had a terrible half term binging on all bread, buns, cake , biscuits and chocolate .
I need to loose about 10 lbs or 5 kg so i'm with you on Monday .
sorry but can 't start at the weekend !

bugsylugs · 18/02/2012 10:17

Need to loose quite a bit pre IVF had good plans mid Jan but only getting motivation now . Must not go in biscuit tin at work. Doing low GI. Just done an exercise DVD yippee first since Nov. Next week is b day but thought would start before splurge then continue. Hope all doing ok over weekend . See you next week dust

peanutbutterjellytime · 18/02/2012 11:28

Well, I've managed to stay on track this week but AF arrived today and can feel a cold looming. Sitting here with my stomach rumbling and trying to resist the peanut butter cakes that are calling me from the kitchen! Must resist and manage at least a week on this diet.

How's everyone else doing?

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 18/02/2012 13:10

I am doing well but feel tired and have a cold this weekend so always a disaster!

I am looking for a stone off by 4 weeks today although I know that is going to take some doing. I am overweight but only a size 14 [ albeit a chubby one ] so 14lbs may prove hard work - and it's hard enough already! I'd settle for 10lbs.

So far have eaten..

quorn fillets
tomatoes
red pepper strips
1 apricot
half a banana
small pot of low fat hummus - so around 250 calories in total.

Peanut butter cakes sound bloody delicious!

tibni · 18/02/2012 13:56

Can I tag along please. I really need to kick myself back into action.

I am a vegetarian also and have no idea what I currently weigh but I do know my work clothes are getting far too tight and I have a real gut!

Just got back from a much needed half term break away having had a really stressful time at work (and serious health issues with my mum) and feel relaxed and in a good place. I have been to the sports shop and bought some new kit which I hope will help encourage me.

I work unsociable hours and this, I am sure, is the basis of my weight gain. I am eating too late and snacking at work on top of the food I eat at home.

Goal - to tone back up and get my fitness levels back up. I would guess I have a stone or two to lose. I am tall so get away with the weight but with extra weight I feel sluggish. I love carbs and cheese. First goal to wear my work trousers without getting tram lines round my gut!

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 18/02/2012 13:59

welcome tibni

Yes, I am rather devoted to the carb - chocolate, cake and cheese are weaknesses, am also fond of sweeties! I am trying to cut out the pasta/noodles/ryvita but it's quite tricky as they seem to be the very 'base' of a meal to me

RabidEchidna · 18/02/2012 19:28

Rights...takes deep breath....
13.5 stone Blush

dinkystinkyexpectations · 18/02/2012 20:51

Right the other thread went poof so am piggybacking on this one - my I'm is 10 sone 4lb for 17 march. Not going well so far this half term.....

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 18/02/2012 22:48

Hi dinky... I fucked up the other thread Im afraid for err... having to have everything deleted reasons!!

Back now! half term over now yes?

justanuthermanicmumsday · 18/02/2012 22:52

i tried atkins previously it works but i dont thinm its a healthywa of dieting or keeping wait off long term. i lost 2 stones in 2 weeks but i was doing. 2 hours exercise everyday. after a month i started vomitting a lot i put it down to the diet. i felt ill really terrible. i went to low carb rather than none, and lots of protein. far happier snd exercise is key, especially cardio.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 18/02/2012 22:53

what were you eating manic?

SeriousWispaHabit · 18/02/2012 22:55

Hello all Smile
May I join please? I started Atkins on Wednesday and would be very happy with losing a stone before I go on holiday to Center Parcs on March 19th. (I will still be overweight, but a little happier about walking around in a swimming costume).

fitflopqueen · 18/02/2012 22:58

Would love to join too, went full time at work 12 months ago and finding that the weight piled on - if I can lose a stone that would be great but no point starting til monday as entertaining tomorrow, so will low carb for lent.

Clothes getting tighter and refusing to buy any more until at least half stone down to start with.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 18/02/2012 23:08

seriouswispahabit - I am thinking, from reading your name, that something needs to change Grin I am partial to Wispa Golds, have to say...

fitflop - come join us! And you're right - no one starts a diet on a Sunday!

I think a stone by mid March is going to be quite the challenge!

dinkystinkyexpectations · 19/02/2012 10:20

Hi FuckU - nice name Grin Hope all ok with you. Half term is indeed over - have had a few days at MILs eating far too much cake and drinking far too much wine (hence my rather badly spelled post last night Blush) but back home tonight and back to work tomorrow so back on the straight and narrow. Will try to get to gym tonight for a half hour bike ride (that and pilates for abs being only exercise am allowed to do for the time being).

A stone by march is doable - remember you've done it before and can do it again...

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 19/02/2012 10:56

It's a terrible name isn't it?! I will change at some point.

Well, breakfast this morning was chopped melon, strawberries and blueberries with Activia fat free pouring yogurt.

peanutbutterjellytime · 19/02/2012 11:39

Fell off the wagon last night, peanut butter cup cakes consumed and the rest! But got back on this morning and feeling very virtuous, poached egg, lean bacon and low fat sausage for breakfast, followed by an hour of Davina dvd.

Fuck u - love typing that Grin as someone else has already said, a stone is manageable if you're really determined and sounds like you are. I find losing it the easy part, it's keeping this bloody stone off that's the bugger! so for me if it takes a bit longer this time but means I maintain it, I'll be happy.

Right, will weigh in tomorrow and post with results.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 19/02/2012 12:11

peanut - I would wobble with cupcakes around! My weakness is cake... I love it.

Yes, I am determined! But now I am thinking about peanut butter on toast

peanutbutterjellytime · 19/02/2012 12:26

No! Step away from the peanut butter and think about the 17th March.

Another thing that's spurred me on was watching the weather this morning and how mild it's going to get. Got me thinking about summer. I want to feel good by then, not worrying about exposing my arms or how big my arse looks in linen trousers without a coat to hide in.
