Who is up for a stone off in a month?

MeremetaLoucoDiamant · 13/02/2012 22:49

Or maybe as close to that as we can get?

I am size 14, would love to drop a dress size for a specific date next month and I am possibly 20lbs ish overweight, so a stone would be a great starting point.

I am vegetarian but attempting to low carb.

So.... who's in?

The 17th is an important date for me! For various reasons i have not seen my boyfriend since before Christmas... the 17th of march is when we see each other! A stone off by then would be amazing..

It's going to get mild is it?? OK. yes, I would LOVE this summer to be the one where I am back in size 12. I probably have closer to 20 odd lbs to lose but I am not too hung up on this

Alright I shall go and walk the dog!

ferfuxake · 19/02/2012 12:55

Hello. Can I join you please? I have two stone to lose and am useless at motivating myself. I really feel I have to do this now or I will be fat and getting fatter forever. My weaknesses are carbs of all varieties and especially chocolate and biscuits, oh and wine too.... I' m aiming to go low carb without cutting out fruit as that is my one healthy habit.

Current weight, gulp, is 12 stone. Am feeling inspired by some you who have already lost.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 19/02/2012 13:21

hello and welcome :)

I am not really following low carb to the letter or anything - I eat plenty of fruit etc...I am just trying hard to give up the pasta/noodles/rice cake/ryvita thing - and obviously am steering well clear of cake!

SeriousWispaHabit · 19/02/2012 13:43

We need somebody organised to make a list of us all and our weight loss each week...

I am doing seriously low carb and no alcohol until 17th march and then introducing some fruit etc. So far it's the no alcohol that's killing me. I have done 4 1/2 days Hmm

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 19/02/2012 13:48

Luckily Wispa, I am teetotal in the main. I love a drink [champagne is my thing ] but can happily go months without.

Low carbing is still so weird to me... I eat, say , a stir fry with tofu and wonder where the noodles are. I find feta cheese filling though. < like whoooo >

Yes, who is going to organise us all?

KateShmate · 19/02/2012 13:49

I'm in, but concentrating on keeping to Slimming World rules - lots of pasta and potatoes...
Don't think I could cope on a low carb diet - eating just fruit, veg and meat would leave me starving!

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 19/02/2012 13:53

And doubly difficult Kate as i am vegetarian...

I cannot do the SW thing as a portion of pasta means something different to me than other folk! I would have triple a normal portion

SeriousWispaHabit · 19/02/2012 14:11

Kate I thought I would be starving but I am weirdly full actually.

KateShmate · 19/02/2012 14:20

FuckU ???? What do you eat?!
Im not veggie, but dont really enjoy meat - which is why I have tried to stick to SW because if I did low carbs + not much meat... I wouldn't know what to eat!
Wispa I must be some kind of freak; I can eat some fruit and be sooo starving 10 minutes later?!
If you don't mind, could you give me a list of what you would eat on a normal day?

tibni · 19/02/2012 14:31

Right im off to the gym and will try and work out the new scales to see how much damage i've done. Aiming for an intense interval session with weights today.

I am reading a book written by a trainer about the myths surrounding weightloss and exercise. Really enjoying it and a bargain at 49p in the works.

I am trying to eat reasonable portions rather than restrict any food because the only way I am going to keep healthy is by longterm adjustments.

fannybaws · 19/02/2012 14:35

Can I join in please? March 17th is my first goal as I am going to a wedding that day.
Am doing weightwatchers and have 2 stone to loose, already lost one yay.
Am also bf and doing the gym and finding it fine so far.
Am 11 st 5 lb at the mo and am 5 ft 4, final goal 9 stone 5 .
Sorted out my wardrobe today and enjoyed chucking out clothes that are now too big or I just hate! Very therapeutic indeed Smile

LaVitaBellissima · 19/02/2012 16:42

I am officially starting tomorrow as I have to eat SIL's b'day cake tonight.

My issue is that I don't meal plan, I end up snacking on rubbish whilst hungry, also eating DD's leftovers, and drinking too much Wine

My rules starting Monday are

  1. No alcohol Mon-Sun
  2. 8 glasses of Water per day
  3. Sensible breakfast, lunch & dinner (pre planned)
  4. Healthy snacks available, 1 mid morning, 1 afternoon
  5. Exercise - 30 day shred dusted off, it really does work!
mousemole · 19/02/2012 16:43

Can I join too please? I've just eaten my entire body weight during half term. First goal is may 6th, ds 3's christening and then next goal is June 23rd, my birthday. I'd like to lose 201bs. Thought about joining a slimming club but I live in the country and there are none within a half hour drive at a decent time. Not going to follow a specific plan , I know what to do, just need the willpower !

LaVitaBellissima · 19/02/2012 16:43

That should state Sun-Thurs, 1/2 bottle allowance on Fri/Sat Wine

nenevomito · 19/02/2012 16:50

Hello still dieting here Grin. Combination of Low Carb and MyFitnessPal.

Had a small set back the other week when I bought some new scales and they weren't as generous as the last set, but now back to weighing what I should!

Started off the week at 206lb and ended on 203lb and I'm happy with a 3lb loss as its nice and steady.

KateShmate · 19/02/2012 17:44

Babyheave How do you find MyFitnessPal - spent a while the other week setting it all up and putting in my food for that day. Then it told me that I was eating too little calories and cautioned me that my body may go into starvation mode! I just had to laugh! Me, going into starvation?! Grin

My new scales are shit brilliant! When I weigh myself on a thick pile rug, I can lose up to 2st! Grin

ferfuxake · 19/02/2012 17:45

Today I am indulging in all the things I know I will have to leave behind tomorrow. So far that includes a mountain of white bread, gingerbread men (baking with DDs - impossible to resist), chocolate and wine. And I still have dinner to come...

Tomorrow is the beginning of the new approach. I think I'm going to try to do Zoe Harcombe for the first five days - did it once before and it really seemed to work - and after that I will just try to minimise carbs without following a specific plan.

Just been doing the online shop. Basically loads of veg, fish and chicken. Yawn. I have to remember that the rest of the family will be eating normally I guess. Not really fair to inflict low carb on 3 and 1 year old. DH would benefit massively, but is too stroppy to go along with it.

LaVitaBellissima - I like your rules, especially the bit about half a bottle of wine at the weekend. Don't think I can realistically cut it out altogether, but it must stop being such a massive source of empty calories.

LearningFast · 19/02/2012 18:51

Hi all,

Please may I join too? I am 2 stone overweight, started pregnancy 10lbs overweight and ate too much over the 9 months, piling on even more Sad.

DS is coming up for 6 months old now and the 2 pairs of maternity jeans which I have been continuing to wear since he was born Blush are both falling apart from excessive use. I can't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy trousers and refuse to buy any more.

I am still breastfeeding so my plan is really just to try and reduce my snacking and drink more water. Doesn't sound like much but I have been eating way too much chocolate for rather too long now, so cutting that out should have some effect with any luck.

mousemole · 19/02/2012 18:56

OK, I've decided I'm going to do Jason Vale's juice diet Mon - Fri. That normally takes a pound a day off. Tough but you get real results. Next week myfitnesspal and low carb.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 19/02/2012 19:51

Nice to see lots of joiners on this thread. LearningFast - I lost all my babyweight on mat leave with DS2 by avoiding the cake, drinking tonnes of water and walking absolutely everywhere (combined with one pushy mothers buggy workout and a pilates session a week) - sadly put most of it back on when I went back to work and was sat on my arse all day, eating sandwiches at lunch and jumping into the biscuit tin at moments of stress and discovered the biscuit tin. You can do it!

watfordmummy · 19/02/2012 20:00

I'm in, have been doing Dukan for past 2 weeks and have lost 10lb, but today had a celebration lunch and bag of fudge ( just got professional qualification!). So back on attack phase of diet again tomorrow. Getting sick of protein tbh.

Need to exercise, but can seem to be bothered find time! Grin

nenevomito · 19/02/2012 20:46

I find myfitnesspal to be a real help and I'm amazed at how much is in the database. I love the barcode reader, as it means I can't lie and pretend that it was a treat size chocolate bar I ate earlier Blush

watfordmummy - I did Dukan last time and it drove me nuts as it was too restrictive after a month. I am now just lowcarbs high protein.

SeriousWispaHabit · 19/02/2012 21:11

Kate a sample day would be:

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs and a couple of slices of ham

Lunch: Spinach, watercress, rocket salad with half a avocado and a 190g pack cooked chicken chopped up in it, with full fat dressing (blue cheese my fave).

Snack: 10 or so olives and a few slices of cucumber spread with cream cheese (full fat)

Dinner: Steak with creamy peppercorn sauce and shredded steamed cabbage

BackToBligg · 19/02/2012 21:23

Thank you fuckU for starting this thread. I am also a veggie low carber and lost nearly a stone this year. I have just got back from a week in Italy staying with ILs and fell off the wagon spectacularly! I'm still tittering remembering my attempts to make them lo carb vegetarian dinners. Cabbage lasagne anybody? They are sooo polite, which makes me laugh more.

Still, they are very impressed at how slim I am. I'm going to start again tomorrow.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 19/02/2012 23:29

Welll when I say 'low carb ' i do not do it properly like wispa! I am actually crash dieting at the moment if I am honest. I may rectify this tomorrow

Breakfast was yogurt and fruit salad, lunch was half a pack of quorn fillets, tea was 4 dried apricots and 2 bananas.
