Who is up for a stone off in a month?

MeremetaLoucoDiamant · 13/02/2012 22:49

Or maybe as close to that as we can get?

I am size 14, would love to drop a dress size for a specific date next month and I am possibly 20lbs ish overweight, so a stone would be a great starting point.

I am vegetarian but attempting to low carb.

So.... who's in?

Hi all and thanks for words of encouragement dinky and lavitabella. Just a quick post as am at work but wanted to post as I was amazed to find this morning that I am already almost 4 pounds down. This is despite a fair bit of cheating - Zoe harcombe would almost certainly disown me as I have had numerous sneaky bits of cheese, wine with dinner and also nicked
Kids biscuits, oh and about half a pancake when i was making them for the kids yesterday.

Seems like cutting out bread and pasta is key for me. Having said that I know I cannot be complacernt. These four pounds have probably been lost and regained a thousand times!

I need to get stricter and that may involve using fucku's sellotape trick before long.

Hope you are all getting on well.

Ifancyanewname · 22/02/2012 09:31

Morning all, 2lbs down today so 11.11...i keep going down to 11.10 then get complacent or the weekend rolls round and I put 2 or 3 lbs back on then lose it again....argh! I need to stay focused!! I keep thinking if i hadnt kept on putting those 2 or 3lb back on i'd be goal weight by now! Low carbing is def the way forward for me and I had a lovely moussaka last night for dinner. Having bolognese tonight and I'm going to try out the lovely lady who suggested having ribbons of carrot and courgette with it instead, it sounds lovely! Omelette for breakfast I think and tuna and salad for lunch.

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 22/02/2012 10:14

Morning all - well done on the losses. I am down another lb this morning so that's 16lbs in a month and one day : )

Breakfast - Activia strawberry yogurt with chopped necarines, melon and 2 dried apricots.

That's it so far!

mousemole · 22/02/2012 11:07

Wow everyone is doing so wellGrin I am at the gym having a skinny coffee after doing 40 mins on x trainer. Bloody awful and now I am this colour Angry
Newname, weekends are my downfall, I tend to regain all I have lost in the week. What is the point of that ?! I am having one celebration meal on sat night as we are having people for dinner. Anyone got any ideas for starter and main that u can serve that is tasty but not really 'bad' ?

peanutbutterjellytime · 22/02/2012 11:30

Well day 10 and still doing well but when does the hunger stop!?

I'm trying to get my head around this being a way of eating for life if I don't want to keep regaining this bloomin stone. Getting too old to keep yoyo dieting like this so I think I've got to shift the mindset and think of it more as a healthy approach and lifestyle.

Great weight loss everyone, keep it up!

dinkystinkyexpectations · 22/02/2012 11:40

Go retro mousemole - prawn cocktail with avocado (use low fat mayo or just a tiny bit of the full fat stuff) or melon? Main - roast your meat and do lots of veggies on the side? Wil mean you can all concentrate on quaffing the wine (do spritzers if you want the drinks to last longer and be less calorific) and save some space for pudding (meringue, frozen yoghurt and berries a huge hit in our house).

wannabestressfree · 22/02/2012 12:42

Have had
Mango and banana for brekkie
Chicken, advocado and olive salad on rocket with mayo.

a diet coke
green tea

I don't know how long to give it before I weigh myself...........

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 22/02/2012 12:43

I am not sure when the hunger stops. Well, it's less the hunger and more the craving for cake in my case. Maybe it never goes away?

FuckUAndTheHorseURodeInOn · 22/02/2012 12:46

wannabe - how many days in are you now?

wannabestressfree · 22/02/2012 13:29

A heady three lol

I think I am eating too much fruit but I am working on the assumption its better than a massive bar of choccy [my normal forte]. I have a lot to lose so am doing it to attempt falling off the wagon although I have just read about sugar free jelly.

Ifancyanewname · 22/02/2012 13:38

What sort of diet are you doing wannabe? I'm sort of low carbing but still eating fruit/veg/milk basically cut out bread, pasta, white rice, cakes, choc, biccies, sugar. I've found that eating more protein has really stopped me snacking, I'm actually a bit gutted about it because I really enjoy eating a nice snack (thats why I've got to the position I am I suspect!)

dustwhatdust · 22/02/2012 13:59

i seem to have the strength during the week and used to relax at weekends you know - the 80/20 principle, but now i've got into this terrible habit of totally binging on carbs when i'm not ' being good ' .
yesterday made the pancakes - no problem husband and son ate them ,
weighed in at 65.3 today so i've gained 10g !
Today I made a chocolate birthday cake + 2 lemon cakes for a party didn't even lick the chocolate icing !
see how i do at t time with the birthday boy !

wannabestressfree · 22/02/2012 14:08

I am low carbing as I have found this works for me. I have a lot to lose [four stone] :{ and I find this easier to stick too then anything else.

What do you use instead of sugar in your tea? My dp is doing it too and is desolate at the loss of his cups of tea [unable to drink without sugar]

lettersandcommas · 22/02/2012 14:10

Can I sign in?
So for me that would be one stone by March 22nd.
I can do that.

Ifancyanewname · 22/02/2012 14:19

I still have about a quarter of a sugar in (down from one) but i think you can get some good sweeteners which are low carb.

mousemole · 22/02/2012 14:29

Love the menu dinkystinky, thank you !

SeriousWispaHabit · 22/02/2012 14:51

Well I have lost 12 lbs in a week!

I have stuck to it completely and I am very impressed by the results (Atkins). Not expecting a big loss next week though and I expect it to slow right down.

It has made me think about how much I must have been eating before if I can do that in a week and not really be hungry. I have gone from eating a bacon sandwich for breakfast, a few biscuits as mid morning snack, sandwich with crisps and fruit for lunch, fruit and choc as late afternoon snacks and a massive dinner when I finally get home from work - which would be something like curry and rice or pasta and meatballs, then maybe a biscuit or a bit of chocolate. Not to mention most of a bottle of wine about 4 times a week and also the odd beer and G+T Blush

Ifancyanewname · 22/02/2012 14:54

Seriouswispahabit, I know what you mean...when I think about the volume I used to consume it worries me! I have a chuckle when people ask whether low carbing is more expensive..errr not when you add up what I used to spend on junk and booze!

wannabestressfree · 22/02/2012 15:13

well done Serious. Did u stick to under 20g of carb? I am just trying to get advice re fruit..

mousemole · 22/02/2012 15:25

Bloody hell wispa that's amazing ! Right, definitely lo carb for me next week ! You are my 'thinspiration'.. !

SeriousWispaHabit · 22/02/2012 15:27

yes, under 20g which means no fruit. But I have eaten loads and loads of salad and green veg (cabbage, broccoli etc) and also olives and avocado (half per day)

Lol at being anyones thinspiration.

nenevomito · 22/02/2012 15:33

I am doing OK still and on target for 2lb this week.

I had a couple of biscuits at playgroup this morning, but reckon that 160 calories of sugary goodness was worth it to get through 2 hours of screaming toddlers. I reduced my lunch to make up for it.

I was VERY good yesterday and only had two pancakes with a tsp of nutella on each. DH ate many. humph.

mousemole · 22/02/2012 15:52

Are vegetarian sausages low carb ?

nenevomito · 22/02/2012 15:54

Some are - the Quorn and Linda McCartney ones are high protein, but some of the others aren't - check the pack to be sure.

KateShmate · 22/02/2012 16:54

Oh nooo, have had such a good day and then just completely binged on 3 KitKats. FGS.
